cannot talk about a dji but I rented a bosch gen4 to know what I wanted or not on an emtb before buying one, 22miles 5813ft 36km 1772m D+ rolling time 3h55 according to strava had 25% of a 750wh battery left mostly on gravel dirt road the toughest part on grass off trail I basically went up ski slopes in autumn in the swiss alps I used eco 0-10% slope tour 10-20% slopes emtb 20% or more and never used turbo if it was too steep for emtb I pushed using walk assist my toughts at the end of the day were that I would not buy a bike you cannot tune the modes to your usage, eco helped slightly not enough (just did 3280ft 1000m on muscular it felt to me it didn't quite compensate the bike weight but it was a heavy alu bike 26kgs) tour helped way too much it tried to go too fast while I was pedaling at my usual cadence oversensitive acceleration pickup which drained the battery for no reason, emtb was fine but already started slipping 1-2x even with a 2.6" 27.5 tire (mullet bike) with massive knobs "more power" is absolutely not something I wanted as I had tire slip going up slopes I was hugging the bike not to flip backwards what annoyed me was the walk assist was trying to go too fast for me pushing up a 100% slope something Bosch tweaked in the 2025 motor fyi
Seriously the rocky mountain is not far away from this and gives me this power all the time and im also amazed by its power. Im very fit rider and i use the bike only on rest days in highest power level and i ride up the mountain faster than what you showed me here. So not sure whats the fuzz about here.😊
Was the flex in hard compressions noticiable compared to say a 140-150mm non motorised trail bike e.g. norco sight, trek fuel ex? Or is it flexy compared to a bigger 160-170mm enduro bike? Hard question to answer I know, I'm just thinking is the super light weight frame to blame? As a 220-230pound dude it's the only question mark I've got stopping me from pulling the trigger! Also subscribed, apprecaited the free content and no sweat off my back to hit a button
Thanks so much for joining we appreciate it. As far as flex goes, compared to a Norco Sight, specifically the new high pivot one, in carbon, it may be a little more flexy. AMFLOW is close but slightly less stiff.
I’ll wait for version 3 to come out- in 12 years I’ll be 60. Maybe a new motor, solid state battery, belt drive and transmission. For now still using my legs to get uphill. 🇨🇦
26 днів тому+2
If you fall on a emtb at 60, you are more prone to bone braking and never coming back due to slower recovery pal, the future is now, so is the fun
Unlike bosch and shimano it has an encoder ring like an abs ring for motorcycles for speed detection, so im pretty sure you will get aftermarket rings with fewer trigger points to trick the bike into thinking that you are actually going slower than you are. Not that i would advise it, but it would be easily doable. The electric transmission doesn't communicate with the bike anyway, so it has no idea in what gear it is, so it couldn't check for plausible results
I wish you tested it in a manner that represents actual use when timing the climb. My climbs are usually 30 minutes and sometimes a couple of hours on bigger mountains so it's unrealistic to think that I'll be pressing and holding the boost button every 30 seconds and that also detracts from the experience. When I'm in the middle of a technical section of the climb, I can't divert my attention to holding the boost button when boost cuts out as I'll be modulating my brakes instead. Unless you're focusing on marketing, any performance tests should be done in a manner that represents realistic riding.
When we publish a long term review of the bike we will have those types of stats. This is more of a first look, informational and product focused feature, not a review. We test bikes for several months before we release those but wanted to get this out as we’ve been getting tons of questions.
Best review for the Amflow so far well done 😁. I agree with one of the comments about how does it compare for miles/watt hour at the same Nm/power output. This metric would be super useful for you guys to start to quote. The Nm/power output would need to be made the same, as far as possible, between the different motors, and tests would need to be done on the same trails by same rider using the same tyres for all motors, as this would unify the tests as far as possible. From what I have seen this bike is a battery drainer, which TBF is to be expected with the higher motor output. Thats why I would like to see this tested with restricted motor output, to properly compare with Bosch and Brose, to see if it can be as efficient as those motors.
