Let's say you came into some extra funds and and bought a luxury watch of say 10k, how much could you sell it for in two years if you needed the cash? Do watches usually go up in value or lose worth over time?
If this is one of your fears/reasons for buying a luxury watch, you might want to reconsider and put your money into stocks or another solid investment instead. With the right F.A or by choosing the right investments, you could potentially be able to afford the 2026 version of the watch without the worry of going broke in the near future. I say this from experience, having been in your shoes before. Goodluck!
nice... this makes a lot of sense... been considering going into this stock thing for sometime now. heard its a nice way to make money bts... how can I get a nice f.a? and how expensive are they?...
Well, you should start by looking out for those from credible firms and good track records. Also, make sure the person is licensed. Personally, I use Michael, Allen Eckrich. He's good and you could also look him up too. And they're usually way cheaper than you would expect .
Will you please stop putting Rolex on lists of "watches you can buy". If you can't walk into an AD and buy a watch it should never be on a list of "watches you can buy".

Couldn't agree more. I was looking at a couple different models that were all out of stock on the site and the chat were happy and willing to order whatever model I wanted in an instant. Really top notch service from the team!
I bought a Grand Seiko Skyflake as my first luxury watch from Tokyo as the prices are great with the Japanese yen being so low and foreigners being able to buy the watches tax free. I have been very happy with the purchase.
I was just in Tokyo and that was one of the watches I was looking at. I ended up leaving with a Speedmaster and a Seamaster Pro. I saved a couple thousand dollars and no tax. It was not cheap, but still discounted.
but you had to pay tax when entering your country, right? ;-P about which price are we talking? I want to visit Japan anyway, so this could be a perfect combination. I want a swiss made watch, but only because..., what I really want is a Spring Drive, because that is the peak of everything.
Literally did the same, leaving Tokyo today but was able to get a SBGA465 for about £1.4k less than I would have in London, tax savings included but the general price is also a lot better.

When it comes to making recommendations to people looking to get into this world, I don't actually recommend a specific watch or brand. Rather, I recommend they set themselves a budget of $500.00 or less and get themselves a nice dress watch from Tissot, Citizen, Seiko, Orient, and so forth. To my surprise lo and behold they did and I picked up the watch straight away. I’m very happy with how the watch looks in person.

For those that find difficult to justify a watch for more than 3-4k usd, I would definitely go for the Longines Conquest 38 mm, if the budget can stretch more then Aquaterra 100%
I'll second that. The new Conquest is exceptional. The bracelet is levels above others in the price range. You have to see and wear it in person. It feels waaay above the price range. Same could probably be said for the other Longines line-up.
@@silvestrocrino3256I bought a HydroConquest last year and there are several more that have caught my eye, like the Zulu Time and the one with the Moonphase and Chronometer (master collection?)

got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on AMZWATCH 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
Many great watches Teddy. My choice if I only had to have one, would definitely be the Omega Seamaster 300M. Thank God, having only one, it’s not an option.
I bought myself a Breitling Classic Avi P-51 a little while ago. I think its also a great option if you like a chronograph and they are a little bit less expensive. I also think the Navitimer dial has a lot going on, so if you don't like all the lines on the dial to calculate fuel burn and such, the Classic Avi watches don't have all that.
Hey Teddy, lone you channel. A bit off topic but, I have a question about watch cases and bands for ladies. I am getting into watch Modding and want to build my daughters and wife watches for Christmas. My wife is Japanese and my kids are mixed Caucasian/Japanese. Would you suggest a two tone gold and silver case/bracelet or a silver bracelet? And would the dial face influence your decision? Red/Pale Pink/Silver?
Currently saving up for my first 'luxury watch'. Debating between the omega speedmaster white vs black. White is so clean but can get the black for like 2k cheaper.
@@tylergarrett8066 It is a big watch but fits me perfectly. The movement is amazing. Secondhand is mesmerizing. Plus 80 hours of power reserve. BTW I’m someone who likes the reserve meter on the dial.
My first ever watch purchase was an omega seamaster pro green dial. I knew nothing and was not a watch enthusiast by any means but I knew omega had a connection to James Bond and when I walked in the store the green one caught my eye. Ever since I bought that watch I began watching your videos and learning so much more about watches and really finding brands I love. My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from AMZWATCH

Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from MAMACOO I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
I haven't seen the full video yet, but I know what my first over $5k luxury watch will be. Omega Globemaster is favorite watch by far. I just can't decide if I'm going full steel or Sedna Gold.
Really like this video concept. Most enjoyable. Love the Omega Aquaterra & would like to give a shout out to the Tag Heuer Aquaracer. It’s a bit unloved by critics, but I think it’s a really nice watch for the money.
I bought a watch from AMZWATCH lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.
I always recommend Omega Seamaster 300 (Heritage). Black dial. I travel with mine on a FKM black tropical. But I carry a black fine lizard skin with Omega deployment clasp for dress. It works for me. Great video. Every year I get this question 5 to 10 times at Christmas and graduation time. I’ll send them to this video.

