But the point is that I don't need the additional power of the Amflow PL even climbing rocky technical sections. I'm not convinced the performance improvements are as significant as you claim, at least not for my needs.

Fact is more motor power means faster battery depletion. We are interested to know how efficient it is, and what is the weight limit? Light bikes like this are for guys under 100kg
Clearly Steve’s gushing review tells you all you need to know about how far the goalposts have been moved. Only question I can think of is reliability and service centres for warranty and upkeep. Not putting it down it’s a super impressive bike and motor with the best integration and thought gone into the controls of any ebike on the market. Great job DJI !!
DJI are known for amazing service and warranty, so I wouldn't worry about that. I'm more concerned with how good the frame is as it's a new brand and I've only seen reviewers post about it. Will be good to see how it handles in more extreme scenarios and riding spots.
I just got a new Tern Orox (Bosch gen 4) and I barely use its turbo mode. Yet to load it with heavy cargo to see how it affects motor power, but as much I like the whole thing, I find a few parts quite clunky. The battery and its mount feel like a handmade by a local mechanic 😅 the plastic parts aren't really aligning for a quality product. That Amflow charging port you showed seems quite a bit of step up, it's not just the power to weight ratio of this bike. I'm really really excited for the future of ebikes and I also hope these brands get forced by the EU to align some of their components like chargers and their ports, batteries, etc. There has been enough time for these major brands to mature and become confident and the market seems to be still growing.
Glad to see more e-bike motor competition. Although, I am not sure how I feel about e-bikes developing more and more power as I fail to see the reason, at least for myself. My Yeti 160E at 85nm is insane overkill for me (me at 220lbs kitted up), I spend 90% of my time in a slightly boosted eco mode at just over 40nm saving trail mode (which I reduced to 65nm) for short super steep sections and I never feel the need to use boost. It feels so artificial as the power gets higher and not how I personally want to mountain bike. If I want something with mohr power, there are real dirt bikes for that. But hopefully this all leads to much lighter, more efficient systems that rival the power of what is on my 160E and crush it on range.
Paid Promotion? If so you need to state it! Not doubting the performance of this motor but this is an AD. The motor and system is totally commercially un-proven. This is a showcase not a test. Thrash a year on it and do another video :)

It’s the max power and torque that separate DJI from competition. Weight -wise it’s more like evolution and not revolution: DJI motor (105 Nm) 2.5 kg, EP801 (max 85 Nm): 2.7 kg. Same kind of evolution in battery weight. The low weight of the complete bike is due to Amflow making extremely light frame and using carbon rims etc gaining maximum impact in the media with ”next level” power/weight ratio. This has impact on the bike price. At least I don’t need more power. Lower cost for a lighter bike with 60-85 Nm assist would be welcome
@@petterilaine992 base modelof amflow is about same price or lower than other brands lower powered bikes. For my own usage 60Nm under 20kg bike would fit nicely. Those are just way too expensive. Hopefully prices go down because of this bike.
FINALLY! Been waiting for your vid on this to drop. Looks amazing. Thoughts on timeline for U.S. riders to be able to purchase? Also, I've noticed not just here but one several other ebike vids, why is no one mentioning it has the amazing Sram AXS Eagle Transmission drivetrain?! This was huge news aew months ago, and IMO another big selling point for any eMTB so equipped, especially one with this much chain splitting power...but now it's like everyone is afraid to even mention it's existence on any ebike review??
Looks fantastic, but having to remove the motor to remove the battery is a deal breaker to me, it makes all of the amazing multi battery mountain adventures seen on embn not viable.
I’m in HK and there’s one in my local bike shop. Lovely looking thing and this review has not helped 😂 I wondered about the dji connection but when you think about it - their entire business is making batteries and motors as small, light and efficient as possible so it actually makes total sense that they’d have been doing this quietly in their skunkworks.
As annoying as it can occasionally be on road or real smooth flats, i'm amazed how little i care about the cutoff on my bosch bike... Downhill speed is all gravity, and uphill 15mph is pretty dam quick.
