The 'tiny gerbil' is named Boo. He's actually a miniature giant space hamster, and the ranger companion to Minsc, a ranger friend you can have. As for the squid shit and dragons, the squid people are called Illithids, or mind flayers, if you prefer. Basically psychic alien like creatures that reproduce via a parasitic tadpole that latches into your brain via usually occular insertion. The dragons are rode by a species called the Gith, specifically Githyanki, a former slave species that broke free from the illithid empire. Their first leader, named Gith, made a pact with the dragon goddess named Tiamat. So the Gith are given red dragons. Whether they're 'good' or not is kind of perspective. Regardless, the Githyanki spend most of their time hunting down the illithids. Oh and the Drow elf lady that saves you, that's a secret.
@connorblack99 yeah, the dialogue he has implies that the game expects him to join early, but I just never came across any if the starts to his quest until I was scouring for stuff to do.
One key distinction for Boo, which I think Mercer flubbed, is that he isn't a giant miniature space hampster, but instead a miniature giant space hampster. And for lore not covered in BG3, the miniaturization of a giant space hampster makes it very smart and also telepathic. Minsc seems bonkers (which he is) talking to this itty bitty animal in full conversation, but he's the only one attuned to it. I fuckin' love the BG universe!
@@eugenewqw997 I know, had that impression of him all the way back, then when I finally got him he's suddenly able to wear heavy armor and has a stealth button and charm animal... along with berserk!
So Minsc is yes a ranger but he is also a barbarian in a sense, Ranger's among his people are also Berserkers (barbs weren't a class in 2.0 DND which is the rule set the first BG used where Minsc as a character was created) But yes we know for a fact boo is fine the process of making a giant space hamster mini causes them to have great rage and power boo is basically a god because he was made mini @@idnyftw
The gerbil is a space hamster named Boo, he's a long time companion of Minsc, a ranger companion from the past Baldur's Gate games. The long time catch phrases for them is "Go for the Eye's Boo!"
So excited to watch this reaction! They also had some animated shorts made as trailers as well I highly recommend, they’re comically VASTLY different from the game tonally but they’re still fun and involve all the original VAs having a good time, and those VAs are genuinely one of the best parts of the game. There’s also their character intros if you’re interested in continuing looking into this! Thanks so much for checking this out, can’t wait to watch!! :D
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I’d also suggest he character intros they suggested, they’re short minute clips of the characters from the game and their story.
i think you two should play this one, on your own time even if you dont want to make it into content. its a super good couple co-op, relaxing, you can take your time if you want, and very thought provoking. i like having note books for these kinds of games.
If you do play it I highly recommend two things. 1. One of you maybe even both of you should play with a high charismatic character. It will make the dialogue feel better until you get used to failing and realizing its not always bad, just different. 2. Take your time when it comes to answering the questions. It is crazy how impactful the decisions you make become. Especially when you leave the first act. Most conversations are important so don't rush it take your time. Finally and this is just a suggestion. You can do whatever you want. Which is part of the beauty of the game. However, I would recommend not save scumming. In a story the heroes falter sometimes. Fail at parts of the quest even if they succeed in the end. This game was designed for failure. It may not go the way you expect and that is part of the fun. It is also my reason for points 1 and 2. If you have a character who is really good at persuasion, deception and intimidation you will not fail in dialogue too often. And if you take time in making your decisions you are less likely to regret them as you play. Ultimate just play and have fun. I'm 50 and I've been playing RPG's my entire life since Tunnels of Doom on a Texas Instruments computer. This is the best RPG I have ever played hands down, its not even close. For me at least.
The hamster's name is Boo- and like everything in this game- its all about your decisions. The squids are call Illithids and they're one of the big evils of DnD as a whole. You should totally play this game though! It's so much fun and I'll be disappointed if it doesn't win Game of the Year! Edit to add: the tadpoles are how Illithid reproduce.
One of the best crpg’s ever. The nuances of even some of the little things in interactions change depending on the class, race, sub race, sib class, background, etc. So, even though you’ll interact with many of the same places and people, each play through feels unique depending on what you choose to play and how you choose to play. That’s not easy to do. But it’s definitely what a dungeon and dragons game should offer.
