To be fair "Danger Levels" sounds like a straight to DVD Steven Seagal movie
I'm fully convinced that that movie does in fact exist.
Lmaoooo 😂
@@SpencerfromEarth This is like the plot to that movie yesterday. Have you suffered a fall lately?
Or a Tom Clancy novel that gets made into a super low budget "Made for TV" movie in the 80's or 90's. It would have Reb Brown and Robert Z'Dar.
Woah levy is such a good teacher After watching this I beat Magnus Carlson and Hikaru said that I was very cool
He didn't say you were 'decent'? Woah!

Me at 12:55 : Why didn't they see the Nh5 trap?
Them at 13:10 : Nh5 is a 1200 trap
Me, who is actually 1200: You got me this time.
i am also 1200, mainly because it’s the default elo
@@benjaminj4535 - Is it? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean by default elo - could you explain - thanks every so

Default as in you make a new account, it starts at 1200 before you play any match.
@@Euruzilys - yes I know this - but that is not your actual ELO , so it's irrelevant.

Increasing my rating from 500 to 700
Try jOhn bartholomew's climbing rating ladder series it will get you to 1000 quickly
Same oh tho I'm incapable of breaking the 700 barrier, i lost and win 50% of the time.
It's cool bro
No pressure man, the gap between 1000 and 700 is not even big
@@larseunic yeah I'm onmy way too 1000, I'm now 910
Last time I was this early Levy was showing his bullet games to an angry Garry Kasparov
It was a blitz game.
@@NotoriousKhamid damn it, you're right
@@NotoriousKhamid imagine if it was actually a bullet game though😂
Dude wouldve killed him on the spot
love the collabs with northernlion. I m 1600 too finding this really instructive
"He's about 15-1600"
Someone hasn't been keeping up with NL's videos lately...
He's definitely a 15-1600 player, but thinking about and playing chess definitely doesn't fit with his brand of streaming - nor does it fit with having a new baby. I'm excited for him to have some time to sit down and get to something closer to his actual elo in Rapid (maybe 10+5) format, instead of the blitz and bullet without increment he's been pounding through.
@@Hahahahaaahaahaa But he's 2600 in chess.com
Isn’t he 1560 in 10 minute?
What do you mean, NL is between 15 ELO and 1600 ELO.
@@highcue Also like, he literally is in that range in 10 minute. It’s just blitz that he’s like 1300 in.
Omg I love the thumbnail it’s Batman vs NorThernlion
What do you mean Batman? Batman is a lion hunter now?
@@GMPranav gotham
@@zoid_on_youtube but that's the name, not the thumbnail. Plus Levy has mentioned a lot of times that Gotham in his name just represents that he is from NYC and nothing more.
@@GMPranav its a joke man, you dont have to hit it with the engine analysis there
@@zoid_on_youtube Its not a joke that's for sure, but I get your point, you mean it's meant to be taken light heartedly.
More of these please! Your conversations are so helpful!
Absolutely love the Levy + NL videos.
I found you because of the egg and I've been watching every single video of yours ever since.
You're both really natural in front of the camera and very passionate in what you do, it's always good to have you talking during my free time -- I don't even play chess but I believe, like any sport, you don't HAVE to play it to be able to enjoy it.
Great video Levy! Love love love your stuff, since I've been binge watching your stuff since I saw your first video. Keep the lesson videos coming! Such a great way to learn
Idk who the bald Guy is but he is a good student... I like him
The bald guy's name is Northernlion. He does variety content (not just gaming) on both UA-cam and Twitch. I'm a huge fan incase you can't tell :D
the egg carton looking out for father
He's bald??
Papa egg
Northernlion is a legend.
Check out his Twitch, he's streaming much more often as of late. And he's still regularly uploading to youtube.
GothamChess, these videos are amazing. They are instructive and have taught me so much. I hope you continue to make this amazing content!
God tier Thumbnail Levy. Love the lessons with NL and your first one is my go-to to refresh the Dutch. This is something that I'd like you to go through with NL more, some openings cause the discussion and back and forth during the lesson provide more insight to a beginner/novice like me than your (really good admitedly) 10 min opening series
Love your videos, really one of the only sources helping me grasp chess concepts. Keep it up!
His videos are so good. The content and clarity with which he explains the chess concepts is on another level!!!
Thanks a lot Levy!!
He even has the same top tier level of thumbnails as EGGMAN
Day 7: Of requesting Levy to cover opposite coloured bishop endgames.
