That game is similar to Baldur's Gate and even though the inventory and skills management can get tedious and annoying, I'm still addicted to it. You might want to try out these types of games at least for a couple hours to know if it is something you will like especially since it is more slow paced than stuff like Doom and God of War.
A game with infinite options and plenty of ways to go about dialogue can end up kissing the feet of goblins and telling the other goblins whether you enjoyed it or not, convincing bosses to kill themselves before you even realize they're bosses, and choosing whether to have sex with a big buff elf man in his humanoid or bear form... it's the perfect game

There was actually a bug in the game that made everyone extra Attracted to you and basically forced you into flirty chats without you even going in that direction, basically imagine one day everyone in your life started being super horny towards you, this was how the game was in the first few weeks. So it just came off as a very horny game by default which wasn't the case. Alot of this stuff you can skip or not head towards if you're like me and find sex scenes extremally awful and awkward in video games, awkward animations and the camera trying to hide the parts just make everything look like two dolls going at it lol But as a whole the game is very good just wish more people online in the more mainstream community actually talked more about stuff beyond the sex scenes and romance. Kind of annoying seeing these two aspects being the only things you see when looing up Baldur's Gate 3 in youtube videos, Twitch etc. I love the Game of Thrones but it would be like everyone talking about the sex scenes and you're like "Yeah but what about everything else" lol Edit: Why do actual animated porn videos have better animations and edits than video game sex scenes.... I don't get that but there still so very awkward in Baldur's Gate 3.
I've been using Tumblr (Yes, cringe I know) and there may be a lot of shipping talk there but there's a good anount of just fan stuff and character analysis there too. Probably the only reason I use Tumblr still since it literally CAN'T be swamped with nsfw art so it doesn't clog up fandom stuff.
You know, as complicated as it looks, BG3 is a perfect game for a new gamer because there Is no pressure on you at all gameplay-wise. You make it as complicated or noncomplicated as you want, and you can take as much time as you want or take it as slow or fast as you want. And as a writer, this DnD style game might be such a creative treat for you because you really make your own story out of it.
Would definitely love seeing you react to the review + GF review! I genuinely loved playing this game. It shot into my top 3 most impressively written games of all time, both because it's really well written and because there's just *so goddamn much of it*, and every single thing you think of is somehow accounted for. Also, my favourite part of it was playing dress-up by stealing every outfit I could find around the entire world.
I have 170 hours so far on my first play through. The voice acting is excellent, along with the art direction, combat mechanics, freedom of choice, and character writing. Your actions in this game actually matter, and can influence the story in large ways. Highly recommended
It's actually harder to just be friends than it is to NOT have everyone wanting your arse, you can end up having people saying they love your very smell and trusting you with their lives and heart in act one, before a night even passes. Past that, it's very well put together, I was fearing it would just be divinity sin 2.5 but it somehow slides over that.
Hannah I've been a fan of the channel for years and I need to stop lurking to pop into your comments section (5 months too late) to say that Baldur's Gate 3 is a masterpiece. It is addictive from both a gameplay and narrative perspective. As a writer I have every bit of confidence you will really enjoy it. Hope to see some Baldur's Gate content from you at some point in the future!
Best thing aboout the game is the cast, because they really love the game. They've started a D&D campaign together recently. Jennifer English (Shadowheart's VA) and Devora Wilde (Lae'zel's VA) are hilarious. Jennifer also plays the game with her girlfriend (who she met while working on this game, she was her voice director) which is also great.
Just felt the need too say that Baldur's gate is one of the few games where you can as you have said many times before "just be friends instead". lol have a great day all and keep em comin.
I think theres 2 reasons letsplays have become so popular. 1 for people who want to vicariously relive an experience and 2 for someone who wants to experience the story but wouldnt like or couldnt handle the gameplay themselves but arent opposed to seeing others struggle through. So yea that being said with the nature of baldurs gate3 you can see things play out drastically different on many play throughs though the main story obviously is what is. I dont know how many characters we meet along the way that are actually important to the story though since it seems like almost anyone can die and the story will keep going.
