This was the first video on this series and actually one of the first videos I ever made, I head your comments about not being fair presenting studio albums and stuff so here I made a revisited video you can see it here ua-cam.com/video/ku2sbhD1BKA/v-deo.html
Floor, you are without doubt one of the most amazing singers I’ve heard in my life. You are right though, whether you like the style or not it’s a separate issue, but there are talented singers everywhere.
Word! If metalheads wish to gain respect, the first step is to respect others. Even if we didn't wish to gain anything, we should respect others. They, too, are only human. And a lot of other-genre-artists are fantastic in their art!
Can't find any humiliation here, all solid performances by outstanding women in their respective genres, doesn't matter if they sing pop, opera style symphonic metal, or scream their lungs out, if they got the pipes, they're all queens in my book
You are either not a metalhead or trying so hard to have a fair opinion. You came across as a pretentious person. Be honest with yourself, this is not even a comparison; This is straight up slauther. Humiliation is even a nice word for pop shits.
@@captainfantastic3490 A lot of metal singers are indeed top tier talent. They have such strong and powerful vocals. But to say rock singers humiliate pop singers is just not true. Both genres have top tier talent, average talent, and some that are just grasping for fame. Christina A, Adele, Lady Gaga, and Morrisette Amon are all phenomenal talents within their own genre. Even if you don't like the music, respect for the vocal ability should be a given for any true music fan.
@Marie Libra I never said that singing in metal automatically makes a singer better. for example Elize Ryde is meh, She's average. but Metal singers in general have been better since 60s. They've been better in out time and they are in another level. We don't know what will happen in future. Dimash is talented tho but he needs to get better.
@@captainfantastic3490 The ones i listed are "pop shits"? Your close mindedness and lack of perception for musical ability or talent is plainly visible for all to see. Your opinion is exactly that just opinion...
It's a shame how society doesn't acknowledge how much power and skill it takes to sing metal. Metal isn't clean and it isn't simple as using a clean organic voice in this case. My respect to metal vocalist, especially the women in that industry
It does help that some of these metal singers have been in music shows on television to show off their skills on different genres. Some of the clips were from a couple of those shows. Don't ask me which shows, I only get such information from my mom. I hate 101% of the songs they choose for such shows. I would love to see it reversed though, to see Ariane Grande, Lady Gaga and Adele sing metal. I bet they and a lot more pop singers would be amazing at it. And who knows, maybe they love it :D
This is factually accurate, when heard jinjer for the first time live my respect level went from a 10 to a 50. Tatiana Shmayluk can sing with any pop singer..... any and I would put money on that.
@@air9710how sore was you after your first gig 🤣🤣🤣 i lost my voice and damaged my windpipe. I cant yell anymore because i just start coughing 🤣🤣🤣 i tried man..
@@stylis666 One of the shows was beste zangers where a bunch of Dutch singers come together and sing each other´s songs or songs that mean a lot to them. Floor sang Shallow for a cover artist but two singers on that show actually tackled a Nightwish song, Tim Akkerman with Nemo and Samantha Steenwijk did and translated Our Decades In The Sun.
Female metal singers are often underestimated. In fact, they often come with completely insane and powerful vocals. Anyway, this isn't about humiliation to the pop singers. It's a compilation of singers with great vocal abilities. 🤘🏻
I’ve been a metal fan for decades, was in a metal band for a good part of the 80s. Objectively, I didn’t see any “embarrassment”. Dissing fricken Adele is every bit as ignorant as mainstream normies dismissing someone like Floor. Genre fanboyism is idiotic. “All aspects of music are valid…..” - Glenn Tipton Judas Priest
its not about genre fanboyism, its about fake (pop) versus music with substance (rock) and I am not even a fan of rock , I just like any music that has substance and I hate music that is designed purely to rob kids of their pocket money. Can u name 3 decent pop songs from the last decade that have even a little substance? No, I didnt' think so, neither can I.
very well put, highly accurate.im not aware of "floor" but will look since you have given this eclectic fan of every great voice i can find a reason to look.
As a metalhead, I didn’t see any humiliation except for the transition from Katy Perry to Alissa White-Gluz. Everyone else had great vocal range, but female metal singers are often underrated, underestimated and under appreciated. There’s a lot of female metal singers who can roar/growl just as good as the men do, in some cases even better. Obviously pop is a much more popular genre and a metric fuck ton more people are gonna listen to it, but metal has been, still is and probably always will be one of the most under appreciated music genres in existence
You aren't a metal head , you are a wanna be. Tarja for example sings classical....and metal.. That says it all . The only pop artist that could sing really good especially when he was young was Sakis Rouvas listen the song Mia fora. Cu.
that's bcos pop is people's generic musik nowadays. pop singers are great but metal singers are versatile. pop can only do clean. metals can do clean & roar.
The only humiliation is the amount of money pop singers make compared to the metal chicks, which to be perfectly honest, most people never heard of. Funny how this list purposely excluded Mariah and Whitney. In their prime, they'd put everyone in this video to shame. LoL
