Bob, like Jerry, just lives to play anytime, anywhere. Reworking this song is magic, and so generous of him to allow all of us to experience it all over again.
"What you are and what you are meant to be!" Thank you John Perry Barlow. Very cool version of the song with the sweet fiddle by Mr. Crosby. Sounds like a flute at times. Nice work all round. Jonathan Wilson is an intriguing artist and, of course, it's all possible because Bobbie survives! We should all be very grateful and I'm sure we are.
@Bob Weir ooh I jumped on in about '83 or so...The Saratoga show that year was the night before my high school graduation, that show made me a fan forever.
I have listened to this on Repeat, including Ripple, Whiskey in the jar, Uncle Johns band, and Eyes of the world, Sugar magnolia over and over and all they remind me of is my search and hunt for Abandoned Mines and our adventures inside. I wasnt old enough to go to Dead shows years ago in the 70's, so my memories are going to be where this music fits me best, the outdoors.........
Best reading of this I've heard in many a year, thanks for posting. Blew out the clutch on my first v'dub bus in a parking garage in Cleveland after my first Dead show. Syncromeshed the gears all the way home Cassidy style, even went out of my way to drop off a friend, those were the days indeed
Motorman Clyde Yes indeed, Mr. Clyde. And long May they run. Etched in our memories., I sometimes think those days will be with us always, truly synced out of time.
Only God creates truly ex nihilo, but some music makers... Holy smokes, where/how do they come up with this shit? It's God-like in it's beauty. God bless 'em & thanks to God for 'em. Bravo.
Hey this is such a cool Cassidy, one of my favorite traveling songs besides The Wheel. I REALLY want you to come here and play this little theater by the river, christen a new old town in true red white and blue style, wipe a smile on the old and young colonial faces in new old tucked away places.... Rat Dog refused the small venue, its small but so very virgin to a Bobby/Dead exorcise. You can park quietly on my street and I'll get you exclusive accommodation across from the theater in a masonic inn so you can peer amid in relative peace and quiet of the land o' pleasant livin'... Battle of New Or'lens would slip the repertoire right through the pre colonial ancient belfry tower. We can hang on my porch and mellow out if you like. There might be a player or two you'd like. Nothing historic ever happened here, on my porch, and nothing of local local ever makes the papers. Its as far from anywhere and as close as it gets. Quite grand actually. The bottle n cork, greatest R&R venue in the world is two hours away. Rat Dog melted it down with great medicine. Ousted the demons. DSO does good juju there too. Have I got an small discreetly sweet inland tour for you though.... just sayin... I want tickets.

RIP Barlow... You were/are a gift to humankind. The body of work you leave behind will inspire for a long, long time.

It does sound like a flute.
I maintain that Bob Weir possesses both one of Rock's greatest and most distinctive voices. This was a joy to listen to.
One of my favorite songs of all. So comforted that Bobby is still bringing it.
FUCKING A....Bobby's best
Bobby doing Little Feat's EASY TO SLIP is another one.
Well that certainly just put a smile on my face!

Wilson’s solo at the end…David Lindley would’ve been so much tastier here.