Hi Teddy. Really enjoy your videos and advice. I am a late collector in the game. I already have my first luxury watch and its a Rolex 41 Wimbledon smooth bezel, oyster bracelet. Looking to get my second and probably last luxury watch. Should I stick with Rolex? What model if so or should I go with a different brand? Looking to spend 8K to 15K?
Pleasantly surprised to see the Zulu Time on this list! I picked up my first auto after a LOOOOONG hiatus of mechanical watches (talking early 2000s here) and it was the titanium version of the Zulu. LOVE it and it keeps VERY precise time. I synced it with my phone time and it has been almost dead on for a week of wearing it. highly recommended!
I don't know about that. I've been trying to get a Datejust 41 for over a year now. I check in monthly with two different ADs but they keep saying they have not gotten it and are looking out for it for me. Perhaps it worked out for you but there's still many that are having no luck getting one.
Careful my dude. A lot of guys in the comments who let their AD have a night with their wife/girlfriend for the privilege of buying a piece of wrist jewelry are going to be VERY upset at you for saying something less-than-positive about the brand name they’ve chosen to base their personality around.
Used your chat feature today. As a flight attendant going thru security I became aware recently of watches that can become demagnetized when you go thru security. So obviously I don't want to spend a good chunk of money on a watch for work for it to be demagnetized. The person I chatted with was fantastic and recommended Omega which confirmed what I have researched. Right now I have my eye balls on a Speedster 38. As of now its under "one day" as in one day I will own one.

Of course I went to an AD and compared it to some other watches, but your content definitely put GS, and the Shunbun in particular, on my radar.

