Depressing fact about the blame canada oscars performance by Robin Williams - he actually dedicated the performance for Mary Kay Bergman. While she wasn't as iconic as other cartoon voice actors, Mary was heavily involved in the world of voice acting. We're talking Daphne Blake from the original scooby doo movies, imitating celebrities such as Jodie Foster and Emma Thompson, Timmy Turner, a hell load of Simpsons and Disney characters, Captain Planet and the Planeteers... She even was supposed to sing the whole of Pretty Fly for a Rabbi by Weird Al (which is hilarious tome considering she's jewish). So she voices all the female characters of South Park until 1999 and sings the now iconic Blame Canada. She does a brillant job and it certainly wasn't easy. But sadly, she commits suicide before the Oscars began. So Robin Williams sings it instead.
I saw the performance live, and I can't find it anywhere. The Academy, as far as I know, doesn't record and upload any full performances, or even the movie clips they show during the nominations. It's so annoying.

There’s also an anime that references South Park, Yuri On Ice. One of the character’s has a flashback where his kid self is wearing Cartman’s outfit, and South Park does a nod back by showing Yuri On Ice in Ike’s browser history. Big fan of both, so it was really cool to see. Great video.
I feel sorry for the kid who left the note saying “watch south park and you’ll know why” and then everyone else missed the point so hard they banned it instead.
With the Stick of Truth censorship, the censorship wasn't forced by the European or Australian game ratings boards, it was forced by Ubisoft who didn't want any sort of controversy
It was always strange to me because the idea that Europe has stricter censorship is just not true. Not only is stuff like that completely up to the decision of every individual country but most countries in Europe have given up on any sort of censorship since the fucking 90s. Even Wolfenstein's new trilogy had the swastikas censored out by Bethesda's choice despite Germany having a full law that allows nazi imagery and subject matter in media and art.
Block 13 isn’t actually a knockoff! The creators of B13 did indeed get special permission by Comedy Central to make this Arabic adaptation, because South Park was actually banned in the Arab World/Middle East. On a side note, Block 13 has a reboot called “Street 13” that came out in 2022 (albeit very obscure). You should’ve added Zlikavci to the iceberg as well, it’s an infamous Croatian talk show that triggered a bunch of SP fans for how it’s first season looked like the older seasons, however it has no correlation to South Park and is simply a talk show that some people have said is a ripoff. There are more DELIBERATE ripoffs however. The Adventures of Gracie-Lou, Toyer Al-Jannah, and Chiki Tings are the most infamous ones for copying the artstyle heavily (Toyer Al-Jannah’s ripoff has no correlation to Block 13). Chiki Tings is a Filipino animated webseries that also copies the artstyle, and Gracie-Lou is just nursery rhymes… With the SP artstyle as well. Nobody knows why they are copying SP a lot.
how is toyor al janah a ripoff of south park? the only resemblances between their artstyle is the big round eyes and the simple artstyle but that’s it. Even the eyes don’t look like the way south park draw them, they draw them like eggs while toyor al janah draw them like circles
fucking christ man i'm croatian and i remember seeing Zlikavci on late night tv when i was in middle school, it didn't last all that long as a show (probably because there was another comedy sketch show on tv at the same time called Večernja Škola (Nigh School) that raked in higher ratings) i also remember a bunch of catholibans trying to ban the show for obvious reasons, but yeah i haven't thought about it for a long long time
When i first watched South Park from start to finish, my dad had me skip the Pip special. I asked why a few years later, thinking it was really bad or something. He just said it was painfully boring and didn't want to sit through it with me
THAT EPISODE MADE ME WANT TO RUN AWAY IT WAS SO BORING BUT I HAD TO WATCH IT BC I LOVE THSI SHOW BUT IT MADE ME WSNT TO RIP MY HAIR OUT. I SKIPPED ALL THE PARTS WITH THE IRL PERSON TALKING BC HE PISSED ME OFF.
I think if remember right, Issac Hayes was a scientologist and at the time south park was going hard into scientology. Scientology got Hayes to quit and south park killed him off. I heard Hayes gave south park an ultimatum and south park said they're going thru with the episode.
The trick with the Aristocrats joke is that it also tests charisma and keeping the crowd. If you can keep the crowd with you while telling the joke, you're telling it right
Wow, I had to look this up and found this on the Beavis and Butthead fandom page: The mother later claimed that her son watched one of the fire-related segments shortly before he burned down the home. However, neighbors claimed that the family didn't even have cable television, and was unable to view the show. [...] In 2008, Messner (who was 20 years old at the time) came forward with his side of the controversy "I literally NEVER saw the cartoon. How could I? It was 1993, my Mom was a drug addict. We couldn't afford cable!" At the time, he did not care about making this message publicly because he "did not care for social media" but in 2019, Messner wanted people (including series creator Mike Judge) to know about his side of the story. He claims he never saw an episode and he does not plan to because of this tragic incident. Sounds like some drug addict accidentally killed her daughter and blamed her son. That is just awful.

