do you.. want suggestions for some good games you might like?
Having to get 69 Scooby-Doo snacks in the first level was their way of saying "get fucked"
I knew immediately what I was in for
Really inspired choice. I laughed
3DS: Oh, you haven't charged me in the last 4 hours? Shutting down!
DS: Oh, you haven't charged me in the last 10 years? Sorry, I'm only at 80% battery now!
the fact that I even used the DS Lite to capture gameplay in my *previous* gaming video too is wild. the battery will never die!
My wife's DS lite was sitting on my shelf since 2016 when my daughter asked to play Garfield a couple weeks ago. It ran for a couple hours before she charged it.
I went through this just the other day. was looking for my 3ds charger while the ds lite still had power after however many years.
Before I got my 3ds changer I had once left it in my closet for like half a year, and found it somehow still only on 3 bars
I've had my DS for a little over 15 years now, and it's still in good shape, battery and all. And I've played the hell out of it through all these years.
The Summoning Salt music 🤣
I had to lol
I was going to call out the same thing, but I missed the frame rule
Imagine a bus station...
@@weaselwolf made me snort out loud
I hate that I actually fucking listen to home on a regular basis, I even follow him on tumblr, I think it’s hilarious that he’s a meme bc the main song that’s a speedrunning meme is genuinely one of his best he’s ever made. New album coming soon according to a recent tumblr post
Anyways stream Resting State

I'm no ASL expert, but your sign language caught my eye as you were saying the lines (because my brain recognized your words matched your movements and automatically thought "huh, I wonder if he knew that was sign language" before you immediately said you were learning). You're doing well, keep at it!
hey thanks! I was so nervous to even try it on camera lol
I love speedrunning in general, but speedruns of obscure and/or licensed games are especially interesting to me, usually because they're the most busted games ever and watching people break games wide open is really fun.
If you've not checked them out, I highly recommend EZScape for videos about licensed game speedruns!
I love how well your “Yes!” and “Woo!” synced up with the music.
I played around with it a lot! Thanks for noticing!
The best thing about thr NerdSync notification is that you never know what hyperfocus its going to trigger.
Grats on the records Scott!
thanks! just need the mods to actually approve them! haha
"Find a game no one else has ever played"
I feel called out, I actually did that for several games about 12 years ago, including Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights which I held for two and a half years until someone else attempted it.
Your user name is awesome
@@TitularHeroine Thank you!
Every time I look on the website for games nobody has done, I see plenty that say it, but then I click and it's full of runs.
@@thebigdawgj Well it was definitely easier to find games without runs in 2011 than it is today
Wow, I can't believe we're both world record holders for speedruns in games that are equally difficult
I love that Scott managed to have two who videos go so wildly beyond their original scope, he had to make a third one about speed-running.
I'm spiraling lol
"And then I realized in was march and I haven't made a video this year..."
Story of my life. Depression suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
After so many years, you are still one of the few UA-camrs that legitimately makes me laugh out loud. Thank you for the endorphins. You have (in my personal opinion) a wonderful sense of humor.
Haha that's good to know!
*Oh heck yeah, a new HBomberGuy video!!!*
Close enough!
(guy looking at butterfly meme) Is this a Harlem Globetrotters licensed cookbook?
Look I'm working on it!!
Congratulations on your speedrun record!
Once the mods approve it!!!
I give much respect to speed runners. They play a game thousands of times, if not tens of thousands to practice shaving off a few seconds. There is mad skill in that. I remember watching a GDQ several years ago - which might have been years old at the time - of a speed runner playing Dragon Age: Origins. The player was playing a Japanese version of the game, as it has shorter cut scene times. The commentator asked the speed runner a question. I dont remember exactly why. I think a major plot twist happened in the game at that point and the commentator asked what the runner thought of it. The speed runner said, he doesnt know what he was talking about, as he never actually played the game as intended. Speed runners are a strange bunch of people.
To be fair, only the top top speedrunners of the more popular games/categories are playing that kind of effort-reward ratio. Most of us play the game way less and save much more time because that's what it's usually like. I say this as someone who has held multiple (un-tied) world records for _decent_ stretches of time. It takes a pretty large community of dedicated runners, routers, and glitch hunters to get a game so optimized that you can go 1000 attempts without a PB.
