All the beef was real, but in the video Eminem’s life long friend Proof was shot and and killed which didn’t actually happen then years later he was actually shot and killed which is crazy Eminem felt like he brought that situation into reality, I might be missing more to the story but this video has a very real and sad meaning behind it now
There is a recent documentary that shows the mother of Proof saying that this video and death was an Eminem offering to devil, all the coincidences are just sad.
This was em as heartened rehab lost friends wanted to go on good note proof got shot at a club em didn't go to and caused a relapse he's lost more people than most know to still stand strong
Jay Z said: “I never even told him this, but I remember that Eminem came into the studio when we made ‘Moment of Clarity,’ which he produced, on The Black Album. So here’s Eminem. It’s 2003, I think The Eminem Show had come out, and he was, like, the biggest rapper in the world - he sold, like, 20 million records worldwide or some ridiculous number. But when he came to the studio, I remember I hugged him and I could feel that he had on a bulletproof vest. I couldn’t imagine being that successful. I mean, he’s a guy who loves rap and wanted to be successful his whole career. Then he finally gets it, and there’s this dark cloud over him. There’s this big beef between 50 Cent and Ja Rule-and between real people, too-so he has to worry about that. He has to be afraid to walk around New York freely. I was like, ‘Here it is. You’ve gotten everything you wanted, and now you’re a prisoner of your own fame.’ That’s sad to me-that you have to walk around in a bulletproof vest after you’ve sold 20 million records. So, the point being, what I’m interested in is the thing under the thing. You can think you know where he was at when he said those raps, but I saw another level of it personally, and I found it sad.”
The guy in the hospitalbed is Proof. He is representing one of D12's (eminems group) members, Bugz. Imagine Eminem watching this video after Proof death... absolutely heartbreaking😢❤
@@SteoCroazdell that was Proof two years before he was actually shot. Em has said he felt like making this video is what brought his close friend who was more like family to his death in almost the same way that was portrayed in the video.
One small detail that I didn't pick up on until years later is that Eminem speaks a syllable for every time the snare drum hits. Go back and listen again to that piece and it becomes even more impressive writing.
This song is so good. It was made kind of as an end-point to the beef between Eminem, 50cent on one side (including all their friends and pals) and Ray Benzino and Ja Rule on the other side. Ja had a beef with 50 even before he got really famous (before being signed by Dre and Eminem) so Eminem kinda inherited the beefing between them - and certainly rose to the challenge. So he made a few songs and they battled back and forth but Ja and 50 got into it so bad that there was actual violence involved (Ja Rule said (not sure if true) that he was the one who stabbed 50, and there was also something about Eminem's friend Proof getting beat up?)) and there was actual threat that it would get to the point where people would get killed for some words on a record. So on the album Encore, Eminem put up this song and the video and his friend Proof played the guy shot and killed - he was supposed to represent Bugz, a former member of D12, who was shot dead. It was only about a year later that Proof REALLY died, shot, though it was in a bar where the bartender said Proof had pulled out a gun and so he shot him. I don't think anyone has ever really found out what happened - not officially, at least. Either way - this video must truly be a pain to watch. Btw, maybe you're interested, the Magazine XXL has Eminem on its cover-story, with some insight into his drug-problems and how his mind works concerning rapping.
I remember reading somewhere that they wanted 12 rappers but ended up with six and decided to just give them a split personality , I'm not sure if the source was right or not .
The song is about a Detroit rapper, BugZ, who got shot in a beef. The guy shown on the table is Em's best friend, Proof, who got shot and killed 2 yrs after this song. Spooky.......
I cry every time I see this video. Rest In Peace, Proof. 😢 Eminem made this video, then it basically came true in the future and his best friend (Proof, who's in this video) was actually shot and killed. This was when we almost lost Eminem. He was a razor's edge away from killing himself with the drug use trying to deal with losing Proof.
The dude dying on the table was Em's best friend Proof. He got shot and died over some rap beef. That was when a lot of rap beefs were still in effect.
