I noticed everyone saying the interviewer wasn't good but I thought she worked well with the young lady to make her feel comfortable, which is important because we saw what happens when she gets tensed or uncomfortable. God bless this young lady either way, she did go threw a lot to be so young.

The interviewer is really disconnected from reality and she's in need of therapy herself. She's acting like the girl just got back from an Alaskan Adventure. She went through a significant trauma that is going to affect her for the rest of her life. The sad thing about it is that with most victims of traumatic trauma especially ongoing it often takes years before they realize the effects that it has upon them. It's like the layers of an onion being peeled away slowly and meticulously. Ask me how I know. This young lady is going to need years of therapy to even get some semblance of healing once it begins to really set in on her what took place. Just her going on iyanla was just a small peek into what happened but even from then she still hasn't really gotten it. That was kind of just to turn the lights on. But ongoing therapy as another person commented is absolutely needed. This is one of the saddest things I've ever seen in modern day. Additionally, This entire interview was tragic and it should have never happened. Some people don't need to have these types of jobs this is a complete disgrace.

I understand why the interviewer took this approach....it's a sensitive, traumatic situation so she didn't want to make it too depressing for the girl...but I don't agree with how it was handled....the situation is NOT at all funny....you can be compassionate and gentle but none of what happened is a joke by any means.

How do you have a relationship with your biological father but not your mother but the problem with you not having their relationship with your mother is because you’re not communicating to her how you want to address the situation and instead you’re letting her just go about things in her own way instead of telling her what you would like. She won’t know how to deal with you if you don’t tell her. Communication is key in this situation like a lotttttt. Because of the type of separation this was.
I do understand the loyalty to the mother she has always known as mom, it is a hard thing for her mother to bear. Give her time, space, love and allow her to grow into the person she will be. When she is older she will understand the pain her mother had to bear and is still suffering with and maybe she can find a space of grace and will be able to share this wonderful young lady. I don't think she's angry. I think this interview focused more on the positivity and accepting the fact that she wants to be connected to the mother who raised her. Iyanla got the business because she forced the point of you need to choose one identity over another and one family over another. A forced choice would make the adults comfortable and safe but would rip her whole life and identity apart. If everyone truly has her best interest at heart they should just let her be and settle into accepting herself and the people she's connected to. That's the best way to facilitate healing and I think we see that in this interview.

That's enough to cause the most adult person to fall apart. The best way to deal with it is to allow her to come to grips with it in her own time and decide who she wants to be. It should be up to Alexis Kamiyah to decide. She can choose to be both because she is both. To choose Kamiyah would be to erase who she had grown up identifying herself as and leaving no foundation to fall back on. I think she is on the right tract in merging both sides of herself into one, her past life and her future life.

Yes her pain is so deep and she is so afraid but I will say there are levels to healing just as there are levels to dealing with death you have anger, denial, bargaining, depression and acceptance and K has to go thorough an actual spiritual death and she has to get through all these stages and no one knows how long she will need in each stage. So we definitely need a lot of love and patience with some guidance. She won't be able to do it alone. #TooPainful

It was Iyanla's JOB to offer healing which, by the way, was REQUESTED by this Kamiyalexis and her biological family. This woman is a superficial journalist just covering a personal interest story. It's what Oprah used to do on local news BEFORE she went into the substantive stuff of her show. Huge difference in intent and, therefore, outcomes.

It saddens me that the biological mother is going through so much pain. I wish Kamiyah and the biological father could understand that mom's role was replaced for 18 years, not dad's and it's heartbreaking to see Kamiyah praise Gloria over her biological mom. That's why the relationship is so rocky. They ALL need individual counseling because so many emotions are hidden that needs to come out. It's my hope that the biological parents can one day be thankful that Gloria did a good job raising Kamiyah and not make her feel bad for still wanting to keep that relationship.

I had many traumas during my childhood and no one ever knew what was going on with me. I spent all of my childhood acting just like her. I was cheerful and positive and fun to be around. I was swallowing every real emotion I had in response to the trauma and living with my violators daily. No one ever knew that I was going through anything. But if, for my benefit, someone wanted me to get in touch with my true feelings and wouldn't let me get away with pretending I was fine all that came out of her would have come out of me. Of course she is angry, hurt, confused, broken but that's not who she is it's what she has to do to keep from loosing her mind. She can't do it alone and her birth family is doing her a disservice by pretending everything is ok. She's in deep trauma and needs lots of professional help and a family that are willing to do their hard work and support her through her hard work. You're going to lose her. Emotionally or even physically.
@@standdown4929 Her "counselor" deliberately pushed her buttons telling her her bf and father were given an "assignment" not to take her calls and she was supposed to stay overnight in the "womb." She needed one of them to drive her home and she had a major hissy fit because she didn't want to stay the night. I doubt she suffers. from deep trauma because during her formative years she had a loving mother and father and only at age 18 did she learn she was kidnapped by her non-biological mother. She did suffer some trauma after learning her parents were not her biological parents, but not anything that will stop her from succeeding in life.