@@malanalan1 Not entirely correct. An advert would not include any negative comments about the bike. This channel is pretty honest in making their own opinions heard.
All well and good but the UK (and others) restrict speed on ebikes unfortunately. It's a huge shame, just 10mph more would make such a difference coming up to bigger jumps

Just make sure not to increase the travel because Amflow doesn't allow it, warranty issues. That is why most of us riding enduro bikes, wait for a burlier version of the bike
Amflow do allow an increase to 170mm on the fork...not sure how you would increase rear travel with it being a 185x55 trunnion shock...I have just gone for a better quality rear shock in the same size ;-) Oh, and it will be a Mullet!

GX axs electric. The non pro has a manual GX. Unfortunately the electric one isn't powered by the bikes battery, so you have to have an eye on the battery level on the transmission or have a spare one with you. Sram would offer cables to replace the battery on ebikes, although thats a 150 euro cable and you need to drop the motor out of the frame for installation
I know you can’t divulge what you don’t know but…I know for myself I follow this channel to get relevant information for the US consumer. Even some speculation or insight into when this may be available here would be appreciated.
Absolutely great point. This is why we try our best to mention in our reviews that different people have different tastes! Just like food, your local trails, desire and preferences can mean one bike works for you and another just wont! Flex isn't always bad.
We did ride it with those tires briefly for early riding and filming. However we replaced it with our official test tire for the EBike Light shootout, so we had an equal test tire for all bikes.
like another reply I made I cannot speak for DJI but if it's of any use to someone on bosch gen 4 I tested 2-3 weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised I rented older emtb before and you hit a wall at 25kph on the gen4 bosch CX I felt nothing I only realized I was limited when I tried to pedal faster on a somewhat flat segment and had this weird feeling that my effort brought nothing more it's then that I watched the display and was "oh...right"
As an avid emtber, I would have liked to have seen a mullet option from the factory or at least listed on the build my bike on amflow, however I'll wait for the second iteration.
They are not serious about making bikes. This is just simply to display their drive unit. I got $1000 to anybody who wants to take my bet. We will start seeing these units on other manufactures bikes. They of course will still sell a bike, but that is not their primary goal. Put this drive unit on a pivot or Yeti and I’m in.
Numbers look great, two questions, when will American's be able to order one? And, assuming this will be limited to 20 mph in America, it's like putting a 65 mph speed limit on a Tesla plaid. I'm guessing this bike hits the limit real quick, how does it feels when it cuts off power at the limit?
You can set the fade out in the app. EU models start to reduce power at around 22km/h with default settings, you can also set a hard cut off if wanted or a long smooth fade

Only problem I have is that a lot of jurisdictions in Colorado have limited the legality of bikes to 750 watts of output. Get caught with that and if they know what they are looking at I'm getting fined.
This motor comes in 600w and 800w variants. Just looking now on the sales page inside China. Also, the 800w version, as a full build bike, comes in standard/Pro models. Be interesting to see the exact differences regarding max power delivery for local jurisdictions
@@growlith6969 that's way, way too much. Given where these things are produced, and changing local jurisdiction rules, Banfamg/DJI need to revisit what they're producing. Customs for various local jurisdictions are just going to stop these things being imported, period!
My only dislike is the trunion....Otherwise I think this would be great for Cold Springs/Tunnel self shuttles, maybe 2x in one day? @TheLoamWolf knows these trails
I was initially enthusiastic about this engine, but with Bosch I ride in Tour+ mode most of the time anyway and don't feel the need for more power. I'm also afraid that such high power will simply eat up the cassette and drive. We'll see in the long run - I'm waiting for the test.
