The sequel ( can't really call it that; it's just another mystery tale with Craig's detective) is also plenty of fun. And director, Rian Johnson, has a third planned and in the works.
I love the callback of Harlan telling Marta that Ransom could not even tell a prop knife from a real one... and then Ransom attempts to stab Marta with a prop knife 😂
It's a nice callback and all, but I always hate when people call it fantastic foreshadowing or something cause it was super obvious that that line was being used to set something up in the future. "He can't tell a prop knife from a real one" isn't a phrase or expression people say, so it was really clear it had a purpose beyond just calling Ransom foolish.
If you guys notice, the Harlan portrait near the beginning of movie shows Harlan to be frowning, but at the end of film, when marta ooks at it again, Harlan is shown smiling. The detail was subtle.
And a fun fact, they were real paintings but the smiling one wasn’t done in time for filming so they had to superimpose it over the frown one. Looks seamless!
As an avid reader of Agatha Christie, I was pleased to see a purely original work with the same atmosphere and clever puzzles. It is really a wonderfully original work, and the second part is also good and enjoyable, And of course I love you guys and a fun reaction as always.
@@VecnasCurse86 Hello, for me, I started with "The Mysterious Affair at Styles". as it was Agatha's first novel, and I couldn't stop from then. I went through the timeline of all the novels in which Hercule Poirot appeared, and then the novels in which Miss Marple and the rest of the investigators appeared, as a kind of accuracy! I advise you to read (The Murder of Roger Ackroyd - Crime on the golf course - Murder on the Orient Express). Any one of them may be a good start, and of course there is "And Then There Were None" as it is considered one of her greatest novels. It may also be wonderful start for you.
Two beats in the movie I loved: The way Christopher Plummer was looking at Marta when she was freaking out looking for the morphine antidote was so tender, it always gets to me. After it's revealed Ransom grabbed a prop knife, him pushing it down with the little "eee-eee" sound effect makes me laugh so hard every single time.
Some of my favorite details are Beniot noticing the blood on Marta's shoe when they first meet & doing a double-take, The flashbacks showing Marta's foot not touching the windowsill but Ransom's _does_ scrape against it (leaving the mud behind) And Ransom's mom remembering Ransom giving the nanna cake, but when someone else tells the story, Nanna _already has_ her slice of cake, showing Jaime Lee Curtis has a more favorable view of her son than he deserves
What I love about Rian Johnson’s storytelling in this is that not only did he expertly play with the tropes of the murder mystery genre, he also understands the ways this genre plays with class politics. The fact that the Thrombeys, despite being politically different, all suddenly turn on Marta the moment their money is threatened is such a perfect commentary on the rich and their general fakeness in “caring” about lower class/marginalized people and how ultimately the rich will always side with the rich when push comes to shove because of entitlement and privilege, regardless of political differences.
Fun fact, Joseph Gordon Levitt is in every Rian Johnson movie and was the voice of the detective on the TV show Marta’s sister was watching at the beginning!
The scene where he interrupted marta and yells at the family was actually the casts first time hearing his accent, and all dialogue and reactions are genuine, including great Nana's laugh

My 1st watch, I thought Harlan was bluffing with the note. 2nd watch, I finally noticed the burn marks on Linda's other notes from her dad. And if Richard never threw the ball out the window, the dog wouldn't have brought it inside, and Linda returned it to the office and found the note.
The reason Blanc hits the piano key is because the interviews are heading into the weeds and that is his cue to the detectives to get back on track by asking specifically what time each family member arrived at the party. Not sure if you recognized him but the family's lawyer Alan is played by the legendary Frank Oz. Not only was he a master puppeteer with the Jim Henson company who later went on to direct many great movies like Little Shop of Horrors, but he is also the one who did the puppeteering and voice acting for Yoda.
I don't know if you noticed this but in the beginning when the police was questioning everyone, Blanc says something like "I'm a quiet observer of the truth" and that's why he plays a note on the piano whenever he can tell a lie from the truth
Really loved this movie. The stellar cast, the amazing acting especially from Daniel Craig and great story. Also as a side note, love seeing Oaks Gryffindor scarf in every video ☺️
I definitely underestimated this movie when it first came out. I had so many opportunities to see it with friends and on my own and just “Not my cup of tea.” Then, Sat down one day last Oct before Glass Onion came out and finally watched it…. Freakin’ Loved it!! Can’t wait to see you guys react to “Glass Onion”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in both Knives out films but only as a voice cameo. He's the voice for the crime podcast at the start in Marta's home and he makes a 'Dong' sound in the Glass Onion :)
The line deliveries in the scene where the family have assembled just before the will reading are so good- Chris Evans' silent "wow," the way various characters imitate each other, Michael Shannon's ad libbing. They put the fun in dysfunction.