You've never played other DnD games huh?? Try Neverwinter nights, path of exile and Torment.... Also Kotor if you want to feel the good mechanics of 3rd edition
@@dirzz I'm still going to disagree with you on that... dated doesn't mean it's the worst there's a reason why DnD fans still flock to Neverwinter nights... A feature that I'm surprised larian didn't feed on.... A Campaign creator..... The game doesn't feel DnD if you can't get crazy on your own wacky adventures which is Why Neverwinter nights is still the best DnD game while BG3 is the best CRPG
Larian's only real imagination was putting all the story together honestly, everything that you can do in the game is DnD lore for years already, just until now nobody had put it in a video game so absolutely perfectly. Larian are gaming gods.
I play this game every weekend with my Husband we love this game since we met at a DnD party... This game resonates with us Soo much and I know you guys will love it since it's also Split screen co-op Edit: it does not need you to learn some DnD lore but knowing helps understanding the story a lot deeper... So try the UA-camr Pointy hat of you interested in Lore
"the Tiny Gerbil " Is a Hamster named Boo and is probably the most protected critter in any Dungeons And Dragons universe. The animal companion of the mighty warrior ranger Minsc... Now Minsc is not the most inteligent guy out there but he's friendly and protect his friends whatever happens. That includes Boo that is possibly his closest friend.
The small gerbil is a pet of one of the companions. Hes from Baldurs Gate 2 and 1. And the pet has the ability called "Go for the eyes" which just cracks me every time.
Don't worry, the gerbil is the most powerful entity in the universe ;) Also, we really don't want to spoil the game and it's story, like who that lady was who said "I saved you". This is a game that you definitely want to go in blind. Having some background knowledge of DnD is fine but we cannot spoil the game lol.
Ah mind flayers, a little piece of H.P. Lovecraft in the Forgotten Realms. I'm currently doing my playthrough of this game as well... Started as a Half-Orc Barbarian, but quickly shifted to a Tiefling Warlock going down the Dark Urge path.
"GO FOR THE EYES BOO! GO FOR THE EYES NNRRAAAAGH!" Funnily enough the mind flayer transformation in the first trailer is actually...tame compared to how it actually goes. Like the way Ceremorphisis is described makes it sound like your skin doesn't so much change as it ends up peeling off to reveal the Mindflayer beneath. And as Gale in game would say, "Tis a fate to be avoided at all costs!" But the Mind Flayers turn you into one of them, you as a person and everything you are dies in the change and their perspective on other races is essentially, "You exist to serve us as cattle exists to serve you."
I love how in-your-face the game gets with very D&D-specific stuff very early on. Githyanki riding red dragons to take out an illithid nautioloid. That's some serious inside baseball.
It's not a tiny gerbil... it's a MINATURE GIANT SPACE HAMSTER! ...named Boo. :D Felt so bad on my evil play when I had to talk to Boo and he were sad. :'(
The gerbil is a miniature giant storage hamster and space hamsters are incredibly dangerous and powerful. This one's name is Boo. Highly recommend playing and finding Karlach. She's the most adorable person to have ever existed.
I played baldurs gate 3 and the the allies you get within the game went to become my friends. their voice actors are so good that it felt like family hearing them around me all the time. I already miss laezel and shadowheart, what a bunch of lovely people to have around me.
First thing first: don't worry about the "gerbil", that is Boo, a mini giant space hamster and he and his partner, the human ranger Minsc, are some of the most beloved NPCs ever, they won't touch them. The squid headed thingies are Illithid/Mind Flayers (I'll shorten it in MFs), basically aliens once commanding a multidimensional empire thanks to their incredible psionic powers and the whole "larva in the eye" and the dude mutating are actually the beginning and the end of their reproductive cycle: infect an host and mutate it into another MF. The dragons... ok, it's a bit more complicated: any self-respecting evil empire has slaves, right? And the MF empire was no different, with their most common slaves being those greenish skinned humanoids, the giths, with generations going by, the giths became resistant/immune (depending of the edition you are playing) to psionic powers and rioted against their slavers. Now, the gith were many BUT they needed help... and here come the dragons, specifically the RED dragons. What you need to understand is that red dragons are never good news, they are the most cruel dragons out there, and proudly so! They actively gloat about being evil incarnate! Red dragons are, however, also prideful to a fault and clever: prideful enough to hate the idea of an empire not ruled by them and clever enough to know challenging an empire of psionics is no easy feat. And here it all ties together: a branch of the giths, the githyanki, made an alliance with the red dragons to bring the MF empire to its knees, and they actually managed to do so. Now the MFs are rare and scattered, but still very much a threat, constantly trying to rebuild their empire, and whenever a MF pokes their ugly squid head out of whatever hole they were hiding in, githyanki and red dragons are ready to remind them why they were hiding in the first place, with EXTREME PREJUDICE... much to the chagrin of anyone caught within blast radius of a very angry fleet of firebreathing cackling humongous psychopaths ridden by equally angry gecko people. Sorry for the long post, I hope this made things a little clearer.
