@@Docholiday1102I was out there on the section just north of where it feeds in to Lake Whitney yesterday. I’m definitely gonna need to spend the night out there soon !!
I agree with Gatewood, definitely adding the Brazos to my list of rivers to float. Great video shots and editing as well! Looks like I'll be subscribing and diving in to your content.
Brett, I have done this trip last year with a rented canoe from Rochelle's but I want to go back soon with my own kayak when there is better flow... We only had like100 cfm at the time... brutal. We also made the mistake (as greenhorns) of only renting one boat... so the wife and I did a lot of "canoe dragging" full of gear!!! No fun; Two boats next time and therefore not so overloaded. Also, a more flat bottomed boat should ride the low water better too, making for a much nicer experience. Live and learn. I loved your music selection in the video... tell us what it is please!!! Thanks for the video. I loved it!!!
I just did the Devils River a few weeks ago and now I'm hooked on river trips. You listed the drop in and pickup location along with the shuttle service link. Which, really helps. This is a perfect trip for me to do solo on a long weekend.
Man that was an awesome trip. You Two plan a good trip at the right time. I really really like your kayak man. I am looking to purchase the same type kayak. I have the tarpon kayak because i have big very very wide extremely wide feet that are sz15 6E wide with very chubby very fat wide toe that are equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe & my foot will not fit in a sit inside kayak. It keeps getting stuck inside the kayak because if you're being so big and so wide. & having very chubby fat wide toes do not help. So I had to go with a sit-on-top kayak. I know sit inside are the best for kayak camping but it's the best i can do for kayak camping. I have to kayak Barefooted 👣 style because my foot out-grow shoes , socks , boots when i was 18 years old. Campsites that you stayed at were nice man. Me my family ( wife , 6th boys , & granddaughter ) we all love kayaking. In the video at 5:21 when your buddy has his feet sitting on top of the kayak my kids do the same thing. They called it ( cruise control ) that was cool at the end how your buddy was driving home Barefooted 👣 cuz that's how I have to drive my car because of my foot being so extremely wide. My foot touches the brake and the gas pedal at the same time & I have to look down to see where to put my foot at so I'm not hitting the wrong pedal while driving. I never thought that having a very extremely wide foot would cause so much problems for driving and kayaking. I knew it would for shoes. I was born with very extremely wide feet with big toes so I'm used to this. This was a nice kayak camping trip. Thank you for sharing it I enjoy it.
@@Docholiday1102 you are walking man I enjoyed watching the. Me and my whole entire family just did a 30-mile kayak camping trip for Father's Day weekend. My wife invited her co-worker and her family with us and we both families had a blast man. We made some good family memories & friend memories. Just curious have you ever done a 30 mile kayak trip before? We are making plans to do it again next month after the 4th of July. Hope everything is going well for you buddy.
You know, that is a good question. We mostly use the kayaks because I feel it’s a bit more versatile and easier to store and transport. When we first got into this we just decided on kayaks and been using them ever since. On certain expeditions a canoe might be better but for what we mostly do the yak gets the job done.
Awesome video. I've been wanting to plan a trip just like this for my birthday on this same section. Any idea what the water level is typically like around late October?
@Docholiday1102 This video just came across my suggested again. I ended up going at the beginning of this last summer before it really dried up. It was still pretty shallow, but damn was it worth it. Spent a week on the river and it was incredible! It was my first time kayak camping, but it definitely won't be the last.
This was excellent, Brett! Definitely need to add the Brazos to my list. Keep up the wonderful cinematography!
Thank you, GB!
This looks so freaking cool ! I live on Lake Whitney and kayak there frequently, but I'm needing something more of an adventure like this !!
@@heesanoice7637 it’s the perfect overnight adventure!

"Goodby to a River" by John Graves? About last canoe trip on Brazos before it is dammed. good.
I did! It was good and interesting to hear the history on the river!
Great video! I really enjoy watching how other people kayak camp. Especially love seeing the food!
Thanks for watching!
Nice video. My favorite stretch of river. Thanks for sharing.
So scenic! Thanks for watching!!
Nice video. We’re doing the same 2 night trip in a month. Glad to see the water is decent right now.
I’m sure it will be much better after all the rain this week! Have fun!!
You need to get the Wilderness Systems spray skirt, for them tiny class 2's...

Excellent video! Loved the opening drone shot and footage. Absolutely love kayak camping. New follower here. Well done. Crow✌️
Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed it! I had a blast making it!!

I haven’t! I’ve heard about it but need to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!
Great video, bro! Nice and relaxing- my kind of trip! 👍🛶
Thanks brother!

Wish I were on that trip with you guys
It’s the best! My slogan is always, “The more the merrier!”
What is the green bag/cooler your buddy had. That thing looked pretty handy
The big green one is an OtterBox Trooper LT Cooler!

Cool trip! I must ask though, why not use a solo canoe for a trip with gear? Seems like it might be easier? Anyway, go with what ya got.

Wonder if my old Town autopilot could draft in that water

Not sure you can check online for levels just south of PK Lake.

What was the flow in cfs when you did this? It looks like you had tons of water at the takeout compared to the times I’ve been there!
I wish I could remember
How do you find public land for camping?
It’s difficult in TX because of all the private property but along this stretch of the Brazos there’s lots of area to camp along the river.
One of my favorite spots! How many miles did you guys do a day?
Day 1: 6-7, Day 2: 9-10, Day 3: 3-4
Where did yall put in and pick up
Put-in at the dam south of PK lake and took-out at Rochelle’s Rentals.
What would you say would be best time of year to do the Brazos?
As long as water levels are high enough I’d say June-August.
Brett I would love to connect and discuss kayaks. I am in Celina
I really enjoyed your latest video. Keep them coming!
Thank you for the video!! Quick question if you remember: How far down was your first campsite?
Man I don’t remember unfortunately