Metal genres are everything to me, but I can easily appreciate other music genres and talents all the same. I don’t see any humiliation. Just homage to each style of music.
My only issue was Lady Gaga. She's a great singer but why did it seen like she was trying to keep her lips looking pouty the whole time? It also looked like she was afraid of her top and bottom lip touching
Lady Gaga is actually a huge metal fan. She's a huge Iron Maiden fan. I actually can see Maidens influence in her live gigs and album art. Lady Gaga was asked if she thinks of herself as the next Madonna. She said no. I want to be the next Iron Maiden. To have the passionate fans Maiden has, she wants that.
@@phantoms-yy5jv Check it out the dress rehearsel from Moth into flame with Lady Gaga. It has the correct mix and is awesome compaired to the broadcasted one. :)
That's exactly how I feel about Ariana Grande. That girl has pipes!! Lady Gaga is a badass too. I'm not a big pop music guy either, but a few of these ladies have real talent.
I mean.. Eh? I'm a metal fan, and the examples they picked are very specific examples of a niche genre of metal. To pretend that all metal singers are operatic is ludicrous.
You're comparing symphonic metal vocalists, many of them trained classical singers, to pop singers. It's apples and oranges. Even so, Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande both have 4+ octave vocal ranges and have performed in a variety of styles, not unlike Floor or Tarja. They are extremely well versed in phrasing, improvisation, tone, and texture, quite likely more so than the somewhat more limited expression range (at least in published works) of most symphonic metal singers. Don't get me wrong, most of these ladies are absolutely amazing performers (not sure about Nicki Minaj or Katy Perry,) but they are too different to be compared, and even if they could be, I would think twice before ruling either way.
@asdas saddasd I think you missed the point of these metal singers. People who enjoy pop mostly just enjoy the vibe of it. Metal fans are very detail and techichnal oriented people. Each and every vocal note is percise and flawless. While the pop divas just don't have the talent and sheer training for it. It's very much a different stage of music.
@asdas saddasd I didn't say they have no talent. I love singers like Pink, Adele, and Aguilera. The issue is the trend in modern music itself. The reliance of auto tune and voice modification completely ruines the natural beauty in voices.
Beyoncé is a better vocalist than Adele... Idk why people are bringing up Adele as if she's the face of pop music vocals... Adle has an amazing voice & has amazing music but she's become overrated now for her vocals... She has a distinctive voice but she's a B+ rated vocalist Whereas Beyoncé is a Star rated vocalist ... Many music critics around the globe consider Beyoncé as the best vocalist in R&B genre.
I wouldn't call it a humiliation. They all sing super well, it's amazing and I love it. I'm 100% metal and only like 1% into pop, but still respect goes where respect is due.
Can say the same about Miley Cyrus. Never cared for her in pop, especially in her 'acting out' years, but her rock and country covers she's done are really good. She should have been a front woman for a band.
Entrophany I have thought that many times! If Christina focused on making great music instead of pop that would sell records she’d be the voice of a generation. Commercial music limited her. That’s what I think anyway 🤷♂️
Floor Jansen the lead singer of the band Nightwish are often in the debate to are the best female singer on the planet right now bacause of her versability and complete control, metal, pop, growl, grit, and crazy high belting and live she was at her best
Very unfair to compare these 2 extremely different genres, I'm 100% a metal fan, but Adeles vocal range is fantastic and if she wanted to she could easily take to singing in a metal band but she has no need to, she's at the top of her game and is hugely successful with the music she makes, not bad for a down to earth, working glass girl from Tottenham is it really.
Honestly, my least favourite aspect of metal-fandom is always the over-emphasis placed on technical proficiency.. and I love heavy music. Sure it's "impressive" and all, but the most technical, mindbogglingly virtuosic performances can still leave the listener bored or fall completely flat for one simple reason: music/art is not a meritocracy. Music as an art form is not about admiring skill, it is about conveying emotion. Make. Me. Feel. Something! Make me choke up and try to hold back tears. Yes, metal often brings with it a wide range of dynamics and can convey a huge breadth of emotion.. but it isn't automatic, and it has nothing to do with technical-ability or skill. I've been brought to tears or given chills by nothing but a simple acoustic-guitar / piano part and an honest/raw vocal performance. Sometimes just by an instrumental. Technical ability and virtuosity are only worth anything if they serve the song, and the emotional intent of the music.. otherwise it's just a long way to go to show off. /rant.
Not every musician writes a piece yo convey an emotion or story or message. Sometimes people write a song just because they like a particular sound they can make with an instrument. That's actually the origin of the Pink Floyd song "Echoes", a new piece of equipment created a different reverb with an electric guitar and a song was written around incorporating that sound
@@stevennagy6341 It's kind of the same thing. A person likes a particular sound because it creates a certain positive feeling inside of themselves. That pretty much describes what an emotion is fairly well don't you think? An emotion isn't just love, joy, sadness, grief, peace, fear, gratitude, appreciation etc. It is really any positive or negative feeling someone has. So when you like a particular sound it creates a feeling of pleasure.
