Pretty sure that's more of a reference to JoJo's length cause if you combine all volumes of each Part you get 131 volumes. Soon to be 132 when the first volume of JoJolands releases in Japan.
I went to the Jojo Tree event in Tokyo and I noticed there's not much documentation of this detail I noticed. The entire exhibition was essentially a walkthrough of the floors with the entire place decorated with Jojo art on the walls with a giftshop and cafe offering the special Jojo foods. At the very end of the exhibition right before you take the elevator to go down, there was a big picture of Toyohiro Kanedaichi (the Super Fly guy from Part 4) pasted on one of the windows to look like he was sitting on one of the Sky Tree's metal beams. I thought it was an insane little joke/reference given how the Sky Tree is a giant metal tower much like his stand, Super Fly. He was off to the side and I could see that many people probably didn't see him at all when visiting.
It’s a somewhat common joke in the Monster Hunter fanbase to depict Deviljho and Brachydios fighting with stand rushes because “jho” is reminiscent of Jojo and Brachydios is like Dio
Steel Ball Run not actually featuring literal steel balls based on the original dialogue blew my mind. This is easily one of my favorite video series on UA-cam. Thanks for all the work you put into these videos, Hamon Beat!
I said in another video but I want Araki to do a one shot chapter of Pink Dark Boy. Thought it would be interesting to see what's Rohan's manga is about.
I don’t know if you’ve ever mentioned this but there is a JoJo ref in Dead Cells. One of the hidden items are the Hayabusa Gauntlets, because of their flavor text “UselessUselessUselessUselessUselessUseless!” (Dio/Giornos English translated stand cry)
Actually, Vinegar Doppio italian name "Aceto" (pronounced "/aˈt͡ʃeto/) and Sorbet italian name" Sorbetto" are never said in the italian subtitle for the anime, they are still Vinegar and Sorbet.
I think that Magnetic Rose in Memories led to Perfect Blue, since it came after the Jojo episode Kon worked on, and it shares a similar tone to the movie. But probably his work on Jojo helped him get to it, at least in animation, I mean he was already a mangaka, workd as an assistant for Otomo and worked with Mamoru Oshii, he was already in the game. Maruyama sticked the ends together.
I don't know if you have included this in your fun fact series, but there are some JoJo references in Yu-Gi-Oh! series and card game. In 2005 Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, one of the antagonist named Saioh Takuma (or Sartorius in dub) is using an Arcana force deck which is themed after Tarot cards. One of his card is based on the World card and it has an effect to skip an opponent's turn, which is analogous to time stop in the card game and a reference to JoJo's the World. As a side note, both Saioh and Dio were coincidentally voiced by Takehiko Koyasu, and thus share similar mannerisms. Also, recently, YGO has released a card named "Infinitrack Road Roller" for the Infinitrack theme based on heavy machineries. It wouldn't be striking if it's not the fact that its design is a green-and-yellow steamroller and it has 2100 ATK/DEF, matching with the number 21 of the World tarot card.
the one with Saioh might have been a coincidence. but who knows. the VA thing however has no basis since the Jojo anime where Takehito Koyasu voices Dio came out years after GX. the road roller.. knowing Konami that one is on purpose.
yu gi oh in general is inspired by jojo, especially in the first 7 volumes, which is really similar to part 4, yugi himself seems inspired both design wise and character wise by koichi
@@ghoulchan7525 Yeah, I agreed that Koyasu voicing characters with similar theme is more of a coincidence, since he is often casted to voice arrogant and overconfidenr villains. Though YGO's world were debuted some years after JoJo's, so I guess they might draw some inspiration from it.
