The main reasons why most people pikc the corvette over the viper... 1. Price Cheapest viper is $30k more than a stingray 2. It only comes in a manual.. Most Porsches sold are PDK and 2/3rds of all corvettes sold are automatics. Most guys have to get a car that the wife can drive. 3. It's just so extreme that most people wouldn't use it as a daily driver...their is no 450hp entry level Viper. The Corvette has 460hp or the 650hp Z06. 4. It got a bad reputation because early models didn't have Traction control or ABS, driver aids. A lot of inexperienced (bad drivers) drove them off the track or crashed them. People got scared of it. 2013+ models are great/safe cars.