Yall should definitely check out Baldur's Gate 3! Definitely the game of the decade for sure. Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring have marked a great era for gaming :D
Squidhead haha, I love it. They're actually called mindflayers, an evil, hiveminded space faring race. They're one of D&D's most iconic monsters, and if you play tabletop dnd you recgonzie the transformation in the first trailer immidietly. Was quite a big thing when it first dropped.
the intro cinematic is a plot that goes deep. dragons attacking the flying squid monsters, seems like good vs evil, but really it's morally ambiguous and involves a conspiracy that goes back eons
Although the CG trailers and cinematics are neat, there are individual trailers for classes that elaborate on more gameplay stuff. Could be fun to watch… 🤔
So a while back you did a reaction to the Mystic Artes from Tales of Xillia 2, and those were really fun! However, I'd like to request two videos, because they are both slightly above 5 minutes, so combining them into a single video would make a lot of sense. Tales of Berseria: All Mystic Artes AND Group Victory Quotes Compilation
The thing is, in dungeons and dragons, red, blue, black, white, and green dragons are arseholes whilst gold, silver, copper, brass, and bronze dragons are the good dudes. Also their all sentient and can speak.
You reacted to it a year ago I think but Lies of P finally came out. It was the Dark Souls, Bloodborne style Pinocchio game and you guys should def give it a try its absolutely gorgeous!
Well leaving you with more questions after watching the trailers is basically the purpose of the trailer to captivate you without telling you the story so you wanna play it and go through the story yourself so they made pretty good job with that. It’s really refreshing seeing that, since all the movies trailers will give you all the plots and you don’t need to even watch it anymore.
The tiny gerbil is a miniature giant space hamster named Boo. He is a mighty warrior and he is definetly very fine. But you can also actually throw him at enemies to deal damage and every character has a different voiceline for that where they're hyping him up.
D&D has a well-established story that has evolved and been fleshed out throughout the years. Many of the races, classes, and creatures such as the Mind Flayer(aka Illithid or the squid heads) have been around for a long time. The concepts behind the parasite implantation are also well known. Likewise, the game Baldur's Gate is located within the Forgotten Realms which is a fantasy region from D&D. BG is based on these same creatures, and locations, and plays with the D&D ruleset. It also has well-established characters and story such as Minsc (a comical and somewhat insane Ranger) and his friend Boo (a Miniature Space Hamster) going back to the first game 25 years ago. Some of my favorite quotes from Minsc in Baldur's Gate: "Take heart fellow adventurers, for you have curried the favor of Boo, the only miniature giant space hamster in the Realm!" "Butt kicking for goodness!" "Go for the eyes, Boo, go for the eyes!" "Cities always teem with evil and decay. Let's give it a good shake and see what falls out!" "Squeaky wheel gets the kick!" "When the going gets tough, someone hold my rodent!" "Boo must have his exercise, lest he bite us all in hard to reach places." and finally; "Jump on my sword while you can, evil... I won't be as gentle!"
Mind flayers truly are terrifying villains, even though I find them a but goofy looking. Playing through the game I was fully drawn in and wanted that parasite out as much as my character.
Squid head. Squid Head. Rollie pollie squid head. So, the thing my wife and I love most about this game is that Larion Studios actually hired writers. They write a world that's deep and the characters actually have some depth to them. Really well done. There are still bugs, but Larion is addressing them. Also, some fun addons to play with (I LOVE modding).
I’m currently doing a play through with my partner! I would love to see you guys play it, its a lot of fun and theres so many different paths and outcomes.
Welcome to the main world of Dungeons and Dragons! Here's some brief - and horrifying/metal as hell - context to the Cthulhu-lookin' folks: Those guys are called Illithid, or Mind Flayers. Real big on psychic/psionic power, used to run a huge empire that fell long before the events of this game. The tapole you saw is literally how they reproduce. They implant them in hosts - as you saw - and then the little guy goes to work, eventually transforming its host into another mind flayer in the process you witnessed first, called ceramorphosis. The ship's called a Nautiloid, and is basically like an organic, living mind flayer ship. The riders of the dragons - and the gal that got tadpole'd with the viewer - are called githyanki. Former slaves of the mind flayer empire that made it their whole purpose to exterminate any Illithid they can find. I'm glad you guys enjoyed these trailers! And I genuinely hope you give this game a try; it's a really fun romp and has some great character writing for the most part!
