Rolex 36 beats both JLC (looks wise not movement wise) and Omega, but no that Zenith, Zenith looks phenomenal.
JLC look the business
Sorry but that Zenith is trying too hard. Rolex DJ is timeless and subtle, doesn't need a lot of tricks to make an impression.
I bought a 1992 two tone datejust 36 for my 30th birthday. replaced the bracelet with a strap at first, but now im loving the vintage vibe of the oyster bracelet. the five digit serial is the best imo. vintage feel with the sapphire crystal.
How much did you buy it
literally just brought 1980 16013 datejust for my 30th birthday lol
I also got a 92 for my 30th! It's my favorite for sure
I have a 1970 ref1601 silver dial with diamond numbers and ref16030 Buckley dial 1984 with 3.5ct diamond bezel, my birth year. Love these timepieces.
1990’s DateJust are the most beautiful watches ever made. Much better understated beauties than the new models.
The Rolex is better than the other watches you showed IMO because its understated, elegant and more rugged. It is just the pefect one watch, IMO.
Thanks for the video, informative and enjoyable.
I own a 1601 from 1971 and it is perfect! I wear it daily and it feels just perfect!
I purchased one from a pawn shop about four years ago. Mine is a 2006 version, I love the damn thing.
I just picked up a 1978 16013 on the original USA oval 14k jubilee. In the 70's many USA Rolex Datejust's would have the Jacob Bender Champion USA jubilee installed as Rolex contracted them out to make the bands to help reduce the import tax.
I would never pay 5/6+ thousand for an old Datejust. I did however spend less than a 1/5th of that on a beautiful Korean case, gen dial/crystal/crown/bezel/datewheel franken build and short of breaking it open no one will ever know the difference. Yes, in case anyone is wondering I do tell the truth when asked "Is that a real Rolex", and I tell them it's 40% 100% Rolex everytime and explain franken builds. lol. I don't care about money/status/etc. I just love Datejusts and every dial that they come with. I honestly think the Rolex brand is shit at this point, but damn if their vintage pieces aren't just beautiful. The aesthetics are unrivaled IMO. The dude doing this video has a fabulous narrator voice, lol. Keep it up man!
Love the vintage ones and new ones
I own a 1973 1603, I love it
I’m very attracted to the 92 datejust just because it’s my birth year, but I’m new to watches and don’t wanna go too expensive too soon. Great video.
Take your time and enjoy the hunt!
The vintage piece is nice. The zenith is definitely the best one for value.
Agreed!
In 1998 I bought this watch with the Ivory Pyramid face used for 3k, The jewelry store was closing and the owner never came back after having it serviced, Being a smaller guy I can't pull off a 40mm watch, Twenty five years latter it's still perfect, You get what you pay for
What's its current value
@@madflavour8548 Don't know the value, I do know my watch is in much better condition than the one used for the video, (Basically just sits in the box) The White Pyramid Face adds to it
I bought the same watch 1 month ago, from 1995 unworn full set with no stretch on the bracelet, what an absolute stunner this watch is 😍
@@madflavour8548i bought it for 7500 euro’s, mint condition
36mm looks amazing
never has been made a better watch, choose wathever variation existent, great addition!
Residuals are important 👍
Great review
Glad you enjoyed it!!
I bought one a week ago with black tapestry from 1989z It’s rare and it looks very sophisticated! I don’t care what people say! I paid 7500$ and that allot less than a modern 41!
Nice review ❤
Thank you 😊
Ima be real yall , my first Rolex was a 1994 26mm date just couldn’t tell me nothing it was perfect & I got it for 1200$ 😮 upgrading it in the morning after 2 years to a 34mm date just I’m excited !
Thanks for sharing!
Denzel Washington vibes from this guy and I love it!
I own a 1601 i picked up last year for around $3600 fully serviced that i daily drive now. While i agree feature wise its beaten by some other newer watches for sure theres just something about owning your first rolex if youre a watch person that just cant be replicated. Idk how to really explain it. Ive owned many omegas both vintage and modern, a breitling and a tudor bb but that crown logo just hits different lol
Thank you for the video. I am thinking of buying a 36 Datejust from 1996 as my first watch ever.
Good choice!
Thanks for the great video, Most of the Vintage Rolex's I've found don't have Box and papers, do you think their still worth buying?
Yes, just have a jeweler check it out first. Expect a discount without bix and papers, but not much.
