I was paying £95 each for 4 watches every 6 months to get polished, I’ve just tried your method on one of my watches and it’s just as good as taking it to the shop, you have have just saved me £380 from this video…life saver 🙏🏼
I like that you are careful and precise in your methods. That's how one receives the best results. Some others on UA-cam used the exact same materials, but they seemed to rush the process. Their results were not satisfactory in my opinion. Good job, Leonardo!
Best DIY/instructional video I’ve seen in awhile! Succinct, methodical, and straight-to-the-point… but more importantly honest. The sort that one can expect - and can’t expect anything less of - from a German. From a former watch industry professional, fellow enthusiast, collector, and German as well!
Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops! AMZWATCH watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
Thank you for the video! I bought a used Seiko Alpinist with many light scratches on the bracelet and thanks to your video, made the bracelet look like new!
Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops! MAMACOO watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from MAMACOO I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
Thanks for the tip, I managed to get a couple of scratches on the brushed side of my watch case from 320 emery paper I was using to smooth some sharp edges from a bracelet. Silly me, I didn't remove the bracelet first. Anyway just used the scotch pad on the watch and it is now almost perfect. I think I will do a little more when I have time as the pad is a little worn out, the scratches are not deep, so a new pad should finish the job. Thanks again!
Good job! Although "close the crown" made me laugh a bit. I love watches and collect them. It's good you make this for everybody. It was really helpful.
Amazing how well the Brillo pad trick worked on my clasp, which I'd managed to get a weirdly broad zig-zag scratch after just a couple of weeks... it's not gone completely but it's no longer immediately noticeable. Thanks!
I used a similar cloth called the rouge polishing cloth on my 18k gold Rolex watch and removed all the fine scratches and scuff marks from the shiny surfaces of the bracelet and the sides of the watch case.. Fortunately the brushed parts were in mint condition. The rouge cloth has one part for removing the scratches and the other part for buffing the surfaces to a fine shine. The entire watch looks brand new. However for best results I recommend using the cloth in one direction and not back and forth. If you do it this way each and every scratch will be removed.
Great video firstly and even though I’m a Tudor collector I have many other watches old and new but I think steinhart is a great watch for the price point. I have the Pepsi ocean gmt, Titanium gmt and ocean one vintage gmt with all of them being great time keepers. Only trouble I had was the Pepsi bezel is stiff to start but I promise it will free up having sent one back and having paid import duties twice. Another great brand is axios and zelos, phoibos and mmi watches to name a few micro brands. Keep collecting people and keep videos coming 👌🏻👍🏻
Great video! I was thinking about buying my first vintage watch but I wanted to know how hard it is to polish and brush them. Seems like it's actually really easy! Even if I don't end up buying a vintage watch, I might still use this method on my current watch :).
I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the MAMACOO's watches are the most intriguing.
I made mistake of using a polishing cloth on my brushed links on my seiko 5kx and it actually stripped off a layer of stainless steel. I will never make that mistake again and I will only ever use a polishing cloth on polished surface (e.g on polished centre links) and I'll be sure to use a more abrasive cloth on the brushed surfaces. It was such a rookie mistake because it was my first time ever polishing a watch so I had no idea I shouldn't have used a polishing cloth to remove scratches from brushed surfaces/links. Thankfully the damage done wasn't catastrophic but you can see black lines underneath the steel from where some layers were stripped away from the effects of the polishing cloth. Lesson learned the hard way!
A citizen came across my desk and I was impressed that with its scratches and imperfections it still maintained an attractive profile. Then a Movado came across my desk and I was very unimpressed with how dingy its appearance was although it was less worn than the citizen. I think the dominant colors play a big part. The citizen was a muted blue while the Movado was onyx black. That black shows a myriad of imperfections, and in a negative light.
Thanks for this. I’ve wanted a Tudor for quite some time now. The large blank surfaces of the thick housing of the Tudor really does get scratched. Not to take away anything from the watch, just something to consider.
I bought my tudor on eBay with a pretty deep scratch on the polished steel and used the Cape Cod cloth and it took it out after about three minutes. The watch was about $500 cheaper due to the scratch. Worked great.
Titanium forms a natural oxide layer. It's a softer metal that scratches more easily but micro scratches will be less visible once that layer forms. No point in polishing the watch repeatedly, those hairline scratches are unavoidable and it destroys the vintage value of the watch (if it's a valuable piece).
That all depends on the watch brand. Some manufacturers (e.g. Citizen) treat their titanium cases with a very hard coating that is highly resistant to scratches. Or other brands that may use a special titanium alloy for extra hardness.
FYI - Don’t press too hard with the cape cod polish cloth, the watch surface will probably get pitted…I managed to achieve this with my heavy handed polishing technique on my Rolex.
I am a watch collector that ended up going to watchmaker school. My advice- if they are "desk diver" marks from daily wear, don't worry too much. If you are selling it, send it to a professional.
There's no way to avoid scratches on a watch, especially one that's worn daily. I just let the scratches accumulate and after some time, the multiple scratches are all well-distributed throughout the entire watch, forming its own unique "finish".
Thank you for the video, I just have a question: How does an abrasive sponge do anything to stainless steel? Was it a specific type of abrasive sponge? I want to try this, just having trouble believing that the brushed area polishing method shown will actually do anything as it’s plastic/nylon abrasive material against steel, right?
I have the best effect using the metal scrub(new) for scorched pans. It’s fine and put it in my drill for a continues rotation while finishing my bracelet ( Tudor Pelagos Ti). Perfect effect.
Hello, thank you for the video. I wanted to ask if the kitchen scrub methods work for gold brushed surface ? Will the gold shinny ness of the watch be affected by using the kitchen scrub ?
Would this method work for a watch case made of stainless steel with a black finish? I assume not, as it would brush away the finish and leave only the brighter uncolored steel beneath, but I’m not an expert so im not totally sure
Did you apply some sort of paste on the polished surface before wiping it with the cloth? Looks that way on the video atleast. Great video btw. Thanks for the tips!
Can you please tell me what i need to use exactly to remove scratches on the titaniun band links of the gshock MRGB1000D? is the band polished or brushed? thank you
@@barbogarin You need to make sure you are brushing in only one direction each time for the stainless steel brushed portions. If you notice, brushed steel has lines in it brand new. You can get this look back but need to make sure you keep the bracelet stationary and follow the same direction.
Have a question? I have a submariner, it does have some scratches What do u mean by remove material? If I polish am I removing layers of the watch or something
I've been using this product since i was a kid. For watches, my own Black Bay that i will never sell. I use this but in the lightest manner. I'm not worried about dents or major scratches, those are it's character. But the clasp which is something i will eventually replace anyways. I use this. I don't use it on my case. My Tudor/Rolex dealer has let me know that they can do it if i want, but i just leave the case alone