The comment Harlan makes to Marta about some people not being able to tell a fake knife from a real one was foreshadowing the knife Ransom grabs at the end. Very cool detail!
I like the fact that you appreciated the actors and the background details so much. Most people focus exclusively on the plot, but to me that's only the beginning of its greatness. What a great cast of characters! It’s sad that this was Christopher Plummer’s last role (loved him since watching the sound of music as a kid lol). I love how even little comments like telling a real knife from a fake one, or the baseball/secret note thing all came full circle. I saw this movie 3 times in theatres when it first came out, and incidentally was the last movie I saw in theatres for a while due to the pandemic. Anyways, I’m so glad you guys had lots of fun watching this! 5/5/5 perfect score is something I agree with completely!
Christopher Plummer costarred in "Somewhere in Time". The most beautiful love story, and time travel! starring Christopher Reeves and Jayne Seymour. Watch IT!!!
Just wanted to say that I started binging your videos last month, and they're all phenomenal. I've tried a few other reaction channels and y'all are by far the best. You have fun and make it feel like we're just watching a movie with friends, but you also pay attention to what's happening and give really thoughtful responses to the film. Thanks for making such excellent content, and I can't wait to see more!
I completely agree, these guys feel like they’re just inviting us all to their watch party, and I love their analyses! They also seem so insightful and sensitive in the best ways, it’s been really fun watching their takes on movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, Pride & Prejudice, etc. Love this!
Another channel you might like is The Media Knights. They do a lot of analysis and look at the film making aspect. Their love of movies is genuine and great like the Badd Medicine crew!
These movies are brilliant in so many ways, but one of the most enjoyable things in both movies is seeing how much Daniel Craig is obviously enjoying himself! 😂 You can see how he's loving every minute of being Benoit Blanc! ♥️
In the scene where Ransom first received the tox report, he’s walking in and you see a row of brown jugs as they pan to him. Later, when Marta is showing him the note, you can see in the background that one of the jugs missing: the one he used to fire bomb the medical examiners building.
What I love about this movie is how it twists the whodunnit genre. We usually follow the dective and one of the trappings of the genre is that the dective is always successfull in the end. But then we learn that Marta is the killer and we want her to succeed because shes the protagonist. So there is this tension between the inevitability of the detective figuring it all out and the protagonist winning in the end.
Jamie Lee Curtis is absolutely amazing. She is stellar is everything. Still remember how excellent she was in True Lies too. She aint just a scream queen.
Daniel Craig is so much better as Benoit Blanc than he ever was as James Bond. You can really tell that he was having a blast with this movie (and the sequel).
Christopher Plummer is such a good actor. I loved him in Girl With A Dragon Tattoo, and of course Sound of Music. I actually got to see him live in concert with Julie Andrews in Boston, it was like a Christmas special they did like 20 years ago.
As a Dutchman, the expression "not a red dime" or "not a single red dime" interests me. I've never heard it before in English, and I think it might be a Neerlandism (Dutchism) the writers decided to use. In Dutch we have the expression "Geen rooie (rot)cent", which literally translates to the phrasing Harlan uses.
In German we have/had the expresson"(red)roten Heller" (Heller was somekind of small cobber coin). It's not used that often anymore since we got the Euro.
Knives Out is definitely one of the best mystery films especially when you want to root for Marta to get away with it and your shown Ransom as the true “murderer”. The Glass Onion is definitely worth the watch and if wish I highly suggest these mystery films: Enola Holmes 1-2, Murder Mystery, and CLUE.
Nice reaction guys! I would like to see you react to Pride and Predjudice with Keira Knightley and Matthew Mcfadyen from 2005 because its a movie guys would normaly probably try to avoid but I guess you three would like it. I personally have watched the movie countless times and I love it for its music, pacing, chemistry between the cast and cinematography. ..And of course for Jane Austens great story!
Such a delight re-watching this with you guys. I must admit I knew of the movie but never got around to watching it until I had a movie night planned with some friends for Glass Onion so I caught up and I absolutely loved watching both. Can't wait to see your reaction to the second one and your conclusions on which one you liked best!!
