So Scott, I found that oath serves as much more meaningful purpose to the corps members. the corps members themselves have gone on record saying that the words don't function as some sort of He-Man-like power-up. More of, it is a phrase that serves as a prayer or mantra with the intention of helping Corps members focus on the task at hand. Unlike the catalytic effect that saying "SHAZAM!" has for Captain Marvel, the Green Lantern oath is, in effect, a prayer or battle hymn, recited as a Green Lantern heads into battle, not dissimilar to the way a Catholic might gesture the Sign of the Cross before a trying or poignant moment.

Here is my opening for "GREEN LANTERN: THE NEW FRONTIER": Some time in the 1940s, little Hal Jordan, in his "Hop" Harrigan pajamas, sits in a darkened room, his rapt face bathed in the light of the green tuning "eye" of a 1930s radio, listening to the latest chapter of his favorite radio show, "The Green Flame", as Martin Finger recites his oath, ending with: "...beware my power, the Green Flame's light!" A couple of scenes later, the ring explains to Hal that it is advisable to center his mind on the battery while recharging it, and suggests he remember or invent something suitable. Hal immediately presses the ring to the lantern and recites the standard oath, ending with, "...beware my power, Green lantern's light!" Well...just a thought.
One of my favorite explanations for the oath - and with my senior memory, I can't recall where I read it - is that the time it takes Hal to say the oath is the exact time a ring needs to stay in the power battery to receive a full charge. By saying the oath, Hal insures that his ring is fully powered up for the next 24 hours.

I always like the version of the oath that I mistakenly thought was correct. It was essentially the same oath as the most well known one, with one small difference: The line "Green Lantern's Light" was replaced with "For I am light". To me, that line sounds more powerful and inspiring. He's not just using the light, he is the light. A guiding beacon for the world to follow, leading them away from evil and whatnot.

I created three Corps: Gold, Silver, and Bronze for idealism, rationalism/clarity, and cynisim, respectively. Swift Swalow Flashy means something really attractive, like, having a lot of money is flashy because every one wants money. Flashy stuff is stuff lots of people want. Like a new car. I like your lantern corp and oath because you're not trying to be cool or really strong, your lantern corp is creative and it looks like something that could really happen in the comics. Though it's not technically an oath, I really do like the self-brain-washing monologue of Mekros (a really lesser Batman villain)... There is a reason for so many different Green Lantern oaths. Hal Jordan once explained that the words of the oath didn't really matter, they were just inspirational and crafted to be relevant to the individual. However, what actually matters is the oath is a timing method to ensure the Power Ring was in contact with the Power Battery long enough to receive a full 24-hour charge of Emerald energy. Apparently, the Power Ring doesn't receive a recharge at all unless it receives the full 24-hour recharge.
I once wrote a semi-humorous piece called J*L*A, which, as the asterisks might indicate, was a mix between the League and the 4077th MASH from the TV series. Pierce was Superman, Houlihan Wonder Woman, Burns was Batman (who in the comics was a HUGE jerk at the time), and Winchester was Martian Manhunter (because of that awful JL TV Movie). The Flashes were Potter (Garrick), Blake (Barry) and Radar (Wally), while the Lanterns were Trapper (Hal) and BJ (Kyle). Given MASH's medical theme, I made the oath more like one a doctor would take : "By Lantern's Light and Guardians' charm, I first will try to do no harm. Not glare of day, nor still of night, shall keep dark evil from my sight. Let Those Who Worship (Standard ending)." Shortly after the JSA's 'permanent' exile after COIE, GL Salakk started reciting the Main Alan Scott version in the GL Corps book. One time, Katma Tui encountered a sightless race the Guardians wanted to recruit from, and the ring's oath had no meaning to them, so Katma used Musical Notes to create one. She noted that the new recruit had technically never heard of the GLC, since his language lacked all words needed for her ring's translator to function.

It is the 50th anniversary so it would be cool to see atleast one channel do a video about ted kord. Though Comicdrake has said that he plans to do something with ted kord since it is his anniversary.
Spyro the dragon tbh jaime reyes isn't all that old so the only real good thing you could pick up is his pre 52 series, generation lost is also good but it requires knowledge on Ted kord. I would also recommend highly picking up anything involving ted kord due to him being in the booster gold blue beetle movie.

We work hard on the app to post and blog the best content and we have our Pool Corps Oath: "In lamest day and dopest night No twinkie will escape my bite Beware our power by Pool Corps. light!"
I made up my own Corps, the Special Lantern Corps. They are powered by the turquoise light of burning passion, and they aren't, strictly speaking, a Corps of their own. When you are chosen for never giving up in the face of adversity, you glow with turquoise light but don't have a costume and you are roughly half as powerful as a normal Corps member. The Turquoise ring works best with another colored ring: When you put it on and are already a Corps member, the black of your costume becomes Turquoise and your power is increased x1.5. I came up with two oaths: "'Gainst frightening foes, And Traitorous fiends... Our passion WON'T stop burning! NO WAY!" Then I decided that wasn't cool enough. Now there is one universal oath: HRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! You have to scream and get into position like a DBZ character powering up. The louder the scream, the faster the ring charges.

I remember that so well i still love to say it."
How about when Hal would just hold his ring to the lantern and count to 10. It is not the oath itself, but the time it takes to say it that is important to the charging factor.

Here is my opening for "GREEN LANTERN: THE NEW FRONTIER":
Some time in the 1940s, little Hal Jordan, in his "Hop" Harrigan pajamas, sits in a darkened room, his rapt face bathed in the light of the green tuning "eye" of a 1930s radio, listening to the latest chapter of his favorite radio show, "The Green Flame", as Martin Finger recites his oath, ending with: "...beware my power, the Green Flame's light!"
A couple of scenes later, the ring explains to Hal that it is advisable to center his mind on the battery while recharging it, and suggests he remember or invent something suitable. Hal immediately presses the ring to the lantern and recites the standard oath, ending with, "...beware my power, Green lantern's light!"
Well...just a thought.

