Looks like it should be a lot stronger. We never have enough storage. We are always praying for you and Lydia 🙏🙏🙏

I had put a 10 hp mower engine on the bottom shelf and it was too much.
The bracing will keep the shelf flat and let me put things on it without rolling off. 😀😎
Thanks again. Lydia is having a good day. 😀

You have the time and motivation to make something work and it worked out nicely. I find the weakest part of that light duty shelves or anything light duty is racking/working load. Sure a rachet strap or bungie can put out tremendous holding power but attachment points and material moving will cause failure way sooner. Static load is always good 👍

Racking is one of the weak points of racking.
Even the big pallet racks that I use to install in factories fail under racking loads.
I have the racks attached to the wall with some clips. That removes the chances of the shelf twisting and losing the proper center of gravity.
This rack is going to be attached to the wall and the rack behind it.
We always put two racks back to back and if they went over 20 feet they were attached to the ceiling.
Even then I have had problems with lifts taking out racks by catching the uprights with the forks or most commonly overloading the shelves.
The capacity is based on a load spread out over the area of the shelf. Not on a single point load in the center or either end.
      People are people. 😀😎😈

It was the oddest storm I have seen in a long time.
Continous lightning and thunder for 2 solid hours. We got a little rain. No puddles just a damp yard and wet driveway.
Glad it was mild. I still haven't gotten all the wood cut up from the last one.

@@OldSneelock I'm glad you guys are OK - I've been through 2 hurricanes and several tornadoes. You kinda learn to respect Mother Nature in a bad mood! Glad it wasn't too bad.

No real wind to speak of and not much rain. Just a lot of cloud to cloud lightning.

A light duty self will hold a lot. Pipe to hook up pressure switch split. Brass made from rolled flat stock. Imported. Kids had the same thing on their well.Well man has seen it before. Cheap imported parts. Chinesium. God Bless Yall

      Sorry you had a failure.
We have gotten lulled into thinking price should be low.
When the manufacturer knows they won't have to deal with angry customers the quality can and usually does go right down the tubes. Cheap, chinesium, rolled brass crap tubes to boot.
American made is forced to beat chinesium prices or not sell. It is the WalMart way of doing business. Move in and take 10% of the market when retail lives off a 3% profit margin.
      Competition folds.

The previous person just tossed it out rather than try and fix it.

Very similar to the shelf I was working on a couple months ago except mine is only 5 feet tall. I bought that many years ago from ACO Hardware for maybe 4 Bucks after rebate or something like that. I miss ACO they always had great sales, they even used to have a coupon for a Free item every week and then I think in later years it became a 10 Cent item. Mine is screwed to the wall for stability too.

I read that Aco became part of Ace Hardware.
It was a nice chain of stores. The one here in Richland is a great resouce.
