Not gonna lie, this is probably one of the most helpful guides to maintaining a "non-starter" isopod culture I've ever come across. Short, sweet, to the point, and funny! Doesn't take itself too seriously, I appreciate your memes. Thank you for this!!
I basically followed what you said and only have 5 rubber duckies that I got 2 months ago and already have babies. I keep them pretty moist and cooler I think makes all the differance. I also have snakes so I put their waste and shed to feed them along with isopod food.
I tried raising rubber duckies a few years ago and they never produced and crashed after about 6 months. Really wish i had this video then i think it would have helped me a ton! But I'm inspired to try again, maybe not with Duckies, but probably another Cubaris sp. Thanks!
Great video and awesome channel! We met yesterday at the reptile expo and I purchased some rubber duckies. I set them up in my substrate mix and added some down to earth bat guano on your recommendation. They're well hidden today so I assume they're doing well! Thank you again it was great meeting you!
Thanks so much for this valuable information! I've learned a few things in your video which I've not found anywhere else - especially about the bat guano and the calcium carbonate powder - this is great! Thank you ^_^
I’ve just subscribed to your channel and would like to thank you. You did amazing job with this guide, I’ve just got my duckies and I’m really concerned about keeping them happy. You made my day with this video. Thank you 🙏🏼😊 Have one question. Do you think that pine bark from reptile shop added to substrate can harm my duckies?
Excellent guide! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. I noticed you have some different morphs mixed. Would the regular rubber ducky trait be dominated if I decided to mix them with blonde or pink? Thanks in advance if you decide to answer this question. I'm about to order my first 8.😃
Thanks for such an informative tutorial on the care of these fairly fragile critters. More confident to tackle the higher tiers of isopods. Perhaps, do you have recommendations as alternative for magnolia pod to breed the critters? It is difficult to source in Singapore.
Question: can I use my calcium carbonate with D3 supplement that I already have for geckos and amphibians? I wasn't sure if D3 would be utterly pointless, helpful, or even potentially harmful. Brand is Rep-Cal, ingredients are just calcium carbonate and vitamin D3 supplement.
I really like this video would appreciate a response because I'm wondering if I can use a set up exactly like this for some jupiter and capucino that I recently ordered. I think I could but if anyone thinks otherwise please let me know
I will be getting my rubber duckies this weekend. So I'm trying to get everything together. I'm getting the happy frogs soil and I am looking for the coco coir... however I wanted to ask your opinion on the coco Loco by the same maker as the happy frogs soil? Would you recommend it???
Hi, did you have to use the Happy Frog Organic series or just the regular? I notice they have a OMRI one and the old non-OMRI certified one. Are they the same?
Hi Sir, that is excellent materials especially for a starter like myself. XD May I ask if you add Charcoal to your culture? I have heard some people recommending those things before. Would just like to get your views on this. Thanks again!
@@isobelcottageexoticstv3233 That is extremely helpful! Thanks for your prompt reply on this. I'm excited about how my culture will change based on your advice. Thanks again and stay safe! ^^

I won’t use it for millipedes and other insects. Isopods are crustaceans and they are decomposers it may be harmful to the insects here’s my eBay store www.ebay.com/str/isobelcottageexotics
Asian cave dwelling isopods will also eat hardwood leaves, vegetables or dried crustaceans (gammarus) it’s not essential they will eat almost anything, above all they are decomposers
The person I got my duckies from told me to keep them at 80 to 85 degrees for them to quickly breed . What do you think about that? Also because I watched your video before getting duckies I am having success. Although I have been striving for 80 degrees 😳
They are from the caves and sometimes it gets up to 80F in Thailand during summer but it’s not all year round. Caves are usually colder than outside temp. The problem with high temp is they can dry easily
Are bat guanos considered fertilizers? And will that be okay if I just add small amounts, if ever? I'm hesitating if I should get it for my Panda kings and Amber duckies. Hopefully you see this :) Oh and just subscribed! Looking forward to more isopod care vids.
Maybe for cave dwellers isopods, my bat guano is from the organic potting soil like Fox Farm, and Happy Frog. I never have die out been using it for almost 1 year now and my duckies are producing like rabbits lol
When you mix your substrate you need to mix leaves in your substrate. They also go at the bottom of substrate at night. If you want to see them out at night give them butternut squash

I only used it to rubber ducky group like ducky, blonde, panda kind, white ducky