Yeah this is why I can't listen to Steve Vai or Engwe Maulmstein for too long. They are undoubtedly two of the most technically proficient guitarists in the game, but listening to constant 'Widdling' gets boring quickly, they both suck as song-writers, in my opinion.
In my opinion that is how usually Metal convey their emotions, loud drumming as if they are having a mental breakdown and some gibberish loud screaming, I just fucking love it But THERE are Metal songs out there that I sure do not like as well, because they are too consistent with their hardcoreness I usually like it when there is just at least a calming part in a metal song then it just bursts out to some intense shits, that way the listener cannot get bored.... But I do listen to Bands whose songs are just full on hardcore, like Xavleg or Infant Annihilator, Converge, etc But that is because their screams are my favorite types of scream The thing I do not like about pop is that they cannot do things like that, things that give you a mental breakdown and just headbang to let all the stress out Pop is just..slow, people can cry over their songs but...it’s just not as intense as I want it to be, y’know? But don’t get me wrong dude, I listen to shit like Muse and I love them, I like their melancholic rock kind of style, I dig it But usually from pop I just...I dunno What I’m saying here is that Metal is not all about skill, that is just how they convey their emotions Metal is all about energy, and if they deliver their emotions, they deliver it strong I guess same goes with pop, but, uh.. Yeah..just don’t dig it But I do understand why pop listeners dislike Metal, because it’s got “no melody” and all that But...whatever, chaos is my music
Music is great melodies being put together to make a sound you enjoy listening to. Talking about emotions and crap is just as bad as talking about technique being everything.
Amen, my cow bro. Amen. Or is that a yak? I know my cows, that image is very small and hard to make out. It's wrecking my ability to make bad puns and dad jokes. Two cows walk into a bar. The first says Moo. The seconds also says Moo. The bartender says... Not sure what I expected. Dadman... AWAY!
Metal singers often have classical music training background or opera background and opera is also not very often listened to or uppreciated but hopfully it can be more appreciated if more metal singers cross over and bring their voices into the mainstream. All genres should be heard on mainstreaming services
I dont want to disrespect other artists but every singer has their own technique to perform their music. Hence, why there are different genres that fits their style and fashion. Adele, Floor, Tarja, Gaga, they're all super talented singers.
But Floor floors them all 😁😛... she can literally sing anything even better than original... I can dare say that her cover of Whitney Houston's iconic "I will always love you" will be better than the original..
@@heavymetal116 exept floor can't sing nemo or wishmaster or wunderlust or Sacrament of Wilderness or sleeping sun or she is my sin etc like tarja :) don't get me wrong i love floor but you floor fan boys and girls are ruining nightwish with you bullshit so pls stop.
@@alfredoooooooooooooooooooooooo nothing humiliating in that, either. There's a reason if they're singers and i do another job. People today use the word "humiliating" far too easily.
@@MrGul idk, if he really wanted to humiliate the pop artists, he would have shown that one time Christina Aguilera did the national anthem instead of her killing it singing Ave Maria. And when Ariana Grande was singing at the VMAs and her earpiece died, so she couldn't hear the music to keep rhythm. That time Adele was singing someone else's song by her audience's request and forgot the words. There were a lot of chances to show actual embarrassing performances; I think he gave them a fair shot.
The thing with Floor, Tarja and Simone is that they're all classically trained, and you can HEAR it. And to think, symphonic metal is still just taking form. The future is bright (or dark, depending on how you want to look at it).
It takes more than being classically trained. It also takes the talent to create the songs that use the vocal styles that will impress people. For instance, Star Search showed that Britney Spears could sing well, but no songs were written for her to showcase that talent.
I wouldn't say that Lady Gaga was humiliated. Unlike many other pop singers, she is a great musician. She actually studied music and has a profound knowledge of music theory. Don't forget that she is the composer of Shallow.
does shallow have any key changes or is it diatonic? seriously interested as a well composed song will have at ln the very least, one key change. remember youre talking composition here, not style. i hope it does have one, shes talented but there are levels. its like calling ed sheeran great. no, he just uses the same chord formula in a different key and writes lyrics people relate to. if youre talking composer then j.s. bach is the god tier, we are all below him but these pop artists cant touch the sides. even if they wanted to, the industry wouldnt allow it, hence it is puppet music.
@@terrybanks5063 you're forgetting Tuomas Holopainen from nightwish , just listen to "the greatest show on earth" you have to be verry close to Bach if you want to compose that kind of song. Or sleeping sun. There are not many of song writers Who can Write or even compose such sungs i think Lady Gaga is good in her genre(her genre is verry wide) but you can never compare metal with pop .