This song is one of my earliest memories of Em, even though I know I was listening when I was younger. In the video, the man who was in the hospital was Em’s real life friend (best friend), Proof. He was depicting another rapper, Bugz, who was shot and killed in a feud/beef. What makes this song and video so eerie is that proof suffered a very similar fate just a few years later 🥲. I can’t imagine what this song means to Em now, given the circumstance. He’s referenced Proof in a lot of later songs, especially on the recovery album (going through changes comes to mind). This song is a big shoutout to the rap game, to stop killing one another. Coincidentally Em had a similar message in sing for the moment. How’s that saying going, those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat it. Rip Proof 💜
The song is about bugz. Eminems friend proof played the role of bugz. About a year later proof was killed after that Eminem had made a comment about proof playing the part of bugz in this video was like a curse of what happened to proof I know he said it differently I can't remember the exact way he said it.
Eminem had beef with Benzino, he was co-owner of Source Magazine at the time, they called him a culture vulture and shit, 50 Cent had beef with Ja Rule and Murder Inc., Eminem, D12, 50 Cent, G-Unit, Dr. Dre, Aftermath all had a huge beef with Benzino and his Made Men, Ja Rule, Murder Inc. The reference for "Toy Soldiers" is a song by Martika that released in 1988 a song using the Nursery Rhyme lyrics, Eminem sampled the 1988 song in the Chorus of this hence the name. Eminem's song Like Toy Soldiers released in 2004, the song was basically him telling a story of winning the beef against the other groups mentioned but him wanting to end it before anyone else in his Camp died, they lost a long time friend Bugz. in the video Proof plays the part of their friend being shot and killed over rap beefs, the crazy part is two years later in 2006 Proof was shot and killed in an eerily similar way to this music video. we had new albums from Eminem in 2002, 2004, 2006, then nothing for 3 years after Proofs death, he stopped tours, for those three years and a lot of people thought he was walking away from the rap industry. After 2009 we had the albums relapse, relapse/refill, recovery, and this is the time where he got sober and starting making music again, a few years later we got MMLP2 in 2013 and he vanished again until revival in 2017, and ever since then he's been on a tear ripping the industry apart which brings us to Kamikaze, and MTBMB 1 AND 2. when I say he disappeared from the industry mean he wasn't putting out his own music, he had a lot of features in between and was still making good music but we all awaited his return and wanted more of his personal projects to drop but people said he fell off, he wasn't slim shady anymore he was just Eminem and lost his edge. but he's proved time and time again he's not the one to screw with, lyrically. (Pasted from a history lesson of rap).
what a classic, haven’t listened to this in so long. but i remember listening to it when i was younger. this era of eminem was just different. so interesting hearing the lyrics and actually knowing what he’s talking about now.
When I was 13 my best friend died over the summer. And at his funeral, this song was played several times through the wake. This song just hits my very being deeply every time. Thank you..
Saw this comment on one of the reaction videos I watched before yours. This might help as it helped me understand what happened too. I grew up hearing my brother play Em's CDs but it's just now that I came to understand all the lyrics and backstories. :) ----------- This is going to be long, but hopefully helpful. This story is partly true and partly hypothetical. It's about a big beef (feud) that was going on back in the day. It was only about 6-7 years after the deaths of Pac and Biggie that this happened, so it was all very fresh in everyone's minds. I'm the farthest thing from an expert and I don't think there really is a full accurate accounting of what happened, just due to the nature of the situation - people won't talk about it, but this is what I've managed to scrape together personally. So there were these beefs that were all going on at once, and eventually melded together. This was Em's attempt to squash (end) it. It never really did end to this day, but it's just petty pokes now, it simmered down. There were three elements 1- Suge Knight (this is the beef Dre told Em to stay out of) who is a legendary baddie and former owner of Death Row Records. He really made some huge contributions to hip hop and is a legend in his own right for good and bad things. There's a lot of history with Dre here. Suge reportedly liked to send goons after people, especially Dre and his people because of their relationship. He had a reputation for violence, stuff like dangling Vanilla Ice off of a balcony (allegedly). He's currently in prison. 