"Gandalf" is Elminster Aumar, one of the most powerful spellcasters in the Forgotten Realms, and he's been around since 'Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'. In his lifetime, he's been a fighter, a female cleric of Mystra (goddess of magic), became a bodiless spirit, and finally a male wizard.
So bit of backstory on the second trailer: the person who got the tadpole before the POV character is a githyanki, as are the people who were riding the dragons. They roam the different planes of existence hoarding knowledge and furthering the goals of their lich-queen Vlaakith. Once upon a time, their race were enslaved by the illithid (aka mind flayers, aka squid people), but one of them found they had the power to resist the telepathic influence of the illithid and then that led to the rebellion that set them free. There was also a bit of a civil war among the gith which led to them splitting into the githyanki and the githzerai (not going to go into what exactly it was about as it gets covered in BG3). Anyway, at some point Vlaakith makes a pact with the evil dragon god Tiamat which gives the githyanki who have proven themselves worthy a dragon to ride as they travel the realms. So they weren't there to protect the city, they just showed up because if they find any trace of illithid activity, they will try to wipe it out. Them being interdimensional raiders is also how they open up portals to give chase to the nautiloid (the illithid ship)
So the squid face guys are called Illithids or more commonly known as Mind flayers and they reproduce kinda like the xenomorphs from aliens in that they implant parasites in other races to make more of them which is what you saw in the second trailer and the first trailer is the chest bursting equivalent of the life cycle. The dragons are not exactly "good" they are red dragons and in d&d they are like the poster boy for bad guys and the dragon riders are a race called githyanki (same race as the one who got the tadpole in the eye) and they're not really good guys either they're kinda space pirates 😂 Would love to see a playthrough of BG3 from you guys (it can be played coop) and if you wanna know who the elven person that saved you is you're gonna have to 😉
I am 395h into my first playthrough of BG3 and I swear i feel like there's thousands of story lines that i didnt even get to finish because the game is THAT huge.
The squid men are "Illithids" (mind flayers), they are known for being highly intelligent and wielding powerful psionic abilities. The tadpoles are inserted into the eye and make their way into the brain where latch on and eat away the brain matter until it matures and replaces the brain. Once it has replaced the brain, the host then undergoes Ceremorphosis, the final stage, which is the transformation to an Illithid. (which is what you saw in the first trailer)
Been many years since I played such an amazing crpg as Baldur's Gate 3. Each origin character has their own content and despite having played multiple runs, there have been many differences, based on companions and choices.
Great reaction! These trailers definitely leave you with loads of questions if you don't know the story😅I'm currently at around 75% of the game in my first playthrough on PS5 and let me tell you it's so much fun! There's so much to explore, discover, so many different storylines and not a single fetch or collecting quest that has nothing to do with the characters, story or world. Everything in the game is there for a reason. It's a huge game. I'm like 150 hours in and I'm still far from finish it. The joy of BG3 is the curiosity to explore and solve things on your own style and pace. The game doesn't hold your hand on how to do stuff. Depending on the stats of your characters and those of the companions, you can talk your way out of trouble (and even in some cases, boss fights!). You can do stealth as much as hit on collision. The freedom is yours to approach the conflicts with what you have at your disposal. Also, the characters are such a treat! Not only the companions, but also allies and NPCs here and there. Most people have something to say, a story to share, or something to provide that may even be of use for you and whatever questline you're trying to solve. So talking with everyone and exploring really pays off most of the times. And yes, the game is heavily based on the D&D rules and system. So turn-based combat, rolling the dice for everything that requires a skill check, etc. It's worth checking out if you're into that kind of thing. Also, Larian Studios has a open channel to their fans, listen to them, release hotfixes and patches addressing what the fans let them know that's not working in the game and they have a great sense of humor and love for their project. You can search for them here on youtube and in their official channel you'll find videos with their very colorful way to promote the game and communicate updates and progress (when the game was in early access, which was for 3 years). This was lengthy, sorry🙈