How is the Token / Tolkien gaslighting not on here? In the episode "Wing" he clearly signs his own name as Token. Also it appears written that way in other episodes
You could argue that the 'Token' spelling is due to him not being good at spelling, since he is young. But that is really implausible considering its a) his own name, and b) he pays attention in school
For those unaware: the Hit and Run clone was cancelled due to crunch and no central direction. The Lead Dev would call other devs at night to spew brainstorms. Which led to way too much needing to be done, so it got cut.
I remember when I was younger there was kind of like this small sub community on UA-cam, it was basically a bunch of young south park fans making their own version of south park. Most of them did this by using stop motion to create the characters and they were in the same art style as south park. From what I remember there were only like 5 channels that did this and these videos all of them knew their existence, it was quite cool seeing these people do their own version of south park, sadly most of the videos are deleted some have been re-uploaded but most of them are quite rare to re-watch and you have to look quite deep and I think some of the users who have created these series are deleted or inactive but some are still on UA-cam and active :)

One note: The Aristocrats has also historically been used as a piece of social commentary that basically just says "the upper class is oftentimes more deplorable and foul than they claim people under them to be " and it'll likely still be told for a *really* long time
Here in Australia, we had the original Cheesy Poofs (the box one from the 90s) available in regular stores. I damn near lost my mind when I saw a box at a petrol station!
As a ginger who was in highschool at the time, I can confirm it happened. Got knocked down by the schools front doors and kicked by a group of guys who though it was hilarious. There was also a lot of like “haha I nudge you with my foot teehee you got kicked.” As well as just randomly getting rocked in the hallway. It was bad enough that I just didn’t go to school on nov 20th from my last 2 years of school.
U missed my favorite one, Cartman knows Kenny’s immortal because he drank his ashes way back when Kenny was still dead. In the cartman land episode cartman references Kenny dying all the time and some people theorize it’s because cartman also saw Kenny’s memories from when he’d die
I mean that's kind of considered non-canon by the community since that was waaaay before they actually explained Kenny dying all the time and after that Cartman never mentioned it again
@@DonDadda45 and when he sent his friends to the dark city of whatever in the chithulu episodes Kenny offed himself and came back and cartman was shocked because he knew he vanished him into a dark oblivion
That was a great, deep insight into the South Park iceberg. I also remember an old game called 'Kill Kenny' on the subject of flash games. It was made around 1998/1999 at the peak of the original seasons. I have no idea who designed it or where it came from but I always remembered playing it as a kid where you have to dodge knives being thrown from Stan, Kyle, and Cartman
For an extra addition to add. During my entry years in the fandom around 2007-ish, i used to roam around on SP forums and fan sites. One funny little fact that seem to get lost or overlooked is that one of the kids in the class were named Dogpoop. Not sure if they vanished, i stopped watching the show after a while.
Still a background character afaik but doesn't do anything. I replayed stick of truth recently and you can get him as Facebook friend collectible there and he is named Dogpoop there too same goes for the subtitles when you talk to him. I don't know if it was in an episode or my mind making this up right now but I feel like I remember seeing a scene of characters asking something like "who the f are you even? You never do anything" after he said something? Or was at some type of gathering? For anyone else reading this not knowing which character this is it's the dude seen in the background of many episodes with the patch of dirt on his face with an overall mostly brown colour scheme and light skin
Im from Germany and when I first played stick of truth it was so annoying having to fight against enemy’s who are halfway covered with a black censor block. 😑
@@canaldamia8393 Yes, because the nazi swastika is actually a forbidden symbol in Germany. There are only a few exceptions where the use is allowed (e.g. science, art, education).

