Thank you so much. I need SIMPLE in my life...simple crocheting, simple knitting and/or simple quilting...Right now, we are all stressed and can't add any more to this level. Again, thank you...this is great!
Those are beautiful patterns and you're right about the need for simple knitting right now. I will go look them up and also look at your patterns. I also love your friendly and helpful style. Thanks!
Thank you, Barbara! You must have known this was exactly what I was looking for! Mindless knitting is what I needed right now.💜Please stay safe and try and stay sane!🧶
Thanks for the encouragement to go for comfort at this time! My knitting-self went, "Ahhhh" -- a deep sigh of relief. I hadn't realized how much tension I was holding. 😀 Now I'm off to work on a simple, comforting shawl with a gradient yarn my granddaughters gave me for Christmas last year. 😊
I came across your channel and love your tutorial. You explain better and understandable. You have such a calming, bright personality. The way you do m1 , I do as well. The more convenient in making the knitting experience better to execute. God bless. Stay safe.
I’ve used your tiny shawl recipes and they are great! They’re easy to follow, and once you get the shaping memorized, you can easily add your own customizations.
When knitting a shawl and trying to determine the needle size from a swatch, I understand that you base you it on the "drape" of the swatch, but what does that really mean. How do you know what the right "drape" is?. I have been knitting for a few years, but recognizing the "drape" is new to me. I hope I am making sense, lol.
I was wondering if people would notice LOL! As soon as I figure out how to do the photography with no model I will be getting that one out there for y'all!
Barbara I’m so happy to have seen you show that Pomroy pattern, because I have had that very same yarn languishing in my stash for two or three years now. Now I have a use for it. -EyeNitSox on Ravelry
Thanks so much, Barbara! I really appreciate you including me! It's true, the On Off shawl alternates Garter and Stockinete panels. The pattern includes some little easy details like slip-stitch spines that continue down into the final edges.
@@WatchBarbaraKnit Thank you so much. This reminds me, I need to take a picture of my wonderful A Good Scarf. I finished it on a long train trip and made a cowl out of it. :)
Yay, you included a pattern with knit and crochet! Gonna give that one a try since I’ve started knitting Portuguese style and need practice (but also want something pretty at the end). Thank you!
Hey, I just discovered your UA-cam channel yesterday (or was it the day before?) and absolutely binge watched your videos while knitting a sweater vest. I learned so many new things, especially on the technical side of knitting, because you make everything so easy to understand even though english is not my first language. Also, you have a great humour and such an open approach to including everyone. Today I found myself watching mainly the Fave 5 videos, but I wondered why there weren't any more of them for about a year now? I'd be really happy if they came back, but I guess there is a good reason for it that I just didn't find written anywhere. Thank you for your great work and have a nice weekend!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such uplifting words. Fave 5 is a bit of a situation for me right now. I primarily used Ravelry to look for and recommend patterns and they are having problems with accessibility of their site which makes me hesitant to continue to make those videos. I have been trying to figure out an alternative way to make those videos but haven't figured it out yet. I am so glad you like them tho!
I ABSOLUTELY am addicted to knitting🥢 shawls 🙌🏼😍🤗🙋🏼♀️📣 ❣ Thank you Barbara for sharing ALL of these wonderful options for me to choose from 😃! Now I'm stuck though 🤯 but at least I have more to choose from for my new yarn I have coming! #YARNMakesMeHappy🧶 #GPWarrior💚🥄
Nice to see your fave five pop up. Was just thinking about you and your family. I do not know if my time will increase or decrease for knitting once the zoom-schooling stops next week. Less time overseeing but more with a only child with no structure and "to grown up for kid toys".
I love your videos. I would love to know how to make a simple rectangle shawl bias ends. Can you make a video on this to add to your other simple shawl tutorial videos?
I learn so much from your descriptions. I like the asymmetrical shape shawl, but prefer the boomerang shape. I can not wrap my head around the difference enough to look at a pattern and realize if indeed it will be the boomerang shape. I would love to have you explain this someday if you are so inclined.
I will put that on my list. A boomerang is an asymmetrical triangle, but not all asymmetrical triangles are boomerangs. It has to do with the speed of increasing and weather or not it's worked on a bias.
Hi Barbara, I loved your video presentation, as usual. I do have a question though. What is a garter tab cast on. I've not heard of this before. I would like to say that I loved all the shawls and could see myself making them all. Of course, I say this with most of your patterns you present and a lot of other patterns I see too. There is never going to be enough time in my lifetime to knit everything I want to knit. lol Anyway, thanks for another great video!
Garter tab is one way designers use to start a shawl so that the neck edge is seamless. It's a little fiddly but no big deal. Here is a link to a tutorial on them from Jen Lucas: ua-cam.com/video/roqfQoPyt5Y/v-deo.html I'm glad you liked the video and thank you for your kind words!
I am so glad you like that pattern, it is called Perseverance. It is a written pattern that can be purchased here: www.tumpedduck.com/designs/perseverance/ There is not a video tutorial for that shawl.
Hey Barb, how are you? First, thank you for sharing! Second, are you from Wisconsin? Just wondering. I wanted to add here, on this video, my 16yr old granddaughter, Eve, she told me to tell you, her friends and her say their all time most comfy shawl is what they call their half blankets, really they say bankies. On real cold winter days they take them to school. She said, Nana really some of the girls really cut a blanket in half then folded it and sew it together. Oh, she was watching you, with me. I'm attempting a shawl but..anyway she wants you to name a shawl you make after her. Calling it Eve's Shawlter. I didn't ask. She asks if it could be a rectangle, not a triangle. Cooshee too. Ok thts it. I did what I said I would do. You are a super person. Wish we were neighbors. Oh, the laughs we could have!!! Keep em nimble..God Bless You
I am not from Wisconsin, but I am originally from Southern Indiana - so definitely MidWest! It sounds like your granddaughter is a lot of fun. I do like designing rectangular shawls!
I’m an experienced knitter, but I so love watching your videos! Keep up the awesome work!
Awesome! Thank you!
Hoping to still find these. Thanks Barbara 💖
They should all still be available!
Thank you so much. I need SIMPLE in my life...simple crocheting, simple knitting and/or simple quilting...Right now, we are all stressed and can't add any more to this level. Again, thank you...this is great!
You are so welcome!
I love these shawls. I think I will reknit some variegated yarn into the arrowood shawl. It will show off the yarn better.
I'm sure it will be a super fun knit.
Those are beautiful patterns and you're right about the need for simple knitting right now. I will go look them up and also look at your patterns. I also love your friendly and helpful style. Thanks!
Thank you so much! Happy shawl knitting!
Hi Barbara, I love your Favorite 5 Series! Your choices introduce me to new (to me) designers. Thank you!
That is great to hear because that is my goal for these videos!
Thank you, Barbara! You must have known this was exactly what I was looking for! Mindless knitting is what I needed right now.💜Please stay safe and try and stay sane!🧶
I guess we're all in the same mindset LOL!
I am so happy to hear this. Do what makes you feel good, you deserve it.

