people often comment stuff about "videos to fall asleep to", this might be the first I've seen that you could feasibly wake up and not have finished yet
My comical thoughts going in "Oh a 6 hour it probably a unedited vod but I haven't seen the rom hack so I'll give it a chance" to "oh it's only about 5% of how long the vod was" 😂
I am honestly blown away by the editing in Thai video. 267 hours and you cut it down to the important and best moments, while including information and fun hints. I put this on thinking it was a long video to fall asleep to, but I was hooked and could not fall asleep lmao.
Oh right, Angry Max figured out the Electrokoopa coin recently too. The koopa despawns after you grab the shine, so you grab the shine over water, cause the shine softlock, and the koopas gone... I wouldn't have found that in a million years.
I can't believe I almost skipped this because I watched most of the alt channel vods and some streams already. The extra commentary and editing was super appreciated
Thank you so much for these 267 hours! I loved every single stream you did and not even one of them was ever boring. I'd honestly rewatch the whole journey again... Thank you!
Finally finished this video after god knows how long. Absolutely fantastic!!! The stats were very appreciated as well! Also, for a game I thought was pretty much un-kaizoable this is great (Minus pachinko LOL) and just all around one of the best romhacks I've ever seen. Great stuff!
It's taken me all week to get through this, but man what an insane amount of time and effort went into this video. Utmost of props for both the skill and masochism that went into conquering this absolutely satanic (yet very well designed) hack, and just as much for how long this must have taken to put together in post. We certainly have come a ways from Super Chain Chomp Kaizo 64.
I have been watching your videos since you uploaded a SMS speedrun back in 2019 You basically got me into Speedrunning as a whole. It all started here. Thank you so much Trey. Your content is incredibly inspiring and people like you are the reason why SMS is seen as one of the best Mario games to this date. In recent years, I have started to see discourse over which Mario is the *best-handling* in terms of controls and I think your videos opened a lot of people's minds to the fact that SMS Mario is pretty much peak
never even knew you played this hack but the amount of effort that went into this video is mind boggling to me. as a casual enjoyer of sms speedrunning seeing all of the little trivia tidbits adds so much knowledge to the experience and makes me appreciate the effort that went into this massive journey way more. never even knew there were clips, tricks, and secrets like the one this hack showcased, let alone how much time it must've taken to discover on a relatively blind playthrough (despite the fact the man is a sms legend). probably the most amazing video related to sms i've watched since the 100% TAS was completed. this video deserves way more recognition than it has. bravo.
I loved this series a lot and this super cut is an unexpected treat! I really hope to see more streams from Trey in the future, like Yakuza or something. It will be super fun to watch whatever he decides to do!
...When I was a kid, I had nightmares where my GameCube was sentient, and would force me to play super-hard "remixes" - for lack of a better word - of real (or sometimes even not real) games. And any time I failed, he'd shock me with electricity. This looks like the kind of thing he would've tortured me with. This is... I've only just finished the Bianco Hills section, and I'm horrified. Which, naturally, makes it very entertaining to watch. Play? *NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.*
Allright, done. Usually for those kind of long supercut or "let's play" videos I would put them in the background and miss 70% of the cool stuff but not this time. Over the course of the days since this got uploaded I watched this on short sessions, just to stay focused and miss as little as possible about all the cool strats and cool ideas to rearange the game. This was FANTASTIC, an amazing hack with somehow an even more amazing host. I'm looking forward to actually look at the unedited streams (in the background) to see all that we missed here, the learning the discoveries the tests. It's been a fantastic watching experience and I can't thank you enough Trey for managing to be so funny, educating and upbeat all the while. One of the best Niche channel up there. Keep being average, Trey!
This is the most incredible gameplay I've ever seen. "Well done" doesn't feel appropriate enough. I believe this is yours... I found it in the Corona Mountain orange juice 👑
It’s been a blast watching this journey of Doot gaming. I’m definitely not making it far into this hack, probably 20-30 shines at most, but if anything, the vods/the supercut taught me so much about Sunshine (both technically and knowledge) I wouldn’t have known otherwise
watching the progression of doot sunshine in each upload was actively the highlight of each day from start to finish the supercut will be huge for me when i come back each time to re-watch it. 10/10 cinema
absolutely loved every single SECOND of this series, it was often the highlight of my days getting a new upload on my break at work. thank you for all the amazing content :)
So crazy that Sunshine is so technical to master, but so damn fun to watch. I sat through the whole thing and don't regret a minute of it. I was cheering with ya during the harder stuff. You had my jaw on the floor with some of these. Amazing run! And thank you for this amazing supercut!
You're a legend, Trey. Great gameplay, great vibes, the whole run was a delight and here you're dropping a smooth, slick version for the general audience. Love it!
I just finished it after about a week of watching it over time. Worth every second, you're a very entertaining and talented personality for the game, and this is coming from someone who hardly watches streams of anyone. Great content as always, it's always a special occasion getting your video notification on my phone.
This mod looks so fun (and stressful lol) props to the creator i would actually want to play it but there is no way i can learn all this kaizo stuff. I dont like watching long videos yet i watched this whole video every second (on different days obviously), it was incredible maybe if i ever get time i might get to try it
I’ve been sick the last few days, and piece by piece I watched this. My fever induced dreams were of Mario and his different noises clipping into areas he shouldn’t. XD Amazing effort!!! This is such a huuuuge accomplishment. Might go and watch the individual highlights as I’d imagine it would help funny to see your initial reactions to some of the trickery this game demands of you.
I love whenever pros of games make and play rom hacks because it’ll always be like the hardest thing anyone has ever seen and the hack will be rated a 2/10 in terms of difficulty. Reminds me of a quote (I think from a SimpleFlips clip?) regarding Mario 64 hacks where an experienced player makes a hack for beginners and everyone goes “Yeah, this is pretty reasonable” and then they poll the casual players and they just go “I can’t do a wall kick, you’re asking too much of me.”
One of my favorite playtroughs i have watched, Super Mario Sunshine is one of my favorite games of all time, waiting and watching all the episodes during these six months was such an experience, GG Trey!!!
I am going to watch this whole thing and it is going to be fricking glorious. Thank you AverageTrey you brilliant madman for making this a reality for us.
It was very entertaining to watch this series unfold throughout the past half year, the 20ish minute summary videos were perfect for my lunch breaks during work.
* technically u used save states cuz u accidentally reset on the Ricco harbor blue yoin. Jk hats off to you man, this let’s play has been the most I’ve enjoyed in a long while
I've seen Kaizo hacks for other Mario games (SMW, 64), but this has got to be the first hack I've ever seen where knowing the game's glitches inside and out (all of which take lots of practice) is an outright requirement.
awesome video. super entertaining to watch commentary and gameplay wise! fantastic editing and love the trivia stuff. you are absolutely cracked at SMS
Definitely the kind of video you finish after a few days. I just 100%'d watching* Rico Harbor, and I loved the point where Trey learns he can kick the fruit uo to the Yoshi AFTER he is done with the Yoshi, lmao!
Makes it look so easy in the super cut that I forget how many hours I watched him attempt some of these. The genuine joy and often surprise when he finally gets some shines is always a reminder of just how challenging this is
hard to believe that 6.5 hours flew by that quickly. awesome hack, awesome video. would never torture myself with any of it but still a great watch thank you.
Super glad this exists! I've missed Doot. I know it would have bloated the video even more, but I think that some of the shines would have really benefited from a few failed attempts to see what the actual challenge was. Things like the Petey fight aren't really clear that the floor kills you if you haven't seen the full playthrough or the highlight vids. Still really love the video, and love that each shine is ranked by difficulty and has other stats.
Here's one more for the trivia corner, Gelato 100s was the last collectible to be obtained in the first 120 shine playthrough of this hack. I'd say it was the last to be gotten by anyone, but I'm pretty sure someone got it before warspy removed some massive coin cheese exploit.
Doot came out right before Pace Fall of 2023 and I remember seeing my man CeddyWithin grinding it every day in the practice room. It's actually crazy. Ggs on finishing it Trey and thanks for a complete vid of the process that I'll be watching in segments lol
i love how the cut at 2:32:37 makes it look like he spent the next 55 hours attempting that level
Honestly that’s the Doot experience tho
Lmao
people often comment stuff about "videos to fall asleep to", this might be the first I've seen that you could feasibly wake up and not have finished yet
You've never watched a Twilight Princess speedrun then 😂
Really? I can think of quite a few which are 12 hours or more of genuine content.
Check out "I Finished a Video Game" and always get recommended his Indiana Jones video
Watch Quinton Review my good fam
ZFG for OoT/MM, Oatsngoats for Metroid, Simpleflips for SM64/TTT. I can't think of many others right now. But that's my go-tos.
took me two weeks of work lunches but I finally finished this video
oh, nice.
My comical thoughts going in "Oh a 6 hour it probably a unedited vod but I haven't seen the rom hack so I'll give it a chance" to "oh it's only about 5% of how long the vod was" 😂
I get to watch Trey's entire playthrough of my hack a THIRD time?! Let's GO!
You're legendary(at least to me lol)
@@angelzavala2254 Thank you!
@@warspykingbig dog big nuts keep the mods coming brother. Proud of ya homie.