Investing with an expert is the best strategy for beginners and busy investors, as most failures and losses in investment usually happen when you invest without proper guidance. I'm speaking from experience.
I feel like brands haven’t been making manual wind only watches as much. Which is a shame, I’d rather have a thinner watch than have automatic winding.
Because most mechanical watches are automatic ones, I guess. Personally I like both handwound and automatic ones. (wearing a handwound watch as I speak.) But it seems most people want automatic.
watches, as much as people do not want to admit it are not popular. The common man or woman isn't going to buy a watch above 200€ or $200. So if a person decides to spend OVER 1000€ on a watch (entering the luxury territory). You first of all, know about the brand, and second of all like watches enough to buy an expensive watch. As for wanting to collect more, well. I for example wasn't a watch enthusiast, I'm still of a novice. However, after doing some homework, as I wanted to buy my very first watch as a present for my Masters degree, I landed on a Seiko (presage cocktail time to be exact). I liked their philosophy as well as overall price range. And after a few months after my puechase, I really want to get another watch, and Im not a watch guy. Breitling Superocean Heritage deserves a spot on this list or at least an honorable mention.
This Breitling is super versatile and looks great in formal settings as well. Such a lovely watch.
Agreed !
@@PaperGrape agree
@@PaperGrape…had no intention to do it but somehow have 5 Longines in my collection in the last 2 years…pound for pound best value in Swiss watches.
@@silvestrocrino3256I bought a HydroConquest last year and there are several more that have caught my eye, like the Zulu Time and the one with the Moonphase and Chronometer (master collection?)
@silvestrocrino3256 when you see them in person, they completely exceed expectations for their price and beyond
My first luxury watch was a TIssot Gentleman on a brown leather strap. Swiss craftmanship, yet still relatively affordable. And it's suitable for both casual days and more formal gatherings. I wear it everywhere. Highly recommended!
Oris Aquis
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on AMZWATCH 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
Some time ago, the Reverso would have had a place in that list, but not anymore after JLC upped the prices so much.
I had a few JLCs picked out for a retirement watch and with the price increases, I moved on.
Looks like you forgot to put pricing/spec summary for the Aqua Terra & Longines. Curious how they stack up!
its a good day when Teddy uploads a video!
The fact that Omega charges another $1000 for basically just the sapphire is wild to me.
It’s also open case back on the sapphire one, but yes €1000 for this is overpriced.
My first thought also
You're paying for the applied omega logo on the dial 😂😂😂
Jk
The finishing is different though /s
The markers are applied on the while dial as well, right? Whereas only printed on the black dial.
I did enjoy this updated list. Glad to see Longines on it. Thnx
Just bought a grand Seiko snowflake today. Absolutely loving it. It feels weird though because it’s so light it’s like there’s nothing on my wrist.
Currently saving up for my first 'luxury watch'. Debating between the omega speedmaster white vs black. White is so clean but can get the black for like 2k cheaper.
I just picked up an sbga211 about a month ago. That spring drive movement is really something to see in person
Agreed. I purchased the SLGA023 and can’t believe it. Spring drive is a must for a collection.
@briankenny6883 Cool dial but I couldn't wear a watch that big on my wrist. How's the 9RA5?
@@tylergarrett8066 It is a big watch but fits me perfectly. The movement is amazing. Secondhand is mesmerizing. Plus 80 hours of power reserve. BTW I’m someone who likes the reserve meter on the dial.
8:47 "Wabi Sabi" is what you are looking for and the dial really is perfect through its imperfection.
The correct term is actually 'bukkake"
The dial looks awful
Teddy, what is your opinion of Bremont watches?
My first ever watch purchase was an omega seamaster pro green dial. I knew nothing and was not a watch enthusiast by any means but I knew omega had a connection to James Bond and when I walked in the store the green one caught my eye. Ever since I bought that watch I began watching your videos and learning so much more about watches and really finding brands I love. My appreciation for other brands has really grown but Omega will always have a special place in my collection as the brand that got me to appreciate a nice watch!
Green SMP is still one of my considerations for my first luxury piece! I love the colour out of all the Seamasters 🔥
They paid for that connection though. Product placement clearly works
@@thegraciefighter102 It sure does. I’m a big movie guy and the placement in casino royale is in my opinion one of the best product placements because it worked so well and felt like natural dialogue on the train with vesper. Without that scene maybe I would have bought a Rolex as my first because that’s the only other brand name I knew at the time.
@@rey2103 I wear it a ton and still love it! If you like it I don’t think you’ll regret it. It’s one I’ll keep forever because it was my first but also because I genuinely love seeing it on my wrist.
@@eric.wilson I’m not a fan of product placement but that scene is fantastic for sure
My first was an Oris Aquis Relief. Never thought I’d ever rock a red rubber strap, but it looks amazing on the wrist. And so comfortable! I ended up getting a custom leather strap made for it so it can go with anything I wear. 👍🏼
My choice for my first luxury watch was the Longines Hydroconquest GMT
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from AMZWATCH
I dont understand the facination with the Rolex Explorer. It looks like an Aliexpress watch.
Or a premium Hamilton Fieldwatch.
Yeah the bezel is messed up
@@brandoGTR48 there are in the market more beautiful watches than any Rolex
That's because those watches are emulating the Explorer.
Agree… if you are buying a Rolex go with submariner or Daytona only
My first was a Tudor Panda,2022 version full stickers, full box/set for 4k$. Put it on an Everest rubber strap & its watch nervana! Since then picked up an Omega silver snoopy, next stop Date Just, flutted bezel on jubilee..
This is a fantastic video for somebody looking for their first “luxury” watch. At the end of the day you cannot go wrong with any of the watches listed in this video. Being an individual also looking to purchase their first one, the video pretty much listed every watch on my list so far!
do you think any of these watches can be seen as a investment ? What I mean by investment is just to keep it's value over years, not profit
@@oliviajohnson9062 the Rolexes should mostly keep their value over the years, the rest not so much
I manage to get a 41mm Datejust after visiting 12 AD on my travels through China. Just got allocation for the white dial Speedy at my local AD happy as. Watch collection is not just the watch to enjoy but the journey to obtain it. Many more to come 😊
Omega Seamaster Professional for the win!
Can't go wrong with the sandwich 300m's.
Teddy - your timing on this video is perfect because I'm in this exact spot right now. Only problem is I'm not any closer to deciding which watch I want! Need some help please! Spring drive GS / blue or white seamaster / black speedmaster professional hesalite / blue&white Breitling chrono???
An absolutely stunning video. Well thought out. Amazing points of reference. An amazing video indeed.
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from MAMACOO I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
The jeager lecoultre reverso
I haven't seen the full video yet, but I know what my first over $5k luxury watch will be. Omega Globemaster is favorite watch by far. I just can't decide if I'm going full steel or Sedna Gold.
The ultimate luxury is the Timex easy reader. Good enough for Bill Murray good enough for me.
It's not like that's all he has thought. He has Rolex and Patek aswell

