For me the most surprising information is the quest Compendium of the Fallen. It's a lvl 30-ish horde only quest in Thunder Bluff that ask you to steal a book from Scarlet Monastery. Sounds harmless enough. Well the fun part is that it's not exactly horde-only. You see, you can't pick this quest as an undead. The tauren simply say that he doesn't like the Forsaken and them joining the horde was hasty bargain. After that he straight up refuse to give you the quest. Three guesses how I learned about this one.
@@persperspersp2866 If only leveling was faster i would play it alot more, i just think the leveling is way too slow and the mounts taking so much time to unlock the game is rly slow, i dont have time to grind for so long nowadays . About the ambience at 7:15 in UC it would be best to stop talking a bit there so people can actually hear it instead of talking all over it. Small pauses of talk won't hurt every now and then.
The black stallion was my very first mount back in vanilla at level 40. I named him Clip Clop and even made a short video of him back in the day uploaded to a video sharing website called PutFile. That was my land mount all the way until the TBC where I could finally get the black PvP mount through points. I'm surprised more people don't have it, thank you for letting me know Clip Clop was all the more special. Edit: I knew to go to the Wetlands for a black horse because of Thotbot :P
The Lost Vikings reference foes a step deeper even - each of these has a chance to drop an item that refers to their Viking counterpart. Erik had some boots that allow for better jumping I believe (Erik was the only one who could jump). Baelog drops a bow (he was the viking with access to weapons) and Olaf drops a shield (as he had a shield that he could use to glide)
Brewfest surprised me one year. During I think Cata or Pandaria, I decided to talk to all the npc's at brewfest...one said he had something I never claimed. He gave me the OG ram mount from vanilla. Fucking dropped my jaw
That was a holdover from when I believe Wrath changed the mounts. If you still had the tickets, there was an NPC that would trade you the defunct tickets for the original mount.
Funny story when wow classic dropped a friend and I duo leveled as warriors and prepurchased black stallions when we were in wetlands then trained riding at 40. We were 2 of the very fastest to 40 on grobulus and made a horrific reign of terror over the horde in thousand needles running people down like we were riders of the apocalypse. It's quite possibly my favorite memory from wow classic.
I made so much gold on that LW pattern for Herbalist's Gloves back in Vanilla. I was playing casually back then and explored every nook and cranny of every zone, I got to, so I found pretty much all the "hidden" quests, vendors etc. I quickly realised, that ppl were lazy, and I could make from 10s to 2g on most recipes/patterns, just picking them up as I went along, coz ppl didnt bother finding out, where the vendors were and getting them themselves. Apparently pretty much no1 found that guy in Ashenvale, plus the pattern was limited to 1 with a respawn timer. I earned enough for my riding skill and mount on that pattern alone! Which was huge for a casual player.
I'm pretty sure the random hunter trainers are leftovers from the early alpha/beta versions where hunters had to train different beast mastery types to tame different beasts, and when the idea got scrapped blizzard just turned them into regular hunter trainers
What's rarer than the flayed demon skin is the old, deprecated version that used to be able to drop for horde AND alliance players, that alliance players weren't able to turn in as the quest npc was hostile to them. It was later replaced with the current version that requires neutral with the horde.
@@selalewow I got the black stallion on my human priest (bought at lvl 39 to be ready!). And then I grinded Darnassus rep to get a Frostsaber epic mount! Ah, those were the times!

The Flayed Demon Skin isn't really all that rare. By the time you've done The Burning of Spirits, Sceptre of Light and Hand of Iruxos quests in Thunderaxe Fortress you're probably going to have killed 50+ Burning Blade dudes and it will almost always have dropped. (This assumes that you're soloing the quests, not being carried.)

That key to Searing Gorge, to my knowledge I was the only Horde with it. I was on Arthas-pvp and it followed me when I did a faction change. It was fixed fairly quickly but my key remained. Very funny when allies thought they'd escaped me in that tunnel.
You missed the frostsaber mount that is aliance exclusive and was even modified in TBC to be 100% speed but only basic riding (as it had no riding requirement to begin with in vanilla). I Always use the Black Stallion mount for my human girl characters, just to add some more RP into the game. Just buy it when you are in wetlands (100% chance on 30+ char to be there at some point) and ride from the logging camp on him right as you turn 40.

I always loved the audio for the entrance of the Undercity. That cinematic from Warcraft 3 gives me chills still! "What are you doing my son?!" "Succeeding you, father."

AV was a quick rep grind compared to how ridiculously long AB and WSG took to get to exalted but it was definitely not just a weekend. I'd say more realistically 2 weeks even if you went hardcore. Absolutely love these trivia videos, can't get enough!
I was one of those crazy guys who ground out another faction to exalted so you could ride their mounts. I think normally if you did all of the available quests you typically ended up somewhere in honored. Every faction has someone you can repeatedly donate cloth to gain a very small amount of reputation. To get from revered to exalted you had to donate stacks of runecloth. So as an forsaken shadow priest I farmed Inner Mauradon’s princess and goblin. Got the staff so I could get in by myself. Set my hearthstone to the nearby town so I could make a friend party leader, dump the instance ID on them, and leave group so I would get ported out, or I would take off my gear and kill myself and reset while running back. Got it down to being able to do five or six loops an hour, which was the instance cap at the time anyway. Sold everything and then would buyout every stack of runecloth on the auction house. It took forever, but I was the only forsaken on the server who could ride a kodo. Ironically, they eventually made it very easy to get reputation with another factions. I think it was the argent tournament dailies in wrath?
I remember going through that arduous attunement but the extra /rude dialogue is peak. Also had no idea the Lordaeron stuff extended to the hallway. It was cool how they tied together those callbacks into the alliance cutscene there in BFA.