@@AngelesBustamanteM Adele is far from the best in pop. She is overrated as a vocalist. People think she is a good singer only because she sings ballads and that makes her stand out in the pop industry. People like Beyoncé, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga, etc. eat her up vocally. I'm not saying Adele is bad, but she's far from the best singer in pop. Her vocal range is very limited and her technique is not the best either. She tends to sing with a lot of restriction and adds strain on her vocal chords.
@@AngelesBustamanteM I add Saron Den Adel to the metal side even since she didn't had professional training, and on the pop side its just Morissette Amon actually.
Luckily this doesn't happen inside the metal scene... Oh, wait... Yes, I listen to Metal and go to concerts and festivals. No, I'm not the angry looking guy in the back who is too true for the pit...
Definitely this. Also, cherry picking clips of live pop vocal performances which don't represent the singers' full capabilities, then putting those against the best examples of the metal singers, is a pretty low thing to do.
U can see it the style of writing the music. Pop music lays the focus on the focals where in metal a vocalist has to "fight" to be heard above the guitars drums and base. And ofc all the other instruments used
Captain Fantastic Sorry but not really, as much as I love our metal ladies. Ariana Grande is actually a thousand years better than Simone Simons from Epica, Simone isn’t as terrible as some people try to make her look like, but Simone doesn’t have a very good live technique, doing metal does not make anyone superior on any level.
Captain Fantastic LMAO I’m definitely not, I’ve known Epica and Symphonic Metal in general since 2007 and I have seem them live 6 times. Simone has not get ant better from where she was in 2007-08, Ariana is barely a kid, I don’t even listen to her music but she has a lot of time to improve and become even better, musical genre has nothing to do with quality, but most metalheads didn’t grow up from their high school years to understand that.
Lady Gaga can't be humiliated xD she's incredibly good with her voice. She's probably the only one in this list who can keep up with the best metal frontwomen.
The best metal singers are amazing, so are the best pop singers. Some of the best Metal women are classically trained which, I think, gives them a level of skill that most pop singers have no hope of matching. It is part of why I like metal. The best metal is quite complex and very well played. Pop is typically pretty shallow and simple music.
Right. I wouldn't say that pop singers don't have the talent to sing on the same level. They just get limited by their music. The challenge is what makes metal singers more versatile. The music forces them to learn the techniques and to master different styles.
Pop use to be more challenging. The problem with pop is it's about labels selling music and nobody buys enough music anymore that the labels don't actually spend time making stars.
vocally no, i love rock and punk but some of the pop singers have better techniques than most metal singers have. If you know how to sing you will understand it,
You are right about that. I don't think you can find an Olivia Newton John in this era when it comes to Pop. It's more about image and making money. I never thought Beyonce or Katy Perry could sing worth 💩.
Heavy Metal & Symphonic Metal have some of the best female vocalist in the world....yet the pop music singers, who have to lip sync their songs because they can't sing while doing all their dancing! You want to hear great vocalists....check out Nightwish's Valkyrie Queen, Floor Jansen....or Within Temptations Sharon den Adel! No auto-tuned or lip sync vocal at one of their concerts!! These two happen to be my favorites, but I also listen to most of the other bands listed.
I'm a metal fan, but this video proves absolutely nothing. Pop is a different singing style, so is metal and classical. And each of these styles have a different (complicated) technique. Its unfair to say, that all pop singers are bad singers (ariana grande is highly skilled in belting) and that all metal singers are good singers. Its just not that black and white.
The only thing it proves to me is that, sadly, a lot of metalheads still play the childish game of "metal is better than pop". And all the trashtalking about pop idols. Like damn... Just makes me sad
True. Adele's and Lady Gaga's voice scope is amazing. But if you take them out what's left? I do admit I don't know how Ariana sounds - every pop song is the same for me when it comes on the radio, I just switch to ignore and suffer mode if I cannot switch the radio off. But your comment is the only one that makes sense with one small comment of my own. The style is totally different, while the style of pop music is to serve to the voice - the metal voice sometimes has to fight with the music for supremacy
@@vedrangrudenic3228 I can totally resonate with what you said. I'm a real singing and music nerd, i do pop music of my own, i also sing in a metal band AND study classical and musical singing in a theater academy. I analyzed a lot of music, and i think the main issue with pop music is that its most of the time so annoyingly overproduced and uncreative. I feel like the main issue lies within the industry itself, and the focus on making money as fast as possible. There are SO many good pop singers out there, who are mere vocal athletes (Like Ariana Grande) who arent the main problem of this genre. And i hate that people like some angry metalheads cant acknowlegde that. Any trained vocalist can hear that this little woman has a control over her voice like... fuuuck. Would i roote for Floor Jansen in a Vocal Battle agains Ariana Grande? Hell Yes! But i can atleast give her (or any other good vocalist in a different genre) credit for her skills.