Worst part of the honest trailers was that all they had to do was press the little "+" icon on the right at the end of the row at the bottom to add another layer so you don't have to keep scrolling for your spells
You should watch the movie "Dungeons & Dragons - Honor Among Thieves", it's based on the same universe. They even talk about the city of Baldur's Gate in one scene. And it's a very fun movie.
The Attack you never use on your ice mephits is their best attack. You want to target an enemy, not an area, it often does low teens for damage, but it also has a chance to knock the target Prone and it puts down an ice patch that people can slip on.
I read a bunch of DnD lore and stuff but I never got a chance to play the tabletop stuff with anyone, but BG3 is soo good that as a side effect people have started to play the tabletop lol
14:35 the character creating part of these games always takes up the most time for me, so no shaming here! And yes, apparently you can choose to circumcise your wood elf! (I wonder if there's a Ken doll option...)
best part of BG3 is that you CANT play it wrong way. Not because it will force you, but because ammount of freedom and options is on some CRAZY level. So, naturally, its really good for someone who never played before (not only in that kind of rpg but games at all)
Great game. Took me 118 hours to finish my first play through and I missed several things. This is the closest any developer has come to replicating the tabletop in a video game.
Yes, this is an advanced game with lots of options and stuff, but one thing it is _not_ is stressful in the same way as God of War. Combat is turn based, so it works like a board game, you have ample time to check through and select what action you want to take, which is what the Carbot animation was joking with.
I have a feeling that you'd probably really love this game for its narrative depth and the pacing that lets you take as much time as you need for anything you want to do. It's true that there's a lot of systems in the game and lots of customization that can be done, but you can choose to play as one of the premade characters that would otherwise join your party instead of making your own custom character. By the time you have to make any decisions, you'll understand the basics well enough to make an informed choice. The game is extremely long though, not something you'd likely want to stream, but definitely something I'm confident you'd enjoy on your own time.
in baldurs gate 2 you can even have a baby with your elf cleric, and he appears as an item that occupies your inventory slot, along with your familiar if you also have one... that game pretty much introduced the idea of romanceble party members to western video game spaces
You should watch Baldur's Gate 3 companion named Karlach. That big red devilish looking woman (aka Devil May Thighs). You can have her in your party or play as her. She is huge ass warrior with hell's engine inside her chest which makes her constantly burn hot. Her former boss sold her to Hell as a devil's prize warrior. Meanwhile she is most wholesome person in game. And she remind you a bit :D
I bought the game with no clue what D&D is and im now at 400+ hours played in a little over a month (5 weeks or so) and I think you should GET IT its such an awesome game even if you havent played any titles before or know nothing of D&D
@08:05 If you were to give it a chance, then I would recommend making story mode your first experience. Then there is little pressure to optimize any of that complexity, and you can pick some of it up by osmosis as you go along. In a sense I'm recommending that should you chose to try a crpg game, it might be useful to treat that entire first play through as a tutorial of sorts.
HannaH's Slaanesh reference is the best thing i've seen today, and it's 6:30 and i'm watching it with my breakfast! Honestly, amazing how you've been indoctrinated into gamer culture. ^^
If there is one game you should play, it is this one. Even though it is BG3 you don't really need to know what happened in 1 and 2. It's a long game but it is so wonderful in how it is made and written that I really can't recommend it enough. It is also really good gateway into forgotten realms. Also calling blades of chaos shum-shums is really funny.
I'm so glad you did the trailer reactions as well, would love to see you react to more BG3 stuff! If you like animations there's also two videos of an official animation collaboration between the developers and Mashed. The first one's called 'Baldur's Gate 3: The Greatest Foe - An Animated Short' and the second one is called 'Baldur's Gate 3: Launch Party - An Animated Short'. They're only 2-3 minutes long each and the characters are voiced by the same voice actors from the game. They give you an idea of the character personalities. Maybe you could react to those along with the review?☺
definitely try the game out for stream, you will love the writing and story with all the good voice acting! Also no worries about reaction time or anything because you can strait up put the game on story mode for easy difficulty, combat is turn based meaning you knee jerk reactions you can take your time on your turns to figure stuff out or read spells, ect The romance is also completely optional like you can strait up avoid it and just be good friends with your companions who each have their own fun stories to experience with character growth that causes even the ones to annoy you to be interesting. Game also has a good amount of different endings, also the dude with the grey beard and long hair you saw is voiced by omniman/J. Jonah Jameson peter parkers boss lol he wants both pictures of spiderman and world domination XD
The carbot animation of the game, is hilariously accurate. Also everyone in the game is thirsty to the point where you need to use a proverbial spray bottle to fend them off.