So don’t put this in the max output mode or reduced the max torque on the middle profile if you want and you’ll get more range and still have a lighter battery than Bosch and get all the great charging technology. I’m failing to see any downside to this platform and I’m betting just as all the manufacturers have jumped onto Bosch this year we will be seeing a bunch jump over to DJI in 2-4 years once DJI is selling the platform and it’s the next model cycle for manufacturers.

There are articles around that legislation aimed at DJI as a Chinese company is a problem - they will need FCC approval due to over the air tech. I doubt this will be settled until after November Then you need say 10,000 units available for stock to launch - US is such a huge market. The legislation passed on the House is potentially a big problem for DJI generally is what I read

Are we going to get a motor versus motor test/review type video? I understand we're trying to review this one bike in nearly a vacuum here but... Awkwardly I think people are most interested in DJI vs new Bosch. As well as versus all other motors technically. And as an anti-bells n whistles guy this motor is almost pushing me away with the screen and app overreach (especially saying you need to update during the review lol). So def want to compare the physical motor vs motor. Not so much apps/settings comparison.
Yes more of that to come as we have time and ability to do so. Those tests are pretty time consuming and we’ve got a small crew, so bear with us. Haha. Thanks for your support.
Class 1 ebikes in North America is max 750watts. Probably why they are not selling in North America. Can't ride this at most of the trail systems around me
Shimano & bosch listened only their race team what they need on the bike , but not listen to comsumers what we need. users needs much better software integration like battery layout in percentage or 10 complete dash lines, DJI nailed every aspect.
Love the video love the channel. This is not a jab at the channel. But this has kind of been done before in terms of power. Nobody ever talks about it because it’s not a big sexy brand. Not a single name brand E bike has been able to keep up with it. I wish that Luna cycle would get more loveagainst some of the name brands. Plus the price of power ratio from Luna cycle is incredible.
Yeah I think the main reason Bosch & co are at 600W is just to stay within the "250W nominal" regulations, whatever that means. They could make more powerful motors if they wanted
Thanks for commenting. We have reached out to Luna cycles several times, they only respond with “we don’t do media test bikes.” We’re glad to hear you love the bike though.
Cassettes and chains will need to be changed regularly with this power. I prefer the Pinion MGU. Little less power but German engineering over Chinese for me wins. All the geeky stuff is nice in the beginning but will fade away quickly.
I wonder how difficult it will be to get in the US. This is a Chinese made and designed bike that can track your movements so there may be a lot of issues there.
7 seconds faster on 26 seconds long ride with othe full power bike....That is just crazy faster. That means, that someone on the regular full power bike, on cca. 45 minutes uphill ride, would be cca.13-15 minutes slower....OMG. cannot talk about a dji but I rented a bosch gen4 to know what I wanted or not on an emtb before buying one, 22miles 5813ft 36km 1772m D+ rolling time 3h55 according to strava had 25% of a 750wh battery left mostly on gravel dirt road the toughest part on grass off trail I basically went up ski slopes in autumn in the swiss alps I used eco 0-10% slope tour 10-20% slopes emtb 20% or more and never used turbo if it was too steep for emtb I pushed using walk assist my toughts at the end of the day were that I would not buy a bike you cannot tune the modes to your usage, eco helped slightly not enough (just did 3280ft 1000m on muscular it felt to me it didn't quite compensate the bike weight but it was a heavy alu bike 26kgs) tour helped way too much it tried to go too fast while I was pedaling at my usual cadence oversensitive acceleration pickup which drained the battery for no reason, emtb was fine but already started slipping 1-2x even with a 2.6" 27.5 tire (mullet bike) with massive knobs "more power" is absolutely not something I wanted as I had tire slip going up slopes I was hugging the bike not to flip backwards what annoyed me was the walk assist was trying to go too fast for me pushing up a 100% slope something Bosch tweaked in the 2025 motor fyi
Hoping for a Nicolai review
Can you please provide a link to the replacement bars you have used with the Amflow?
theloamwolf.com/2023/11/13/review-oneup-carbon-e-bar/
Flexy frame, trunnion mount shock and a yoke, this thing is going to destroy damper shafts.