Thank you for taking the time to share such kind words! I'm so glad you found me.
Thank you so very much for this video,Barbara. I love these shawl styles, and I love your style,! You are truly a skilled and inspiring mentor.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad you enjoyed the video!
I’ve used your tiny shawl recipes and they are great! They’re easy to follow, and once you get the shaping memorized, you can easily add your own customizations.
That is great to hear because that was my intent behind making them.
Thanks! Very nice shawls.
Thank you! 😊
Love all of these shawls including perseverance ! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! As soon as I figure out how to do the photography there will be an intro video for Perseverance!

Nice; I love them all...😉
Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful evening! 🤗
Thank you! You too!
Thanks for the Fav 5... I always click on you when you run those. I like your other vids, but these are irresistible.
I need to do some new Fave 5 - but I keep getting distracted LOL! Any suggestions for a theme?
@@WatchBarbaraKnit I have been knitting for 60+ years... but have never knitted myself a sweater! Cardigan? Simple please! Thanks
Thanks for another great Fave 5. And I have been looking for simple pretty shawls. Great timing. Lol!
Yay! I'm so glad that it clicked for a bunch of people.

I just love knitting shawls. They're like potato chips LOL.
@@WatchBarbaraKnit EXACTLY!! 😂🤣👍🏼! That's the best way to describe them "You can't just have one, or two or three or four!!" 😂🤣😂😃🥰😁

Angelina Crafts I’m totally in the same boat. With an only child, keeping them out of trouble & boredom is a big challenge!

where do i find the patterns for these Barbara please.
There are links to everything I mentioned in the description notes for the video. You probably need to click something that says “see more”.
Great choices. I steer away from asymmetrical shawls as I struggle with wearing them. Ha.
You are not alone in that. I love all shapes but you are not the first person who has said that.
Good URL for the Arrowood shawl: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/arrowood
Did I mess that up? My apologies - I'll fix it!
Dodge have that shape