This is quite honestly one of the best games ever made, it's currently crushing Starfield in player numbers, a game with one of the two biggest publishers in the industry in Bethesda and Microsoft behind it and a game that is probably one oof the most anticipated releases since Cyberpunk 2077 (which you should also react to as the 2.0 patch + Huge expansionis coming out and renewed interest will be there in the week to come). Bethesda and Microsoft so cocksure of themselves they intentionally released on the same day and called them and dismissed Baldur's Gate 3 as a 'second-run Stadia PC RPG' and Larian had to release a month early to adjust and get out of the bigger title's way. But now after Starfield's opening weeks come to a close and a fucking month after Baldur's Gate 3's release this "tiny" game made by a studio 5 times smaller and with a tenth of the financial backing is beating them handily (in concurrent player numbers) and if you try it, it'll be obvious why. It's using a a simplified DnD ruleset. Almost no knowledge of Faerun (the world DnD takes place in) or Baldur's Gate 1/2 is needed to get into the story as it's for the most part a new conflict set-up with some callbacks AND it's also 100% co-op which is rare for an RPG and Larian is unique in the way they allow two players to play their games at once. Their last title, Divinity: Original Sin II was pretty much universally lauded when it came out but this is an improvement over that in almost every way which is pretty fucking incredible for a CRPG, a genre most gamers once considered outdated and for "niche" audiences. Seriously if this doesn't take GOTY 2023 that shit is rigged. PS: It's a space-gerbil
“Second run” means a second wave of release. It’s not meant to be diminutive it’s simply a term meant to mean a rerelease. Microsoft said it wouldn’t have a big impact for game pass was because by the time they’d get the game for game pass it would be well after the PC and Stadia release and a lot of the mainstream buzz around it would die down
The elven chick is the player's "Guardian" which the player makes as part of character creation. A fairly deep character creator it is with many races + sub-races on top of classes + sub-classes. Dungeons and dragons based. Trust me, this game is one helluva ride.
I was expecting another Neverwinter Nights and got so much more! Amazing doesn't begin to describe it. Certainly clears up the mystery of how Illithids bolster their numbers...not a pretty sight to be sure!
The Guardian that saved you....your question is something that all the characters ask themselves for a while. Through the questline, you'll learn who they are and why they saved you. Taht first trailer shows Ceramorphosis, which is how Illithids create more of themselves. It takes about seven days after the tadpole is inserted in the eye, and it's horrifying and painful. It's all part of D&D lore, but this is the first videogame that has focused on this bit. It's an excellent game, and I highly recommend it. Excellent story, with real, sometimes devastating choice consequences.
Love this game to bits, I'm a lady of stories. More trailers for you to check out if you're interested - the animated ones, the Game Awards (2022?) trailer, the release teaser trailer... If the 'tiny gerbil' looking misplaced gave you a giggle, that release teaser trailer (with the more romantic scenes) might give you a laugh 😂 Edit: Oh, and the character origin introductions! Make sure you get the one with good audio if you fancy watching it.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGamesWow, thank you for replying! Sorry I'm late. In case you'd like to check the character introductions on your own time (or otherwise haha) I'd recommend the one by Vikan Gaming. 'All Origin Character Intros' Yep, this one specifically is what I'd recommend. It's just that one of the most viewed ones has poor audio, for some reason? I gave it a quick look before commenting and thought I'd better warn you 😅 probably because these intros are in the game and some people have better setups than others for capturing footage.
So Baldur's gate, it's a setting within the D&D universe. It's a top down rpg with turn based combat, and easily game of the year, potentially the best rpg to release since the witcher 3. Regardless, it's a must play type of game and being 4 player coop. You two would probably enjoy the time spent in it. I know I loved every minute of my first 150 hour playthrough. And I intend on starting a second playthrough soon. Explaining who the purple elf lady is, is one of the major plot points so would be spoilers, All you know at the start is that you get to create what she looks like and she's your "guardian"
The girl who saved her is known as the guardian. You can fully customize your guardian and they will basically be your guide throughout the game. They are also the reason you don’t transform.
7:14 This is JK Simmons, sounding the least like JK Simmons that he ever has. One of his dopest roles and I had to read the credits to even know it was him. This is coming from a fan of his work too.
That’s a miniature giant space hamster named boo, he is the brains behind the heroic ranger known as Minsc😂 both from the original games, should look up some bg3 minsc vids he’s awesomely hilarious
The first trailer really nailed the "ceremorphosis"(transformation from whatever race to "squid people"). It's supposed to be gruesome and it really was. Everyone dream about teeth falling out at least once in their life and this is worse xD
Red dragons on the 'good side' that made me giggle. No, the Gith are not 'good'. This is all known D&D lore, Larian was creative how they depicted what is usually theater of the mind.. The illithid (squid people) reproduce that way. also Boo the miniature giant space hamster is the BEST.
I put 141hrs into the game, so far. I can safely this makes one on my top games played and definitely my game of the year. The customization and storytelling is just amazing. If was for sure a game made with love of the game and not a love of money.