The main difference between pop and rock/metal bands. Pop singers often use recordings and lipsynch or sing to basically karaoke. Metal/rock bands. Play thier own instruments. Legitimately sing thier own songs THEY wrote. There is no comparison. Normally in a live performance pop singers sound nothing like thier prerecorded and edited selves. Rock/metal bands you can't really ever tell a difference unless they change a tune in the spur of the moment. I'm not saying pop singers can't sing. Just saying they are cheesy performers.
There's actually some "pop" artists on this list like Adele or Lady Gaga, that I thoroughly enjoy listen to. And that even though I'd definitely call myself a metal chick. They sound different, but they're still good singers.
Metal head of 30+ years here, and if anything this video actually caused me to acknowledge that not all pop singers are garbage. Metal fans already know that metal singers are fucking amazing. This video should be for the mainstream pop fans who have no idea what metal vocalists can do.

You have to respect the ability of many of these high end pop divas, even if, like me, you aren't into their music. I think a lot of it comes down to a couple different points, and the first leads into the second: 1. The emphasize different things. For example, while metal most certainly doesn't shy away from spectacle, there's a higher premium placed on the music and musicianship. I think pop often reverses that priority, thought that's not to say musical ability isn't obviously very important as well. 2. I think those priorities result in metal often being more challenging music. The endless sub-genres of metal and how it's (and metalheads themselves have) embraced folk elements and opera style vocals are just the tip of the iceberg of evidence. Not everyone, but it seems like a lot of metalheads are genuinely interested in hearing new things. Pop music is just safe. Digestible. That doesn't mean it's bad, it is what it sets out to be, and that's just fine, but I find it boring.
As someone who grew up listening to and playing metal, I've been listening to more pop than metal anymore. There's just as much innovation in pop, the problem is that most metalheads immediately write it off because they only hear the pop on the radio. There's a whole world of amazing pop that's just under the surface of the top 40, but no one ever tries to dig deep enough to hear it And I would also argue that there is just as much innovation and progression in pop as there is metal, they are just focusing on progressing different things than most metal
@@brendangibson8200 Please give me some examples, I'd be interested to hear some good not top 40 music, I know a fair amount of smaller bands and artists and have a list of about 100 or so right now that I need to get to, but I'm always up to hear more.
@Guardian Well, Blues, Rock and The Motown' Disco too. Excuse me, i've expressed wrong, I really refered to the actual music, especifically in metal.
I must point out that when one compares two vastly different musical genres, you will get vastly different results. That said, female vocalists is what we're analyzing here. The pop vocalists performed decently, but never pushed their voices out of their tessitura, that is, their comfortable singing range (I may have spelled that word wrong). Nothing wrong with that, but it results in a fairly nondescript performance of fairly average quality. I think Adele was the best offering pop had. The metal vocalists, by contrast, utilized the entirety of their vocal range (head voice, chest voice, falsetto, and even growls), and they also seemed to utilize vocal projection more, resulting in a naturally louder and more powerful sound (no surprise considering that they have to compete with a fully amped band). No surprise, the metal vocalists did much better.
The fact with this is that, often female metal singers are capable to sing Feminine an flawlessly sometimes even like opera singers and other times they just go all metal with growl scream and vocal fry, the fact is that those things require a lot of tecnique, with added to a normale singer makes it more complete and therefore incredibily outstanding on stage
@@hopewonder i said like, but i think i expressed my self badly, i didn't mean exactly like them, obviously i know that you Need years of tought training to sing opera, all i am saying Is that they sound a bit like them, never intended to say they could do opera or that their voice Is as strong as a opera singer
I feel like some of the pop singers are actually pretty talented, but I can hardly stomach most of the genre. Christina and Adele have pretty great voices in particular, and they deserve the accolades they've received. I think it would be really interesting to see them attempt to cross genres into metal, either on a show modeled after Beste Zangers or in a crossover appearance with an existing band. That said, Tarja, Floor, Simone, etc are so far up there at the top of the game that it's unfair to hold anyone against that standard. They're classically trained vocalists with a load of talent who are just in a different league. Symphonic metal is a whole different animal, and the bar for quality of singing has been set so high; the ladies at the forefront are some of the best voices on earth. I do wish Cristina from Lacuna Coil had been mentioned though; she has a really rich tone that I always loved.