That's not to say that runners aren't strange people, but it really is more accessible than a lot of people think. You don't have to be an insane grinder to be a speedrunner, unless your only goal in speedrunning is consistently hold the world record for very popular category.
This has now become the “Scott finds topics to lead to roundabout ways to talk about how he loves his wife” channel, and it is genuinely the cutest thing ever.
That AND scooby doo
This is a banger of a video and I haven’t even seen it fully yet. Good job Scott
Hopefully it lives up to the hype!
How I left the most positive comment (without watching the video)
This kind of speedrun is actually used in Banjo-Kazooie (a game with Saves). there is glitch where you have an almost completed run of the game and then you load a new game and it starts off with all your moves and upgrades.
runs like this are entirely valid.
Fun Fact: I once got a bootleg copy of this game that claimed to be a Game Boy Color version (which obvs doesn’t exist, but 9yo me didn’t know any better), but it was actually just a copy of Scooby-Doo: Classic Creep Capers for GBC, and I ended up playing it and completing it. It was a kinda weird game with a creepy vibe and I don’t have too many fond memories of it because I only played it once (maybe this game could be your next speed-run). It was interesting how the box design was so convincing that this was supposed to be a GBC version of Cyber Chade, and I have to admit that I was disappointed that it wasn’t the game I thought it was gonna be. Lastly, I did play the PS1 version of Cyber Chase, made it to the final level, but never finished because it was too hard for me.
Someone get the Salt on the phone
Love the man
Instructions unclear. Got sugar on my phone. It's now too sweet to function.
@@greenstarlover1Got rice on my phone; soaked it in some water.
Oh my god. As soon as you pulled up the "elusive, hidden fifth category" and it said "password%", I laughed so hard.
As a sidenote, it really is amazing the art and animations that were created for these games, even if the actual gameplay was middling. The games are really pretty.
right?! they did a great job making each character have a ton of personality!
@@NerdSyncProductions Absolutely! and the backgrounds like the clown background were gorgeous
This channel accidentally became a Scooby Doo fan channel, and now it's accidentally becoming even more niche and turning into a Scooby Doo videogame speedrunning channel. And I'm here for it.
That actual cops line just earn you a like and sub
i just wanted to say i loved some of the little edits and skits in this video, scott!! we (your adoring fans) missed you these last few months !!
No way it’s legendary UA-camr, Seamus Gorman!
The algorithm isn't showing me your stuff on the home page. I'm glad to see you posted this. Congrats on discovering speed running.
I’m fluent in ASL as a first language, you did great! your signs were correct, I would just say to “enunciate” your signs more, your speed is really good (i was surprised that you’re learning but you still kept up with your english sentence while signing!) you just need a little more dexterity to make the signs clearer to see :-) keep up the good work!
I’ve also been learning ASL. Great to see one of my favourite creators on the same journey.
Also the video is great, as usual!
Have zero affinity for Scooby-Doo, but i will watch every single one of your videos on it because of your passion for it and sense of humor about it. Love these vids!
that means a lot to me!
You just helped unlock a bunch of childhood memories for me. I played scooby doo and the cyber chase non-stop on my gameboy back in the early 2000s
Summoning Salt music sells it
I found the playlist he made of all his music (which I've also linked in the description) and I couldn't resist using it!
Very well done ASL, Scott! I'd like to reccommend CaptainValour, the man whose nerd song ASL covers led me to speak it conversationally. He's done mostly JoCo songs, but almost all of the videos are subtitled with the signs he's doing. Switched at Birth and Dragon Prince also has good ASL and actual deaf rep, but is less conducive to actual teaching, since they're shows. (Switched at Birth's Daphne is also Abed's deaf love interest on Community.)
