I'm 70. Just spent the length of your video deep squatting. I spent a number of years in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Keep Calm And Squat On.

I am 75 with a right hip replaced and bad right knee. I learned how to squat safely at the gym. While I can’t squat deeply, I do four sets of 25 squats on Mondays, spread throughout the day. Three days at the gym.

Fervent deep squatter here. I do them in most breaks at work. I find it handy to adopt various arm positions with each one.

If I don't squat for a time, my left knee begins to feel unstable. A couple of days of deep squatting has it back in shape again.

If you look at the squat in the lead in photo, it is not the same. It is an internal martial art squat. The knees are horizontal and the heels are off the ground. It is nothing even remotely close to the deep squats in your video. Whenever the buttocks go below the knees you can damage the knees when you go back up. This can be avoided by pushing the knees down to the horizontal before going up. I think that practicing Seiza is a far better position although I do practice both, one for martial arts and the other for meditation.

I did deep squats all the time as a communication worker. I’d work in a deep squat, I’d rest in a deep squat. I went to the gym and gently exercised my knees and back along with lots of stretching. Now at 63 I’m getting ready for my second knee replacement. It did no miracles for me. Osteoarthritis came along and destroyed me.

Do Not do deep squats as a repetitive exercise. If you do them at all. Almost no one maintains the right speed and form in this exercise. This exercise will blow up your knees if you don't go slow and maintain good form. Better to only go down as far as your thigh parallel to the ground and no more particularly if you add weight (barbell). Important to go slow both up AND down. Do them like 10 sets of 1.

I guess that squat can be one of the many reasons to live well, but not only.
Decades ago scientists claimibg that the eskimo diet or Jesus diet its the best, they just ignoring that both of them can walk kilometers per day, live in a non polution place, with pure air etc.
