    The way that white dial compliments the gold and stainless is amazing

    Having wanted a Rolex for years, I finally did my research and wanted a watch as a full set including inner, outer box, and all paperwork. For me I wanted the Champaign dial and it had a very good 3135 movement. I bought mine through a reputable dealer two months ago. Mine had very little wear with the same bracelet as yours.

    Just picked up my piece today. (1995). Absolutely stunning. The white and gold was something i been eyeing for sometime ago. 41mm is too big for a DJ. The dial looked empty.

    This watch is identical to my 1991 Rolex datejust. I watched your original video it's an absolute beautiful watch I am now glad I purchased it. It's very difficult to find one with the white dial in the Roman numerals. The one that I own does have some excess stretching with that being said. Hope you are doing better I enjoy watching your introduction about this watch. Which I can show people what my Rolex datejust looks like very few people. Actually get to own a Rolex watch I never wear it to be flashy I just love it because of just how meticulous a Rolex timepiece is an investment that will last a lifetime a Rolex is truly a work of art..

    What a stunning piece! Crazy how the price of these vintage models increased over the past years. ~5-6k€ is the current price 📈

      I agree, these watches have really appreciated in value. I'm glad I bought it when I did otherwise it would cost significantly more to purchase in just a year or two.

    I am fortunate enough to own the 16203 with the gorgeous ivory pyridine dial. I wish I could’ve had the stunning fluted bezel of yours! Outstanding watch.

    ROLEX made the thin flexible clasp for a reason if the clasp dosent lock that tight you can slightly bend the middle bit and it will lock even tighter 😉

    Thanks for taking the time to review this vintage watch! I came across a 'Rolex' at a pawn shop on a whim, and it was a possible vintage model retailing for $5,000 but upon inspection, I saw that the gold links were hollow which made me think it was fake. The box itself also didn't look genuine, but perhaps I was wrong? I believe it was a smaller model than this one though, more of a ladies' watch.

    • @anypointintime9547
      @anypointintime9547  Рік тому

      It’s extremely important to do a lot of research before buying a vintage Rolex to increase your chances of getting an authentic watch. Sometimes it’s very hard to know for sure. The smaller 31mm Datejusts are the women’s models. Older Rolexes came in a very different (cheap) looking box.

      From your description, it's impossible to say if the watch you saw is fake. However, it's important to keep in mind that most 5 digit references use hollow center links and end links. So, hollow links can't be used as a determining factor to the authenticity of the watch on most 5 digit references, especially Datejusts and DayDates.

    Hi! Does the lume still work? Is there a way to re-lume a Rolex? I also have a Rolex from a similar time frame but the lume does not glow anymore

    • @anypointintime9547
      @anypointintime9547  2 роки тому

      I imagine that a good watch repair technician may be able to apply luminous material to the dial indices. However it might be easier to have the dial replaced with a new one since that would also improve the lume.

    How did you verify that it was from 1988? I bought the same watch and took it to Rolex they themselves could only confirm it was from the era of 1994-1996 but couldn’t confirm which year exactly…would be great to know how you confirmed yours? Great video nonetheless

    • @anypointintime9547
      @anypointintime9547  3 роки тому +3

      The watch seller estimated the watch was from that year. I verified it by removing the watch band, finding the serial number and comparing it with a Rolex serial number chart like below:

    Are you sure it is a luminova dial? Rolex used tritium up to the late 90's, I don't think they were using luminova in 1988 yet.

    I’ve got the champagne dial of this. Expected the bracelet be less jiggly

    • @anypointintime9547
      @anypointintime9547  3 роки тому +2

      The bracelets on Rolex watches made in that period of time with that type of jubilee bracelet tend to be very jiggly. I believe it is due to stretch on the metal links over time. I too had expected a sturdier, more durable feeling to the Datejust bracelet. There are some restoration services that will repair the bracelet so it doesn’t flex as much.

    I have the same watch, born on date 1988, but the Roman numeral number is upside down on 5 to 8 marks, compare to your watch.

    • @anypointintime9547
      @anypointintime9547  2 роки тому +2

      There is more than one dial design for the Datejust. One has the Roman numerals oriented as on my watch, the other is oriented like your watch.

      @@anypointintime9547 I think mine is early 1988 models.

      I don’t doubt that yours is a 1988 model. Mine is too. Searching online, I see that both orientations exist for Datejust Roman numeral dials made in the 1980s and 1990s.