My theory on why the MacFarlane figures went unreleased: The crew *obviously* hates Family Guy, right? Who's the creator of Family Guy? Not only both of those, there's also a show called "M.K 22". I didn't do much research but it's also called the israeli version of South Park. Note: Don't get confused by the same art style, its goal wants to make the jokes look more like South Park.

Probably late and someone has probably brought this up, but given Pip's Skull was labeled as a throwable, it's likely that it would've been one of the New Kid's ranged weapons in the game. Logically it would've probably been obtained in the Land of the Dead, a cemetery area guarded by Vampire Kids, both of which were also cut from the game, but exist in the files.
i had no idea the goth kids had their own little scrapped area, damn! i really hope they work that into the upcoming south park game along with pip’s skull if it’s gonna be another battle / fighting-esque game, but at the same time three roleplay games in a row would be a bit exhausting. i love pip and the goth kids, pete especially. so that’d be awesome.
23:12 i just went to the kings home game against the blue jackets recently! they had a little short of cartman killing kenny, and then he started chanting "go kings go!" and the whole crowd joined in!
You’re correct South Park airs on Much. It used to be called Much Music and was basically our equivalent of MTV, but much like that network it’s devolved from playing music videos to just regular programming. Just thinking about it now I can’t remember the last time a saw a music video on there. Gotta be at least 2 or 3 years and even then it was only at like 4 in the morning. In the 90’s-late 2000’s it originally aired on the sensibly named “The Comedy Network”, and you can venture a guess as to which network it’s the Canadian equivalent of, lol. It’s also a sister station to Much, among other networks, so eventually with rearranging airing schedules over the years the show eventually somehow made its way onto its current home on Much. Hope that helps!
@@Stiffmeister-yu8jr yeah I specifically remember early high school days staying up late to watch and get turned on to all the awesome metal on Much Loud, back when it was a show before they split off into their own network of the same name. Or just sitting around and watching Countdown or something. Not sure if those sister stations (Loud, Retro, etc) are even still around anymore, but yes I agree those were indeed the good old days, and if they did ever play a show it would still be something music related like Beavis and Butthead, or Al Music (instead of Al TV which is cool that he would come over here to do and another example of a Canadian equivalent, lol) when Weird Al would take over the studio for the week. I remember getting a few of my requests read on Much On Demand as a kid as well. I had that Much membership card that they had too where you could get discounts at the record store and they had the contest where if you were a member you could win a Much Dance party for your school and they’d bring all their high end sound equipment and stage effects, always looked so cool. Then they started playing movies, mostly at night, but at least they were usually cool counter culture movies like Wayne’s World or whatever but then slowly just started adding more and more non music programming until you get what you have today. Sadly probably because it’s cheaper to just air a bunch of shit rather than having to pay people to host the shows and upkeep for the studio spaces, as well as paying for the music artists to come perform and/or give interviews not to mention getting the rights to play all the music videos among other things. PS- Nice username, lol
Hey Blooms, great contents. I rarely leave comments on UA-cam but your video finally made me do it. As well as your voice easy to understand, and jokes are actually enjoyable unlike so many other channels having forced and unnatural memes and interjections. Looking forward to future contents.
I have a theory for the cartman stan plush, it's a possibility that they had planned an episode in which stan gained enough weight to look like cartman, but scrapped early enough for only 2 plushes to reach the public
@@dieselfry they was lying they clearly already had it since someone would of realised it’s value , plus it wouldn’t be in perfect condition with a tag on like the one he had
The figures at 46 mins actually exist! I used to have the Wendy one. I’m remember going to casa Bonita and seeing little South Park characters. Of course at the time I had thought a little kid threw a toy up there but now that I know what they actually are, it’s really cool to look back on!
30:15 the joke's even more interesting than that, there is a large element to it being used as an exercise. The trick is not only to be as offensive as possible, but for every piece to be used and for it to make "logical" sense. For (a vague, censored) example, if you have the wife using both of her hands to hold up the dog who's 'with' the son, you can't then have her grabbing the husband's 'pole' without making her moving her hands away into a new element It's is a brilliant juxtaposition of absurdity and realism
Here's a Fun fact you forgot About This: When they Made Spirit Of Christmas and South Park, Kenny was Based off Matt and Trey's Student at Their School. It's because when Kenny was away from School His classmates thought He was Dead. (This can Most Likely be in your Iceberg but it's a nice little fun fact)