The Santos will be our first luxury watch purchase. We own several Tissot and an Omega Seamaster. A matching set of Santos is next.
IMHO, the longines spirit (not the GMT) is the entry point of luxury. Same case quality as the IWC mark series.
Where is the Citizen Sky watches?, ANY of them???
iwc XX all the way
Really like this video concept. Most enjoyable.
Love the Omega Aquaterra & would like to give a shout out to the Tag Heuer Aquaracer. It’s a bit unloved by critics, but I think it’s a really nice watch for the money.
Spot on Teddy. Totally agree. Maybe the new longines Conquest could also have been an option?
I bought a watch from AMZWATCH lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.
5:03 to skip the Rolex section

Thanks.
Big thanks!
I'm interested what your recommendations would be for a sub 5k luxury watch
I went with the tank, dressier.
GS needs to drop the power reserve on the front already. Or balance it with some other feature on the dial.
I would definitely include any of the Tag Heuer Glassbox watches.
TAG Heuer is doing great things 👌 and their finishing is fantastic
I always recommend Omega Seamaster 300 (Heritage). Black dial. I travel with mine on a FKM black tropical. But I carry a black fine lizard skin with Omega deployment clasp for dress. It works for me.
Great video. Every year I get this question 5 to 10 times at Christmas and graduation time. I’ll send them to this video.
Longines absolutely needed to be on that list! For Tudor, I think the Ranger or the 1926 could be valid choices.
I think Tag Heuer should have a name here like the Aquaracer or the Monaco to be fair
Then again he is not AD for Tag. Guess that’s why.
@@LouisMorales-zx3jm The Carrera

Did you not get the memo you’re not allowed like Tags 😂
I recently bought a Tudor Black Bay 39 with a blue dial and jubilee bracelet. Love!
Tudor don't sell a 39 with jubilee
Small wrist here. What about oyster perpetual 34mm silver dial? Some thoughts?
I have a 6.25" wrist and think Rolex's 36mm options are just right!

haha it was all I wore for 19 years, no complaints
Bring back the sword hands, Omega! Then only thing stopping me from getting the SMP. Can’t stand the skeleton hands.
Amen.
Why included Rolex when, thanks to Rolex and their ADs, they’re never available?
I got a sub last week at mine. How about trying for yourself instead of copying and pasting the same rhetoric you hear others spouting.
Oh give it a rest with this already. Soo many complaints about this from people who don't even want a Rolex. Jump off the bandwagon already
For people with Stockholm syndrome.
Don't know how to get the shown price for this watch at 4:47. I wish I could.
Consider Baume & Mercier Baumatic watches!
Love that Longines made this list. I'd also recommend their new Hydroconquest GMT. Such a beautiful piece.
I love the Speedmasters. Whats your opinion on the reduced models?

Nice list. Would like to see a video on what makes a watch collectible. Still trying to figure that one out.
Last time I was this early for an upload, UA-cam ads were merely pop up ads at the bottom of the screen!😂
I'm genuinely curious how much influence you had over the popularity of the SBGA413. It was my first luxury watch, and personally I can say that your video on it and the SD movement in general pointed me in that direction. Of course I went to an AD and compared it to some other watches, but your content definitely put GS, and the Shunbun in particular, on my radar.
I told myself that Ill never buy my first Rolex. I told my wife that its gonna be up to her to choose and gift to me. No matter how long it takes, no matter the price, no matter if never. That Rolex needs to be very special.
May I ask why you don’t want to buy a Rolex yourself?😧

Why most watch in this list is automatic?
I feel like brands haven’t been making manual wind only watches as much. Which is a shame, I’d rather have a thinner watch than have automatic winding.
Because most mechanical watches are automatic ones, I guess. Personally I like both handwound and automatic ones. (wearing a handwound watch as I speak.) But it seems most people want automatic.
Always a good day when your video drops!Great video as always. Can’t beat it for MAMACOO watches!
Why would buying a luxury watch also mean that you would be a collector and buy more watches to start a collection? 🤷🏻♂️
watches, as much as people do not want to admit it are not popular.
This doesn't happen to everyone, obviously, but still.
And.. if I wanted to collect watches, would it not make more sense to collect watches I can afford? 😂
I have a one watch collection lol
Quality over quantity