Especially when you are up by two or three pawns against your opponent and you both have opposite coloured bishops as well
that's easy, just offer a draw and it's done
what'll happen is that all your pieces will go on the opposite color of the opponent bishop and he'll be powerless, it's simply a draw
99% of the games will be draw
@@jvcmarc Not necessarily a draw if you are two or three pawns up on your opponent.
With two or three pawns, you do have some winning chances you know.
Especially if you can force your opponent to sacrifice his bishop for one of your own pawns.
After that happens, if you still have at least one pawn left together with your own bishop, you should be able to win.
@@ivansastre1578 I call bs on those odds.
You do realise that there are some winning chances if you are two or three pawns up on your opponent right?
@@bakulshah4367 if you are some pawns up, it isn't an opposite bishop endgame like the op stated. it's a pawn up opposite bishop.
then you need to push the pawns, and make sure the opponent can't sacrifice the bishop for all the pawns
and if you are some pawns down, you need to get rid of the pawns and fight for a draw
besides that, it's a draw, unless your opponent blunders
I haven't played chess since elementary school. I''m so glad I found your channel at the end of 2020. You've helped me get back into chess. Your videos are fun, instructive and entertaining and most importantly, accessible.
You are a great teacher and I love your explanation of openings, tactics etc.
Keep up the good work _/\_
Already watched live in stream but will definately watch again later to get the ideas in my head. Thanks!
Really instructive and inspiring! As a 1600ish player myself, it was like having a coaching session myself! Keep making awesome content Levy!
Just wanted to thank you. I just played a blitz game and missed a nice tactic regarding a pin along the e file. After analyzing the game, I played another and somehow the same tactic appeared. This was the most proud I ever was of a game I played. Your content helped me improve so much and without your advice I wouldn't have gotten this far. Thank you!
Watching lessons with an intermediate player has been so pogged for improving my intermediate chess
"You didn't invent danger lvls so you shouldn't create a video about it"
makes about as much sense as "You didn't invent chess so you shouldn't make a video about it"
Loving these videos, really doubling down on the chess trend and it's fantastic! Gonna create some real chess champs in 2021!!
I think this style of chess content is the BEST out there!! Please do more
The final example post-game discussion is the prime example of why we love Levy's content
I absolutely adore the videos you two do together!
Levy: "pieces must be at least this tall to defend"
Pawns: *shocked pikachu face*
video idea: analyze your match vs arturo "the great" garcia in baku, azerbaijan
this is one of the best crossovers youtube has ever seen
Effort really appreciated. Can you cover paul morphys games
Hey Levy you are an awesome teacher.
Because of your videos I learned how to attack and I was able to make a 10:0 adoption in rated rapid
Really liked the analysis of the last game. Thanks for deciding to keep it, Levy!
Yay! Gotham and NorthernLion are always a joy to watch together
Very insightful. Thank you.
Loved this video! Very informative - keep it up!
tony stark giving lex luthor a chess lessons 🤣
This by far I think is the best way to teach and learn. Compared to just watching you play. Although watching the games are cool too. I wish you would teach openings reps the same way. Like going over in detail not only the basic opening moves, but the plan or strategy and type of middle game you typically get whenyou play that opening. when your trying to learn or put together an opening rep.
Becauss if you really don't know your style, or how the middle and games you typically get playing that opening, once you have a good fit learning the variations on your own would be easy.once yo know your style or way you like to play.
i think the overall plan and type of mid - end game positions information would be far better information for helping someone find a good opening rep, without first having to play or spend time learning some opening that doesn't fit thir play style. I appreciate the videos thanks Levey.
Hi Levy, just wanted to thank you for making these videos - I've started playing chess again recently (last played as a little kid) and while I'm not good yet (~800) I'm definitely improving thanks to you! I'm gonna keep working on my chess, I'm having a great time so far!
Nice dude, watching these vids really helps
That last game is absolutely nuts

