When you see a crowd of all ages grooving, is because there is some serious music event going right there 👀 Such talented group of human beings....don't key the sh!t change you!
FWIW it was a free noon summer concert in downtown Ann Arbor, mostly townies in attendance. Probably most of the crowd had never heard of this group. But, yes, they were diggin' it. They returned in 2023 when I saw them.
My wife and I were out late one night and walked by the Showbox Sodo in Seattle. The bouncer let us in randomly since the show was almost over anyway. We had no idea what we were walking into. This girl can sing like CRAZY!! We were blown away. Their recorded music doesn't capture how much of a groove they have live.
I completely agree. I have their albums and I love their live stuff way more. Their energy and talent really comes through live. Absolutely incredible live.

We can be greatful that Clyde and Gracie grew up on the music or the 60's and 70's and that one of Clyde's heroes is Steve Wonder. Their lifelong commitmeent of this music is simply awesome ... you can hear it in their performances. They love this music and love to play it live.
Can you imagine not being already familiar with this powerhouse group and walking up on this?!?! I'd be all like, "Siri, cancel all my appointments this afternoon!"
@@TonyGambee Your comment sent me on a search for them...thanks for the recommendation. I love how they seem to be having so much fun (and I do love a great horn section).
Been a DJ since '98. Discovered them literally this past Sunday. Pretty much cleared my afternoon to find out what they're about. They're having a moment after this last single of theirs and I'm SO here for it.
Of all the well produced LIVE videos of Lawrence out there, this vid is the one I always send to people when they ask who Lawrence is. It’s like a sampler and shows how incredible of a band they are to play this well in a random park in the middle of the day. And to see all these people totally vibing to Lawrence!! Thanks for posting!!!
there it is again...... I saw this video some time ago, didn't think anything but this band got me hooked in no time, now I'm addicted to this goofy troup... thanks....
I would pay to see these guys live! They are fantastic. Gracie’s vocal range is incredible and Clive reminds me of Randy Newman and Joe Cocker melded into one.
Gracie has an objectionally incredible voice, it can give me chills. BUT, Clyde sounds like what Joe Cocker would if he hadn't smoked 3 packs a day since he was 3-weeks old; and I love it.
Can we shout out the city of Ann Arbor, MI (GO BLUE) for having this level of live music free to the public in a local park during lunchtime on a Thursday?! 🤯 Good grief I love and miss that city.
I think we got to witness a Lawrence fan be created. The woman in the pink shirt, first 10 seconds is still, then about 10 seconds in starts dancing a bit, and hten just over the course of the show it looks like she's getting really into it!
Bless you guys for DOING THE THING! LOVE IT ALL! Thanks for capturing and posting this for those who couldn't be there - keeping an eye out for them be playing in AZ!
I don’t think people appreciate how difficult it is to sound this good outdoors - vocals & instrumentation. Open spaces not built for live music, crazy echoes, the elements messing with tunings and all sorts of other complications. Speaks to the talent of the band and their sound engineer(s).
for a sound engineer, the open field is the best possible spot. In an open field there is no slapback echo, and no room modes to mess with the sound. A large outdoor festival with a tuned PA is the easiest to make sound good. Rooms have echo, mess with tonal balance, and have architectural features that block sound.
It seriously made me cry, it's so beautiful to watch the crowd grow and all sync up in rhythm, enthusiasm and energy. One of the things that makes us human. We apes have been vibing out together for centuries.
There are bands who are in the pocket all the time. And then there’s Lawrence who is so deep in the pocket they’ve gone to another dimension through a black hole.
Glad people are FINALLY starting to catch up on this band! Been following them since their early days in 2016! Saw them with 150 people in Minneapolis and saw them again this spring with 1,500 people! Y’all were lucky to experience such an intimate show with an amazing band!! Can’t with to seen them again!! Love me some Lawrence!!
Hey its only because people like you that share this experience through your social media that people like myself get to see this . Im a muso in a different country that would love to see these guys live so thank you to Lawrence for smashing out the Funk . And thank you to the Lawrence fans for spreading the funky goodness
Just discovered them a month ago. That guy has one of the best voices I ever heard. Not sure if he will not end up pursuing a solo career sometime in his life. He has that star.
Note to self: if I ever form a band, write some bangers so we can have an awesome time playing these songs live night after night. These guys look like they’re enjoying themselves in every performance I’ve watched - whether in a studio, in an arena or on a makeshift stage like this.
This reminds me of the time I saw Joan Osborne (before her first album had even come out) and the Spin Doctors at a street fair in downtown Rochester, NY, in the early 90s. Such a fantastic vibe.
Lawrence is simply one of the best things happening in music right now. Period. 🔥🔥🔥
So true, what a great band with a mix of genres and PURE energy 🔥
Damn, yes. The best since the Beatles, since the Stones. Even better in a way! The lead singer is better ;-)
Literally just discovered them thanks to Rick Glassman and the TYSO podcast. They're amazing
Lawrence, Vulfpeck, and Louis Cole/Knower are the best things to happen in music in YEARS

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE BAND
They are great and I love bands with a horn section.
Have to agree. HORNS are the special sauce. 🤌💯
awesome seeing how much fun they're having
One of the best bands out here doing it for sure!
I love this band so much. I can't wait to see them live again.
To see this audience of mainly young people going crazy over soul and funk music, sax solos, and clavichord does this musician's soul good.
I refuse to listen to these repetitive anno 2022 pop songs
Amen!
The crowd put as large of a smile on my face as the music. Well... almost as big. ;D
There’s always hope in the margins. Lawrence is that hope in music.
as a youngin (alright i just turned 30) i'm glad you have love for us. the music trancends
How dare you American citizens get this level of damn good music in some random park??? So good even through the screen
What a "Feel Good" concert! And to see such a diverse crowd groovin' together did this old man's heart good.
How Gracie Lawrence is not an international superstar is beyond me.. the entire band absolutely rocks it..
Live soul music in public.... with a horn section. What a treat.
Just f... ing amazing and absolutely wonderfully beautiful!!!