2- The Source Magazine/Benzino. This was Em's beef. It's complicated as well, but basically the co-owner Benzino went on a smear campaign against Em and it got really hot. At one point he said in a song that Hailie would go missing and end up dead. I don't know of any actual violence here. 3- Murder Inc/Ja Rule. This was 50 Cent's beef and it started in the streets. One story is that Ja got robbed of his chain at gunpoint by a friend of 50's, and when Ja saw 50 with the guy the beef started. Ja was signed to Murder Inc (record label), which was rumored to have ties to the people who were rumored to have shot 50. This beef got very violent at times. When 50 signed to Shady/Aftermath (record labels) Dre and Em asked 50 not to take shots at Ja on record and 50 sort of behaved himself, but Ja decided to go on record and diss (disrespect) Em, Dre and 50. He said "Em you claim that your mother's a crackhead and Kim is a known slut, so what's Hailie gon' be when she grows up" along with various threats and insults toward them and others. From there it escalated, both on and off record. Several dozen songs were spawned from this beef - really interesting to listen to the songs, probably not so fun to live what was going on. Serious threats were being thrown around (including from Em). It involved dozens of people on both sides including 50 Cent's G-Unit and Em's group D12 and protege Obie Trice and others. Fights, 50's record manager's office was shot up at one point, and probably a lot of stuff that wasn't public and never will be. They were all running around in bullet proof vests and not just for a fashion statement. I think Em believed it had gotten close to a breaking point, and that someone was going to get killed, which is where the hypothetical comes in. He, 50, Dre - all of the big names in the light - behind them were all of the others who support them, young and upcoming rappers, fans, people willing to fight for them verbally or otherwise. That's the person in that bed. I get why people say Bugz since Em knew him and there was a tribute to him at the end of the video, but Bugz wasn't the only person Em knew who died of violence, so I don't think so. I think the lyrics make it clear that he's talking about how it's usually the people who aren't in the light, 'one of his people' who are the ones that get hurt and killed. He's saying that if he makes the choice to be the bigger man and put down the mic, take a step back, then he may be able to prevent that hypothetical from happening, because all of the people out there supporting him won't feel the need to fight for him anymore, him having made the choice to end it. Of course he unilaterally declared his side the winner at the same time. Luckily pretty much everyone agreed with him since Murder Inc/The Source had both been really pummeled by the beef and other legal and financial issues. You might want to react to some of the diss tracks someday just to see what they're like - Em's pretty legendary for the feuds he's been involved in, though I think this was by far the most serious one. Diss tracks do tend to get into the hardcore territory but there are quite a few that are just funny and disrespectful - Em tends to go the mocking route. Nail in the Coffin ua-cam.com/video/-TX6o7R8LSg/v-deo.html aimed at Benzino/The Source Magazine or Hail Mary remix Em, 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes ua-cam.com/video/5YLBTWZimuU/v-deo.html aimed at Ja Rule might be ones to check out to give you an idea of what rap beef is. They're both very disrespectful but pretty tame lyrically - there will be some cursing. ------ CTTO
The emotional Rollercoaster you visually went on before, during, and after the beat started at the beginning was so adorable. Lol I love seeing how much you appreciate Em's art. I would LOVE to see you react to Same Song and Dance! It's just pure chaos and its ALL Shady.
12:08 Something people don't notice. Those are the two kids from the start. They were representing the next generation, what the current rappers were leaving behind in the future.
I still get goose bumps every time I watch the video. Because that's proof acting in the video and it turned into a reality just a few yrs after. Bet Em can't watch this. So sad.
You know what’s some crazy parallels this came out in 2004 and it depicted his best friend and one of his rapping partners from his rap group “D12” Proof being shot and killed outside when in reality two years later in 2006 he was shot and killed outside of a club which led Eminem into his depression addiction spiral which he says was what caused him to become a major drug addict
Eminem has said he's become to hate this song same as cleaning out closet because he sometimes has flash backs of this song the music video the guy who got shoot in the video is Doody proof Marshall's childhood best friend about 2 years later got shoot the same way as the video
I love you man you're hilarious lol hard to start when you start getting all excited the the drop by but actually going on I love your reaction feeling so bad afterwards 😂😂😂 Legend
I don't know if you'll see this comment. Im not sure how old he was when Encore released. But i know he only got famous and relevant when he was 27. So I'm pretty sure he's in his 30's in this video. I think it's crazy he looked so young, but he still kinda has a baby face when he shaves. So i think his facial features have always been kinda misleading. Cause when I first saw Eminem like .... 15 years ago I thought he was like 22 or 23.
