Y’all, try to clean as often as possible so you don’t have so much to clean at once. The longer you wait to clean, the more dirt and mess you accumulate and the job gets tougher. If you don’t tidy and clean a little every few days but wait for weeks or months to tackle the mess-the cleaning process will take longer and you will deal with tougher buildups. When cleaning any room especially the bathroom I clean top down, back out...meaning light fixtures, tops of mirrors, front and back of doors, door handles, light switches, outlets, towel bars, shower bars, window sills, shower/tub, toilet, sinks/countertop, mirrors, cabinets, baseboards, then floor. As a person who grew up in dorms. It was very educational knowing how to clean your own home. Recent hone owner and very overwhelmed with having a clean place and not trying to drive myself to craziness. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks.
This is a great video - I just have to add as a former industrial cleaner that you should always clean the toilets LAST and wear a mask or bandana over your mouth while cleaning the toilet (it takes one rookie moment of experiencing spray to the mouth to get people to do this lol). In the same way that house cleaning works top down and dry to wet, bathroom cleaning works from least gross to most gross. You'll want to dispose of your gloves and change your clothes after washing toilets (the spray even from the most cautious cleaner would surprise you) because you don't want to carry any germs or soiling from the toilet to the rest of your bathroom as you clean, so it's easiest to leave it last and then you don't have to change gloves multiple times and worry about cross-infection.
I completely agree and I also have special bottle brushes to clean the sink and shower drainpipe. I find they’re prime places for filth to collect from soap and teeth cleaning

I use a good microfiber mop, it is absolutely great. Her floor was already quite clean, but on the average dirty floor, her little microfibre cloth couldn't do the job, or it would need to be washed and rinced several times.

I turned 40 this year and have found myself becoming a home maker as my cancer survivor wife heads back into the workforce. One of the things my household really struggles with is putting things away after using them. Especially makeup, deoderant, hair clips etc. Is there any good tips for making it easier to put things away after using them? We do have like little organizers that my mother in law bought us, but my wife is a teacher and she works 12-14 hour days. I'm not a natural cleaner, I enjoy it and find it really satisfying, but I have never lived without someone else doing the cleaning for me. So this is all new. Thanks for the video I'm off to try to clean the bathroom for the first time!
This is so useful! I'm about to head off to college and was looking on UA-cam for a video on how to clean everything in my dorm bathroom before I go home for the weekends!
I would just like to add one more important ingredient: a good podcast or audiobook. Cleaning and housework is so unpleasant and listening to something that grabs my attention is the only way I can get through it. I disinfected my bedroom today after recovering from corona. Took the time to also declutter and threw away or passed on some old things. Thanks to a podcast I managed to take my time with this to ensure everything was disinfected. Now for the bathroom. Thanks for the tips. Update: Just finished cleaning the tub, which in my case had a bad case of scum underneath the tap. I'd also given up on ever being able to get the taps to shine again. This worked marvelously. I did use a bit of scrubbing action on the scummy parts but nothing excessive. Just a gently, simply scrub did it. I hope this helps anyone who has doubts on whether this actually works on a dirty tub. Remember to leave the soap/soda mixture for 5-10 mins before scrubbing. That seems to be the main way this softens the scum.
I honestly think sweeping the bathroom floor first is always a good idea. It's already gross and not getting that extra mess on your cloth makes it more efficient.
The best solution I have found to keep this clean is to wipe it each time I clean the kitchen, that way it doesn't have a chance to accumulate. It is so much easier along with wiping out the interior of the microwave.
The tip about feeling the tub for soap scum was so helpful! Now I don’t waste time cleaning the tub in areas that don’t need it. Also ensuring that the tub and tiles are wiped dry after each use or at the end of the day has eliminated the need for weekly cleans. Instead it’s more like every two weeks or so of a “deep” clean
Laundry room is difficult. This was incredibly helpful and exactly what I needed. I am watching one video a day on your channel to learn to clean. Thanks so much.

I just spent a half hour scouring my bathroom the other day, granted it hadn't really been cleaned in a few months other than my husband scrubbing the toilet bowl a couple times. I struggle with physical and mental health issues and the bathroom pretty much only gets cleaned when I hit the sweet spot when I have both physical and mental energy. I spend most of my energy doing damage control and chasing after two boys, and what energy I have left I use to cook and attempt to keep the kitchen in some sort of order.
I just had back surgery #18 so cleaning in general doesnt happen, I also have that weird OCD where it doesnt normally kick in unless I start cleaning and then I cant stop myself and end up just in way too much pain. Anyways we r moving in about 6 days ao guess I better get to scrubbing the toilet

@@kck9742 That is a very good idea, but unfortunately it is really expensive. Not knowing what is underneath, chances are the carpet has to be replaced by something else (tile, wood, etc) and most floorings are expensive these days.