These are the problems for me: In the end of 2018 (6 years !!) came the Levo S-works with 90nm motor, 700wh battery, 20kg in tubeless setup, so no quantum leap for me with the Amflow. I never want to use the turbo mode when i ride in the hills, because it draws the battery very fast, so i go up slow in eco or trail mode, i do not want to wheelie up the hill. It's like with 700bhp electric cars, you have fun once or twice with the acceleration, but for daily driving you are using like 30-50bhp... Back to the weight: it has carbon rims, EXO and EXO+ tires and other lightweight parts. For a bike the only different to other ebikes are the motor-battery-frame. You can not change these things. And these are lighter like 1-2 kilos to other carbon high power bike, so not that much. But i really like the real fast charger.
You are lying 😅 The 2018 Levo S-Works had 504Wh battery and 21.05 kg. The current model has 700Wh battery and 22.5kg. And you are missing a lot of details on the DJI which are a big deal.
@@dit4963 I wrote in the end of 2018, that was the Levo Gen2. You are writing about the Gen1 and Gen3 Levo. Yes it is a very good overall package, but apart from the very fast charge, i can not see any groundbreaking thing.
@@neszoljalbe Still I find no evidence for getting it to 20kg. 21kg more realistic. Regarding other features: GPS & LTE (and all features coming with that), USB-C PD65W power output, very silent motor up & down, great display, integration and ergonomics... This might seem small things, and mindblowing they are not already on every system... Overall this system is 3-4 years ahead of anything currently on the market. In a high competitive market, that is "groundbreaking" (I hate such terms, but...)
@@dit4963 I am not against this bike/system, but in this "test" it is said that 'very much a revolutionary product'. Yes it is a bit lighter, a bit more powerful, a bit larger display, gps/lte (has the Bosch Connectmodule too). For me the Pinion MGU is more of a revolution with all its flaws (more weight, noisy). This video hipes the bike too much. In other videos it is said, that the motor can rattle, and in high power mode it has whining noise (but not as much as Bosch or Shimano). And the real weight in size L with 800wh battery is 20,6 kg. But the biggest question is the warranty support. Lets face it, everything can break down and will break down.
Sounds good from the review. I see the light weight eMTB almost merging with full size with this bike. The problem is since its announcement we still don't know the price point - will this be something that only those with deep pockets can afford? will the boost mode be neutered in some markets (like here in Australia where we seem not to be trusted with out own common sense)
The Amflow PL Carbon Pro comes in at a jaw-dropping £8,999/ AU$13,999 (approx. $11,742), while the base model, the Amflow PL Carbon, will set you back £6,999/ AU$9,399 (approx. $9,134)
Wow, such a beautyfull bike, such a great motor ! Steve, you didn't talk about the résistance of the motor. Is it much friction when passing over the limite of the assist ??
If being fastest up the hill was so important, then we'd all currently be riding Rocky Mountain ebikes. Yet RM isn't a particularly big player. So even though DJI has a well-earned reputation, I think it's going to take some considerable time for their motor to become established - unless perhaps they can partner with an established bike brand.
I am riding a RM, it’s great… But honestly, most emtb’s are amazing these days. Given an hour or so to set any bike up for my preferences I think I’d enjoy any bike just as much.
Thank you for the video. Impressive ebike however I have one question, how about transmission durability with this power? With my 500w motor it's already difficult to ride more than 1000km before it needs to be changed so I'm really wondering how long it will last with the DJI motor.
I have a nukeproof megawatt and I haven't found a climb I can't do yet and my motor powers me up climbs, it all goes on how hard you can pedal the motor and your fitness, I'd love to challenge them strava times, as for technical uphill I've been looking for something to compete in in the uk. Is there any races going?
Can you compare the downhill performance from the GasGas ECC with the new AMFlow bike? Currently I am riding the Turbo Levo and thinking about the GasGas or the AMFlow. Downhill handling is more important than motor power for my riding.
Auto mode sounds interesting, but I'd be interested in the battery life on this (and on lower settings). It looks great fun, but not sure its entirely for me, its verging on a completely different activity.
Dji did it again! As in the uav business they blew out the rest of the brands, from the toy 'till the pro models. The charger shows it, compare it to the clonky nonsense blocks ( Bosch, eFit), no straight out wires and a well placed conn on the bike. If they get rid of the chain/deraillr, i sell my Rapcon/pinion.