It seems we've had a lot of good things (games) come out this year and in the past few months. Games we've been waiting for (including 'Baldur's Gate 3') have finally released and games that have undergone significant changes. I feel super spoiled this year, and I love it!
I find it really cool and interesting with the amount of people since Baldur's Gate 3 has come out, that aren't familiar with Mind Flayers. (The Squid people) Which first made an appearance in 1975 for fun Trivia. While elves and dwarves are pretty common elements in fantasy I forget how little exposure Mind Flayers have had over the years despite them being around for half a century. In a nutshell they are one of five things in a DnD setting if I had to choose, that would make most RPG Parties second guess even getting into a fight. Just a single one is rated to be a challenge for a party of four level 8 players, and they are rarely ever alone. moving in groups of 3-5 that often also have a number of minons comprised of one of the many races they have enslaved. Hyper intelligent beings that have developed psychic powers including a ranged mind blast that can stun on impact for 3-12 turns of combat, At will (meaning no limit to uses) Spells like a form of charm that works on all creatures. (AKA Can't attack them, if you fail the save, until attacked first) Levitate, Detect thoughts, Plane shift (Able to teleport to different planes of existence), and even Suggestion, which they can implant ideas into your head and make you believe them. If that wasn't scary enough, in close combat they get 4 tentacle attacks that can latch onto your face if they hit, and if a character hasn't freed themselves and all four are attached on them by the next time the Mind Flayer's turn happens, Player gets one last chance to free themselves or die instantly from brain extraction. The big ship you saw, can also Plane shift essentially as you witnessed, so they travel the realms and spend their days looking for new slaves and host vessels and with the abilities I mentioned one bad roll can really turn fatal pretty quickly.
If you want a short funny video about Baldur's gate watch ,, 3 halfling barbarians" What? The content is in the title. What more could you want than "3 halfling barbarians "? Oh, and they blow stuff up, I guess....
Adore this game. If you're not used to isometric (high angle camera and click-to-move) games then the gameplay might not appear that impressive at first glance. But it's genuinely some of the most satisfying combat I've ever experienced. The story is pretty good, but more importantly, the characters are all wonderfully-realized and so lovingly crafted. These aspects alone are worth the price of admission. On a meta level, this game's and its studio's underdog story is a marvel in itself. That this game exists in this day and age is miraculous. Like any game, it has flaws, and even its strengths won't appeal to everyone. But even if it's not your cup of tea, BG3 is worth celebrating.
The girl in the trailer who said I saved you was not an elf, but a Drow. Again without spoiling, it's your guardian that you create at the beginning. So the person who saves you wont look like her, but will look however you designed them to look.
Me and my wife have spent over 300 or more hours and many more to come I would highly recommend it for the both of you, There is spilt screen so you both can play, That squid creature is called a Mind flayer, In the dungeons and dragons universe they send those tadpoles in your brain to make you into a mindflayer same concept in the game
really hard recommending this, you guys can play it co-op, and pretty much works as an intro to dungeons and dragons for folks who haven't tried it on tabletop

@Galantus1964 it hurts that Minsc is so late in the game. He was one of the last things I hit before the end.

It took me 150 hours to make it to Act 2..
Damn.. I beat the whole thing in 50 hours ig that could be considered a speed run in comparison lol
I'm at 423 hours and only dipped my toe in act 3... So many act 2 playthroughs had me going "oh, maybe this class would be cool" aaaand restart.
@@mydrillasanjay5397 yes, my first playthrough took about 120 🗿

Calling Minsc Boo's pet is hilarious
Minsc is more of a ranger, but yeah :D
The way he behave before getting him on party board is a 100% barbarian, imho 99% of players would thought like that@@idnyftw
"Tiny gerbil" is in fact the mighty miniature giant space hamster Boo!
Do not underestimate his strenght or his wisdom
If you're familiar with the D&D universe you will be amazed by the game. If you're not I highly recommend. This game is a true gem
I'm not familiar with DnD universe still highly recommend it
If you’re familiar with D&D you will be confused with different ruleset
I played this game 300 hours after only owning it for 3 weeks, this game is AMAZING

The gerbil is a space hamster named Boo, he's a long time companion of Minsc, a ranger companion from the past Baldur's Gate games.
The long time catch phrases for them is "Go for the Eye's Boo!"
the tiny gerbil is infact a miniature giant space hamster named Boo, and he isnt in danger, he is the danger
Omg yes, t5he character intros, not enough people checked those out istg!!