TBH this was a great comparison of the newer top Pop Singers who hold their ground fairly well when 'live', but they overdo that auto-tune thing, which pales when the Metal Queens ramp up their techniques eg. Tarja, Alissa, Angela, Floor, Sharon, Simone, etc These ladies simply annihilate the competition & as we all know, there's a helluva lot of female talent in the Metal industry...IMO
And we only touched on the talent, Anneke, Charlotte, Tatiana, Courtney, Sharon, Melissa. Quite apart from the fact that you could have put any ten pop princesses up against Floor the Goddess in any style they wanted or purely on stage presence and its like a candle to the Sun. This is not even fair its Mohammed Ali/Cassius Clay in a boxing bout against, well me. Also Brittney as Isaiah points out must be included.
Watching the metal gals perform, you see what you're getting - no autotune, no post production, they lay it out every time. What you see, er, HEAR, is what you get. Even the more production oriented ones (like Exit Eden). These women can sing their asses off. GENERALLY with a wider effective range than their pop counterparts (with exceptions - Adele, Christina(?)). Floor can deliver a heart ripping version of Shallow. Can Gaga pull off that 6 second high note at the end of Ghost Love Score? Or echo Floor or Tarja in their amazing renditions of Phantom of The Opera? Metal. All the way.
@Tsumuro Nah, I'm thinking more like autotune. Clearest example would be Taylor Swift (live) at the grammys, years back. Totally different sound from the recordings my daughter was listening to. Compare that to … Elan on stage vs. Elan on album - Floor actually sounds a little BETTER on stage, into it, etc. Any of Floor's performances on Beste Zangers (unless THEY pulled post production on the live performances). Tarja and Marco singing Phantom of The Opera. Exit Eden, Rhapsodies in Black, vs. Exit Eden, live on stage. Etc. Point being, the Metal gals on stage seem to (consistently) sound a lot better, in comparison to their recorded offerings, than most of the pop gals do. Stage production notwithstanding. And, of course, IMHO.
Christina’s got a five octave range and is pretty solid with her distortion technique. I’d honestly like to hear her tackle more rock (and even take a stab at metal) in the future.
@@TheRealMarkBoehm Christina is actually one of the better 'pop tarts' to come out of Disney (vs. Britney, for example). You can tell she has the voice, with or without adjustment. Some others I've noticed: Adele, a lot of the PostModern Jukebox crew - Haley Reinhart, Sara Niemitz, Ariana Savalas (although they don't have the vocal range of a Floor, or Tarja, or Christina - they still sound good, stage or recording), Lzzy Hale (although she's kind of metal, so…).
Listen to Lady Gaga’s performances from the Howard Stern show. It’s just her and the piano and she hits everything flawlessly. There’s no auto tune. She’s not metal but the woman can sing.
@@ringofdragons9239 every one have the right to say ,i can sing .but sing ..from scream ....its miles away..that media poppets. Are only for use of their popganda...(personal choice is respected.)
I am a discohead but I like many music styles and would say this: there are some good singers in pop: Gaga, Ariana, Christina, Beyoncé, Adele maybe, but to be famous in pop, you can be just an average singer - Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Taylor, Llana del Rey, Selena Gomez etc. There are other amazing singers who are much better than all of the named ones like Angelina Jordan, Haley Reinhart, Morgan James. And in rock/metal music - my actual vocal crush - Floor Jansen and Gabriela Gunčíková ♥♥♥
Floor Jansen above them all honestly. But as far as the pop singers go, christina aguilara is probably the most talented of them all and i could see her doing metal as well.
i will vote for the Metal Goddesses. To be able hit those notes at such octaves is mind blowing. I luv how Floor Jansen sang "Shallow" .Razor sharp & precise like an assassin. Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enmey has bone chilling howls & screams ,that still to this day. Makes the hair stand up,on the back of my neck. \m/
I wasn't a huge fan of her at first (I saw her as an opening act once before she became big, I thought it was Madonna lol). But after reading up on her bio, she has tons of street cred. She started music at age 4, went to school in NY, and writes her own music. That I admire.
Oh come on. I'm a huge metal fan, but one can't compare the calm section of Adele's hello with any song. Most of those metal singers would have trouble singing some of her songs with the same power and vibe (Yes, Floor included)

