I recently hurt my back so I’ve purchased a bathroom scrub brush with telescopic handle so I can scrub the tub without bending and can reach the tiles readily, also. I use the stronger solution on the tub and yikes that Melissa uses for tougher jobs- 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 dish soap (optional essential oil) spray on and let sit 1/2 hr before scrubbing with my long handled brush (the bristles are just nylon so they don’t scratch acrylic surfaces)
Since kneeling is difficult perhaps use a chair/stool with this tool so you won’t need to bend or kneel down. Best of luck

I am going to sub your channel, I am a guy who actually enjoys cleaning and being in a clean space and house, I can definitely use tips on cleaning, funny story for you, my brother and we’re 15 and 12, we were up late on a school night cleaning our room, dad came back and said go to bed now, it’s late, after we figured he and mom were sleeping around 2:00am we completely rearranged our room and knocked the tv off the dresser, about a good 5’ fall, we were worried that it woke dad and mom up, we were trying to hurry and pick it up and get in bed and fake sleep, it didn’t wake them up, so back to cleaning we went, needless to say we had a rough time getting up for school in the morning but it was worth it, we got in trouble for staying up cleaning so late 😂😂😂

This is my first visit. Thanks so much for the tip about opening up a window to let a mattress, 'breathe.' I do this in the mornings before making the bed, but have never incorporated into the bed changing. I struggle with buying cleaning products, since I am trying to reduce plastic, so I appreciated your takes on homemade cleaners, but also the importance of enzyme cleaners. Stay safe in Canada!

I appreciate all the tips you gave here for cleaning. I have certain cleaning tasks that I don't mind doing, like washing dishes and vacuuming, but others I just HATE! I guess the ones most tedious for me are the "deep cleaning" jobs, like the tub/shower and really anything that involves a lot of scrubbing. In general though, I don't mind cleaning the kitchen too much, but I HATE cleaning the bathroom! However, much as I hate it, it is SO nice to have a clean bathroom 😀.

I tried every thing to remove the soap scum from my fiber glass shower, the vinegar, water & dawn dish soap didn't work for me but I tried Krud Kutter & that worked, it took me 2 times but it all came off & now its a breeze to keep clean. Same thing with my hood vent & filter, I tried every thing to remove the years of dried on caked up grease but the Krud Kutter melted all of it off. I just let it sit on the surfaces for about 10 or 15 minutes & I was Amazed how all of it came off I ran it under hot water no using a cleaning brush to get in all the cracks & crevices of hood vent filter, but looks brand new 😊

Love all these hacks BUT it pained me to see you scrub so hard at the glsss for the oven. All you have to do is get it wet and use a razor blade swipe slowly from let to right or right to left and all that gunk will come off so fast and no scrubbing needed!!! ❤ hope this helps! And the razor doesn’t scratch the glass or anything, just makes it clean!!

My cleaning challenge is having very limited energy and some mobility issues. I cannot get on my knees. I wish I could afford a service to do the heavy duty cleaning but I cannot. I've figured out that I need to really purge my home of all the "stuff" I really don't need so there is less to clean and less stuff to clean around. I'd love a resource for reasonably priced products/tools that will get the job done and what home goods/materials are easiest to take care of. Tired of wasting money on things that dont work or can't afford to keep maintained.

I help myself out with a vinegar spitz and wipe down with a soft cloth ( I use old face cloths) in the bathroom, sink, outer toilet, and shower 2 times a week. It takes 3=4 min and reduces the build-up, also the kitchen sink. A good habit is to dry the shower and chrome each use with said soft cloth.

I change my sheets once a week (I sleep alone) ☹But I wash my pillow protectors ever other week. That's when I spray my pillows with Lysol spray and make sure its dried well. I rotate my mattress once a month. I wash my comforter once a month.
    Does that seem normal?

Get a new teenager. (Just kidding, I couldn't resist - lol.) I don't know how she did it, but my mother used to push anything that wasn't in it's place in my bedroom, up against the back of my bedroom door, so that I could hardly open it after school 😁. Or she'd pile everything in the middle of my bed, and I wasn't allowed to go to sleep until I put everything away. She was something. She was the Greatest, but she was something. Hope that helps😊.

Do you give her an allowance? My son had to implement a coupon system for my grandson, earn coupons for chores done, and spend coupons to use their own stuff. Short of that closed-door policy, you can't see through a closed door.

Hi, I love your videos. I have a lot of marks on my walls. The walls are painted white. How do I remove these without ruining the paint? I tried a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and it damaged the paint. Also, the sprayer tube in my kitchen sink is full of black mildew. Is there a way of removing this, or do I have to replace the whole faucet?

For most ovens these days it literally tells you how to take the door apart to clean wll those glass panels and that obviously would not void any warranty. It's fairly easy to do, so do check your manual to see if that's an option. If your oven is new enough to still be under warranty, chances are the door can be easily taken apart for cleaning.

What is the amount of water and vinegar you used in the spray bottle (along with the 2 tbsps of dish soap) to clean the tub?

    • @HeatherLovesLife
      @HeatherLovesLife Рік тому +6

Melissa used equal parts water & vinegar to fill the spray bottle. Based on the size of the spray bottle, it was likely about 1.5 cups of each, then add the dish soap & shake before use.
That’s about the amount I use & it works well.

As requested, what is the most difficult cleaning issue for me? Removing odors from launderable clothing, like men's T-shirts, sheets, even dog bedding. I use vinegar in the first rinse. Sometimes I do a regular wash followed up with a vinegar wash, using a lot of vinegar in place of detergent. The steam cycle in my washer seems to help.
Is there any single product that can be added to the wash to truly-effectively remove odors?

We have large blade ceiling fans, and I can't even imagine how much dust there is on top of them. I'm not even sure I want to try a swiffer on them. Any ideas on how to clean these without sending piles of dust onto my furniture? Kind of the same with our heating vent, it's on the ceiling too. Thanks!

I've seen this done; put a damp pillowcase over the blade (with the blade inside), and *slowly* slide the case off, with one on top of the blade and one hand under. It worked surprisingly well.

No on the swifter, I do construction cleaning. The best I can recommend is an old-school static duster and vacuum. Drag the duster and hold the vacuum duster part to collect the dust from the dusting tool. I do fans, cupboards, baseboards, and almost everything with drywall dust this way before wipe down with a damp cloth.

Once while cleaning the oven, I went to lift the element up to spray underneath and it just snapped in half at the touch of my hand. Stone cold, of course, not wet etc and I've cleaned an oven about 100x in my life before and after, but this was a new oven and this was only the 2nd or 3rd time cleaning it. Thankfully it was still under warranty but even the technician was like "how did this happen?" It was shocking.
