Him not having reacted to the "lawrence - dont lose sight (acoustic)" video is actually criminal, because it is probably their most famous and (in my opinion) most impressive acoustic performance!
It's fair enough. A lot of people haven't yet discovered the best band in the world, and when they do, it’s natural to listen to the latest releases and work back. @nickruhle_, I dig your reactions and I cant wait for your Lawrence journey
That performance of “Don’t Lose Sight” was lightning in a bottle, part pop classic, part church revival, as entertaining to watch as it is to hear. How it got no Grammy love still leaves me mystified.
At this point I’m just taking requests because y’all LOVE this band. 😂 It’s rad to see everyone’s passion. And it’s justified! They’re talented beyond their years. I will keep this in mind! 🤝
Most of the actual 8 pc Lawrence band are in this performance, the trumpeter being the lone exception. Negah Santos, percussionist of Stephen Colbert’s Late Show band is in there as well (her second Lawrence vid I believe). I’ve described Clyde’s voice as Randy Newman and Ray Charles falling into Jeff Goldblum’s fly machine and coming out one person(IYKYK). Call it pop-r&b, neo-soul, whatever, their talent for crafting songs with memorable hooks is remarkable. You can hear Gracie singing with Meghan Trainor on “Crushin’,” from her just released album, and if you want to hear some peak Clyde, you can find him doing an impressive cover of “(I Wanna) Testify,” a really early George Clinton hit (when he was channeling his inner Norman Whitfield) over the end credits of episode 4 of HBO’s The Jinx 2.
I was going to mention how Lawrence has also joined the Disney Parks pantheon by reworking a tune in the Disney 100th anniversary fireworks show, “Wondrous Journeys,” sped it up, changed some lyrics, and turned it into the bop, “It’s Wondrous,” that plays as the outro music as audiences exit down Main Street, Disneyland, but I figured I was reaching the point where readers’ eyes would be glazing over. But seriously, you nailed it in that they won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but the extraordinary talent they have as singers/songwriters/producers/performers is undeniable.
When he was just five years of age, he composed the theme song for the film Miss Congeniality, which was directed by his father. The Miss United States pageant anthem he composed plays a large role in the film. This resulted in him becoming the youngest member of the Songwriters Guild of America.
For the sake of research and making sure I don’t just agree to a comment, I looked this up. That. Is. INSANE. Even he said “I’m still trying to do something as cool as being able to say that.” 😂 What a wild life he lives.
One song. The one Shatner sings when the winner is crowned. Producers didn't like what they had. His father let his kid have go at it...submitted it anonymously. Producers liked it better than what they had. Youngest member of the Songwriting Guild.
Love watching Adam Scott react to my favorite band 🙌🏻 Definitely gotta be “Don’t Lose Sight (Acoustic)” next. And if you want one that really shows off Gracie’s powerhouse vocals, “Shot” or “The Last Song” (it’s subtle, but near the end, she holds a note in the background for like over ten seconds)
THIS SONG IS FIREE! Clyde's voice is so unique! Everyone's LIT! The meaning of the song's so powerful! Mannnnn.. I wish they'd come to Asia! Now I REALLY want people to now about them 🙏🙏🙏
Clyde reminds me of Ray Charles mixed with Randy Newman. He and Gracie are unbelievable. Their background singers are also amazing. Don't Lose Sight and The Weather (both acoustic)= FIRE
I’m going to lose my MIND if he doesn’t do a reaction video to “Don’t Lose Sight acousticish” next. Followed by “I’m Confident That I’m Insecure” and then “The Weather”. If he thinks this is a 10/10 (and it IS), he’s going to think Don’t Lose Sight is a 20/10. I’m subscribing JUST so I can see his reaction. 😂
Yeah, "Don't Lose Sight acoustic" is the one to beat. I'm actually lookinh forward to the acoustic version of theor most recent single "Tell Me What You Want."
@@nickruhle_ Sorry -- I didn't mean a dismissive "next" ... I meant that I loved this reaction and am ready for you to do another Lawrence acoustic-ish reaction! 🙂
@@nickruhle_ So many solid options. “The Weather” the acoustic/gospel version, “False Alarms” live with Jon Bellion, their cover of “Live and Let Die”. That last one shows off how talented the whole band is.
Imma be real, G. I heard that first song and it was very underwhelming. I know that isn’t fair to compare songs, but to have these insane studio takes and to start the album off in a way that wasn’t as… I guess energetic? It just felt like they didn’t lay it all out like some of their other songs. But I’ll have to check out the rest of the album soon!
This was just a kind comment. 🤌🏻🤝 I’m on beat, but the sync issue I have while streaming/recording always makes it seem like I’m not. 😂 Thanks for checking out the video!
Trust me, I know. It’s a dual PC setup with a very complicated but well put together audio routing system. If I sync one thing, I lose another. But I’ll probably look into it more in the future because I’m sure I could figure it out now that I’ve had time to study it.

@Merc-zf8zz they didn't have enough lobbying budget like the big record Co's.
Part of the problem
I came here to say this too
Welcome to the Family Business. Come make yourself at home. 👏
It seem broken but it’s crazy by design
Don't Lose Sight (acoustic) definitely has to be the next reaction!

Clydes voice is distinctly his own, but whenever he sings Randy Newmans head pops up like a meerkat listening for his friend's alarm call.

This is, and probably will be for a while, the most detailed comment I’ve ever gotten. You REALLY know your stuff. I’m legit impressed. 😂
Don't forget Huey Lewis piano skills of Billy Joel

Gotta go to Acoustic versions of Don't Lose Sight, and The Weather too... Confident Im Insecure... they just are amazing. Voices, Arrangements, etc.

Clyde is the only person i would accept to properly cover a Huey Lewis song. High praise.
I love Huey Lewis too. I also hear a young, soulful Randy Newman.
Gracie and Clyde could come all the cookouts and I’d even make Gracie’s plate lol
Finally......I've been waiting for you to embrace your Lawrence side. They have HITS bro. HITS
You ain’t wrong 👀 Look, I like to tiptoe into new music in case of burnout, but they seem to sit just right with me. 🤌🏻
@@nickruhle_ your next reactions of their acoustic videos should be "I'm confident I'm insecure" and "don't lose sight" in that order

Bro the fallout reference is goated 😂
We love Roguely (the editor) around these parts. 😂
As a musician, I love your non-musician analysis of Lawrence. Anybody can absolutely tell that this is great music.
The one next to grace singing her band does a cover of harvest moon that is pretty good. The band is called melt