In my opinion that is how usually Metal convey their emotions, loud drumming as if they are having a mental breakdown and some gibberish loud screaming, I just fucking love it
But THERE are Metal songs out there that I sure do not like as well, because they are too consistent with their hardcoreness
I usually like it when there is just at least a calming part in a metal song then it just bursts out to some intense shits, that way the listener cannot get bored....
But I do listen to Bands whose songs are just full on hardcore, like Xavleg or Infant Annihilator, Converge, etc
But that is because their screams are my favorite types of scream
The thing I do not like about pop is that they cannot do things like that, things that give you a mental breakdown and just headbang to let all the stress out
Pop is just..slow, people can cry over their songs but...it’s just not as intense as I want it to be, y’know?
But don’t get me wrong dude, I listen to shit like Muse and I love them, I like their melancholic rock kind of style, I dig it
But usually from pop I just...I dunno
What I’m saying here is that Metal is not all about skill, that is just how they convey their emotions
Metal is all about energy, and if they deliver their emotions, they deliver it strong
I guess same goes with pop, but, uh..
Yeah..just don’t dig it
But I do understand why pop listeners dislike Metal, because it’s got “no melody” and all that
But...whatever, chaos is my music
Music is great melodies being put together to make a sound you enjoy listening to. Talking about emotions and crap is just as bad as talking about technique being everything.
Putting Floor Jansen against ANYBODY is just unfair competition.
Amen, my cow bro. Amen. Or is that a yak? I know my cows, that image is very small and hard to make out. It's wrecking my ability to make bad puns and dad jokes.