Something that i noticed is that here in italy we dont have some really important episode, such as the part two of that one episode with radiohead. But we have in fact some uncensored episode with alternative endings like the one with cartman at the bottom of the list. There are so much more but these are only few example. I find that extremely weird because I've watched all south park in the comedy central channel. Im very curios to see if in any other country is like that.
i assume its common knowledge, but haven't ever seen anyone say it in one of these videos and think it deserves a mention, but "Blame Canada" wasn't technically an original song despite being nominated as such. It was actually released about 3 years earlier as "In Canada" by BJ Snowden an outsider musician known mainly just in Canada at the time. look it up, its pretty bizarre, but undeniably more than just inspiration for the South Park song.
I remember being a kid and digging on the OLD internet for all the deepest South Park information in the late 90s/early 00s. I was (and am) a gigantic fan. But this goes far beyond my knowledge. There is no way I WOULDN'T subscribe after this.

just saying, Block 13 is a ADAPTATION of South Park in Kuwait, because the creator of Block 13 really loved South Park and was a huge fan, but unfortunately South Park was banned on Kuwait channels so he improvised and got permission by Comedy Central to make Block 13 a real thing.
Actually the real reason why they removed Eric's father and sister were removed it's because it made the episode too long at about 30 minutes and Comedy central is only allowed to air 22 minute episodes

You gotta love how the message of the show was "if you want people to be good to you, just threaten them with violence" and muslims were literally the only ones who did and it actually worked.
Kyle's speech at the end of 201 is obviously meant to be sarcastic. I doubt Matt and Trey genuinely advocate for violence. They're free speech activists and almost died because they felt they would be hypocrites if they censored themselves on a topic they 100% believed in. They were banned in China around 4 years ago because they openly criticized the Chinese govenment.

I honestly did not know she died before the Oscars.
Fucking hell that took a turn
I saw the performance live, and I can't find it anywhere. The Academy, as far as I know, doesn't record and upload any full performances, or even the movie clips they show during the nominations. It's so annoying.

With the Stick of Truth censorship, the censorship wasn't forced by the European or Australian game ratings boards, it was forced by Ubisoft who didn't want any sort of controversy
Ugh how annoying. I cried, heaving for air because I was laughing so hard at the abortion one haha
Imagine making a South Park game and wanting no controversy
It was always strange to me because the idea that Europe has stricter censorship is just not true. Not only is stuff like that completely up to the decision of every individual country but most countries in Europe have given up on any sort of censorship since the fucking 90s. Even Wolfenstein's new trilogy had the swastikas censored out by Bethesda's choice despite Germany having a full law that allows nazi imagery and subject matter in media and art.
If irony were made out of strawberries we'd all be drinking alot of smoothies
How do you make a South Park game without controversy if the show is known to do that
Like GTA and Rockstar in the past

Was I the only one who’d wake up at 3am to watch all the Much music videos they’d play for a few hours as a kid?💀 cuz man…those were the good days
TLDR

