According to Brandenburg v. Ohio, an avowed member of a white supremacist organization can call for the torture and murder of government officials as well as the purging of various ethnic minority groups as long as a sympathetic white crowd finds those threats to be unthreatening. This effectively overturned the precedent set by Schenck v. United States, which was that you could say anything you wanted to as long as the government agreed with it. You missed a HUGE PART of this story bro. During the controversy there was car found outside of the south park studios in NYC eith fumes coming out. Police were called and it was a malfunctioning weapon.. you know what kind they love to put in cars. It didnt hurt anyone and was disposed of. I will always remember this because my mother and sister were in manhattan at the time. About 5-7 blocks away smh. My mother worked in manhattan on 9-11 and had to walk to brooklyn and finally got a cab home there. There werent just threats. There were attempts... and matt and trey stood fearless in the line of fire for our rights... they have done more for our culture and nation than 99% of politicians, and were betrayed by their employers.
There was an attempt, think about that for a second You stand up for what you think is right and you get shot for it, this is what Comedy Central was afraid of. They didn’t want people dying and it was justified in this case, people have died before and this wouldn’t be an exception This isn’t about betrayal, it’s about making sure people don’t die because you pissed off extremist
The irony is that Comedy Central's attempt to avoid controversy created a controversy: by censorin' the two-parter, they proved that terrorist threats work.
Yes, and what is scary is that far-leftists have idolized the response that these terrorists got in the early 2000's, directly energizing the antifa movement here in the U.S. Our companies are now bending over backwards to appease these groups out of fear of violent retaliation.

Honestly, I know it is wrong but I dislike Islam a lot. Most Muslims are chill, but its not the people I dislike, it is the religion. Like honestly the crazy laws about making women cover up istg it is so wrong. The other day I saw some 4-5 year old girls and they were dressed head to toe in the blazing heat. Head coverings, long sleeves, no legs showing. Like humid sweaty heat. Those poor children, they are too young to even be sure of what religion they are, and they have to wear these uncomfortable pieces of clothing.
He didn’t tho. He made a movie with a very islamophobic woman that shows things that are completely prohibited in Islam and tries to say that those things are justified by the Quran (they aren’t). The verses were also portrayed on naked bodies. And it misrepresented all Muslim women as closet apostates who actually hate Islam and all Muslim men as uncaring and brutal. Edit: you people are pretty dense. I have not justified this or something. This comment was a clarification because the original commenter blatantly lied about the real situation. Also, this didn’t just „criticize“ the religion, such movies/videos directly lead to attacks on Muslims even deadly ones. Not a day goes by without someone spitting on a woman with a hijab. Use your brain.