Available when? Available ever in the US? I have a feeling this will be a vapor-ware bike for a few years. I am buying a new ebike in the spring. I do not think I will bother to put this on the possibilities list. I would love to have it but I am 71 and do not have the years left to wait for these to be available to actual riders. (As opposed to reviewers.) The 2025 Norco Sight VLT will be available in the US and will be on the floor of my LBS.
It takes a whole 2 seconds to Google that ... "The maximum load capacity is 125 kg, which includes the rider's weight, any additional items being carried, and the weight of equipment mounted onto the frame."
Was thinking the same! The hype is only, and only for the dji! The zf motor must be also worth a shot... Hope we get to see more of that one as well....only time will tell!

I think by the time they get one in the usa other companies will catch up to it. Looks pretty sweet.
Fact is more motor power means faster battery depletion. We are interested to know how efficient it is, and what is the weight limit? Light bikes like this are for guys under 100kg
Amflow web claims 125kg weight limit, which is equivalent to levo for example, although it is heavier bike a little ( by 5 lbs or so)
Shows how much big brand bikes been dragging their feet and charging top dollar for it
Clearly Steve’s gushing review tells you all you need to know about how far the goalposts have been moved.
@@ChrisWilmshurst True as this is it’s still unchanged territory for an emtb. The service network is for drones and cameras. An EMtb is different
If you look on the website and click test ride you.can see that a fair few bricks and mortar bike shops are onboard.already.
The thing is it's a good-looking bike as well , i want one
Probably an unwelcome comment but would love this motor in a touring hybrid bike .
Is there any rattle from the motor on the downhills? Any rattle at all? Cracking video as usual, cheers!
Check out Sam's bikes review for a noise test
Very cool bike with impressive performance. But you have to think all that power must put a lot of stress on the motor. How long would it last?
Paid Promotion? If so you need to state it! Not doubting the performance of this motor but this is an AD. The motor and system is totally commercially un-proven. This is a showcase not a test. Thrash a year on it and do another video :)
This.
True. After my experience with EP 8, I will never buy a bike with a new motor on the market
Haha, Steve was right! The competition is shaking in their boots! This bike redefines e-bikes and a lot of people in the bike industry suddenly have a lot of inventory that is simply outdated.
Exactly! Bump bump to this comment! DJI needs to move to something else incase all their drones get banned here in the US.
Bosch still takes my money. Anything more and i will buy an electric motorcycle.
TOP TOP TOP ❤❤❤❤nice product - we as the DREAMBIKE team are in Race EMTB branch from 2014/5 and from the first wiev we are sure that this is new Era of EMTB with this bike - more proffesional setting new industrial measures. Thanks !
But we need also the Drone instaled on this bike 😂😂😂❤❤❤!!!
They should have used Linkglide. The only thing better would be a gear box and a belt.
Looks fantastic, but having to remove the motor to remove the battery is a deal breaker to me, it makes all of the amazing multi battery mountain adventures seen on embn not viable.
If they make an alu version I'm sold
Steve ,I want one now 🤘
The issue is that its quite delicate. I would like to see the enduro version
Great vid! Might have missed it but can you ride through the limiter like a Ride60 or is it more like an EP8?
@@emotioneering That’s what I want to know also. No good accelerating to 25 kmh or 32 kmh in record time if the bike then pedals like you are in tar.
I’m in HK and there’s one in my local bike shop. Lovely looking thing and this review has not helped 😂
I wondered about the dji connection but when you think about it - their entire business is making batteries and motors as small, light and efficient as possible so it actually makes total sense that they’d have been doing this quietly in their skunkworks.
Got this one on my watchlist, really hot stuff
Have you got a spare 12k then ?
Is that how much they are ? ..looks like the wife’s car going on ebey
@@robpel1 £5,999 to £8,999 UK prices and about £500 cheaper in EU
This is what the e bike fitted is! Light weight full power and 700w+battery! I may have to get one!
Looks awesome. Seriously.
So in the UK, you can get to the cut off in two cranks instead of three. The elephant in the room never goes away.
hopefully easy to unlock the speed limit lol
As annoying as it can occasionally be on road or real smooth flats, i'm amazed how little i care about the cutoff on my bosch bike... Downhill speed is all gravity, and uphill 15mph is pretty dam quick.
