Fun fact: my last custom build never had a GPU (just an APU)..... GPU's are too expensive for my liking
Your comment validates NVIDIA's long-term goal to reset your baseline for a "normal"-priced GPU. NVIDIA wins! The 3000 & 4000 series GPUs are 15% & 20% more expensive than previous generations on a $ per framerate scale.

2070: $599 after inflation: $735.71
2080: $799 after inflation: $981.36
2080 ti: $1,199 after inflation: $1,472.65
40 series equivalent:
4070: $599
4080: $1199 (which was a bad deal for sure that the super rectified)
4090: $1,599
Seems pretty close, and that's just for the 20 series since you used that as an example.
Nevertheless, I don't disagree with the sentiment of the pricing being too high in general. The problem is competition is dying. AMD (or somehow Intel) needs to do a better job competing (especially at the top end), or it's only going to get worse (just like inflation).
@@Nunya58294I mean that's cool if you don't play games, or are only interested in games that are not very demanding. Unless you can somehow tolerate running like 1080p ulta low settings with FSR on ultra performance bringing res even lower, and still getting less than 50-60 FPS... Otherwise you're better off buying even a cheap used card and a lesser CPU (if needed to fit your budget).
IGPUs are only useful for general office PCs, and HTPCs. Essentially any workload that doesn't really need a GPU past video playback.
Unless someday they figure out how to stack gigs of ram onto a CPU for an IGPU to access, they're always going to be stuck in that role. Considering X3D CPUs only manage 96MB of cache (with that being A LOT right now), it's probably not likely any time soon.
@@BeardedFrogI retro game on a 5700G. The iGPU is more powerful than the dGPU I originally played the games on. We’re talking strike eagle 2, mechcommander and xcom: enemy unknown and xcom: terror from the deep. Runs all my favorite retro games and is capable of browsing the internet as well.

I for one would love one of those low power APUs for a server, currently I'm using a Raspberry Pi and it fits my use case nicely, but I could use a little more oomph.. at the same time, I like that the Pi only draws about 16 watts. Going up to a 35W Ryzen APU would be a fantastic compromise for me

10:30 the issue with Windows updates isn't about compatibility; it's that all hardware older than 2018 will no longer be supported on new Windows platforms and will reach End of Life (EOL) in November 2025. This could result in a significant number of PCs being discarded into landfills. Therefore, I'm working swiftly to develop a website that demonstrates how to upgrade a PC from Windows to Linux (Ubuntu, Mint, Pop). This initiative aims to reduce landfill waste and attract business. I mentioned this plan while at the cabin.

Usually. You freely give the rights to 99% of it to companies by simply creating an account. Which is then sold legally via data brokers.
Same for art/music you upload. The copywrite may be yours but they can do just about whatever tf they want with it as long as they're not directly profiting from your content/data.
@@G4M5T3R Actually, most of the info comes from search engines, which get it by "crawling" the Web. Most of the originating sites (which are independently owned) have NOT given permission to reuse the data. While using the data to provide links back to the original site can be considered "fair use", using the data outright (especially for profit) without crediting the originator is outright copyright infringement, i.e., theft.
@@G4M5T3R Yeah, Also almost all website have a clause that pretty much give the right to analise the data for search engine database. These clause literally give the right to do the same with a more advanced AI. It was always there since the beginning of internet and pretty much never hidden. People may cry as much as they want on twitter it will be hard to revert a permission they given for multiple years just because they aren't happy that computer got smarter nowadays.

The thermal pads and paste would have to contain synthetic proteins for ants to go behind it.
AMD has other problems than anti-lag. I have been running on old drivers for the last 6 months now (23.8.2 the latest version without issues) the Adrenaline software overlay toggle stops working after 2-3 days after installing!! You have to uninstall and reinstall to get Adrenaline to come back up so I rolled back my drivers. Now 24.1.1 I loved that they got that problem fixed and I am getting +15 FPS.... but now it crashes 1) In Modern Warfare 3 (Zombies mode) exiting a vehicle would cause a Hard crash locking up PC, I would have to turn off the power! 2) I can't play any of my RenPy games. Windows (OS) makes a window for the game, it turns white, then get a driver crash (soft crash), at least I can get a bug report to send. So now I have had to roll back drivers again! I am really thinking about going over the Nvidia but my monitor is only Freesync.

I love that all the AI generated images have incredibly obvious flaws, and that Paul chose to use an image algo that still has problems with hands
It's still not an AI. In the sample I saw on another channel Sora was messing up leg movements really badly. Because it isn't Intelligent. It doesn't know how anatomy works or anything. It just replicates picture development based on large number of other flows and still has issues. It's not AI. It's Artificial CopyPasta.
ASRock as usual, not gonna see those BIOS updates for its older AMD platform mini PC's like the A300/Deskmeet X300, etc

Just this week I was reloading Windows on a ASRock AB350 AM4 mobo and it was telling me Windows 11 was not compatible even though it already had windows 11 installed for over a year. I had to trigger a Windows 11 reinstall from WIndows 11 for it to work. Don't worry, my other rig is a 7800x3D and a 3080ti.
Zluda is a game changing for potential AMD owners. I would LOVE to give nvidia the middle finger for a few generations, but without CUDA, I cannot jump ship because I need it for 3D applications and AI acceleration.
As always Microsoft says it's malware and tried to block it of course!
@@petenielsen6683 Is that so? I mean, better safe than sorry, and Microsoft doesn't have any skin in the game, but hopefully this can be perfected and released with industry approval. AMD clearly has a massive amount to gain. Weird that they abandoned it.

I think we should imcentivize people interested in bring consumers rather than producers in society, and those who want to opt out of hard work of any kind, to plug into Neuralink and live out their years in VR with General AI-enchanced experiences. Frees up society for the rest of us and those interested in actually surviving without being overly reliant upon such technologies.

I find this time we are in quite ironic. We are actively destroying our world by ignoring the obvious impact we are having on the climate, while at the same time running headlong into an AI controlled dystopian nightmare om PURPOSE. And to think we made it thru the cold war without burning to a crisp in a nuclear fire, just so we could do this to ourselves. Makes you wonder how we actually made it this far. I am just thankful that you will be here to help guide the way with your Tech News incites.
The naming of the new AMD cuda core software is Zludicrous.
it's all so exciting. terrifying but also exciting. say I want a new game but i don't like any of the options i see. you'll be able to open up your ai prompt and type in a few paragraph's. a while later after its done generating you'll have your game. then you can modify and change aspects that didn't come out how you liked, or be more specific on certain aspects. within just a day you created something that used to take years. we're not that far away from having these abilities within everyone's reach. remote ai servers are going to be huge business.