In 2019, Gloria Williams appealed to have her sentence reduced, according to First Coast News. She self-filed the appeal and called the 18 years "cruel and unusual punishment" that was "disproportionate" to the crime she committed. Her appeal was denied. The nerve of this wicked woman.

Sad situation. It sounds like she has a lot of loyalty toward her kidnapper/captor. I get it, to her it's the only mother figure she knew but at what point do you look at this person and understand what really happened and what devastating effects those actions took on both sides. Maybe it's easier to deal with for her but I'm sure it creates pain for her real family. There will be a day when she will reflect on what happened, but that's not today.

It is very hard for people to understand who Alexis is. She is smart, beautiful, and strong. She did not go through any physical or emotional trauma at birth, because she was kidnapped when she was only 8 hours old. And the woman who kidnapped her loved her. She did not form a bond with her biological mom. It is sad, but Gloria is her mom. Gloria gave her, her first bath, her first kiss, her constant embrace, and love. A child's formative years are from 0 -14. Gloria formed her. Gloria is her mom. This is very sad, but it is like a person adopting a newborn. She has no attachment to the person who gave birth to her. She is totally attached to the person who raised her from birth. It is normal. What Gloria did was totally despicable but we cannot force her to hate her mom. Her mom is Gloria. We cannot cut Gloria out of Alexis' life, that will damage Alexis more. Alexis is behaving perfectly normally. She is aware that Gloria committed a crime, but she cannot reject Gloria because Gloria is her mom. I sympathize with her biological mom, and what she went through was horrific, but the truth of the situation is that this is really complex and involves humans emotions which is not easily explained. Gloria nurtured Alexis from birth to adulthood and is the only mother that Alexis knew. It is a sad situation, but Alexis is incapable of hating Gloria and will always protect her. Alexis knows who she is. She is the daughter of the woman who raised her from birth to adulthood and it will go against her nature to hate Gloria, her mother. The girl is behaving normally. The hands that rock the cradle rules the world. Gloria's hands, changed Alexis's diapers, fed her, rocked her, bathed her, love her. Alexis is Gloria's daughter. Please give the girl a break, she is no ticking time bomb, she is a normal, loving young girl who is caught up in a situation, where humans are forcing her to bite the hands that fed her and loved her and she can't. God will help her to accept her biological mom but she will never reject Gloria, the kidnapper because that is the woman who nurtured her past and has prepared her for the future. Her bio mother has a bad attitude and that's probably where she gets her attitude from... On Iyana she said her bio mom curses at her and hangs up in her face and refused to get counseling with the rest of the family

The interviewer is really disconnected from reality and she's in need of therapy herself. She's acting like the girl just got back from an Alaskan Adventure. She went through a significant trauma that is going to affect her for the rest of her life. The sad thing about it is that with most victims of traumatic trauma especially ongoing it often takes years before they realize the effects that it has upon them. It's like the layers of an onion being peeled away slowly and meticulously. Ask me how I know. This young lady is going to need years of therapy to even get some semblance of healing once it begins to really set in on her what took place. Just her going on iyanla was just a small peek into what happened but even from then she still hasn't really gotten it. That was kind of just to turn the lights on. But ongoing therapy as another person commented is absolutely needed. This is one of the saddest things I've ever seen in modern day. Additionally, This entire interview was tragic and it should have never happened. Some people don't need to have these types of jobs this is a complete disgrace.

I don't think she's angry. I think this interview focused more on the positivity and accepting the fact that she wants to be connected to the mother who raised her. Iyanla got the business because she forced the point of you need to choose one identity over another and one family over another. A forced choice would make the adults comfortable and safe but would rip her whole life and identity apart. If everyone truly has her best interest at heart they should just let her be and settle into accepting herself and the people she's connected to. That's the best way to facilitate healing and I think we see that in this interview.

It saddens me that the biological mother is going through so much pain. I wish Kamiyah and the biological father could understand that mom's role was replaced for 18 years, not dad's and it's heartbreaking to see Kamiyah praise Gloria over her biological mom. I had many traumas during my childhood and no one ever knew what was going on with me. I spent all of my childhood acting just like her. I was cheerful and positive and fun to be around. I was swallowing every real emotion I had in response to the trauma and living with my violators daily. No one ever knew that I was going through anything. But if, for my benefit, someone wanted me to get in touch with my true feelings and wouldn't let me get away with pretending I was fine all that came out of her would have come out of me. Of course she is angry, hurt, confused, broken but that's not who she is it's what she has to do to keep from loosing her mind. She can't do it alone and her birth family is doing her a disservice by pretending everything is ok. She's in deep trauma and needs lots of professional help and a family that are willing to do their hard work and support her through her hard work. You're going to lose her. Emotionally or even physically.
Her counselor walked away after her brutal outburst. There is a whole other side to her and it isn't pretty.