One of my favorite explanations for the oath - and with my senior memory, I can't recall where I read it - is that the time it takes Hal to say the oath is the exact time a ring needs to stay in the power battery to receive a full charge. By saying the oath, Hal insures that his ring is fully powered up for the next 24 hours.
A Little late but I have one for Iron Man/The Iron Legion:

Quick Explanation: Lines 1-2 are referencing the armor of course, 3-4 are references to the Arc Reactor, 5-6 referencing to Iron Man's time as a Guardian of the Galaxy (and desire to protect the earth in the MCU), with 7-8 referencing his role as an Avenger and the term "Mighty Avengers"
The Green Lantern mythos is one of my favourite mythos. The Emotional Spectrum, the various Corps, the entities, it's all so cool! :D

I always like the version of the oath that I mistakenly thought was correct. It was essentially the same oath as the most well known one, with one small difference: The line "Green Lantern's Light" was replaced with "For I am light". To me, that line sounds more powerful and inspiring. He's not just using the light, he is the light. A guiding beacon for the world to follow, leading them away from evil and whatnot.
Blue Lantern- We hope you do not win. We hope we won't lose our fin. Your hope to win will empower us. So don't put up a fuss. For we will we win, with hope of light!

I created three Corps: Gold, Silver, and Bronze for idealism, rationalism/clarity, and cynisim, respectively. Silver, I decided, would use their rings to dispell illusions, calm those who's emotions had overtaken them, and if nessecary destroy constructs of other Corps. The Silver Lantern oath goes like this:

I was hoping that you'd mention an oath I read of some time ago ( wish I could remember it better ) One member of the Lantern Corps patrolled a planet which was in permanent eclipse and had no concept of light and dark and of course lanterns. Their primary sense was hearing so rather than have a lantern they focused their energy through a bell. Their oath also reflected this and went as follows

During the whole War of Light collection, I remember someone saying that the oath itself isn't important, just the rhythm and tone of it, thus why aliens that can't really speak are still able to "recite" it.

There is a reason for so many different Green Lantern oaths. Hal Jordan once explained that the words of the oath didn't really matter, they were just inspirational and crafted to be relevant to the individual. However, what actually matters is the oath is a timing method to ensure the Power Ring was in contact with the Power Battery long enough to receive a full 24-hour charge of Emerald energy. Apparently, the Power Ring doesn't receive a recharge at all unless it receives the full 24-hour recharge.

I once wrote a semi-humorous piece called J*L*A, which, as the asterisks might indicate, was a mix between the League and the 4077th MASH from the TV series. Pierce was Superman, Houlihan Wonder Woman, Burns was Batman (who in the comics was a HUGE jerk at the time), and Winchester was Martian Manhunter (because of that awful JL TV Movie). The Flashes were Potter (Garrick), Blake (Barry) and Radar (Wally), while the Lanterns were Trapper (Hal) and BJ (Kyle). Given MASH's medical theme, I made the oath more like one a doctor would take :
"By Lantern's Light and Guardians' charm, I first will try to do no harm. Not glare of day, nor still of night, shall keep dark evil from my sight. Let Those Who Worship (Standard ending)."
Shortly after the JSA's 'permanent' exile after COIE, GL Salakk started reciting the Main Alan Scott version in the GL Corps book.
One time, Katma Tui encountered a sightless race the Guardians wanted to recruit from, and the ring's oath had no meaning to them, so Katma used Musical Notes to create one. She noted that the new recruit had technically never heard of the GLC, since his language lacked all words needed for her ring's translator to function.

My personal favourite comes from an Alan Moore story - probably titled something like "In Blackest Night" - where Katma Tui discovers a strange potential Green Lantern in the heart of a lightless expanse. With no concept of light or colour, he's unable to understand her initial explanation, but, after some creative translation, agrees to join the "F-Sharp Corps" with his own oath:

I would also recommend highly picking up anything involving ted kord due to him being in the booster gold blue beetle movie.
In your first vid you spent like 2 minutes rambling on about an analogy of some kid in freshman year of high school not buying you that xbox he promised. It was hysterical looking back on it.

I made up my own Corps, the Special Lantern Corps. They are powered by the turquoise light of burning passion, and they aren't, strictly speaking, a Corps of their own. When you are chosen for never giving up in the face of adversity, you glow with turquoise light but don't have a costume and you are roughly half as powerful as a normal Corps member. The Turquoise ring works best with another colored ring: When you put it on and are already a Corps member, the black of your costume becomes Turquoise and your power is increased x1.5. I came up with two oaths:

And Traitorous fiends...
Our passion WON'T stop burning!
NO WAY!"
Then I decided that wasn't cool enough. Now there is one universal oath: HRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! You have to scream and get into position like a DBZ character powering up. The louder the scream, the faster the ring charges.
Scott I first saw your GL oath videos and they made me subscribe to the channel, it tought it was pretty cool. Anyways, there has been a lot of improvement sure, but many people appreciate those old vids :).

Julie Schwartz (who is accredited for creating Hal Jordan ), in an interview about green lantern, was quoted to say that "I liked green lantern but once again I'm making a complete change, and to show how things are going to be different, while the golden age green lantern wore is power ring on the left hand, *dramatic pause*, I'm going to put it on the right hand... the only thing i kept was the oath... I remember that so well i still love to say it."
How about when Hal would just hold his ring to the lantern and count to 10. It is not the oath itself, but the time it takes to say it that is important to the charging factor.