What trail are you doing this test on? Is this in Bend, OR?
If this bikes comes in anywhere close to $5K this thing will sell like hot cakes.
Seriously the rocky mountain is not far away from this and gives me this power all the time and im also amazed by its power. Im very fit rider and i use the bike only on rest days in highest power level and i ride up the mountain faster than what you showed me here. So not sure whats the fuzz about here.😊
Rocky power is definitely awesome and we’re fans.
Would love to see the DJI @ 105nm Turbo mode (not Boost) vs the Bosch Race motor (in race mode).
Stay tuned!
Do you think frame and rear shock will just be available for purchase?
Any idea when this will be available in the US?
If you fall on a emtb at 60, you are more prone to bone braking and never coming back due to slower recovery pal, the future is now, so is the fun
I would like to see this drive unit in a gearbox - time has come to get rid of the derailleur…
Speed limit should be allowed to be removed, for all of us that ride private land.
That's more important than power by itself
Yep, I bet this hits in real fast...
Any word on when this might be available in the US?
When is it coming to the US?
I wish you tested it in a manner that represents actual use when timing the climb. My climbs are usually 30 minutes and sometimes a couple of hours on bigger mountains so it's unrealistic to think that I'll be pressing and holding the boost button every 30 seconds and that also detracts from the experience. When I'm in the middle of a technical section of the climb, I can't divert my attention to holding the boost button when boost cuts out as I'll be modulating my brakes instead.
Unless you're focusing on marketing, any performance tests should be done in a manner that represents realistic riding.
practice multitasking and you will get it bud
This was made pretty early on in our riding. We will have a long term coming out very soon with more thorough data.
Not a review. This is DJI commercial.
I have one of these on order and am waiting for delivery...I have gone for the cheaper model but will be changing wheels, tyres, suspension, bar&stem! I am really interested to see what you think of how the bike rides on your 'full review' as I think that you guys always give your honest opinion rather than follow the hype!
Thank you! We make it a priority and always let the brands know our first goal is to be honest and help the viewers. That said, opinions and tastes are different for all riders, but we think you’ll enjoy then detailed review.
@@DaveWarrington I emailed them and they replied, no 170 fork compatibility...hope they come up with a longer travel version which is very possible
They actually say on the Amflow website that a 170mm fork is possible! Look in the FAQ's 🤔
Those trails look awesome. Where is that?
Thank you. It’s Bend Oregon.
Generally speaking ;)
Hopefully the motor lasts pong apparently they are having motor production problems and haulted just now and very limited to use for warranty replacements! Lots leaks coming out of china just now wouldn't say it was future proof yet so its made me put the brakes on just now atleast till January see hoe they ick up!
They need to make that with a removable battery, it will be spot on then
Can you match up this bike with your favorite pivot Lt?
When available in U.S.? Price? Sorry if I missed this in your video.
TBD. Amflow was originally saying Q4 of this year, but has been delayed until early 2025...hopefully. Pricing for this model will likely be around the $10k mark.
@@TheLoamWolf Thanks. Pricey. Think I could trade my Specialized Levo, Trek Fuel exe and Specialized Vado for one? 🤣 Ya, I didn't think so...
For the Chinese haters out there, don't buy this bike. Dji is a Chinese brand and made in China.
For others, buy one quick before the government ban all Dji products or put tariffs on Chinese products.
My dji drone has constant software updates/ issues..hopefully the the motor/batterys are better
Yo! Where’s the trail at 10:37? Thanks
Does the battery keep going flatter and flatter over time ? The drone batteries go dead flat when they sit
Excellent point.
My dji drone batteries all have serious parasitic drain.