Hardest double take I've ever done seeing my friend's name come up on the leaderboard for this
8:44 I'm now imagining a direct-to-video Scooby-Doo movie that's a crossover with The Snowman, complete with Michael Fassbender reprising his role as Harry Hole. The gang goes to Norway because they accidentally thought the Snowman killings were being done by an actual snowman, not that the killer leaves a snowman as his calling card. But then the joke is that the gang proves way more capable than Harry or the police at collecting evidence and finding clues. I can see the poster right now: "Mystery Inc., you could have saved her. I gave you all the clues." And in this version the killer actually does start leaving cryptic notes for the gang to solve and understand the meaning of.
It’s gonna be a good day
fingers crossed!
This video was inspired by Storster's video about the shortest speedruns ever: ua-cam.com/video/JGEXhzafAj0/v-deo.html
As well as also being heavily inspired by Summoning Salt's now iconic use of music for speedrun videos: ua-cam.com/video/zR6fECxF44I/v-deo.html
3:42 I am all here for a learning Scott!
im glad i know almost everyone on Password% lol, gotta get my name there too one day
This is exactly the video I needed to see today, a wonderful confluence of several interests I love done by my favorite YTer
So many great memories playing Cyber Chase on the PS1 and GBA😭😭 I wish they’d remaster Night of 100 Frights!
Edit: wanted to add that I just recently got First Frights and Spooky Swamp for my DS and just the music alone takes me back! Scooby games are so nostalgic for me!
Night of 100 Frights is probably the most iconic Scooby game and I definitely have to play it on this channel!
I don't understand why everyone finds Night of 100 Frights so good. This game is so not fun. Unmasked is where it's at. Yeah, it's easy, but it feels good to play. NO100F is stiffer than Tomb Raider 1 and I have no idea where I'm going or what I'm doing. IN A LINEAR GAME!
I just want to say you've become one of my comfort channels in the past couple years, your videos never fail to put me in a better mood, so thank you for all of your delightfully miscellaneous Scooby Doo videos (and the occasional non-Scooby Doo videos too of course!)
You have no idea just how much I love watching your videos man, they just...feel so cozy and inviting, it feels like you're a neighbor that invites me to join him in whatever wacky kooky thing he's currently up to xD
Hope you're doing well man, have a nice day:)
There's nothing like watching this video and then realizing you have this game sitting on your coffee table.
Loved this video and your energy with how much fun you had with this silly speed running category shines through. I'll be super excited for the videos you mentioned at the end of this one but it's nice watching you just have a good time making something silly and risk free. Keep to the great work Scott!
This was the first video I have seen from you and it was so well made. Your presentation is on point, the editing is great, you made me laugh, basically you rocked it and here's a sub.
The editing is great in this! Really engaging!
This was a great video and I'm glad you put it out because it is a neat crossover of speedrunning and Scooby Doooooooo
Love the video!! And it was also really nice to see you use ASL!
I love how you can start a video with THAT music, and everyone immediately KNOWS
I had to lol
I've missed your vids, enjoy the vibe you put out!
thanks! I enjoy putting out the vibe!
Scott, just wanted to let you know I've seen all your videos from back in the comics days till now and I'll still here.
I don't even particularly like Scooby Doo, but I love experiencing your passion for it
I watched Scooby Doo when I was a child and saw the two films when they came out in cinema (I know there were three or four in total) and although I understand the concept of speed running I don't do it myself because I find it sucks the fun out of a playthrough. However, watching your passion for both topics is really inspiring. Love your channel Scott, been watching for a good few years now. Keep up the good work. :-)
Now you can do the advance hard version: that Clue game with the same idea of immediately choosing the culprit
Great seeing a new video from you in my feed!
thanks for being patient!
I'm really happy for you, Scott!!! Amazing video!!!!
That music made me forget I clicked on a nerd sync video and was surprised when Scott started talking 😂
Amazing work here, and a weird cross section of interests! Love seeing that! ❤️
Thanks! I didn't know how much of my audience was aware of speedrunning, so I tried to approach this video imagining that people have at least kind of heard of it before, while still explaining it a bit in the beginning.
@@NerdSyncProductions Fair! As someone else who has the same intersection of speedrunning and Scooby Doo love, it was a fun surprise of a video!
Man... I remember playing that game religiously when I was a kid back when I was a Nintendo head.