You misspelled Tarja

Amén, tan solo escuchar ave María con c. Aguilera es como escuchar a Rob Schneider

Definitely this. Also, cherry picking clips of live pop vocal performances which don't represent the singers' full capabilities, then putting those against the best examples of the metal singers, is a pretty low thing to do.
There’s a simple explanation for this:
Pop tends to attract divas who want attention. Metal tends to attract artists who love what they do 🤷♂️
U can see it the style of writing the music. Pop music lays the focus on the focals where in metal a vocalist has to "fight" to be heard above the guitars drums and base. And ofc all the other instruments used
And of course, so many pop singers don't even write their own music unlike metal bands.

Why can't we enjoy music for what it is instead of the selfish ego we have about them compared to other music?

Its a no-brainer, Metal wins! The "pop" stars will never achieve anything like what the metal gals can do,

I dont compare Adele to mainstream pop. She is a force. But I LOVE all these metal ladies, especially Floor. I am a metal fan for the largest part.
Yea Adele is decent.
Adele is mainstream pop though.
@@robertomangani3788 She compose meaningful ballads and she doesn't need auto-tune.

To be fair, I would give a metal album with Lady Gaga a listen. Like or hate her pop music, she is an amazing musician

You have to respect the ability of many of these high end pop divas, even if, like me, you aren't into their music. I think a lot of it comes down to a couple different points, and the first leads into the second:
Agree. Adele voice is good. Im metal fan, but i like adele. Skyfall is masterpiece.
Thank you for sharing an open minded opinion 🙏🙏🙏
@@markokumpulainen8742 the band "Our Last Night" did a Skyfall cover. Check it out it's good. And yes Adeles version is good and she has a nice voice.
As someone who grew up listening to and playing metal, I've been listening to more pop than metal anymore. There's just as much innovation in pop, the problem is that most metalheads immediately write it off because they only hear the pop on the radio. There's a whole world of amazing pop that's just under the surface of the top 40, but no one ever tries to dig deep enough to hear it
And I would also argue that there is just as much innovation and progression in pop as there is metal, they are just focusing on progressing different things than most metal
@@brendangibson8200 Please give me some examples, I'd be interested to hear some good not top 40 music, I know a fair amount of smaller bands and artists and have a list of about 100 or so right now that I need to get to, but I'm always up to hear more.

No matter the genre, they all did it great!
All of them are amazing. They have beautiful voices in their own style. Diversity gives us lots of musical surprises! ❤
Lacuna coil is the shit. I absolutely love them.
Metal has Floor... the contest is not even close to be fair. It's ended, right there. Game Over. Floor

Floor is amazing, but ariana grande? Yeah, they both great.
TBH this was a great comparison of the newer top Pop Singers who hold their ground fairly well when 'live', but they overdo that auto-tune thing, which pales when the Metal Queens ramp up their techniques eg. Tarja, Alissa, Angela, Floor, Sharon, Simone, etc
These ladies simply annihilate the competition & as we all know, there's a helluva lot of female talent in the Metal industry...IMO
Any pop artist againt mrs. FLOOR JANSEN HAS NO CHANCE
That's a great analogy. Pop princesses and Metal Goddesses
Add Brittney Slayes to that list, and I'd be inclined to agree with you.
@@isaiahwelch8066 100% already noted that omission and felt bad about it.
Don't you mean _the_ 8-second note with variance, during GLS? 😅😅😅
@Tsumuro Nah, I'm thinking more like autotune.
Clearest example would be Taylor Swift (live) at the grammys, years back. Totally different sound from the recordings my daughter was listening to.
Compare that to …
Elan on stage vs.
@@isaiahwelch8066 That note is the Official Floorgasm Note! :D

Alissa perfect singers, pop dont music.

Metal singers have greater range and clarity. Better annunciation of the syllables and sharper transitions. Watch and listen again with these in mind.
And in rock/metal music - my actual vocal crush - Floor Jansen and Gabriela Gunčíková ♥♥♥

i will vote for the Metal Goddesses. \m/
I actually like lady Gaga’s voice when she’s not all synth’d up. I think she’s a fairly great singer.
I wasn't a huge fan of her at first (I saw her as an opening act once before she became big, I thought it was Madonna lol). But after reading up on her bio, she has tons of street cred. She started music at age 4, went to school in NY, and writes her own music. That I admire.
*Real Title: Pop vs Pop Metal singers.*
Oh come on. I'm a huge metal fan, but one can't compare the calm section of Adele's hello with any song. Most of those metal singers would have trouble singing some of her songs with the same power and vibe (Yes, Floor included)
Adele has trouble singing it now also

Floor Jansen has always been my favorite female vocalist
GAH such a great line-up of metal ladies! I've seen Epica play live as well! That girl can SING! 😍
My dude! Check out Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage! 😩
There is truly no comparison!
I don't want to sound too judgemental here, however don't you think that a proper comparison should involve either similar songs sang by both pop and metal artists (such as Shallow), or at least similar sort of vocals (as similar as it could get)?
There are good and bad pop singers, and there are good and bad metal singers!
You cannot tell me someone can humiliate Adele with singing ability. She has one of the most perfect voices I've ever heard.