Animated shorts sound fun thanks for letting us know about them 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I’d also suggest he character intros they suggested, they’re short minute clips of the characters from the game and their story.
i think you two should play this one, on your own time even if you dont want to make it into content.
its a super good couple co-op, relaxing, you can take your time if you want, and very thought provoking. i like having note books for these kinds of games.
It’s co-op and there aren’t a ton of good couch coops so we for sure want to play it 🙂
The hamster's name is Boo- and like everything in this game- its all about your decisions.
No it's an absolutely terrible CRPG. It's a really good Dragon Age, though.
@@acrab6527oh, you're so original
You've never played other DnD games huh?? Try Neverwinter nights, path of exile and Torment.... Also Kotor if you want to feel the good mechanics of 3rd edition
@@PaulaAmato22 bg3 is head and shoulders above those games. Which are great btw, but very dated.
This game ended up being my Game of the Year. It took me by complete surprise just how good it is.
This is probably my favorite game this year after tears of the kingdom. 3 playthroughs later and still hop into a few sessions a week...
Gotta love a game with that much replayability 😀
The tiny hamster is called Boo and it's actually a pet of one of the origin characters back from Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 games from 20 years ago.
Game of the Year. You should absolutely play it.
I play this game every weekend with my Husband we love this game since we met at a DnD party... This game resonates with us Soo much and I know you guys will love it since it's also Split screen co-op
Edit: it does not need you to learn some DnD lore but knowing helps understanding the story a lot deeper...
Don't worry, the gerbil is the most powerful entity in the universe ;)
Also, we really don't want to spoil the game and it's story, like who that lady was who said "I saved you".
GO FOR THE EYES NNRRAAAAGH!"
Funnily enough the mind flayer transformation in the first trailer is actually...tame compared to how it actually goes. Like the way Ceremorphisis is described makes it sound like your skin doesn't so much change as it ends up peeling off to reveal the Mindflayer beneath. And as Gale in game would say, "Tis a fate to be avoided at all costs!"
But the Mind Flayers turn you into one of them, you as a person and everything you are dies in the change and their perspective on other races is essentially, "You exist to serve us as cattle exists to serve you."
Felt so bad on my evil play when I had to talk to Boo and he were sad. :'(
The gerbil is a miniature giant storage hamster and space hamsters are incredibly dangerous and powerful. This one's name is Boo. Highly recommend playing and finding Karlach. She's the most adorable person to have ever existed.
The narrator in the third trailer and the voice actor of Ketheric Thorm is none other that JK Simmon aka Not Quit My Tempo Jonah Jameson
Don't worry at all about the "Gerbil". Boo, the miniature giant space hamster, is an absolute boss. He'll be just fine. "Go for the eyes, Boo!"
Brain eating Mindflayers and illithid tadpoles, you do not want them to get inside you.
They are also called the Illithid!
Minsc and Boo stand ready. Go for the eyes boo, GO FOR THE EYES!!!
Oh don't worry about Boo. He is a vicious killer with a taste for eyeballs.
the intro cinematic is a plot that goes deep. dragons attacking the flying squid monsters, seems like good vs evil, but really it's morally ambiguous and involves a conspiracy that goes back eons
Phenomenal trailers, the cthulu looking guys are called mindflayers. And those look like flying nautilus creatures. Stay awesome as always you two
Although the CG trailers and cinematics are neat, there are individual trailers for classes that elaborate on more gameplay stuff. Could be fun to watch… 🤔

The tiny gerbil is actually a miniaturized giant space hamster and dont worry, he has plot armor.
The thing is, in dungeons and dragons, red, blue, black, white, and green dragons are arseholes whilst gold, silver, copper, brass, and bronze dragons are the good dudes. Also their all sentient and can speak.
I'm barely 30hrs in and still in act one of ny first playthrough. This game is MASSIVE
Some of my favorite quotes from Minsc in Baldur's Gate:
"Take heart fellow adventurers, for you have curried the favor of Boo, the only miniature giant space hamster in the Realm!"
"Butt kicking for goodness!"
"Go for the eyes, Boo, go for the eyes!"
"Cities always teem with evil and decay. Let's give it a good shake and see what falls out!"
"Squeaky wheel gets the kick!"
"When the going gets tough, someone hold my rodent!"
"Boo must have his exercise, lest he bite us all in hard to reach places."
and finally;
"Jump on my sword while you can, evil... I won't be as gentle!"
