I remember watching The Fixx videos on MTV in the 80s. Its amazing how much great music was released in the 80s. I'm so thankful I was young in the 80s and got to enjoy all this great music on MTV. Thankfully UA-cam was invented so I can still hear and watch those great music videos.

Saw these guys in 1983 at holender stadium rochester ny .they opened ,flock of seagulls ,then the police syncroniscity tour .they blew those other 2 acts out of the stadium 15$ a ticket 80s were great
We saw them in Reno at a small bar on Grove Street in 1983 or 84. Man, they just about rocked that place to the ground. It was a special performance arranged by a local concert promoter and we lucked out, sitting in a booth 10 feet from the stage. Best concert of my life.
I bought this album, Shuttered Room I think it was called when it first came out. Absolutely great debut. There were alot of new wavish type bands out around that time but there was something about the Fixx that was above and beyond alot of others. Although you don't hear them that much on the radio anymore, you do once in a while and they've stood the test of time better then alot of their contemporaries from that time. Good music and lyrics. Perhaps reminiscent of U2 but with more of a pop sense. Not as political, but they did have something to say about current issues in Europe, at least on their early stuff.
You know a song is powerfully written when it is able to embody the circumstances and sentiments of people within a society with such accuracy that the lyrics themselves could be applied just as easily to the sociopolitical issues about 36 years later. Epic poetry.

All through the 80s, I wished for the sound of the 70s to not die out. From 1981-88, great songs were being written all over the world, but especially in Europe (99 Luftballons by Nena, Is There Something I Should Know? by Duran Duran {which included the great line “You’re about as easy as a nuclear war”}, and many more) about the fear of a nuclear conflict breaking out between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. Also, a lot of people were suffering because of recessions and high unemployment, especially in the U.K. under Margaret Thatcher. It led to British bands making great timeless punk and pop and new wave and New Romantic music. The Fixx really honed in on the issues of the day and made music filled with angst and disturbing images that still resonate today. And I think, like Midnight Oil in Australia, they didn’t necessarily aim for hits, but the songs became hits all the same because they sounded great and made a statement too. So you’re both right, but in different ways. And I just saw them live in 2017 and they still sound great, which cannot be said about every 80s band!

As soon as that synth kicks in around 2:07, I can feel that ocean breeze with me, as I can imagine myself speeding through the PCH, and no one else is on the road. I saw The Fixx on July 26, 2018 at The Rose in Pasadena, CA, and they were in top form. I was especially fixated on Jamie West-Oram on guitar and Dan K. Brown on bass during the entire set. Great musicians in a great band. Cy Curnin is a true frontman.

Saw them mid 2k's in a park Virginia Highland Fest Atlanta Ga. Missed them during the 80's. Friends and I had a blast. The band appreciated it since at one time they were playing arenas.
I was 17 when this came out. Now more than ever this song is relevant to the United States and those of us that served proudly in the military. I fear all we protected is lost on the generations behind us....

The media pushes empty bullshit specifically to dumb down the audience, and they have for over 60 years. A band like The Fixx could not get anywhere with today's audiences. I loved these guys in the 80s, bought all their CDs, then time passes and in 2012 we wanted to move, left northern MN and came to check out Bend, OR and heard about a free concert along the river, attended and it was....The FIXX for 2 hrs!! Made the move decision sooooo easy!
From the first guitar chord this song rocks. Great tempo, guitars and vocals. The FIXX deserved more credit for their great songs. Hope to catch them in concert sometime!

I saw The Fixx on July 26, 2018 at The Rose in Pasadena, CA, and they were in top form. I was especially fixated on Jamie West-Oram on guitar and Dan K. Brown on bass during the entire set. Great musicians in a great band. Cy Curnin is a true frontman.

Saw them mid 2k's in a park Virginia Highland Fest Atlanta Ga. Missed them during the 80's. Friends and I had a blast. The band appreciated it since at one time they were playing arenas.
Fortunate enough to see these guys this summer at a small venue in Newport News, VA. They're still awesome!
I loved The Fixx, they were a great group when I was in college. They gave me many hours of enjoyment.

Love this tune. I noticed a lot of music from the eighties had a "seriousness" to it, like this song, but totally lacking in most of today's music!
The media pushes empty bullshit specifically to dumb down the audience, and they have for over 60 years. A band like The Fixx could not get anywhere with today's audiences. It's the same reason most TV shows suck and the ones that don't are mostly on cable and subscription services. The masses no longer have the mental sophistication to understand, let alone enjoy, content with intricate meaning.
I loved these guys in the 80s, bought all their CDs, then time passes and in 2012 we wanted to move, left northern MN and came to check out Bend, OR and heard about a free concert along the river, attended and it was....The FIXX for 2 hrs!! Made the move decision sooooo easy!
