the real star here is james, his imagination and creation, story line brought it too life
the story is meh, the visual art is out of this world
James Wan should be directing the next DC movies soon! He has the passion and the talent in recreating these comic stories to big screen.
Haha... He's great, but he is not a storyteller. This film was awesome in the visuals/art and fights, but the story was bare bones and pretty cliche (kinda to it's benefit though, surprisingly). I love Zack Snyder's take on DC, his deep and visual storytelling, awesome action, and realistic characters.
I honestly hope for both to continue directing DC films
@@JacobGrim zack Snyder is a much worse storyteller. Lol. His BVS couldn't even crossed billion dollars when it includes two of the most iconic superheroes of all time(oh there are 3 of them) . Whereas a film with a character called Aquaman(he was considered as a joke character) crossed billion dollars. Oh and his approach to DC films was also wrong. He tried to adapt The dark Knight Returns comics for DCEU which wrong. TDKR is an elseworld comics. He should have made Batman with his iconic no killing rule(atleast no intentional killing). Batman doesn't use guns(atleast not like he was presented in the knightmare sequence of ZSJl. In it he behaves like punisher) . To achieve respect from huge audience instead of a minor fanbase , he should have embrace the main line DC Comics for Batman and Superman.He also said he wants to make controversial films. Superman should not have to be realistic. He should not have to be an invincible like character. Just embrace the comics and make a Donner style Superman movie (ofc with great visuals). WW has no no killing rule.Yet she is not like what Snyder wanted to represent her.oh and WW 2017,it was not only Snyder but there were other writers who made the script together. Snyder had input ofc. And for flash, his casting is the worst . Ezra Miller's flash doesn't even act like Barry, runs like a coward(it doesn't matter whether his running is realistic or not but what is important is that it looks horrible). His Lex is also not the popular version of Lex we know. That's why films like BVS should have been an elseworld movie. DCEU films doesn't need to be philosophical . For that elseworld movies are there.And not all DC characters are dark. Shazam movie embraced the New 52 Shazam comics well and the movie was received well with 90% rotten tomatoes. It's a fact.

This movie deserves so much more credit. Aquaman had such amazing visuals and crazy fights.
I agree, the fights had more variety than most of the genre. I'm always amazed how a lack of creativity or prolonged agony can make a fight scene boring, they never fell into that trap here... constant change of direction of the fight, scene shift, technique and long enough but, not so long it destroys the unfolding of the story.
Having seen them in person at WB I have to say that, unlike almost all other costumes in film that look flimsy without the movie "magic", the Aquaman costumes/suits actually look impressive OFF screen in real life. Especially the Atlantean soldiers. The costume designer, Kym Barrett, had a huge impact on the look and success of this movie. Glad they included her in the behind the scenes.
The Aquaman team deserved the Oscars. The work here is pure gold and the best after AVATAR.
I agree!i wasnt that invested in the actual environment in most movies since Prometheus, dont judge, but this world building was pretty great!

I really like how when Jason puts on that epic costume, the biggest thing on his mind is how impressed his kids will be.

The aesthetic of the movie is fascinating. As much as I could drool over the costumes, the sets are amazing. I hadn’t realized how much was physically made instead of CGI.
I’m glad they showed how they did the hair underwater. Hair and water sometimes look unnatural in movies and ruin suspension of disbelief. That didn’t happen in Aquaman, which was refreshing.
I loved how both Plato and Lovecraft influenced the movie. The creatures of the Trench immediately reminded me of Deep Ones.
Big respect to James Wan,the cast and whole crew.What a movie,this is one of my favourite DC Movies out there to date.
James vision of Atlantis really brought the whole set to life. He executed it perfectly. The sets were very aesthetically pleasing.
The Aquaman submarine fight scenes was totally badass and Mamoa killed it with his own spin on it. #best #perfect

Take a moment and think about the cui bono aspect of that not so personal... the lawyers and the media made a killing, Amber and Johnny were exposed and people who spend too much time take hallucinogens or drinking to excess while associates drain the bank account and nurse ratchet sounds like part of the problem... did you follow JD's behavior? it wasn't pretty either.... they both lost, it was sad to see no one concerned about their well being... no one

After watching the underwater scene I had to find out just how they did that so here I am checking out the behind the scenes. This movie is magical and dope. Now back to the movie 💪

Believe it or not Aquaman was one of my favorite Superheroes growing up. I was not excited about this film when I first heard it, but my concerns were put to rest when I watched it. great job and one one the top 3 DC movies ever!

Saw this in my recommendation and thought, what the heck lets check this out. Was only planning on watching ten minutes or so, but ended up watching the full 56 minutes.

All of the set design to the concept EVERYTHING! was done amazingly and I love the fact they went out of their comfort zone to bring an underwater world alive. truly inspirational and excellent direction and team work, from actors and producers and crew. An amazing well done for all the effort put in it truly shows.
James Wan is a freakin' creative GENIUS! I've always been a fan of his usual work in the horror genre. Warner Bros. should tie him up to a long-term contract if they wish more success in the DC cinematic universe!

I honestly cannot even imagine the hard work and time it had gone into this movie. Like it’s just unreal how they made it come to life into a movie with every details and design!
There was so much material, i think this could have separated into a trilogy and will still have excess. Starting from conflict within the different groups, to Aquaman gathering armies, to finally the final battle with Ocean Master. Such richness in lore.
Its one of my favourite DC films. The visuals alone are amazing and breathtaking. I can't wait for the next one. I don't know how they're going to top it. It was sooo much in this film. James Wan is the big reason behind its success.

In my opinion Aquaman did a better job in world building than Black Panther.
They do a great job in world building but they didn't pull the audience heartstring because they didn't show the why. Why people need to invest in these characters, they talked about it in dialogues but they didn't show.
Also black panther world building is infused within the other marvel characters.
Unfortunately marvel has the advantage of longer pre-black panther movie's story while Aquaman doesn't because DC is trying to compete quickly with Marvel.

Aquaman is heavy on world building but it does not feel boring. It's epic and bold and fun. And so beautiful. Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson are perfect in this.
I loved this film and i will wait for Aquaman 2. They did real Hard work to get it done. Although i felt that some of the vfx should be more real life but overall grt work by them. Also loved the sound effects.