Evans loved every minute of it. It just comes off the screen. And what a suprise, Ryan R. said that the one thing in the end win him to come to Deadpool and Wolverine is that he can say that amazing long trash talk about Cassandra :)
Love this movie! Craig and his accent are amazing. :) Since you liked this so much, I wholeheartedly recommend the two Sherlock Holmes movies starring RDJ and Jude Law. Those two movies will definitely blow your socks off. The story, characters, action and humor are top tier! Again, really recommend those :)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of those deals where he's in every movie Rian Johnson makes, but often hidden. In Star wars, he was an alien, in this one he was the detective on the TV show that Marta's sister was watching in the very beginning ("WE HAVE THE NANNY CAM"). And in the new one, he's also hidden cleverly
Great reaction! I just adore this film. Fun and interesting with a great cast. And I love that Benoit Blanc is so smart but also kind and genuine. I’m so tired of the “asshole genius” trope that was so prevalent for a while. Would love to see y’all react to Glass Onion, as well.
Definitely look up the 2 deleted scenes, they really add to the motivation of Jodi and Walt and it was a shame they were cut, Cinemawins has a great 2 part video that points out so many little hints and is worth a watch. And Glass Onion is AMAZING!
I couldn't agree more, this movie is 5 answers all the way. Also, they did do an amazing and smart job with the cast because we're so used to seeing Chris Evans as the good guy that none of us saw him coming as the villain (I think) and don't worry Mason, we didn't see the "Ransom, are you back again already?" either so yeah, amazing movie and amazing reaction. Can't wait to see you react to glass onion 😎 P.s Can Diamond be in that reaction? I know he's super busy but could we have the entire group for that movie? Or did you react to it already? Thanks a lot in advance✨
Regarding the baseball: Richard goes to get the letter from Harlon then grabs the ball off the desk and throws it outside. The dog picks up playing fetch. Then Linda finds it and returns it to her fathers desk where she finds Harlon's letter to her. If Richard didn't throw the baseball, Linda never would have found the letter.
2 things i didnt see mentioned in the comments First in the beginning i think it was Mason Quinn who called the family "vultures" when they were chasing after Marta in the beginning. That made me laugh because Benoit ends up calling them "vultures at the feast, knives out, beaks bloody" at the end lol Second Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the voice on the show Marta's sister was watching in the beginning scene. I think Rian Johnson has him in all of his movies or something? So that was just a fun easter egg. Let's see if you can spot him in the 2nd one! (Along with another familiar face 👀) Great watching you guys react! And i can't wait for y'all to react to Glass Onion!!
The reason Harlan Thrombey gave his entire inheritance to Marta, and not to his entire dysfunctional family, is that she is very kind, caring, selfless, friendly, respectful, and humble towards him, something his entire family doesn't have and lacks within themselves.
Something that makes this movie great is being able to see how much fun Daniel Craig is having! After being used to a serious Bond this is such a fun change of pace and it really shows that he'a loving it! Makes it so much more enjoyable!
Glad you guys found this gem. To answer the question: Joseph Gordon Levitt did a voice cameo as the cop on the TV show Marta's sister was watching at the beginning.
I love this movie so much and its filled with so much detail. Like in the scene where Blanc and Marta actually meet, you can see him look down at her shoes. And _Glass Onion_ is filled with even more detail.
Joseph Gordon Levett is the voice on the TV show Marta's sister was watching at the beginning. JGV and the actor who played Trouper Wagner are in every Rian Johnson movie. Both has very small parts in Glass Onion as well.
I don't know if you noticed that the portrait of the late father changed. In the beginning of the movie he was frowning in the painting. But at the very end when all was revealed he now has a huge smile in the portrait painting. 😒🖼💉🔪🩸⚰🪦⁉️🕵♂️🔍🤮❗👍➡️😁🖼
The best thing about the ending is taht it supports what Harlan said in the beginning, that a fool cant distinguish a real knife and a prop one. Amazing!
I loved this movie so much and it was really awesome, with a stunning cast like Jaeden Martell from IT Chapter One and Two, Chris Evans from Avengers and Captain America, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson and many more of the ensemble of the cast in one big whodunit film. Also RIP to Christopher Plummer
You're beginning comment about not wanting to see Daniel, Craig and other things, reminded me of my reaction when I rewatched the movie Elizabeth, in it he plays a violent monk working to rid the Catholic church of her Protestant self, and I forgot how effing terrifying he is in that movie. And I had just got finished watching both of the knives out movies more recently than I had watched any of his other things. It was quite a shock, let me tell you, 😂😂😂
I loved this movie so much!! The reveal at the end totally blew me away that he switched the meds!!! I don't care who you are, I don't think ANYONE could have guessed that. I love all of the characters and how they all treat Marta but then say they will take care of her, but then turn on her in an instant. How they all have their own problems and how everything is just perfectly tied together!!! My only issue was I rolled my eyes at the "you / Hugh did it" line, that of course she vomits if she lies, and how on earth did the doctor feel when he told her on the phone that Fran was dead and Marta said "that's great news" like sorry, what??? lol But omg, the "Who-dunnit" mystery was insanely brilliant with lots of comedy and suspense!