Same for me: the drone batteries drain quickly if you do not use it. And I suppose DJI use the same technology for their bikes. This will be a good point for your review…
looks like post insertion depth might be an issue.....how long a post were you using?
looks actually great I'm guessing a 200mm or a 180mm it can start from the frame I wish mine could but I can only get a 180mm and have to make it start 60mm above frame (I wanted a smaller M so that was expected)
No mention of the drivetrain... This has Sram Eagle Transmission, correct?
GX axs electric. The non pro has a manual GX. Unfortunately the electric one isn't powered by the bikes battery, so you have to have an eye on the battery level on the transmission or have a spare one with you. Sram would offer cables to replace the battery on ebikes, although thats a 150 euro cable and you need to drop the motor out of the frame for installation
I know you can’t divulge what you don’t know but…I know for myself I follow this channel to get relevant information for the US consumer. Even some speculation or insight into when this may be available here would be appreciated.
We can’t officially say, but we do know there are working hard and had hopes for mid 2025. So, time will tell.
saw one in whistler a few weeks ago, cant be that far away
@@rocky6162tell that to Uncle Sam that has a beef with DJI. I wouldn’t expect it anytime soon.
Cost?
@@rocky6162 pretty sure that was Will Greenfield. Another content creator who received the bike for free.
I like my 2019 Levo BECAUSE it’s flexy. I wish specialized could integrate this drive unit in their bikes.
Absolutely great point. This is why we try our best to mention in our reviews that different people have different tastes! Just like food, your local trails, desire and preferences can mean one bike works for you and another just wont! Flex isn't always bad.
Is there Rail+ review comming plz?
Were you riding it with the stock/light casings? Specs say EXO front and EXO+ rear...
We did ride it with those tires briefly for early riding and filming. However we replaced it with our official test tire for the EBike Light shootout, so we had an equal test tire for all bikes.
@@TheLoamWolf , splitting hairs here on weight but was 46.5 lbs with stock tyres and no pedals for a size L?
Didn’t leave me wanting to pull the trigger at all, especially as an over 2 bills rider.
At almost $12,000.00 it better be good!
But how much pedalling drag when pedalling above assistance speed.
like another reply I made I cannot speak for DJI but if it's of any use to someone on bosch gen 4 I tested 2-3 weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised I rented older emtb before and you hit a wall at 25kph on the gen4 bosch CX I felt nothing I only realized I was limited when I tried to pedal faster on a somewhat flat segment and had this weird feeling that my effort brought nothing more it's then that I watched the display and was "oh...right"
Where to buy and guarantee for the long term review
How Come the Septics got a demo?
As an avid emtber, I would have liked to have seen a mullet option from the factory or at least listed on the build my bike on amflow, however I'll wait for the second iteration.
And as I am sure you know... @theloamwolf AMFLOW backwards is Your Mom.... well WolfMa
Ha ha ha
They are not serious about making bikes. This is just simply to display their drive unit. I got $1000 to anybody who wants to take my bet. We will start seeing these units on other manufactures bikes. They of course will still sell a bike, but that is not their primary goal. Put this drive unit on a pivot or Yeti and I’m in.
The CCP will love using your data just like they got caught doing with their drones…
Makes sense, man!
Ok Sherlock 😂😂😂
I take your 1000 usd
In the meantime i will grab one. Will be two+ years until we see this in another manufacturer. It’s basically a Levo SL with grunt for now.
For the Chinese haters out there, don't buy this bike. Dji is a Chinese brand and made in China.
For others, buy one quick before the government ban all Dji products or put tariffs on Chinese products.
I don’t care about the 105 to 120nm of torque, 50-60nm is more than enough, what I am impressed by is the 800wh battery and overall lightness
The most important question, when they think sales going to be starting at the USA?
Probably never
No plan in USA rightnow but you can still have it
@@BumbleDrone1 how, buying in germany?
@@porroco no,but i can do it
Did I miss it? How much?
Pricing in the US has not been finalized. But it will be comparable to other bikes with similar builds we’ve been told.
Was your bike limited at 25 kph or 20 mph? The difference is around 7 kph… it is huge!