She needed one of them to drive her home and she had a major hissy fit because she didn't want to stay the night. I doubt she suffers. from deep trauma because during her formative years she had a loving mother and father and only at age 18 did she learn she was kidnapped by her non-biological mother. She did suffer some trauma after learning her parents were not her biological parents, but not anything that will stop her from succeeding in life.

A time will come when this young lady has a child of her own and realizes what her kidnaper did and that will be the day she doesn’t call her mom. She may have been well cared for by the kidnapper but that doesn’t change the fact she stole so many years from her. I’m glad she got as many years as she did in prison. She deserved more. She took advantage of a 16yr old teenager and forever changed her life. Kamiya has a bright future ahead of her but before she succeeds she’s gonna have to confront her kidnapper and get angry with her. She’s gonna have to to move forward and truly have healing.

Weirdest interview I've seen. The interviewer asked a question, she declined to answer. The interviewer asked again, she answered? She's not listening, just talking. She is eating her way through, SMH. She'll look up and weigh 250 if she's not careful
It's just terribly sad that even after all that Kamiyahs birth mom has been through, Kamiyah still leans more toward the kidnapper. I know that this woman was all she knew for 18 years, but she is just very selfish. I think she is going to need extensive counseling because she really acts like nothing is wrong. When I saw her curse Iyanla out_I knew the nice, smiling girl wasn't as sweet as she wants people to think. Sad story
The fact that she through the hospital for her documents instead of simply calling her birth mother shows you how completely Gloria broke that unbreakable bond between bio mother & child.

she needs to understand the pain her real mother went through you can't take that pain away not having your child or just thinking about if ya child is alive or not..father's handle pain different then a mother but a woman who had to carry'd a child for 9 months it's not easy to just let what happened go. even if the women who took her and now in jail, it's like she still won because she still consider that woman as mom..so real mother is like well then let her have her I'm not going to have no communication with her because now it's like even tho she birth her she don't no anything about her.. this is sad.

Sad situation. It sounds like she has a lot of loyalty toward her kidnapper/captor. I get it, to her it's the only mother figure she knew but at what point do you look at this person and understand what really happened and what devastating effects those actions took on both sides. Maybe it's easier to deal with for her but I'm sure it creates pain for her real family. There will be a day when she will reflect on what happened, but that's not today.

Yes..this girl need therapy there is no way a 18 yr old can process all this I'm much older and don't think I could...i just pray when reality sat in she will have someone there for her ...she has a long way to go and gonna need a lot of support but,with God all things are possible💝

The interviewer scared of the lil girl
It is very hard for people to understand who Alexis is. She is smart, beautiful, and strong. She did not go through any physical or emotional trauma at birth, because she was kidnapped when she was only 8 hours old. And the woman who kidnapped her loved her. She did not form a bond with her biological mom. It is sad, but Gloria is her mom. Gloria gave her, her first bath, her first kiss, her constant embrace, and love. A child's formative years are from 0 -14. Gloria formed her. Gloria is her mom. This is very sad, but it is like a person adopting a newborn. She has no attachment to the person who gave birth to her. She is totally attached to the person who raised her from birth. It is normal. What Gloria did was totally despicable but we cannot force her to hate her mom. Her mom is Gloria. We cannot cut Gloria out of Alexis' life, that will damage Alexis more. Alexis is behaving perfectly normally. She is aware that Gloria committed a crime, but she cannot reject Gloria because Gloria is her mom. I sympathize with her biological mom, and what she went through was horrific, but the truth of the situation is that this is really complex and involves humans emotions which is not easily explained. Gloria nurtured Alexis from birth to adulthood and is the only mother that Alexis knew. It is a sad situation, but Alexis is incapable of hating Gloria and will always protect her. Alexis knows who she is. She is the daughter of the woman who raised her from birth to adulthood and it will go against her nature to hate Gloria, her mother. The girl is behaving normally. The hands that rock the cradle rules the world. Gloria's hands, changed Alexis's diapers, fed her, rocked her, bathed her, love her. Alexis is Gloria's daughter. Please give the girl a break, she is no ticking time bomb, she is a normal, loving young girl who is caught up in a situation, where humans are forcing her to bite the hands that fed her and loved her and she can't. God will help her to accept her biological mom but she will never reject Gloria, the kidnapper because that is the woman who nurtured her past and has prepared her for the future. Let us all pray that the girl will be fine. And Alexis, if you ever become a lawyer, I will be cheering you on. God bless you, Alexis.

She needs to give an apology to Iyanla. She also needs to see her daddy for what he really is. He sees her as a way to better his life financially. I'm sure he's not presenting it that way. Oh and meshing, she acts like them.
The entire interview was very forced and awkward. I was uncomfortable just watching it... Praying for this beautiful young woman and everyone involved.