I just did today no box 9r papers but i boughtnit from a Jared store
I’ve been saving up to purchase my first vintage Swiss Rolex watch what I’m looking for is a date just 36 mm two tone champagne dial
I’m on the hunt for it hoping to find one between 5000$ to $6000 that’s in good condition. Something about that watch just draw me to it as far back as I can remember as a kid I’ve always wanted this watch with the Jubilee bracelet and the proportions of the watch are just perfect and in my opinion it oozes class
A vintage datejust is quintessential class
@@TalkingTimepieces thanks. I’m located in New Jersey. Any suggestions on where I could find this watch from a trusted dealer
@@larryfishkind5387 Go into Manhattan, there are boutiques for each of those brands there.
@@TalkingTimepieces hello i got this same watch 1994 a week ago with this dial . In perfect condition looks new . I paid 6500 . No box or pp is that ok?
Great looking watch! I have a question and it might be dumb, but is the gold real or just plated?
Rolex doesn't plate. The gold links in the old bracelet are just loops, though. Not solid
@@TalkingTimepieces spot on once again Alix. A lot of people will get this wrong and argue the point.
One of the important factors is the servicing, it's not easy to find watchmakers who can service vintage Rolex watches well.
Not really.. Bulk of them still uses 3135 which is the basics for rolex movement. Any watch technician worth his salt can overhaul this easily.
Little bit beat up, too much scratches etc but a great watch still
Please show us your ring collection
I only own two, I always wear the same on each hand. One is custom-made, though.
I m woman but I m crazy of r vintage Rolex , I m looking for one but didn't find the one yet . Someoen recommend a dealer?
Chrono24.com
At what point did the brand improve the quality of the bracelet?
About 15~20 years ago
Depends on the model, but I would say any Rolex after 2000s has a decent bracelet
Can’t decide between a
1803 Gold Day Date or a 16013 Date Just Two Tone Gold with a Tapestry Dial
they both so stunning… but i think i go with the date just bc its half the price in fullset… i don’t wanna spend 16k for a watch with no box & papers 😅 whats your opinion?
I'd go with the solid gold over the two-tone anyway, it's more classic. I agree with your other points as well.
How often are papers faked on these? And how can you tell if the registration papers are legit
Gold day date!
I have the perfect version of the datejust and it’s perfect but I’ve always wanted the day datev1800
@@Jeremy-md9ws Picked a 1803 DD from 1986 up for my self as a Christmas Gift 🫡 bought it in Perfect Condition with Box & Papers in Germany for around 17,200€ (Instead of 17.5k) bc i knew the seller 😅
Is that a Dexter signet ring?
It's my family crest, I had it made. The stone was cut in Idar-Oberstein. Ironically I was stationed there as a soldier once
@@TalkingTimepieces What is that sardonyx?
@@b.johnathanwarriorinagarde7980 I don't think so. It's cut like a cameo, the color comes from the depth of the cut
@@TalkingTimepieces Oh ok even still, I rarely see proper signet rings these days, it caught my attention.
@@b.johnathanwarriorinagarde7980 thanks, I'm glad you like it.
No wrist shot??
Next time
@@TalkingTimepiecesunforgivable Alix, I'm unsubscribing 😂 jk
Debating buying a 1984 black dial Roman numeral for 4500 tonight, too much you think?
How big? 36?
@@TalkingTimepieces yes. I bid 4300 it went to 4700 but didn’t even see that n it sold. Trying to get into it to maybe flip, is it worth buying without papers?
@@Gabagoolll471 it depends on the quality. Was it polished? Can you see the case lines clearly? The price is too high to flip, but ok to keep
@@TalkingTimepieces it was pretty nice. I’ll keep that in mind. So anything under 5k no papers is ok. This is first time I’ve ever gone that high on a watch Thx for responding
@@Gabagoolll471 just have someone you trust vet it as real
DUDE NEXT TIME CLEAN AND BUFF YOUR WATCHES! THEN DO YOUR VIDEOS!
I noticed, doing more wiping while shooting now.
How rude, all caps!😮
@@TalkingTimepiecesall those caps. never mind Alix, I told him off for you.😂
@@TalkingTimepiecesyou just gonna let the fact he told you to buff a VINTAGE ROLEX slide?😂
@@michaelfosnaught2238 hahahaha, good point! NEVER Polish!
No debate 36mm Rolex is the watch. American Psycho!!!!
It is insanely classic!