Depending on the trails you ride ,I find the extra power useful for bigger gaps at speed or out of corners, 25 kph is too slow at my trails anyways.
@@djm8027 i can't lie, i'd still like it to be higher - if for nothing other than bits on road.
@@yyams false
I am definitely on board with this. But What about the back up service?
The weight for a full power bike is the stand out!
It has fox 36 lol
The fox 36 is a great for for trial use 👍
Man... definitely looks cool. Curious to find out about US availability and pricing.
I'm dying to try the hill start assist mode. I will buy this sight unseen to moment it's available
@@neszoljalbe Biggest waiting points for me are: reliability, waterproofness (I find no IP rating...) and a proper enduro bike (>170mm, 63° HA...)
It's actually £5999 for the base in the UK
Wow, such a beautyfull bike, such a great motor !
Steve, you didn't talk about the résistance of the motor. Is it much friction when passing over the limite of the assist ??
I like the built in security and gps... Is this still considered Class 1 emtb? Great bike, love it, availability?
If being fastest up the hill was so important, then we'd all currently be riding Rocky Mountain ebikes. Yet RM isn't a particularly big player. So even though DJI has a well-earned reputation, I think it's going to take some considerable time for their motor to become established - unless perhaps they can partner with an established bike brand.
I am riding a RM, it’s great… But honestly, most emtb’s are amazing these days. Given an hour or so to set any bike up for my preferences I think I’d enjoy any bike just as much.
I do wonder how it’ll cope with UK winter 😅 I’ll check the reviews again in the the spring 2025 😂
If i had the cash id be ordering one
To drive the point through to Amflow if they are monitoring this, an enduro with more travel is needed.
Thank you for the video.
Impressive ebike however I have one question, how about transmission durability with this power? With my 500w motor it's already difficult to ride more than 1000km before it needs to be changed so I'm really wondering how long it will last with the DJI motor.
Bloody hell Steve, your style is class 👌 such a show stopper. I love it.
Already got my order in 💪🏻

Giving me Lahar M9 vibes, I want.
Brilliant just wow 👍
I have a nukeproof megawatt and I haven't found a climb I can't do yet and my motor powers me up climbs, it all goes on how hard you can pedal the motor and your fitness, I'd love to challenge them strava times, as for technical uphill I've been looking for something to compete in in the uk. Is there any races going?
U cant wait for Trek using dji motor. I would love to have Trek slash with the power of this motor.
Nice Ad.
Beside this avinox firmware, you should show us the rest of the competition how do they looks as well
No removable battery? No deal…..frozen weather riders require this feature
I have watched 3 reviews and no one points out 2 important things. How water proof is the system? where is the bash guard?
I think the battery and display is certified water proof.
They mentioned it early on when they first talked about it.
im keeping an eye on the zf drive unite if im honest it really takes my biscuit lol
Is the motor waterproof yet?
How is the sizing compared to other bikes? does it run smaller or larger than average?
What about service support set up? All motors need to be replaced regardless of brand in the UK
When does it go on sale in the US?
Available when? Available ever in the US? I have a feeling this will be a vapor-ware bike for a few years. I am buying a new ebike in the spring. I do not think I will bother to put this on the possibilities list. I would love to have it but I am 71 and do not have the years left to wait for these to be available to actual riders. (As opposed to reviewers.) The 2025 Norco Sight VLT will be available in the US and will be on the floor of my LBS.
Great Bike. But what is the max systemweight of this bike? I´m on the heavier side and need a bike with a liitle bit more capacity--- ;-)
This is why I have a Turbo Levo because I’m slightly hefty 😂
It takes a whole 2 seconds to Google that ... "The maximum load capacity is 125 kg, which includes the rider's weight, any additional items being carried, and the weight of equipment mounted onto the frame."
How does it compare to the new ZF motor system?
Was thinking the same! The hype is only, and only for the dji! The zf motor must be also worth a shot...
Hope we get to see more of that one as well....only time will tell!
Are any other brands going to use the DJI motor, or is it an AmFlow exclusive?
When is it available?