The best video on youtube for amateurs, sponge for brushed and cape cod for polished surfaces, easy and effective 👍
Just tried this for the first time and am very happy with the results. Thanks for posting instructions!
I cannot believe how well the scotch-brite worked! Made the scratches from stubborn springbars almost completely unnoticable. Thanks for sharing!
Was it their classic heavy duty sponge you used?
@@johnhead7003yeah i use green heavy duty its work great
I don’t understand what the scotch brite does , doesn’t it scratch it more?
@@janejetson88 It's basically rebrushing a brushed surface. Ultimatelty, it's masking light scratches with even brushed scratches.
Here I was ready to invest in a rotary tool and sorts of attachments, but this $8 polish cloth is apparently all I need. Thank you!

Holy Cow, this works. I was so sad with my Omega SMP300 clasp being all scratched up by my laptop. Scotch brite has masked it up quite a bit.
What an amazing outcome for a beautiful watch. Always a pleasure to see amzwatch work your magic. Thanks for sharing this transformation with us!

I have a titanium watch and it's why I stay away from them now. They look dull compared to SS and I just don't see the upside.
Pretty cool can this be done on a Tissot PRX 40 Quartz watch ?
It's a shame this didn't contain the bezel also which is the area I need to restore, but one of the best videos I've seen so far
Maybe you can purchase a replacement bezel that is made of ceramic.

Are you using anything with the sponge for the brushed area or just the sponge and some water?
When you use the polish cloth you state about taking off material? Is it removing parts of the actual metal?
Many thanks, what is the name of this watch?
Thanks for posting. Very instructive.
Good, helpful and informative video, thanks a lot.

Hello! Will the green scrub also work on satinized steel?
Very nice,and nothing complicated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you my man great to the point video
best video i have seen!
So for brushed steel only the rough side of a sponge will do it. That will not scratch it more ?
Is the green sponge wet or dry when you use it?
Will using the kitchen Scrub process work on a Gold color brushed metal bracelet ?
So you use the scrub side for brushed surfaces? Wouldn’t that make more marks?
Would this method work for a watch case made of stainless steel with a black finish? I assume not, as it would brush away the finish and leave only the brighter uncolored steel beneath, but I’m not an expert so im not totally sure
