I only got to see 4 shows before Jerry left us so I'm listening to every show I can until I die. Thank you so much to all the people who preserved these shows, each incredible in their own way. Much love
76 about as chill as it gets. Just letting it happen. Nothing forced. Easy like Sunday morning. Like listening to a jam session in your living room. Perfection
This show was originally broadcast on the old WNEW-FM. I recorded it and played it constantly for years. I still think it was one of the best shows from the post Pigpen era. The Capitol Theatre itself burnt down several years later under questionable circumstances as I remember it. A Pep Boys auto store was built on the site. I have no idea what is there now.
1976 has so much going for it. You still have some of the 1973-1974 exploration. The drummers have not locked into that disco, uniform beat thing that would epitomize 1977. Keith's piano sounds phenomenal in most of the shows, and the mixes on most of these shows are balanced enough that you can really hear his piano. You also can tell the band spent time rehearsing -- most noticeable in their harmonies and interplay. Honestly, it is a year I turn to quite a bit now.
This was a great summer I was nine and my brother was getting ready to go get some fireworks from down south for the 4th of July thanks for sharing day job I'm going to play in the greenhouse right now