Levy if you could please do a video on how to better see the board while blindfolded that would be greatly appreciated. The video about visualization was great but I still struggle to perfectly picture the board when practicing blindfolded. Much love
Could you teach us the Nimzo-Larsen opening? I saw you played it in example 3 and I wanted to learn some more of the theory as I think of it as a very solid opening and interesting to play with many different ways the game could turn and when to move what.
Love those video thumbnails!💪 Thanks for everything, really helps in those hard time! ❤️
Levy's guest sounds like Howard Stern.
Levy, can you upload a video on positional play?
Okay I can't unsee that thumbnail

I watched the whole episode, so instructive
Hey levy please make a video on the traumpaousky system ♥️♥️♥️♥️( I'm sorry if I spelt it wrong)
The last example is such a weird repetition.
So creative to castle queenside whilst you are attacking white on the queenside!
Hey Levy!! Can you make a video on "How to Checkmate using a bishop and knight and a king"

holy crap. what an informative video. thanks for everything dude
Pls do a video about how you defend
I appreciate the lesson!
Exciting video keep it up
Keep up the 🔥🔥🔥 content Gotham
More Levi +Lion! You guys are fantastically entertaining together
44:33 Levy pronounced the name without any accent, nice.
Damn the last game was crazy
Is there a part 2? I wanted to see how that final game ended :(
In example three 25:08 why not knight to d6. Forces a trade with the inactive knight for either their knight or their dark square bishop. And then move the rook.
These collabs are the best
its 10:26 am (ET), video was posted today and Gotham already has 18K views. Congrats man! and Congrats to the resurgence of chess!
is the lion on the thumbnail a reference to ben fingeold's "rawrrr! attack!"
At 8:45, one idea is,
Knight f6+.
1. If gxf6, then rook takes f6, threatening Qxg6+ followed by a nasty attack.
If black plays knight c to e5, guarding g6, then rook to f7 forking the king and queen.
If black plays queen to g7, then rook to f7 pinning the queen to the king.
2. If black does not take the knight, black only has two moves, Kh6 and Kh8.
If King h8, then rook to h4 is mate.
And if Kh6, then Rh4+, Kg5, then queen d2 checkmate
Levy Idk if u have a video on it or not but can you tell how to tackle Someone who is pawn storming while I'm just developing pieces
Levy do a bullet speedrun
I need this. I am such an aggressive player but usually too a fault where I sac too much material without enough attack and end up just throwing the game. It’s fun but I lose more than I probably should
At 8:31 wouldn't Nf6 be a good move? Because you check the king in hopes of g7xf6, Rxf6? And wouldn't that be a better position to be in? Maybe my brain isn't thinking far enough or taking into consideration a bunch of other options but that's just what I see. Also sorry if I got any of the moves wrong, I'm pretty new and not too familiarized with how they are worded and such
@gothamchess can you make more videos on blindfold chess? I’m currently 930ish but a friend and I made goal for 2021 to play a whole game blindfold
Levy with the immortal thumbnail
Hope to see levy teach someone else as well.
Northern lion? I remember when I used to watch his binding of Isaac videos
This is insane, Free tutorial for intermediate level player. Learn a lot as a 1300 elo.
Levy, can you please do a video on what you think is GM Daniel "The Prophet" Naroditsky's best game? 😊
53:45 Don't wanna make you feel bad levy but i also saw it in two seconds without an engine xD
but we gotta agree that watching a video while relaxed and think from home is way different from fighting a GM in a tournament and being so close to earning a title, i bet your heart was beating with a jackhammer.
I love these crossovers
56:16 what would be so bad about taking his pawn on b2?
cxb2+; Kxb2; Qa3+;
Would there be a way out?
You should do a chess video on Pixar’s short, Geri’s Game!
All your videos are good, but these discussions with Northern Lion are some of the best (maybe because I am about as strong as he is)
Gothamchess what are your favorite opening and endgame chess books?
The thumbnail from the stream keep up the great work
