It was a unicorn 🦄 to find but I finally got ahold of a 942m 3 inch in Stainless steel. Had it shipped from a gunstore from North Carolina to Florida. Seen it was on their website of most recently added new inventory, and I made the purchase a quick as possible. I have been in the hunt for this particular model since the beginning of 2024. I am happy to now have it. Great .22 magnum revolver. I also bought the viridian laser grip from taurus website and it compliments the pistol very very well.
I absolutely love mine! I got the 3 inch black non ultralight model and put the Ameriglo hi viz orange night sight and Houge Lamo Camo grips on it that Taurus sells on their website. My only complaint was the rounds tended to stick in the chambers after shooting a lot so I had my gunsmith polish the chambers on the cylinder and it’s been 100% reliable since! I have quite a lot of 22 magnum ammo so it gets a lot of use and makes for a great kit gun! Edit: they are very hard to find! I was working at a gun shop at the time I picked it up and had my distributor find it for me!
For those of us who remember the quality of Taurus in the past, it takes a pretty big leap of faith to even think about buying one. If AFR is endorsing it, then it may be time to look at it.
Love my 8 shot 22 lr 43c from s&w for all the same reasons. Dao, 12 oz loaded with 8 shots of fed punch. Great little package. Glad taurus makes a more affordable option. And this gets 1 more shot the 351c as he mentions. Buffalos outdoor testing of 22 lr vs 22 mag from snub convinced me to save $ and get nearly same performance
I have been looking for a 942m for sometime now, even contacted Taurus, who told me assured me they still make it, but nobody online has it, one of my local gun stores tried to order 1 for me, but couldn't, the other said they had ordered some almost 15 months ago and still haven't got them yet, luckily I found the charter arms pathfinder 22m
942 steel .22lr great trainer & 692 I've been running for 5 years lots of vids. I think some ULs had some back plate issues w euro rims hoping 856UL I have on the way will be ok.
@AFRevolver357 cool. I'm debating if I should run it stock once, before I put on XS Big Dot, Galloway or Wolff Hammer spring, & My Custom Wolf rosewood grips. Has a hammer and I'll carry federal so hoping be ok no light strikes. I'm reviewing a couple Charters now too so far so good Pitbull 40 and a green frame UC2 16 ounce 6 shot like the UL I'm getting so they will be very similar.
I've got the 942 UL in 22LR,,black finish,,shell casings wouldn't come out of the cylinder without having to use a wooden dow to pop them out.Sent it back to the factory,,they replaced the cylinder and it came back worse.I recommend the steel frame version.
@Gieszkanne if you watch Lucky gunners ballistic gel test on the 22 magnum with Federal punch ammo and Hornady hollow point ammo out of a snubnose 22 magnum penetrated 13" to 15" inches deep and 38 special out of a snubnose revolver was getting those same results in penetration...just the 38 special had more expansion and fragmentation obviously
@@royorkesjr.8386 Gun Sam got 15 inches with Federal Punch out of a short Beretta 21A. So this is nothing you couldnt have with the right 22lr ammo much cheaper.
@Gieszkanne well that's interesting I never seen that test that's pretty cool thank you for letting me know about that test and I never doubt the effectiveness of the 22lr like most people do but the only thing I can say is the advantage of 22 magnum vs 22lr even out of a snubnose revolver, you get a legitimate jacketed bullet and you can have some expansion with the right defensive ammo and both are obviously rimfire cartridges and have problems with reliability because of failures to ignite the casings, the 22 magnum has far less failures and proves to be more reliable than 22lr so you telling me that a test was done to prove they both have similar penetration I guess you're right about that but even out of snubnose revolvers the 22 magnum comes out a little faster at least 150fps faster maybe a little more and the faster it goes will translate into more Kinectic force and you are definitely right about the cheaper ammo
We own the heavier version of this gun...it was carried for a while, now serving on HD duty...the caliber isn't all that great, but 8 rounds helps, and revolvers the only way to go with .22 (yes, .22wmr is rimfire, and thus slightly prone to ignition issues)...
I have the ultralight 942m, Light primer strikes from the beginning sent it back to Taurus, invoice said adjusted trigger spring and adjusted hammer spring now it sucks double action trigger is ridiculous, my 110 pound girlfriend can’t even pull the trigger back and I also have a hard time pulling trigger in double action, I thought Taurus was coming around with the impeccable TX 22. I was wrong back to selling more junk. Thanks for nothing Taurus.
@@AFRevolver357 back in the old days, a Barami hip grip with a Tyler T or a couple rubber bands wound around the grip was the common off-duty gun. With five rounds of the Chicago load and a blackjack in your pocket, you were ready for anything

Right ON!!!!
My BRAND NEW IN BOX S&W 43C only fires 5 out of 8 charge holes. The S&W quality control SUCKS.
@@Joeak74 had the same experience with mine but they made it right

I wish they’d make a concealed hammer ultra light model in 22LR/mag
Stay Tuned
Taurus doesnt offer any internal hammer models. You can cut off the hammer spur. But in reality they are not really a problem.
The 22Mag only has a little more energy than 22lr from a 2 inch barrel but gives you much more blast and noise.
But even out of that 2" revolver it still penetrates alot deeper than the 22lr that's the beauty of it...
@@royorkesjr.8386 no that is wrong

*raises hand* I was the student that broke it
Warranty test completed satisfactorily 🫡🤙
Here in Mississippi cops tell me that it's illegal to carry without a holster
If so than he should be able to tell you in which law and § this is stated

Check out Galloway springs. Trust me, Or learn to tune the springs yourself. This one has a fantastic action.
Carry without holster, that’s where you lost me. Not to mention it’s a rimfire bullet, not reliable.
Understandable but around the house and in a pinch the hook grips work great, heck barami hip clips were the rage for a long time!