According to local laws, everything else would be silly, so 25km/h for the EU and 20mph for north America.
This makes all other EMTB's and especially SL versions look a bit........... meh! I'd definitely consider trading my Giant Reign in for one.
I dunno, a 37-38lb SL feels quite special on the trail (identical to a regular mtb)
@@mtbmike9866 Yes, but the AMFLOW has similar SL weight but with the bonus of a large capacity battery AND very powerful motor. All the benefits, none of the draw backs. 🙌
@TCK71- "Looks" being the operative word here . if you can't buy one it remains in the illusory world of hype and ",looks" .
How much time went into matching the gear color to the bike frame and color grading in post-edit? 😅 😁
All black everything. 😂
@@user-rl4ji5ne4o peak output is 1000w on the 30 second turbo button thing. Fudging by 50 watts would possibly be forgiven but not 250w over.
@@growlith6969 that's way, way too much. Given where these things are produced, and changing local jurisdiction rules, Banfamg/DJI need to revisit what they're producing. Customs for various local jurisdictions are just going to stop these things being imported, period!
It is rated as a 250 watt class 1 ebike. Relax no one is going to jail.
Is there a speed restriction on this bike?
Of course
Is it trail bike, or Enduro? Or in the middle?
We’d say it’s an aggressive trail to all

I was initially enthusiastic about this engine, but with Bosch I ride in Tour+ mode most of the time anyway and don't feel the need for more power. I'm also afraid that such high power will simply eat up the cassette and drive. We'll see in the long run - I'm waiting for the test.
Same. Cassette wears out on STD mode as it is.
@@jessehill3780 Yep, or upgrade the components down the line. You know - the thing literally all MTB'ers do ... because the important part is the motor, battery & frame. Being worried about the motor with this particular bike is a weird thing to have cold feet on @michalmalanowicz759

I emailed Amflow and they said they don’t ship to the US and it won’t be available in any retail stores in the US. Does anyone know if anyone in the US will be able to buy one and when?
Probably never. US govt is at odds with DJI at the moment.
Pointless. Look at our bike but we don’t ship to your country and there no word on why or when…
Stupid.. Look at our bike but we don’t ship to your country and won’t tell you why or if we ever will.. Buy a Crestline instead and support Aaron Gwin!
Government will not allow it. Not with 1K watts of output power.
There are articles around that legislation aimed at DJI as a Chinese company is a problem - they will need FCC approval due to over the air tech. I doubt this will be settled until after November
Then you need say 10,000 units available for stock to launch - US is such a huge market.
The legislation passed on the House is potentially a big problem for DJI generally is what I read
NGL, imho it’s hard to get excited for frames that use a basic single pivot design. It’s the 21st century and so much innovative designs can be licensed, or - developed.
Can't ride this at most of the trail systems around me
I think its sold as a 250W ebike in the EU. Dont ask me how that workks
Also US govt is at odds with DJI. I wouldn’t expect the bike coming to the US anytime soon.
Shimano & bosch listened only their race team what they need on the bike , but not listen to comsumers what we need. users needs much better software integration like battery layout in percentage or 10 complete dash lines, DJI nailed every aspect.
For God's sake i wish they'd answer my emails to ket me know when they are releasing in Canada or anywhere in North America
Love the video love the channel. This is not a jab at the channel. But this has kind of been done before in terms of power. Nobody ever talks about it because it’s not a big sexy brand. But the Luna cycle X - one and X - two. Have been making high-powered EMTB for years now. My X one is 2000 W peak power. With 125 Newton meters.
We have reached out to Luna cycles several times, they only respond with “we don’t do media test bikes.”

One thing no one ever mentions with this motor if it is 250w continuous all you hear is 800w to 1000w which puts it in the illegal ebike category for Europe! This needs to be mentioned in videos about it still being legal 250w requirements even the buying huide doesn't state anywhere about it being 250w mid drive!