@@AverageTreyVG RIGHT?! I was stunned when I saw.
I have seen a ton of kaizo mods but holy shit the creator of doot is unhinged
@@SmittyWerbenJag3rmanJensonthanks :)
I can't believe I almost skipped this because I watched most of the alt channel vods and some streams already. The extra commentary and editing was super appreciated
Im absolutly amazed by how creative this mod is. Every single little glitch is incorporated it feels like. Everything there is to know.
Insane.
Now this is the “i need to rewatch 6 hours worth of footage I’ve already seen because it’s in a supercut” content I’ve been DREAMING of
The video we've all been waiting for. One of the most enjoyable Mario series I've ever watched. Very well done, Not-So-Average Trey :)
I like how after getting that Gelato dock blue he says "it's over" instead of "I did it".
2:04:08 you know it's about the journey rather than the destination when even after 5.2 hours you're still risking it for fun
Thank you so much for these 267 hours! I loved every single stream you did and not even one of them was ever boring. I'd honestly rewatch the whole journey again... Thank you!
slipping this vid into my back pocket to use as my designated lunch video over the next week or two

Oh hey didn't know you were also a trey fan! Just started watching this video, already prepared to spend the next 6 hours on it lol.

Really miss the streams. Thank you for making this.

NO WAY PHIDX WATCHES THIS!?
The amount of sajam slam people who have watched this is now 2 which is higher than expected
I no joke just sat and watched the entire thing in one sitting.
Thanks for making this Trey! Must've taken a while to make, really appreciate it! Loved watching this series as you were actively playing it :)
10:47 Man, playing "the floor is lava" after going through a level where most of the floor actually _is_ lava is such a power move.