Hannah, I think you'd be genuinely fascinated by this game as a writer. It is perhaps the pinnacle to date of a true RPG where dozens and dozens of choices you'll make through the game can result in wildly different outcomes. To give a vague example, you can meet a character who, if you make certain choices, can literally end the game and cause the credits to roll at 2/3rds of the way through the main story they wrote. Alternatively, you could never even meet this character. Or a hundred other possibilities just involving that character alone. The level of effort they put into this is WILD and basically unheard of in game development these days, which is one of the reasons this game has generated so much discussion. It really is kind of a magical unicorn. Yes, it's very horny, but in a progressive and sex-positive way. And yes, it's complicated and gives you a lot of choices. That might put you off, which is understandable, but there's nothing wrong with playing on an easy difficulty just to enjoy the story & characters. You don't need to be an expert to fiddle your way through, and eventually you'd get a strong grasp of the basics ans be fine. I solemnly promise you would love the characters in this game and the incredibly charming way they're written and performed. Consider putting this one on your list. I'd love seeing your reaction to it.
ye there were some bugs (quite a few) at launch but its because game if fcking massive (i done single playtrough in 100h and i feel like i missed out on A LOT) so im doing second run and 20h in game already feels SO different...this is one of the best games in years also they fixing A LOT of things no stop..it shows how much they ACTUALLY care for the game
It's "just" a session of a tabletop roleplaying game (based on Dungeons & Dragons) where the computer plays the role of the Dungeon Master. It's in a specific setting with specific types of interactions allowed, so it's more restricted than real D&D in that sense - limited by what the developers programmed into the game, as opposed to a real-world game only restricted by the imagination of players and a human DM - but it's a pretty good introduction if you enjoy the setting. The only downside (also present in real D&D) is that going in unguided can be extremely overwhelming. The best advice is to just go for it, let yourself try weird things and make mistakes, and then you'll know better for the next campaign/playthrough.
It might be important to note that Baldurs Gate 3 is a turn based game. So you have all the time to view your options. The best part is to let play things out since failure can make more interesting outcomes then a succes. I'd like to see the IGN and Girlfriendreview reaction. There are also 2 small animated short videos on the Larian Studios channel which are a great watch. Quick explanation of turne based game systems: Imagine a card game like poker or what ever you want. You look at the table play your hand as you see fit and end your turn. The other players do the same and then it starts over after everyone did something. If you play solo with a party of 4 characters just means you get to play 4 different hands during one round. I am about 100 hours in, 70% through the main story and planing at least 1 maybe 2 more runs solo.
@@HannaHsOverInvested They're not kidding - Gale, the wizard you can have in your party, basically decided he had the hots for my character when all I did was make sure he didn't die in a giant magical explosion that would kill us all. That bug just made him be like, "your strong desire to not die horribly is making me VERY aroused." It also didn't help that some of the dialogue options that were considered to be flirting could also be easily read as just trying to be friendly, which is sadly an experience you are probably all too familiar with as a woman since many guys in the real world will think of any friendly interaction with a woman as being flirting...
Fun fact: Yes, not only is sexy times a thing, there was a bug at launch. All the companions were something like 10x thirstier than they were meant to be. Everyone was down after 1 or 2 conversations. The community has asked Larian to not fix this. This is fine.

