Dude, you have so much fun and that’s what it’s all about! Never considered it until watching your video. Maybe what I’ve been looking for and didn’t even know it. Don’t wanna go fast anymore...just have fun. Thanks!🤙🏾
This bike and especially the engine has roots in the BW200. It was a transitional bike to fill in with the hopes of taking the place of all the 3 wheeled ATC’s when the ATCs got outlawed. They only made them for three years in the early 80’s. They had huge ATC type tires. That kind had gyroscopic effect that made turning and cornering cumbersome but wasn’t bad at slow speed. The one I had was like a tractor. It would go through 3 feet of Erie Pennsylvania snow with no effort at all. And when the transitioned once again to some what smaller tires and made it street legal they actually rode some to the North Pole as an advertising stunt. They started every time. And made it no problem. Those 200cc engines are great. Very reliable. I got a Kawasaki Super Sherpa in 2009 brand new but was eyeing the TW up as a toss up. Still may get one someday. Great vid. Good to see someone having good clean fun without the daredevil stuff. Just like when we were kids.
Thanks for giving us your honest opinion on this obviously fun bike. I started thinking about getting a smaller dual-sport a couple years ago when I motorcycled down to Death Valley. A buddy of mine goes there every year with a group of dual sport riders and he has a blast every time.
In my opinion it's the best way to go. Big Heavy bikes are no fun off road and I honestly have more fun cruising at 45mph and enjoying the scenery as I go by .

Hey Dual, I am planning to do the LAB2V this year for the first time. I am in process of prepping my new-to-me WR250R. I am going to ad some type of off-road lights in case I get caught in the dark. Been on Amazon, Harbor Freight, etc. The challenge is finding a bracket that fits the lights I have been looking at. So, what type of bracket is that holding your lights on. The lights appear well above and toward the front of the bike, which enables you to see the speedo cluster. Is that plumbers strap? Can't tell. Thanks.

Almost anywhere in Utah is great also, as long as you're not right on the Wasatch Front from Ogden to Salt Lake to Provo to Santaquin. Get anywhere away from those horrid people-infested places and the whole rest of the state is incredible. A PERFECT TW200 locale.
I like the tires of TW. It looks better. Can anyone answer if the TX can take tires change like the TW ? If so, the TX option would look great down the line. The skinny tires of TX are a turn off to some. Looks make a big difference in making a choice.
TWs are definitely great little bikes to putt around on. Fun to take off-road, decent on road manners considering the fat ass tires. However they are not at all practice for daily use. You cannot get up to highway traffic speeds, and the lack of a sixth gear is a problem for daily commuting. These bikes are purely for fun. You take them in the sand and mud and have the time of your life. I used one in the BRC and it felt like I was cheating because the low gearing was really good for the low speed maneuvers they had us doing.
I'm looking for a bike that can go through a wash. I have a river by my home that rarely has water and want a bike that can handle the extremely loose sand. Will this work?
Way to soft for me lol. I put on the cogent rear shock for it and it is so much better . Up front I have procycle heavier springs and oil too and now it rides so much better .
Don't quote me on it but I'm pretty sure the older ones didn't have a tach as well . You could get a trail tech display and it has a tach on it. That's what I had on my old XR that was plated
There are actually a couple of significant differences between earlier and later model years of the TW200, other than the disc brakes improvement for the 2000 model and beyond. First, Tdubs up to 2001 had kick start and electric start. The second, and most critical difference, is the 1987 had a different electrical system than the other years. My understanding is that the headlight is powered by the stator as opposed to being connected directly to the battery. While at idle, the headlight receives only 5 volts and dims accordingly. This means that the headlight (and possibly the other lights) cannot be changed to LED or the LED will strobe at the lower voltage.
got my new tag in, double checked my insurance and my new battery arrives next wednesday - can't wait to get back on the bike, 2020 tw200, 4,194 out the door (feels like I stole it) 2,2k miles
It's the Tusk Rack. It looks cool but as soon as you actually use it and put weight on it the rack itself is going to rip , especially in the corners. If you know how to weld and got the equipment it isn't to big of a deal but I might just get the cyclerack for it in the near future. Had one on my XR and had no problems with it
You’re not an official Tdubber until you’ve dragged that sucker down a hill! Also, I was aiming to get drunk, so I’d prefer more “it’s like” in the future 😁🍻 Great vid, dude!

