Stacklands is a village builder where you stack cards to collect food, build structures, and fight creatures.
For example, dragging a 'Villager' card on top of a 'Berry Bush' card will spawn 'Berry' cards which the villagers can eat to survive!

You can also sell cards to get coins which you can use to buy Card Packs. Packs contains multiple cards that you can use to expand your village. Every pack has a focus such as Cooking, Farming or Building.
At the end of every Moon you'll need to feed your villagers - make sure you have enough food, or your villagers will starve!

Well thanks Retromation from now on I will refer to the act of baby making as a "two person alchemical ritual to make one smaller person"
I like to imagine it's literally just an alchemy ritual; no potential parent-child incest there, no siree! Also explains why the rabbits don't reproduce (rabbits don't know alchemy, duh!)
That would explain the birds and the bees! How else would they get it on
I wonder if the community loves this game enough - if SockPop will invest in expanding on the game. I love the concept and gameplay but I just wish there was a bit more to do in it
I hope so, this game is ripe for expansion. Or even just if they re-use the engine and pump out little spin-offs with different themes I wouldn't even be mad.

There needs to be a way to get rid of mystery objects, and something to do with bones. Bones have a misleading yet accurate description. Accurate not in game terms but in real life terms.
Also, last update seems to kill the "Carrot meta" wich was amazing, to be honest. Also, there could be more recipies, or maybe, maybe some potions. That would be awesome.
Also, maybe put the animals in the farm, for mentallity sake, like a barn or something, it could be something interesting to see if "the animals scape from the barn" and you need another role, maybe farmer.

My girlfriend walked in as retro was saying "I got this poop, i dont know what to do with." She asked me what i was watching i said a gameplay video on youtube, she replied with "Yeah, okay sure." and walked out....
Retro don't forget to stack a villager on three rocks or the wood to craft brick and planks. The brick and plank's are a lot more cost efficient for selling. Regular wood/stone sells for 1 a pop. While the brick/plank sells for 5 and takes three resources. That's a 50 percent increase. It's like selling wood for two coins vs one
Or, for wood, just make sticks. 2 coins for 1 wood.

Really loving the game so far, looking forward to the updates. I've been speedrunning the game like you mentioned in your let's try, the mechanics of the game are actually really cool. Speeding up the game with tab makes cards pop out from packs faster, really improving the flow of pack opening. That being said, it also means days pass fast and running out of food is easy. Looking forward to your future videos on the game :)
A fun little trick: you can stack black cards, like the berry bushes, and the villager will harvest them from top to bottom.
I bought this game after watching just 5 and a half minutes of this video and I LOVE it. I've already unlocked everything that's available so far. XD

Personally whenever I start a game of this I try to get an apple and put it as far away from the villager as possible (As the game feeds the villager from the closest thing). I then try to get soil, because you can plant the apple for an apple tree, which in turn will give you 3 apples. Also I believe there's a recipe thats apple+berry for fruit salad.
yeah, that was what was annoying me the most, I'm still at 8:30 of the video, but I kept wanting to scream at the screen for him to place the apple in the soil instead of the berry...

it's a really cool game. milk and a berry is really valuable early on if you have a cow, you can mass produce milk shakes worth 5 coin and 2 food.

I'll put some tips ahead if you want to, but you can avoid them if you don't want any spoiler:

You might want to sell as much as you can as fast as you can unless you have a plan for it.
You can get a greater reward selling it that waiting for it to be important.
You'd want to ensure food and eating first, this is why buying cards is important, Soil is quite relevant at the begining.
Poop does nothing.
Bones do one thing and you need to be active and proactive for that moment, but one will suffice.
Focus on ensuring "resource making" cards Quarry for starters.
After you've ensured plenty of food, you need to increase you maximum card capacity (please don't take this for granted)
Money doesn't count, so just store it away.
Later in the game you'd want to ensure more cooking resources (Campfires, etc)
Since todays (04/07/2022) update, you'd rather stick to strong food cards but don't cook that much or anticipate that much food resources for cooking, remember your max card capacity.
I could give you more but I think this might already be enough.

I would imagine they could keep adding expansion or booster packs, maybe with various themes or something.
Imagine the Emotion Pack, where it only has modifying cards, "sad" might slow down a meter, "ecstatic" makes meter move faster, "confused" makes a resource change from a fixed result to a range. So a single Confused Wood can turn into between 0-3 sticks or something along those lines.
I havent watched past the 10 min mark, so this already could be in the game in some fashion as far as i know lol

Very happy you're doing a mini series on this game. It is charming and an incremental-type game that I find more engaging than something like Increlution.
I don't recall if you attempted this (and i haven't played this myself), but would stacking villagers on a task speed up the process? That could make something like digging in the quarry much quicker.

If you like this game i highly recommend Cultist Simulator. The basic concept in Stacklands is taken from there. The story and exploration is deep in Cultist Simulator.

This feels like almost like a tower defense game, except it's cards, and you're not defending, you're just trying to manage your own growth
Carrots solve all food problems.. forever

I enjoyed playing it. Sad that's a really short and quick game. Guess I've finished it in like 2-3 hours, but really enoyed it.
One thing that was a pain: when enemies or even animals moved around and mess with all my cards positioning lol

It really is a great game. That being said, it also isn't that difficult if you pause whenever you want to organize things. Also helps that you can do everything except sell cards while the game is paused in the Steam version.
I managed to beat the game on my first run without even knowing the win condition. I just stopped my second run to prepare dinner where I have more resource production than I know what to do with. No joke, I'm selling bricks because I'm producing too many of them. Helps when you double up on lumber yards and quarries. The only reason I haven't tripled up on them is because I can't be bothered to feed more villagers. At least not until I can passively feed all my current villagers.
This video swayed me into buying the game, looks up my alley
Just wanted to say thanks for putting the steam link in the description even if it isn't out there yet. This game piqued my interest, but I'm not a fan of downloading games manually & individually.
When I checked the itchio page I couldn't see anything about steam so I was going to skip it, but now I see it's going to steam tomorrow I'll be sure to give it a try.
if you suscribe to their patron, you could get it right away. Patron is 3 bucks only and you can unsuscribe right after that so it's cheaper than steam. If you get the patron suscription you get updates tho.

I love this game. I bought it after your let's try. Little tip, though I'm not done with the video, is if you're barely over the card limit you don't have to sell at the end of the moon because your villagers will eat the berry cards