So it just came off as a very horny game by default which wasn't the case. Alot of this stuff you can skip or not head towards if you're like me and find sex scenes extremally awful and awkward in video games, awkward animations and the camera trying to hide the parts just make everything look like two dolls going at it lol
But as a whole the game is very good just wish more people online in the more mainstream community actually talked more about stuff beyond the sex scenes and romance. Kind of annoying seeing these two aspects being the only things you see when looing up Baldur's Gate 3 in youtube videos, Twitch etc. I love the Game of Thrones but it would be like everyone talking about the sex scenes and you're like "Yeah but what about everything else" lol
Edit: Why do actual animated porn videos have better animations and edits than video game sex scenes....
This has been getting game of the year all over the place ^^ I think you would really enjoy it
It's actually harder to just be friends than it is to NOT have everyone wanting your arse, you can end up having people saying they love your very smell and trusting you with their lives and heart in act one, before a night even passes.
Past that, it's very well put together, I was fearing it would just be divinity sin 2.5 but it somehow slides over that.
Carbot animation is amazing. I laughed so much with their Elden Ring ones, and I'm so happy they're doing bg3.
I can not stop laughing. XD *And that's also a spell in Baldur's Gate, a very cool one at that*
Just felt the need too say that Baldur's gate is one of the few games where you can as you have said many times before "just be friends instead". lol have a great day all and keep em comin.
The replay ability of this game is huge. and the story is everything that keeps you hooked in the game. As a writer i would think you would love it.
Worst part of the honest trailers was that all they had to do was press the little "+" icon on the right at the end of the row at the bottom to add another layer so you don't have to keep scrolling for your spells
This game is actually pretty great, not gonna lie.
Lookin great today, btw.
Thank you!
You should watch the movie "Dungeons & Dragons - Honor Among Thieves", it's based on the same universe. They even talk about the city of Baldur's Gate in one scene. And it's a very fun movie.
I would LOVE to see you reacting to "Watch for rolling rocks 0.5 a presses"
That would melt your brain XD
Fun fact: this game is so good some devs have to go on social media telling people to not expect this kind of quality from every studio
it was more complicated than that and honestly, a valid thing to say
I'm so happy you have found Carbot now, he has so many hours of great animations XD. A lot are gaming injokes sadly - but they're so great :).
The Attack you never use on your ice mephits is their best attack. You want to target an enemy, not an area, it often does low teens for damage, but it also has a chance to knock the target Prone and it puts down an ice patch that people can slip on.
Hi Hannah! I haven’t watched any of your vids in awhile… but it’s good to see one pop up about a game I’m into! Glad your doing good!
I just gotta say youre slaying so hard in this one lol. The outfit, the hair, the whole look is fire.
Oh! Thank you!
Maam I’ve been WAITING for you to watch these
That animated video was on point. Absolutely nailed the process of the opening to the game.
I own FSR too many Baldur’s Gate big boxes. My collectors edition for 3 finally arrived. Excited to get into it.
(I wonder if there's a Ken doll option...)
it's a dating simulator that someone added hundreds of hours of gameplay and quest by mistake
LOL
Carbot Animation is awesome! If you know the games and played them his videos are hilarious!
I am so happy about how 40k has seeped its way into the content and lingo. XD
the carbot animations are always great, short little funny skits. the elden ring ones they do are also awesome.
Your description of ceremorphosis at the beginning there was very accurate
best part of BG3 is that you CANT play it wrong way. Not because it will force you, but because ammount of freedom and options is on some CRAZY level. So, naturally, its really good for someone who never played before (not only in that kind of rpg but games at all)
I'm terrified of huge, insane UIs and BG3 was so good I learned it just to play more BG3.
Great game. Took me 118 hours to finish my first play through and I missed several things. This is the closest any developer has come to replicating the tabletop in a video game.
You're so adorable and funny ! 😂💜 Thank you ☺🤗
You'd be perfect for a tabletop role-playing game.
All I can hear is the quote from season three of "Hannibal", to Hannibal and Bedelia: "Is it *that* kind of party??" Heh.
Yes, this is an advanced game with lots of options and stuff, but one thing it is _not_ is stressful in the same way as God of War. Combat is turn based, so it works like a board game, you have ample time to check through and select what action you want to take, which is what the Carbot animation was joking with.