I'm looking for a bike that can go through a wash. I have a river by my home that rarely has water and want a bike that can handle the extremely loose sand. Will this work?
Yup
@@dualdorks awesome! That's all I really want a bike for. Thanks!
Can you share the link for some of your farkles ? I would love to check them out , especially the tank and lights . Thanks
Tank is from Procyle and the led is from harbor freight. The headlight is the JNS
The ride seems a bit rough for a dual sport. Is the suspension on the TW too stiff?
Way to soft for me lol. I put on the cogent rear shock for it and it is so much better . Up front I have procycle heavier springs and oil too and now it rides so much better .
Looking to buy a used on but prefer one with a Tach. What year did that dissappear?
Wish they still came with a kick start
Awesome video...thanks!
You ramp up the fun factor.
Great Vid!😎👌
My only problem with this bike has been the small gas tank. Where did you get the larger one?
Procyle
@@dualdorks thanks
Where did you get the green plastic parts ?! those are amazing
Spray paint
got my new tag in, double checked my insurance and my new battery arrives next wednesday - can't wait to get back on the bike, 2020 tw200, 4,194 out the door (feels like I stole it) 2,2k miles
My buddy just bought the new 2024 TW with the 5 year warranty and it came out to $8,800 lol. I screamed when he told me
wow that place is so beautiful where is that
Out in the Eastern Sierras near Ridgecrest CA
Of the three bikes I ride, the TW-200 is the most fun.
HI, what is the extra light above your handlebars?
It is a cheapo harbor freight LED and I hastily made the mount with some scrap metal I had lying round lol
I see you're a local! Lol I have some friends with tw's if you ever wanna ride up the pass or down a hill a little together!
I'm totally down! Unfortunately waiting on parts and watching my friends dog. Can't get to far out this week
where you found plastic tank?
Procycle.com
Looks like you're riding close to where Trevor lives!
You made the thing look like a tank
are these things hard to ride standing up? no one ever stands up in there vids even when they are doing crazy terrain...
I'd recommend getting bar risers and bigger pegs . It helps out a lot when it comes to standing
2 inch risers on the bars! stand all day long!
What brand rear rack do you have and how do you like it ?
It's the Tusk Rack. It looks cool but as soon as you actually use it and put weight on it the rack itself is going to rip , especially in the corners. If you know how to weld and got the equipment it isn't to big of a deal but I might just get the cyclerack for it in the near future. Had one on my XR and had no problems with it
You’re not an official Tdubber until you’ve dragged that sucker down a hill! Also, I was aiming to get drunk, so I’d prefer more “it’s like” in the future 😁🍻 Great vid, dude!
🤣 thanks man. Its my buffer for when I'm trying to think of what to say next . Are you doing the LAB2V this year?
@@dualdorks I told myself I was going to do LAB2V this year, then it snuck up on me again and I have zero arrangements made😩 Hopefully I can redeem myself by tackling the CABDR this year. Or at least the Mojave Trail.
@@TillDeathDualUsSport my buddy and I are trying to do the CABDR in January hopefully
@@dualdorks Nice! Seems like one hell of a ride.
Saludos amigo desde pichilemu ,chile
Un habrazo 👍👍
How is your LED set up?
Its a harbor freight LED . I currently don't have it on right now . I ordered a new rack and I want to mount it up to it
Very good video
Hi, where do you live,. Where is that you are riding?? I have the XT250 and love it .
I think its Cali. in Kennedy Meadows... I think I heard.. Very nice place.
@@frankmuccino1812 I live in Ridgecrest. Thqt area is just north of here up by Pearsonville . I do go up to Kennedy Meadows a lot
@@dualdorks thank you
ohh and loved the video, I just wish I could ride my XT250 in a place like that
Hey I'm looking at getting a xt250, is 1st gear pretty low? I want to be able to go slow through the woods i have. Thanks
Where did u get the tank? How many gallons?
Procycle . The Clark 2.7 Gallon tank
I’m 6’3”….can it work for me? Thx
Yup
@@dualdorks thank you!!
Is that a stock pipe or fmf ?
FIRST!!!! AWE4SOME VIDEO!!!!!!!!
Man 12000 in a year might be a lot to some people but my new KLR has 14k on it in 6 months lol. I guess if I had more than 1 bike or a car it would be less but this is all I have.
. Always keep a Good hunting knife & water filter system thing & a fire starter thing/lighter & water/wind matches & space blanket. Just in case. HA.HA.HA
Can u wheelie the Tdub
Do you have stock gearing?
Yes
Greate video :)
awesome! from JAPAN
People say that as death arrives people re-run their entire life at high speed.
After +30K miles of a Tdub and if riding it again I'm dying with ear-plugs on.
Be careful when you go out to remote places like that because you you may come up on somebody burying bodies and then they start chasing you
That was fun
I wanted a Suzuki VanVan 200, but the TW200 is easier to find.
You can drag it down a hill, like a dog that doesn't want to go for a walk. Rotflmao!
I’m pretty sure we both rode the same t dub at the basic rider course haha
I was on my Honda during the BRC but that is when I was first introduced to the TW . Funny I didn't know a thing about them before the BRC