Muslims I know would be fine with rational/respectful criticism of their religion. Depicting the image of the Prophet Muhammad, something Muslims find particularly offensive, does not serve a purpose outside of suggesting we should be able to offend anyone or anything at whim. It’s also weak comedy imo. we’re talking about a group of over 1 billion people. there are some people who ascribe to that group who send threats, but it should be as surprising as the backlash you would see after calling an African man the n word.
@@mechaSurge I mean I thought it was funny since it's common for a lot of folks to commit terrible acts and then claim "it was just a prank" to get out of criticism and potential legal trouble.
Muslim here - I wasn’t offended when I watched the uncensored episode. In fact, I was laughing so hard because south park really did portray extremists well. Depicting mohammed isn’t bad, it’s been done before. If you’re fine with jesus and god being depicted, then be fine with muhammad, yall.
I watched 200 and 201 when they aired, and had it recorded on DVR for a while. I 100% thought the giant censored speech at the end was a joke, and it’s kinda funny that Comedy Central inadvertently sent an anti-censorship message to their audience that stuck with me for a long time.
My friend's dad was a self-employed carpenter who had logos and bumperstickers that absolutely took the 'Jesus was a carpenter' angle The guy had incredible skill and make amazing pieces of furniture and cabinetry, so it's hard to argue
As a muslim, i actually applaud matt and Trey for showing Prophet Muhammad. The rule is WE can't portray him or else we would start worshipping him instead of God. (Kinda like how Christians pray to Jesus). So if a non Muslim does it, at the worst it should only be seen as a dick move which matt and Trey are more than familiar with being. If you see a portrayal of Muhammad and your first thought is "kill those who made it", who do you think is sinning more?
Ancient Muslims had plenty of art of Muhammed. Furthermore many many Muslims clearly do worship him so kinda a moot point. The fact is the Muslims don't want him protrayed in any form of parody or artistic rendering becuase they don't want people to know what he actually did, which is rape 10 year old children while being a warmongering clut leader, so it would be really easy to make him look terrible in parody like how Southpark parodies other people and groups.
@@chrispy5249 they may be saying that muhammed is NOT the same as Jesus, but if they were to start depicting him then he would elevate to a similar level to Muslims as Jesus is to Christians. I could be wrong tho and idk if this makes sense lol.
The problem is the backwardness of the extremists. I'm also a muslim and Super Best Friends never offended me. A main part of worshipping in Islam is the fact that you can't pray to anyone except God and the ban of portrayals of our prophets are because of that. However, it's now doesn't makes sense even a little bit because these "praying to statues/images" are nearly over now. Also, the extremist views also banned anything about drawing humans because of that too. Also, why no extremists are angry from the fact that Jesus is literally a South Park character too? In short, there are many reasons that this controversy is very absurd, even for a Muslim that doesn't supports the backwardness of extremists.
I disagree, Matt and Trey felt strongly about it because it's their art, and their hard work, comedy central just airs it. It's unfair asking them to also put their lives in danger for someone else's work.
The problem is, comedy Central has a duty of care for all their employees, not just the ones that work with south park. They were stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's ok to have the mindset "it's a risk I'm willing to take" but all their employees would have been at risk by association.
I’m still so sad that we haven’t heard Kyle’s speech in those episodes. But in some sort of way, that makes the idea of censorship in it even more clear
So long as he is a citizen of the US, he has the right to free speech and expression. If the threats were direct and specific, then he would have been punished.
Well if I understood the video correctly, then he's dead now. He became an FBI informant after being imprisoned. And he probably left Islam. As someone who has also left, if he was able to warn Americans about the dangers of the religion I consider that a fair trade for his previous actions. People need to understand how corrosive and destructive this ideology is. Even liberals in this religion are more extreme than the far right in the US.
The worst part is, that if this episode was not banned like it is.... not only we would be able to watch it legally, but we would be able to watch it legally FOR FREE!, cuz the South Park Studios streaming site exists you know? where most of the seasons are available for COMPLETELY free, LEGALLY, for you to stream. I agree with Zscout. That is the problem. They don't recognize this as Islam being the problem and keep defending the extremist because in the end they think they are better than everybody else on this world. Their religion is definitely the problem. They need to wake up and see their religion as being barbaric, outdated and ultimately prone to bring violence between them and others. What they don't realize is how that, alone, make them absolutely unlikable and even laughable. Having put 'Censored' on their Moh, in this episode, make everyone find their religion even more despicable, and seem as 'idiotic'. By being offended, and having ask Moh not to be represented, they make themselves look even more pitiful as a religion and a culture in front of everyone. as a Muslim, this is wild on the organizations side. the man that runs that website does NOT truly represent Islam. yes, it is very offensive to see someone draw our prophet (peace be upon him) and slightly mock him, but I know that if the prophet (PBUH) were still around, he may have shamed that man who "totally didn't" threaten the creators of south park. yes, it is very offensive and I personally, really don't like the fact they did that, but that is no excuse for violence when the option of a civil discussion was available. also, the Prophet (PBUH) didn't even hate his enemies. the people of his tribe used to hurt any one who became Muslim or was born Muslim , and he didn't even hate them. It has also been reported he never killed anyone during wars, only disarmed them, and he did kill once but that was when one of his enemies caught him off guard, and he himself would've died if he hadn't defended himself. This just shows how bad this man is, as in Islam, we STRIVE to be just like our Prophet (PBUH). Shame on that man and may Allah (SWT) show him the straight path and forgive him and any other Muslims who have struggled :( also another side tangent: This isn't me fully agreeing with what the creators of south park did, what they did is between god and them. Could also be out of respect, things having calmed down a bit they felt they had made their point of not bowing to threats but fine with doing it on their own terms. Third option could be for the sake of the safety of their families and colleagues. Personally I think they might as well. They stood their ground when the threats were flying, they made their point. Removing it for the safety of others who could be targeted and as a sign of respect and maybe sending that message, that they can be flexible if they're not cornered by threats. As a muslim, i actually applaud matt and Trey for showing Prophet Muhammad. The rule is WE can't portray him or else we would start worshipping him instead of God.

Most of these so called "As a ☪️uslim" are ex☪️uslims. They are undermining the problems that ☪️uslims create everywhere.

It has also been reported he never killed anyone during wars, only disarmed them, and he did kill once but that was when one of his enemies caught him off guard, and he himself would've died if he hadn't defended himself. I'm so glad you informed me about the harm caused by piracy. I had only ever seen 200 and 201 when they were broadcast originally almost entirely censored, I am outraged that I am able to watch them in their true form now. Horrible!
There are legitimately good arguments to be made for piracy in some cases.
@@trajectoryunown Agreed. I've seen a couple creators of indie games that got banned in Germany outright say "Just pirate it."
@@YOUTY209 notch also told someone to pirate minecraft aswell
@@trajectoryunown Yeah, like how Nintendo is ending the use of all of their older consoles, shutting the Nintendo store down disallowing you from playing digital only games, and requiring physical media which is both marked up in price now, and could fail at any minute unless you have a brand new copy. Pirating is the only way of playing certain games once the store closes, and eventually all Nintendo games for all of their previous consoles.

So whoever made the decision to censor the episode might not have done it only to save himself, but potentially many others, who weren't in any position to make a decision.
I don't expect the janitor at southpark studio to lay down his life in defence of free speech, and the decision reflects that.