Nice sound effects with the transformation sequence 😄
Lol thank you!
Baldur's Gate 3 has both Matt Mercer and J.K. Simmons in major roles.
You should 10000% play this game. Super awesome story driven RPG, probably the best to come out in the last 10-15 years.
TWO TIMES?? this was adorable
The other gaming related Internet Historian video worth watching is "The Fall of 76". Very similar to The Engoodening of No Man's Sky in a good way.
the transition at the start was *Chef kiss*
I could TOTALLY see you playing BG3!
in baldurs gate 2 you can even have a baby with your elf cleric, and he appears as an item that occupies your inventory slot, along with your familiar if you also have one...
that game pretty much introduced the idea of romanceble party members to western video game spaces
Carbot is something you should watch more!
4 Halfling Barbarians video is a must see if you want to see some top tier BG3 content.
What you're describing in the beginning is a process known as ceremorphosis, and let me assure you: it is to be avoided!
More Baldur’s Gate please, especially the Girlfriend Review video.
I love your content Hannah. Thank for brightening up the day
HannaH's Slaanesh reference is the best thing i've seen today, and it's 6:30 and i'm watching it with my breakfast! Honestly, amazing how you've been indoctrinated into gamer culture. ^^
5:20 I know I'm late but I think the movie you're thinking of is "Daybreakers" with Ethan Hawke and Sam Neil. Great film, underrated.
Yes
It's quite literally one of if not the best game of all time
Important context: The bear is a druid who can shape-shift into animals.
It still might be a bit much for some, but at least it is consensual.
Exactly THAT kind of party. With a bear.
Just for some extra Baldur's Gate fun you should watch "4 Halfling Barbarians"
definitely try the game out for stream, you will love the writing and story with all the good voice acting!
Also no worries about reaction time or anything because you can strait up put the game on story mode for easy difficulty, combat is turn based meaning you knee jerk reactions you can take your time on your turns to figure stuff out or read spells, ect
The romance is also completely optional like you can strait up avoid it and just be good friends with your companions who each have their own fun stories to experience with character growth that causes even the ones to annoy you to be interesting.
Game also has a good amount of different endings, also the dude with the grey beard and long hair you saw is voiced by omniman/J. Jonah Jameson peter parkers boss lol he wants both pictures of spiderman and world domination XD
Second video and subscribed already 😂… schoom schoom got me 😂
Honestly couldn't have explained the baldur's gate 3 teaser trailer better than that hahaha.
Thank you! 😂😂
Discovering this youtube channel was among my best decisions in life 😂💥💯
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
The best dating sim of the year 😂❤
ye there were some bugs (quite a few) at launch but its because game if fcking massive (i done single playtrough in 100h and i feel like i missed out on A LOT) so im doing second run and 20h in game already feels SO different...this is one of the best games in years
also they fixing A LOT of things no stop..it shows how much they ACTUALLY care for the game
5:23 pretty sure the movie your talking about is Daybreakers real neat movie.
Hey, glad you stumbled across Carbot! They've got some really fun animations, definitely recommend checking our their other stuff!
What kind of party? The gather and venture forth kind.
Quick explanation of turne based game systems:
Imagine a card game like poker or what ever you want.
On release a comma was misplaced and your party members almost instantly fell in love with you even if you didn't pick the flirty responses
😂😂😂😂
@@HannaHsOverInvested They're not kidding - Gale, the wizard you can have in your party, basically decided he had the hots for my character when all I did was make sure he didn't die in a giant magical explosion that would kill us all. That bug just made him be like, "your strong desire to not die horribly is making me VERY aroused."
It also didn't help that some of the dialogue options that were considered to be flirting could also be easily read as just trying to be friendly, which is sadly an experience you are probably all too familiar with as a woman since many guys in the real world will think of any friendly interaction with a woman as being flirting...
Fun fact: Yes, not only is sexy times a thing, there was a bug at launch. All the companions were something like 10x thirstier than they were meant to be. Everyone was down after 1 or 2 conversations. The community has asked Larian to not fix this. This is fine.
