Just a heads up, before you start unplugging stuff, you should turn the ignition to off. You don't want power going to those wires when you go to plug the new one in. Could fry it/fuse
How did you get your 04 one to work in your 07?? I tried swapping mine and the stupid thing needed to be unlocked by the dealer who said they would "try" but couldn't guarantee it would work and would charge me $180 either way 😒
I was wondering why he had the car on. Especially when he said if you disconnect the airbag plug from the trim with the battery on can send false signals
IS IT TRUE IF YOU DON T LET A STERO SHOP REMOVE THIS RADIO THE CAR WON T CRANK DUE TO THE KEY CODE? I HAVE A 2005 MY STERO THE FM WENT OUT AND THE AM IS BARELY PLAYING.IT ONLY PLAYS THE C D PLAYER.
it is because the radio in this car is part of the brain of the system. The message center is controlled by the radio so you can not just take the radio out and leave everything disconnected. You need an adapter to close the circuits if you do not reinstalling an aftermarket radio and you need a different adapter if you do installing an aftermarket radio.
Why leave the key on? Aren't you afraid of burning up the points? (Sorry, couldn't resist...bad joke) Seriously, you make it look so easy. Didn't even speed up the film, and you still did it in less than 5 mins. Thanks. Are you guys still in business?
what was that 2nd plug you pulled? U said it was for the steering wheel controls or something. I was gonna splice a new stereo into my daughters grand prix, but now I see that plug and im a bit confused. maybe I should try to find a plug to fit into the original car plug....because i dont want to just leave that unplugged, the new stereo doesnt have wires for that steering wheel controls
It's for a steering wheel controls. Don't worry about it unless you actually want them to work. If you do look up a PAC steering wheel control interface. It's a little blue box with some wires on it. They're not too expensive. I had a 98 Bonneville and it had steering wheel controls on it and I just left the plug unplugged and everything worked but my controls. You can also buy some radios off Crutchfield that offer a plug for the steering wheel controls. But otherwise you'll be alright with a 70 dollar Kenwood. @bradmartin
@Barry Shaw I've also put 3-4 different stereos in this car since then and different subwoofer setups. It's 2020, we have cellphones to tell us the date. The DIC is useless besides mileage. My odo still works and same with my warning lights. Low washer fluid etc. 230k and still going strong
Concise, well shot, well titled, and good explanation. Thanks for making this!
Just bought a 2008 Grand Prix, only issue with it was one of the bulbs on the stereo was dead. Thank you very much!
You pull the gear stick back because it is in the way when pulling off the trim

Great narration, and video. Precise, and clear. Thank you. I'll be contacting your site.
Super helpful. I'm replacing my 07 Grand Prix radio with the radio from my 04 Grand Prix because the 07 doesn't have a tape player 🙄
Can't let those Madonna cassettes go?
@@EaglesWind1 🤣🤣

Cool, I was a bit scared to disconnect the radio since it has that red anti theft light on it, I was worried it would shut down the car.
Very professional and detailed. Thank you. Great video
Excellent video. Your step by step was perfect
Thank you very much for posting
Why do you have to have the key on and shift to a lower gear with the parking brake on to remove the stereo
The shifter gets in the way if you have it forward. The key is required in order to move the shifter.
where is the auxiliary port in a 2006 grand Prix with that style of a stick head unit
There isn't one
I don't understand why the button has the word aux on it when there isn't one. It should just say cd
Normally when removing anything electrical from the car you have the switch turned off and disconnect the battery.
I was wondering why he had the car on. Especially when he said if you disconnect the airbag plug from the trim with the battery on can send false signals
Very helpful thank you.
Very helpful, thanks.
Hello in the estéreo is auxi??
Everything goes great till the connector will literally not release so you can’t even take the stereo out
Very helpful

I hope you see this, because I need help. My favorite Led Zepplin CD is stuck in the CD player and I can’t get it to eject. How can I fix this?
What type of screwdriver do you need to remove the screws?
Phillips screwdriver or a 1/4 socket.
It was helpful. Thanks!!
What wiring harness did you use? I'm confused on which one to get
after doing this my car wont turn on. i followed instruction exacly as shown everything powers up but the car wont turn on

Put it back in park.
Thank you!

Brad Martin same here, I have no idea what that second plug is for and there isn't anywhere to plug it in, in the new stereo I bought

@Barry Shaw you don't need it lol. I pulled mine and all it did was make me lose the date and year. Car still runs fine and works as it should

why leave the car on? and why do the shifting of gears?
I'm pretty sure he shifted the gears so the shifter wouldn't be in the way.
The shifter wont move without the key in. Shifter blocks the radio.
Ty vry good
Lol I was going to try this then I got scared when u starting pulling wires and stuff lol I just wait to my cousin does it
