      Hi, Melissa and team!
I'm in Australia and wondered if you had any recommendations for great quality microfibre/cleaning cloths that I would have access to?
      Thanks! 😊

Basically, you vacuum just the same way you cut your grass so as not to miss anything and to leave a pattern that says you've just vacuumed your space. I agree that you should 'hang clothes as you take them off' (maybe INSIDE OUT so you know you've worn them already!) Love that blue sweater, that's a relaxing at-home outfit or a run-to-the-store one!

Hi. Melissa. I have started watching your videos going right back to the beginning and they have given me the motivation to clean and declutter my whole house. I watch your videos while I am sorting and cleaning and they keep me motivated. I have bought some spray bottles and ingredients to make my own cleaning products. I am hoping by the end of my declutter and clean that it will be much easier to keep on top of things. The more i clear out the things I don’t need, the better I feel. Thanks for all the advice, ideas and cleaning hacks. 😊

    Another tip.
If you have food items to be thrown out but they are not compost compatible. Put them in a bag and place them in the freezer until your collection date.
    This eliminates any odors, completely.

I canceled my garbage service three or four years ago in favor of taking my garbage to the dump every four months or so (at $15 a trip, versus $45 a month for my city garbage service), and I do exactly that with the very little that I can't compost). I keep a box in my stand-alone freezer to collect it. Saves almost $500 a year. I doubt I could do that if I were on city water and sewer, but since I'm on a well and septic, I just told them to put me on a "vacation hold" and there I stay.

i live in an apartment building and if i have food scraps sitting even a few minutes it can attract fruit flies or ants so i take them to the dumpster ASAP. i am OCD with trying to keep them out of the apartment. in the winter if the sidewalk is slippery or if it's pouring down rain i put it in the freezer. i also don't get any odors from things.

i cleaned houses for 15 years, my own for 54…
one thing I seldom see addressed on many excellent cleaning sites ( including yours❤) is the huge fact that most people do not live/ with in the “upscale, latest thing” in cupboards, floors, counter tops, bathrooms; in fact, many live in houses and furnishings of at least 25 years age! you would assume everyone has granite counter tops, stainless appliances, hardwood polished floors… this is not “real” i too could make such domains look terrific…but an older house, with older furnishings is much more challenging. as is cleaning with older bodies. i am glad your home is more realistic. comfortable, attractive, but not a 2020 clone of every new house on the street…

Re dust mites, this is why you should leave your sheets pulled down when you first get up. Let your perspiration evaporate because a moist environment encourages dust mites. Don't make your bed until the bed is dry (half hour). Best practice, wrap the mattress in a zippered dust mite/bed bug proof cover. Over that, a padded mattress cover you can wash and dry, which will kill all the dust mites. Dead.

Call up the house cleaning agencies in your area and ask for cleaning rates. Pretend you are getting your 3 bed/2 bath 1500sqft 2 level home cleaned. It will give you some ideas. There are deep cleans, maintenance cleans, and move out cleans. The first time you clean a client you need to charge for a deep clean as it will take you more time. Develop checklists of what is covered on a deep clean, routine clean, etc. Most clients have no idea what is needed so the checklist makes it transparent. Organize your cleaning tools well. Make a system. You can require your clients to pay a small fee for start up supplies that will be used only in their home such as microfiber cloths (Costco), toilet bowl brushes, etc. Good luck and remember to accept only cash or instant electronic payments to avoid being cheated. Payment just before cleaning. Also explain there is a cancellation charge if they don't cancel 1 week in advance. Cancellations cost you because you can't get your time back.

Brabantia lasts forever (mine is 15 years old and looks brand new); super easy to clean, and most importantly - it never smells.... Expensive, yes - but if you can afford it, you'll never regret it. “Magically” brings back memories for me. Years ago when my kids were young teens/tweens, they would bring a drinks or food to their rooms which were upstairs. Outside there room was a desk where they would place them when they were done. 😮. I would naturally pick those up when I would see them and take them to the kitchen. They deemed it the “Magic Desk”, because their dishes would magically disappear.😂😂 I can laugh now but at least it wasn’t left in their rooms.

A month or more ago I mopped it and then put a product on it for shine that specifically said it was for this type of floor. Now all I can see in one spot in particular it is almost like I stopped mopping in that area and went onto the next section. Hard to explain. I have tried to get rid of it and nothing works. It looks like a big smudge. I am hoping you can help me. Thanks in advance.

I love essential oils but it made my cat & ferrets sick over a course of a couple of weeks, sighhhhhh... Since figuring that out, they are 100% better, but a note for anyone else to save on vet bills 💵😉

So sorry that happened but glad you mentioned it because a lot of people are unaware of the risks to pets and babies!

I struggle with how to choose the proper type of vacuum. I would love to just have one type but currently I have three, a canister, an upright, and a stick. I have wood floor, carpet, and upholstery. What are your suggestions please?

I'm preparing to move. Ugh! After I got out my devices and hooked them up to all of their charging cords, I'm stuck with dozens of extra cords. Are they breeding in the corners or something? Where did they all come from? Anyhoo - cleaning out all of the closets and cupboards for the new tenant seems overwhelming. Any tips?

Just wanted to say hello, I’m new here, and also wanted to ask if you had any good tips on washing towels? We have 4 fur babies and they have their own towels but I have noticed that they have hair left on them after washing them.

Here’s a weird question, do people use Pine-Sol anymore? I really want to start a small cleaning business but remember growing up with Pine-Sol throughout the whole house and wonder if house cleaners are something else specific and less of a strong odor?

I don't fold underwear, towels, sheets. I wash and rehang towels, clean sheets go right back on the bed. Underwear gets dumped in drawer. I save loads of time.
