    zinc kills colds etc, but you need quercetin also
    sugar depletes your body of zinc, thus lowering your immune system

    DHT though is one if not the main factor to hair loss in men

      So more Zinc = more DHT = more male pattern baldness?

      ONLY in those with a genetic predisposition to male-pattern baldness.

    Should you take Copper with a Zinc supplement? I read in a few places that taking Zinc increases the need for Copper so I bought a Vitabiotics Zinc and Copper combination. However, I've now read that Zinc and Copper should not be taken together as they compete for absorption, or something like that. Is that the case and if so I'd better throw the Vitabiotics Zinc/Copper combination away which is very annoying.

      If you have a balanced diet, it's unlikely that you need to supplement with zinc. If not and food variety/intake is poor, and you do need to supplement, you would potentially be better off taking zinc and copper in separate meals. But again, if you're diet is balanced you likely get all the zinc and copper you need

      @@rkirwan1 Thank you. The same can be said for any vitamin/mineral if you eat a balanced diet. So, please can you answer my question regarding the specific combined Zinc and Copper supplement being not a good thing due to problems with absorption when they are taken together?

      @@rkirwan1 Thank you. Yes, I read it again. Why do companies like Vitabiotics make this Zinc/Copper combination when one element will stop the absorption of the other when ingested together if I have understood the way they are absorbed by the body correctly?

      @@stevenrobertson4190 I think they're just trying to take an advantage of a consumer demand (as it's understood that Copper intake should increase if Zinc intake increases. They're not overly concerned with anything else.