You either die the subject of a summoning salt video or live long enough to become the subject of a karl jobst video
You have no idea how happy it made me to see one of your vids on my feed and just as I'm starting my annual mystery Inc rewatch
cyber chase for GBA was the first video game I owned
As much as I was frustrated with it, I find myself still playing it on Em's GBA before bed sometimes lol
Playing on original hardware from your wife's childhood is such a flex. Shoutout to you guys. 🤘
A day when NerdSync posts is always a good day!
that's good to hear!
you’re back! always bringin a smile to my face
You know, the random culprit would have been a possibly cool aspect of the game if the game had an original story and if the mechanics weren't crap.
This video has inspired me, i shall go for a game sweep for levels and categories wr
Thanks for making this game dude
That scooby doo throw blanket brought back way to many memories. I had one for many many years and now i dont know where it went.
Hey you say speed runners are cooler then you but you are a great artist who’s videos entertain and inform in a style unique to you. Thats super cool!
Absolutely amazing video!!! I used to do scooby doo jigsaw puzzles as a kid lol
This is a good video and thank you for making it. Also, props to a legend sharing pieces of her childhood to help a partner get a world record.
This was one of my favorite childhood games man I can’t believe this is a real video
Congrats on your new world record, Scott! Looks like everything's comin up nerdsync
I couldn't imagine speedrunning games I like OR random ones because I feel like I'd get sick of ones I like and only get frustrated with ones I have no attachment to.
The joy and excitement in this video is just beautiful!
That was a Scooby-Dubious achievement.
can't wait for a discovery that you can beat the record by switching language or something
I've thought about speedrunning some obscure game just for fun, but I'm old and my brain is too hard to learn new things
my mum had a GBA when i was little. i think we had 3 games: a finding Nemo one, a Tomb Raider one, and this specific Scooby-Doo game. when you made your video about *a* Scooby-Doo game, i was surprised to learn it wasn't this one
fun fact! i was bad at all of them. didn't finish even one.
17:27 thats so true, Great video man! we proud
I actually loved the platforming part when I was younger and struggled with the ski levels. Loved it more than the PS1 version of the game. I'll have to try it again now that it's been so long.
Ahahah, the intro music is the perfect choice. It's just becoming synonymous with Speedrunning now.
I too am in a fun outfit and just hid for a lil bit. I have not as yet, however, gathered any Scooby Snacks.
I love this video.
Dang. How did he know I was feeling a little villain-y the day that he shot this?
That's a very funny password to even exist - it skips you to the choice of who did it, past any opportunity to see the clues, so you literally just have to guess. I suppose it must have been for testing the ending for the devs.
Love you doing more video game videos!!
Very close to real ASL!
One thing that takes a bit of time to learn when it comes to ASL is not signing every word in a phrase.
"How are you doing you wonderful nerds" is too much signing, it would be shortened to "How you wonderful nerds do?" The phrasing has to be more fluid and not have words that are clear from the context.
(Spouse is deaf is where I get my credentials)
Fun video! Can't wait to see the cookbook one as someone whos last job sold a bunch of licensed cook books
it'll happen eventually!!
Fun video and congrats on your speedrun
thanks!! (once the mods approve it lol)
I snorted my drink when the video started with Summoning Salt video. Nice touch lmao
You have GOT to find a reason to cover Mystery Mayhem on the GBA, I grew up with that game as a kid and adored it lol
Thank you for your wonderful silliness and obscurity Scott, jave a great day, heck have a great week!
16:50 me celebrating at home with you 🎉
I dug out my Game Boy Advance and my copy of Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase and I can confirm I was finally able to beat this game, twice. The first time I put in the password and picked the wrong person, then I went back to the password screen and the password was saved and then I picked the right person.
I’m hard pressed to think of a more monumental speedrun
Cant wait to see the 3 hour speedrun history of this scooby day game
I love button mashing /gen. In the tetris world they've developed specific techniques to hit the buttons at a rate that would be impossible to maintain normally for a prolonged extent of time
Damn, I actually played this game as a kid. I didn't have a lot of other games, it did the job.
Just Scott being a silly guy and talking about something interesting. Always the best.
When i graduate I'm going to do a run of the game slower than scott so he doesnt have to be last