So if this was not addressed in the comments. The person in the hospital bed dying is his best friend Proof from D12. He did end up dying from getting shot in Detroit, and if memory serves me correctly this album came out shortly after that happened. This was Em back story to all the beef that led up to his demise.
Proof got shot and died in the video of EMINEM saying he is putting all his beefs to bed before someone else dies because he loves his friends and out of love and respect for the culture he wanted it to stop before it escalated and someone in the game died as a result. Two years after this video came out, in April 2006, Proof was shot to death following a fight in a Detroit nightclub and the people around tried to blame it on Proof saying he just came in and started shooting, but anyone who knows Proof knows that’s not him, he was all about de-escalating the situation and wouldn’t draw his gun or shoot first. The part about Hallie was Ja Rule was beefing with EM because he signed 50 Cent and Ja said “EM, you claim your mother’s a crackhead and Kim is a known slut so what’s Hallie going to be when she grows up” and that is what sparked the beef that led to this song. You really don’t hear about Ja Rule anymore because EM and D12, EM’s group he signed to his own label after he became famous, absolutely obliterated his career.
2004. Any Eminem song is a good day. 👍 That is actually Proof in the video laying in the hospital and he died 1 year later. I bet Eminem can't watch this.
@@MadVillian05 no the song "Difficult" was about Proof. The song came out in 2011 on the Shady Project. This one in the video was about Bugz which unfortunately foretold proofs murder as well as Proof was playing Bugz in this video.
The guy in the hospital bed is depicting the late Proof, Eminem's lifelong childhood hood who died- I cannot remember the specifics around the death but I believe he was shot and killed.
Theres no rules when it comes to battling. The thing Ja said about Haley wasn't even super direct. He said her name, but all he said was something about his mom, his BM, then said "so what's haley gon be when she grows up?" he didn't take it to the extreme he could have. His own people would've got on his ass for violating like that.
The crazy thing about this video, is that it's actually proof from D12 playing the guy dying in the hospital bed, and a year later, he actually gets shot and killed 😳 🤯🤯
The guy that dies is his best friend and like 2 years later or something like that he does get shot for real there’s a song called difficult by Eminem it’s for proof and you can actually hear Eminem how much drugs he was taking that’s what send the drug addiction over the top it’s a long song but you can feel Eminem’s pain he lost his best friend since child and he’s like in something
I’m not a huge fan of Mgk but as a person in the mental health field I’d think you would appreciate his song called lead you on and would like to see your reaction
Every beef major beef that eminem has had other than the Mariah Carey one was because they said something about his daughter that’s something you don’t do us fans compare that to someone killing John wicks dog if you mention Eminem’s daughter on a diss he will end your career all them rappers on them videos no longer have a career or than doing concerts for 10 dollars I would go to a benzino or ja rule or mgk concert if they paid me 200 dollars I really mean that I have been sober for 4 years and counting so I wouldn’t go for the free drinks and I can make more than 200 dollars on a Saturday specially if it’s a side job I’m an electrician

The emotional Rollercoaster you visually went on before, during, and after the beat started at the beginning was so adorable. Lol I love seeing how much you appreciate Em's art. I would LOVE to see you react to Same Song and Dance! It's just pure chaos and its ALL Shady.
It's worth 400 million... he still made the money, this song, and his entire album made him famous
Such a legendary song. 🔥
4:20 it’s definitely as alive now as it was back then. Now it’s just more focused in certain areas, mostly in Floridian and Chicago
12:08 Something people don't notice. Those are the two kids from the start. They were representing the next generation, what the current rappers were leaving behind in the future.
What a great reaction, finessed it sir. Talk to them man
Proof is the one shot and years after this video was made he actually died this exact way and feels like this song was his demise in real life
I still get goose bumps every time I watch the video. Because that's proof acting in the video and it turned into a reality just a few yrs after. Bet Em can't watch this. So sad.
Classic song .
About a year later is proof, who was pretending to be the one dying in this video, actually did die. Extremely sad.
R.I.P Proof
My grandma kept my mom’s toys, and I played with all of em. From 80’s Lego and said toy soldiers. I played with hella toy soldiers as a kid
Lol therapist was tryna get lit in the beginning
Rest In Peace Bugz & Proof!