Something that i noticed is that here in italy we dont have some really important episode, such as the part two of that one episode with radiohead. But we have in fact some uncensored episode with alternative endings like the one with cartman at the bottom of the list. There are so much more but these are only few example. I find that extremely weird because I've watched all south park in the comedy central channel. Im very curios to see if in any other country is like that.
48:23 Easy to debunk, the man-bear-pig has only one ass, it's clearly not Mephesto's work 😂
i assume its common knowledge, but haven't ever seen anyone say it in one of these videos and think it deserves a mention, but "Blame Canada" wasn't technically an original song despite being nominated as such.
Not the reference to "A Serbian Film" ajfakjgfak. Incredible work ty
My school asked me to change out of my "screw you guys i'm going home" shirt bc it was inappropriate, while my classmate was literally wearing a 2nd amendment shirt depicting guns and violence. this was in upstate new york lol. south park's legacy is insane man
Neither shirt is bad...
@@joshuabroz i dont think wearing a shirt with a evil fatass saying "screw you guys im going home" is bad
@@joshuabroz ur not bright
second amendment is a right. if you get offended by that maybe you should go somewhere else.
@@zacknowles9711 shut up zac look at the hypocrisy don’t be a lil bitch
new blooms upload!!! i really love your south park videos i watch them as i draw:) even if you discontinue your south park content ill still be here
Thank you, Blooms, for making a south park iceberg video! south park has been one of my biggest hyperfixations for ages so i love re watching this video :D
My favorite kind of videos are long videos that cover topics I love because it's almost like a visual podcast. Can't wait to watch this one after being so impressed with the episode ranking video
The zombie censorship is also present in some other countries in Europe, and also they have different voices.
20:14 Truly one of the GOATs Rest in Peace 🙏
I fucking love Mike Judge. He is the best person to ever come out of Austin period. I will not be more excited for anything else in my life as much as I will be when he announces his next big project.
This is the first time I have come across your channel. As someone that watched a few episodes recently in 2021, I have learned a bunch of bizarre things I was completely unware of.
Wait Butters was born on 9/11? Must've been a pretty dramatic day for him when he was born-
It's Butters what do you expect everything in his life is traumatic😭😭
I remember seeing those "Sports Kids" plushies as prizes in an arcade game when I was a kid
Would’ve loved those McFarlane South Park figures. They remind me of the cancelled art asylum gorillaz figures. Loved the video, you’re very good at this and I’m glad you actually know what you’re talking about haha subbed !!
Yo another Gorillaz fan
just saying,
Block 13 is a ADAPTATION of South Park in Kuwait, because the creator of Block 13 really loved South Park and was a huge fan, but unfortunately South Park was banned on Kuwait channels so he improvised and got permission by Comedy Central to make Block 13 a real thing.
i love seeing a smaller creator blow up been loving ur content for a while now man
One of the few videos I can watch more then once with out getting bored great video keep it up
I was really looking forward to this iceberg!! Amazing work from everyone who worked on this!
omg thank u for this blooms and sphs, i thoroughly enjoyed this; definitely did not feel like 52 mins!!
Dude the scene where Shelly puts fire on Stan I literally watched the episode super clear with the scene still in it
Actually the real reason why they removed Eric's father and sister were removed it's because it made the episode too long at about 30 minutes and Comedy central is only allowed to air 22 minute episodes
If anyone's wondering about the middle names being "Tiberius", it's a reference to Star Trek and captain Kirk's middle name. Also Bloom mispronounces it lol, guess he's not a Star Trek fan, not judging.
100% Thank You! But does ‘The Menagerie’ count as 1 episode or 2? haha ;) I take Cartman’s name Very Seriously sorry to burst the bubble but season 2 episode 11 “Roger Ebert Should Lay Off The Fatty Foods” (No coincidence a close parody of the original Star Trek episode ‘Dagger of the Mind” including character names like Van Gelder and Dr. Tristan Adams) Cartman auditions for the Finals to be in a Cheesy Poof commercial and his name’s announced as ERIC ‘THEODORE’ CARTMAN before he strips to she works hard for the money played by his mother on a boom box. Gotta Love Liane
They were banned in China around 4 years ago because they openly criticized the Chinese govenment.
this iceberg is really cool alongside the explainations in the video!
to add a bit to TSOT censoring, the europeen censors only applied to consoles (i'm french never came across them playing the game on steam)
the cartman sucks picture can also been seen in that game where breaking some machine in the photo dojo
jarsh finx animation when
You don't have to justify your video in the intro, I clicked on it because I want to watch it
listening to these while reluctantly doing art projects keeps me making art istg
Omg the north park thing having Kenny be named John Luc could could be a reference about all their middle names being Tiberius. In reference to the 2 most popular star trek captains.
season 2 episode 11 “Roger Ebert Should Lay Off The Fatty Foods” (No coincidence a close parody of the original Star Trek episode ‘Dagger of the Mind” including character names like Van Gelder and Dr. Tristan Adams) Cartman auditions for the Finals to be in a Cheesy Poof commercial and his name’s announced as ERIC ‘THEODORE’ CARTMAN.
it's interesting how the most insane show can have some wholesome actors
also there were *two thousand* oscars? holy crap!
“Maybe *Kyman* is cannon” just made me puke, thanks bloom!
Me too, cool person with a Gir pfp
THANK YOU i was waiting for this!! now im gonna watch the whole video