Here's how I clean my toilet: 1. I start by scrubbing out the bowl, and I use the Clorox wand and disposable scrubbers with disinfectant in them that you can just release into the trash with a click of a button... love these. SO much more sanitary than having nasty toilet brushes around, and not expensive. 2. Then I spray and wipe down the outside of the toilet with paper towel-- tank, flusher, top of the lid, top of seat, and the outside of the bowl and base, and the floor around the toilet (no men, just one woman, but I still like to do this). 3 Lastly, I do the underside of the lid, underside of the seat, and the rim, because those are the germiest parts. I make it a point to always close the lid before flushing because otherwise bacteria is being sprayed everywhere.
Wow clorox wand. How much is it..how much for refills...that sounds so much more sanitary ..i told my husband the other day toylet scrubbers and reusing them full of bacterial. .
@@sarahanderson2456 i have thought of this too but spray my brush w hydrogen peroxide and leave it dry under the lid like she shows. I felt too bad using disposable because of the garbage waste.
@@lb9549 Eh, it's not that much waste and I'm not washing a filthy brush (that flicks toilet water all over your bathroom while you're using it). The disposable pad doesn't do that.

It’s pride vs shame; stress vs calm.
As a person who grew up in dorms. It was very educational knowing how to clean your own home. Recent hone owner and very overwhelmed with having a clean place and not trying to drive myself to craziness. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks.
My aunt came in and filled her waterbucket, as I (22) sat on her toilet. 🥵 Was that fair, what do you think ??
@alfredsuhrbier4166 Depends on how close you are. Judging by your reaction I assume not very but maybe there was Necessity.
Excellent comments. I always leave the toilet for last. But, she did not mention how to clean shower head.
Really thanks for the comment i'll do that, really helped, have a great day😘❤
I completely agree and I also have special bottle brushes to clean the sink and shower drainpipe. I find they’re prime places for filth to collect from soap and teeth cleaning

While I don't use all of the tools you use for cleaning the way you explained it and demonstrated was really helpful. Thank you. I used the bathtub paste you recommended: 1/2 dishsoap, 1/2 baking soda + grapefruit essential oils. It was effective, green, and smells great! tysm!
For the shower after I clean it, I wipe it down with a dryer sheet, then rinse. Smells amazing too.
Thank you so much for the video. however, I am looking for your recipe for cleaning the tiles as you promised @ 3:46 but cannot find it
So glad I’m not the only person who uses paper towel to clean my toilet!
Shelly D. I do and agree with you I think it’s gross when I see people using anything else on their toilet.
It’s disgusting. I would never use one of my reusable towels on it.
Nope, I do too. The thought of using cloth and then putting those cloths into my washing machine grosses me out big time.
I do too, just can’t handle the thought of using anything reusable for the toilet.
Yup. Me too.
After watching the video, I’m sooo happy I’ve been doing it the way you do it.

That's why I vacuum first (when the bathroom is dry, i.e. when it's been many hours since anyone showered/bathed).
Oh, and another room that I would like group on is the living room - especially carpeted floors. Thanks again!!
The underside of the microwave when it's above the stove! ugh.
Yeessss good one👍👍👍 i struggle with that part too😊
Good point... I too want to know how to clean base of microwave oven
I clean it RIGHT after boiling water on the stove, it breaks up more the grease and grime
The best solution I have found to keep this clean is to wipe it each time I clean the kitchen, that way it doesn't have a chance to accumulate. It is so much easier along with wiping out the interior of the microwave.
I thought I was the only one that cleaned her bathroom floor that way. Great job! 🌹
I love the full room break downs!! Would love a kitchen version bc my kitchen needs some tlc lol
Ha, my aunt came in and filled her water bucket, as I sat on her toilet. 🥵🥶🥵 Was that fair, what do you think ??
The tip about feeling the tub for soap scum was so helpful! Now I don’t waste time cleaning the tub in areas that don’t need it. Also ensuring that the tub and tiles are wiped dry after each use or at the end of the day has eliminated the need for weekly cleans. Instead it’s more like every two weeks or so of a “deep” clean

Here's how I clean my toilet:
Here's another vote for the Clorox wand. Sanitary and efficient.
@@CathyS_Bx Yes. I will never go back!
@@lb9549 Eh, it's not that much waste and I'm not washing a filthy brush (that flicks toilet water all over your bathroom while you're using it). The disposable pad doesn't do that.