So if this was not addressed in the comments. The person in the hospital bed dying is his best friend Proof from D12. He did end up dying from getting shot in Detroit, and if memory serves me correctly this album came out shortly after that happened. This was Em back story to all the beef that led up to his demise.
This song came out like 2 years before proof died, making Eminem feel like he brought that situation on proof
RIP Proof
R.I.P. Proof
This was a good one! Thanks for the upload
Amazing song and therapy session! Best godly, loving, life changing channel I've seen ever! 🙌❤️🔥💖
Thank you so much!😊❤️
Wow the upload rate is insane! 👏🏾
Incredible what all went down back then😳😢
Incredible what all went down back then😳😢
One of my favorite Eminem songs so sad and emotional! Tooooom we need more $uicideboy$ reactions! ❤
The guy in the hospital bed is his childhood best friend proof from d12 and he was actually shot dead a few month after this song and video came out
Fire ass song frl
I love Eminem and your channel
Em expresses similar thoughts to these in his remix of Tupac's "One Day At a Time"
2004. Any Eminem song is a good day. 👍 That is actually Proof in the video laying in the hospital and he died 1 year later. I bet Eminem can't watch this.
The Invasion is 4 albums.. All the energy...
Nah bro first time seeing a therapist have a discord server
Eminem headlights would be a great one…
Would love to see that one….

He's already do it
@@kylesmith2811 nice one. Il check that out mate.
listen to difficult by eminem, it’s a song about the loss of his bestfriend proof who he’s also rapping about in this video as well
It's about a D12 crew members named BugZ, Proof was killed a year or two after the video released
@@MadVillian05 no the song "Difficult" was about Proof. The song came out in 2011 on the Shady Project. This one in the video was about Bugz which unfortunately foretold proofs murder as well as Proof was playing Bugz in this video.
React to Kurt Kobain by Proof!!! (Eminem's best friend from the video)
The song is written as a suicide note
The guy in the hospital bed is depicting the late Proof, Eminem's lifelong childhood hood who died- I cannot remember the specifics around the death but I believe he was shot and killed.
He’s not depicting Proof. That is Proof. This video came out in 2004. Proof was killed in 2006. It’s very eerie.
I think he was basically saying that Hailey was gonna grow up to be a crackhead and a sl#t
It went right over your head then huh
@@louisep9446 relax yt boy....I know what he was implying, but he didn't directly say it. Suck harder
I love this song and still listen to it today♥️💯
I think any em fans listens to and em song almost daily haha
The crazy thing about this video, is that it's actually proof from D12 playing the guy dying in the hospital bed, and a year later, he actually gets shot and killed 😳 🤯🤯
The guy that dies is his best friend and like 2 years later or something like that he does get shot for real there’s a song called difficult by Eminem it’s for proof and you can actually hear Eminem how much drugs he was taking that’s what send the drug addiction over the top it’s a long song but you can feel Eminem’s pain he lost his best friend since child and he’s like in something
It's proof, and he passed 2 years after the video. The same exact way.
You should check out Enimem difficult a tribute to his friend Proof.
I think we did already?
I know you're not taking suggestions here but Abstract- No more hope for the hopeless Album just dropped!!
I’m not a huge fan of Mgk but as a person in the mental health field I’d think you would appreciate his song called lead you on and would like to see your reaction
goated reaction channel
LETS GOOOOO 🎉
😊👍
Careful the diss tracks is a big rabbit hole to explore
such a sad video to see proof like that...then with what happened...RIP proof.
Every beef major beef that eminem has had other than the Mariah Carey one was because they said something about his daughter that’s something you don’t do us fans compare that to someone killing John wicks dog if you mention Eminem’s daughter on a diss he will end your career all them rappers on them videos no longer have a career or than doing concerts for 10 dollars I would go to a benzino or ja rule or mgk concert if they paid me 200 dollars I really mean that I have been sober for 4 years and counting so I wouldn’t go for the free drinks and I can make more than 200 dollars on a Saturday specially if it’s a side job I’m an electrician
seems like he treated himself
Proof RIP 😔
Crazy Proof is on the table dying and then this literally happened like a year later
Absolutely splendid 😀 👌