Really gives a whole new meaning to "I think I got something in my eye." 😐
Mind flayers truly are terrifying villains, even though I find them a but goofy looking. Playing through the game I was fully drawn in and wanted that parasite out as much as my character.
Squid head. Squid Head. Rollie pollie squid head. So, the thing my wife and I love most about this game is that Larion Studios actually hired writers. They write a world that's deep and the characters actually have some depth to them. Really well done. There are still bugs, but Larion is addressing them. Also, some fun addons to play with (I LOVE modding).
Ngl i laughed when you two nearly barfed during that first transformation cuz that was my exact reaction myself 😅
I’m currently doing a play through with my partner! I would love to see you guys play it, its a lot of fun and theres so many different paths and outcomes.
BG1 and 2 were the best games of my childhood, and I'm so glad Larian did that legacy justice.
Welcome to the main world of Dungeons and Dragons! Here's some brief - and horrifying/metal as hell - context to the Cthulhu-lookin' folks:
Those guys are called Illithid, or Mind Flayers.
In his lifetime, he's been a fighter, a female cleric of Mystra (goddess of magic), became a bodiless spirit, and finally a male wizard.
this game is just outstanding, for me personally, the best game in the last decade
The dragons are not exactly "good" they are red dragons and in d&d they are like the poster boy for bad guys and the dragon riders are a race called githyanki (same race as the one who got the tadpole in the eye) and they're not really good guys either they're kinda space pirates 😂
Would love to see a playthrough of BG3 from you guys (it can be played coop) and if you wanna know who the elven person that saved you is you're gonna have to 😉
Mind Flayers make new mind flayers through the tadpoles they put into people. The tadpole takes over n a new Mind flayer comes about.
Ever since I got this game I've been forced to make two difficult decisions. Basic Needs or Baldur's Gate.
I recommend the bard and barbarian trailers too, they are a lot of fun
I am 395h into my first playthrough of BG3 and I swear i feel like there's thousands of story lines that i didnt even get to finish because the game is THAT huge.
You guys should watch the 4 barbarians video for Baldur's Gate 3
Glad this game is doing so well. We love cheering for an underdog 😁
A fairly deep character creator it is with many races + sub-races on top of classes +
sub-classes.
If the 'tiny gerbil' looking misplaced gave you a giggle, that release teaser trailer (with the more romantic scenes) might give you a laugh 😂
Edit: Oh, and the character origin introductions! Make sure you get the one with good audio if you fancy watching it.
How do we know which one has the good audio 🤔 is their a creator that made it?
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGamesWow, thank you for replying! Sorry I'm late.
In case you'd like to check the character introductions on your own time (or otherwise haha) I'd recommend the one by Vikan Gaming. 'All Origin Character Intros'
Yep, this one specifically is what I'd recommend.
They are also the reason you don’t transform.
trust me you dont need to worry about the gerbil.. fear not for the gerbil, fear for his enemys
it's Boo! miniature giant space hamster. He is the brains behind the brawns with Minsc, who are from the prequel.
It is danger that fears Boo, the Miniature Giant Space Hamster. When evil shows it's monsterous face, Boo goes for evil's eyes!
If you guys have never played D&D, I highly recommend a playthrough. Its an incredibly satisfying experience.

Miniature giant space hamster, Boo is fine !
the squid people are called mindflayers
I put 141hrs into the game, so far. I can safely this makes one on my top games played and definitely my game of the year. The customization and storytelling is just amazing. If was for sure a game made with love of the game and not a love of money.
It seems we've had a lot of good things (games) come out this year and in the past few months. Games we've been waiting for (including 'Baldur's Gate 3') have finally released and games that have undergone significant changes. I feel super spoiled this year, and I love it!
In the midst of chao, destruction, and otherworldly beings... of COURSE the first point of concern is 'are the cute, fuzzy animals ok?'! Priorities!
dont worry about boo, boio i stough GO FOR THE EYES BOO, THE EYES!

What? The content is in the title. What more could you want than "3 halfling barbarians "? Oh, and they blow stuff up, I guess....
The early Access on his was Amazing now playing it its undescribeable its devine
Mind Flayers. You got an up close lesson on the thing that inspired the Stranger Things villain of the same name.
I hope you take a look at the origin characters intros because they are so cool
really hard recommending this, you guys can play it co-op, and pretty much works as an intro to dungeons and dragons for folks who haven't tried it on tabletop
Playing it on ps5 and loving it! Also love your reactions and thoughts as always!
Both of you need to have a game or coop of Baldurs gate.
Love this game. It actually is a first for me in many ways and in being so it just shows how much I really like it.