Katherine Langford who played Meg played in the show 13 reasons why her Toni Collette ,Ana de Armas ,Jamie lee Curtis, and Chris Evans are the reason I watch this movie so much thanks for such a incredible reaction guys
49:03 Remember, right from the start she said they had a secret form of communication. And when she was talking to Walt before the will reading we saw her holding a stack of letters with that same rose symbol and a scorch mark on each of them
What a wholesome reaction. I really was/am obsessed with knives out movie in every aspect and now after long time watching this movie I am binging on reaction. This one too me was very delightful . Thank you Guys 🙏
24:57 ah man, someone else who remembers "Father Dowling Mysteries". Dude, I loved Father Dowling as a kid. A good traditional, cozy murder mystery show, like "Murder, She Wrote". I didn't anyone else remembered Father Dowling.
52:08 - Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in a cameo role in this movie, as well as Glass Onion, but I won't spoil for the latter. He voiced the detective on the show Marta's sister was watching near the beginning.
Just watched your guy's reaction to saltburnl.... decided to come here to watch your Knives Out reaction since you mentioned it in your saltburn reaction . I love Knives out. I watced this in theaters four times. It was when I first signed up for the Regal Movie Pass to watch unlimited movies. Each viewing I picked up on something new. To this day I remember my reaction on the second viewing of when Daniel Craig knew that Marta had something to do with it. It's when he first sees her he looks down at her shoe and he pauses for a second and continues to talk to her. I was so blown away with just that little moment that nobody cares to pay attention to because it doesn't seem significant at all I actually have a UA-cam upload of me reciting word for word Daniel Craig's monologue at the end of the movie
Not sure if you guys have seen it in your own time but I'd recommend Snowpiercer. Chris Evans is very good in it and the movie as a whole is fantastic. The TV adaptation is also very good and if you decided to watch that I would also be very happy. Mayhaps even Oldboy though not the American Spike Lee one. The original Korean version is far superior. The American one gave me the same feelings that Twilight gives Answer.
Did you notice that Harlan painting change: his face is quite sad and serious at the beginning of the movie, and at the end, when Marta looks at him (before going to the balcony with the mug), he’s smiling
It's only a cameo but Chris Evans is great in Scott Pilgrim Vs the World. Highly recommend it and it has such a big cast (Michael Cera, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Kieran Caulkin, Brie Larson, Jason Schwartzman, Brandon Routh)
Joseph Gordon levitt was one of the voices on the tv of the funny mystery show Marta’s family was watching “you burned his hands off to erase the finger prints” “you’ll never prove it” 😂😂
So Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been in several Rian Johnson movies and did the voice of the detective on the tv soap opera that Marts’s sister was watching. You don’t see him but his voice is there and he’s credited for it.

Jamie Lee Curtis is absolutely amazing. She is stellar is everything. Still remember how excellent she was in True Lies too. She aint just a scream queen.
Best surprise of 2019 for me. Went and saw this on a whim and it was an instant classic for me and my wife
Oh… The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! I loved that version - also with Daniel Craig - and hate that they didn’t make the other 2 movies with that cast.
I’ve heard it my whole life (grew up in TX) but it’s always been “not a red cent.” So cent seems closer to the Dutch saying than dime.
One of my favorite movies. Such a fun cast and stylish movie, very re-watchable.
Joseph Gordon Levitt was the voice from the TV mystery that Marta's sister was watching in the kitchen at the beginning of the movie.
I love how Oaks primary focus during the movie is the house and the property lol
I absolutely loved this movie. Saw it multiple times in theaters.
The greatest detective mystery and film ever! Masterpiece, chef’s kiss! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The twist was just ... chef's kiss. Didn't see that coming at all.
Yessssssss!!!!!! It’s awesome to see my favorite UA-camrs watching one of my favorite movies!
Yessss! My favorite movie of all time. Can’t wait to see what you boys think!
Can't wait to see you react to glass onion 😎
P.s Can Diamond be in that reaction? I know he's super busy but could we have the entire group for that movie? Or did you react to it already? Thanks a lot in advance✨
Diamond Dave is in fact in that one! :) We are all back in the saddle.
