OMG! I grew up in Chicago in the 60's, and beef tripe was popular with Black folks whose families came from the south. My ancestors came north from Atlanta, during the great migration after slavery was abolished. In fact, my father used to cook it a lot. After I moved to California to go to college in the 70's I've rarely seen it since then and, actually, forgot about it until it popped up in your UA-cam posts! Thank you for reminding me how much I usedto love it when I was a child. So now I'm going to be on the hunt for it in local Mexican stores because I know it's one of the ingredients in their Menudo. Thanks, Aisha, for bringing back warm memories from my childhood of loved ones, like my Dad, who are no longer with me.

Born and raised in Durham, North Carolina and honey, I LOVE tripe as well! I was 12 years old when I first tried it and that was it! My mom didn't think I was going to like it, but girl it's the BEST! I love how you do things! So clear and you leave nothing out, and you have a very BEAUTIFUL spirit! 😍😋

I'm from St. Louis....Maffit & Marcus Avenues. Let me tell you, Sister, I was on the phone with a friend and I saw her bite into her tripe sandwich and I immediately went out to buy some. Mine just came out of the crockpot and I'm watching your recipe for inspiration. Thanks for reminding me of home....

I've been gone from St.Louis a long time now, but my roots are there and i miss tripe sooooo much! St. Paul sandwiches (shrimp) and the authentic/one of a kind rice found in E. St Louis, run through my mind and stomach constantly. Thank you for teaching me to pass this delicacy on to my children! Shout out to the lovely woman in the photo as well.

From St. Louis and remember HyWills on Leffingwells. Best tripe in town. Years later the name was Lewis snack. Made some last year and the turn out good. Boil on stove and then in crockpot overnight. Really tender and fried up good.

I cook honeycomb beef tripe. I soak it in milk over night. Then I rinse it off and boil it on low for about 2 hours. I then let it soak in vinegar for maybe a hour. I put salt and pepper on it. I then put it in flour and fry it.

Ok so my friend from St. Louis was telling me about this sandwich and I’ve never heard or seen fried tripe. So I came on here to how it was prepared. That sandwich looked so bomb!! I gotta try this. The only question I have is how do you clean? Because he said you have to clean it first. Can you please do a video to show how you cleaned yours?🙏🏾

I love tripe! I learned to like it when I lived overseas in England. Yesterday I saw a beef tripe in milk in a can and it was the grossest looking thing I have ever seen. It was all gloopy and gluey and I mean once it was fried it was okay but I don't think I could open that can and do that. I have only ever had fresh tripe.