@@BaddMedicine awesome!! Can't wait then😎
Regarding the baseball: Richard goes to get the letter from Harlon then grabs the ball off the desk and throws it outside. The dog picks up playing fetch. Then Linda finds it and returns it to her fathers desk where she finds Harlon's letter to her. If Richard didn't throw the baseball, Linda never would have found the letter.
2 things i didnt see mentioned in the comments
First in the beginning i think it was Mason Quinn who called the family "vultures" when they were chasing after Marta in the beginning. That made me laugh because Benoit ends up calling them "vultures at the feast, knives out, beaks bloody" at the end lol
Second Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the voice on the show Marta's sister was watching in the beginning scene. I think Rian Johnson has him in all of his movies or something? So that was just a fun easter egg. Let's see if you can spot him in the 2nd one! (Along with another familiar face 👀)
Great watching you guys react! And i can't wait for y'all to react to Glass Onion!!
Of course now you all will have to do the sequel "Glass Onion, Knives Out"! Another great one!
The reason Harlan Thrombey gave his entire inheritance to Marta, and not to his entire dysfunctional family, is that she is very kind, caring, selfless, friendly, respectful, and humble towards him, something his entire family doesn't have and lacks within themselves.
this movie had James Bond, Capt. America, General Zodd and Yoda in it...the lawyer was played by Frank Oz (who voiced Yoda)
I love hearing Benoit tell Marta she's a good nurse. Always find it touching no matter how many times i hear it.
Knives out is one of my favorite comfort movies, it’s always so fun to rewatch, can’t wait for you guys to watch the second one!!
As always great reaction and for my Daniel Craig will always be James Bond .
I loved that this movie went back to actual good old fashioned true mysteries. They did such a great job!
You can see all the scorch marks on the letters Linda is looking at too. Nice little detail.
I love this movie so much and its filled with so much detail. Like in the scene where Blanc and Marta actually meet, you can see him look down at her shoes. And _Glass Onion_ is filled with even more detail.
I LOVE this movie so bad! Reminds me of Agatha Christie's crime novels, happy u guys reacted! Hi from brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷
EVERY TIME GUYS! Your reactions and commentary nock it out of the park! Love you all💪
🤜🤛
Joseph Gordon Levett is the voice on the TV show Marta's sister was watching at the beginning. JGV and the actor who played Trouper Wagner are in every Rian Johnson movie. Both has very small parts in Glass Onion as well.
I’ve been binging your videos guys, they are so addictive! Really enjoying your reactions 😊
Amazing!
Yes! 5’s all around! As it should be .
You guys have become one of my favorite reaction channel to date! Liking the video before I even get started!
Much appreciated 🤙
I loved this movie so much and it was really awesome, with a stunning cast like Jaeden Martell from IT Chapter One and Two, Chris Evans from Avengers and Captain America, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson and many more of the ensemble of the cast in one big whodunit film.
Also RIP to Christopher Plummer
Love this role for Daniel! And Ana de Armas…..a star is born! Hope you do Glass Onion soon!
THE most satisfying conclusion. And so many Easter eggs….
It was quite a shock, let me tell you, 😂😂😂
Here's the trailer for Elizabeth

Definitely checking this out
I loved this movie so much!!
My only issue was I rolled my eyes at the "you / Hugh did it" line, that of course she vomits if she lies, and how on earth did the doctor feel when he told her on the phone that Fran was dead and Marta said "that's great news" like sorry, what??? lol
But omg, the "Who-dunnit" mystery was insanely brilliant with lots of comedy and suspense!
This was the last movie I watched with my dad before I went to college. It felt fresh and it's one of my favorites.
Loved re-watching this with you guys, I knew you’d all get a kick out of it. I sure hope, you’re going to react to the second one ( sure you will).
Drops next week😁
@@BaddMedicine Cool, thanks. I’m very curious to hear your take on it, compared to Knives Out. :)
Christopher Plummer did play a rich businessman in All The Money In The World and The Lake House.
“No car chases”, you say? Well, there *was* “the dumbest car chase of all time”. 😄
The “Eat Shit” scene is one of the greatest scenes in all of movie history
36:04 me too. Like, Harlan died inside that house. Imagine his ghost is flying around the house😬
Happy to see this, can’t wait for you guys to cover the sequel Glass Onion too
Joseph Gordon levitt was one of the voices on the tv of the funny mystery show Marta’s family was watching “you burned his hands off to erase the finger prints” “you’ll never prove it” 😂😂
So Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been in several Rian Johnson movies and did the voice of the detective on the tv soap opera that Marts’s sister was watching. You don’t see him but his voice is there and he’s credited for it.
That Harry Potter scarf on Oak's mic is awesome. Love it.
