3:30:40 i imagine Jen forgetting the whole "midnight raid" thing, only to be woken up, instantly remember the raid is 'bout to begin and saying "fuck it" and going to town on them demons.
what an amazing game, you can really tell the passion that was put into it, I absolutely loved the little details like the changing between the CURSED I-III HUD when using Spencer Randall and Jennifer. little things they didnt have to but but did make it really stand out. Also loved the Chrono Triggeresque timeline ending, really impactful.
The whole story is truly a curse, the existence of Jennifer/Luna. Spencer and his family: His wife corrupted by the Void to become a monstrous human/spider hybrid, she miscarried a child that turned demonic, that same unborn killing by dismemberement their son and their daughter got slaughtered to bits by cultists in the town after Randall tried to save her. Poor girl didn't even got peace in her death, forced to haunt her room as a wraith. And in the end, after being saved from corruption, Spencer sacrifices his life in order to defeat at last Malus. Randall fighting to the last in order to defend the crystal, turned undead by Death to fulfill his promise then sent to the afterlife once the defense is complete. Jennifer's parents corrupted by Malus' influence, her father killed by her insane mother and the latest mortally wounded by Randall before she offered herself to the demon lord. The entire town sacrificed to Malus by his cult. The Lunaris decimated during the war. No wonder Luna decides to destroy that crystal, people die for/because of her.
Well that was quite the journey getting very weird and left-field towards the end there lol! How did we go from a haunted farmhouse filled with ghouls and ghosts to some high fantasy Moon Goddess shenanigans in the same game! Also hearing Metroid Prime music next to classic Nintendo tunes was quite the trip I'll say and the weird familiars straight out of castlevania Symphony of the night threw me for a loop. And damn that full dragon puzzle was quite frustrating
For me, it wasn't really frustrating, so much it was time consuming, because I forgot how I solved it last time. I added a note in the description to make it clear, but basically, first three rows, last row, and I forgot to clear the left and right columns until the pieces fell in place. A silly moment. It did feel like a Metroidvania in a way with its completion rate and use of familiars, or spirits. Personally, the concept could work in that sort of setting.

I find it oddly hilarious and absolutely epic when the game shifts from retro music to full on metal during the midnight raids. On another note the midnight raids are my favourite bit in the game.
As long as you don't panic and try to anticipate and keep your escape routes open, it ain't too bad. Once you get yourself leveled up and familiar with your weapons and magic, it can be a blast to plow through.
I really love video games, movies or books, basically any story where the main protagonist has to survive a very long night up until the sun rises at dawn either by themselves or with allies that dwindle throughout the horrors of the night. Assault of Precinct 13 OG and Remake come to mind, Resident Evil 1, Evil Dead, Hell Night, Judgment Night, Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 and numerous other stories out there. There is even an awesome episode of the show Supernatural in it’s 3rd season where the Winchester Brothers have to survive the night trapped in a small police station with other people working there & locked up too against a horde of demons possessing half of the people in the town where the police station is located. It’s a really good tense, suspenseful, action packed hour long episode. Survive the through the night last stands are so damn great, especially when they are beyond a last stand situation, and is just a trapped & figure out how to fight, survive and deal with the threats all around them.
Finished watching all three. It's been an interesting evolution to witness. From fairly basic horror point-and-click with combat to somewhat more involved point-and-click with RPG elements, a fantasy-ish mythos, and multiple endings. Even the MS Paint graphics grew on me after a time. I think it's easy to pick on or dismiss the game because of that, but they seem to be fairly well-made underneath it all. The music, while sourced from other games and artists, was picked pretty well, too. And I honestly loved the callbacks in the end where each protag fought with their respective interface and weapons. I'm just a sucker for little things like that. It's been great and while not the most professionally-looking game made out there, I think it's got a good bit of heart. Makes me want to fire up Godot and think about making something similar myself.
Thank you for this playthrough. it was awesome to watch. I binged your Cursed 1, 2 and 3 videos. I have to say, it was like watching a really long and really good movie. This is better than most new release games lol. I can't believe it ended up the way it did. Don't get me wrong, the whole ending and branch into fantasy was cool, I enjoyed it and it was very creative, but if I have to be honest I think I loved the 2nd one the most! Either way, thanks for doing the playthrough. I wouldn't have even known it exists if you hadn't.
I am glad to hear that you enjoyed this! It has been a pleasure to bring more attention to this underrated series. While I did enjoy this game, I do prefer Cursed 2 as my personal favorite of the three entries.
It's about time a video like this got made. Now people can turn to this incase they got stuck somewhere in the game and need a quick guide to help in moving forward. Dividing the video in parts also makes it convenient to find a solution to a needed puzzle. Excellent job! :) Also, for those who want to be cheeky, you can cancel shotgun's cocking animation by immediately quickswitching to a different weapon after firing and switching to shotgun again. Same applies to hunting rifle. Unnecessary for regular encounters, but very useful if you wanna be like Scarface during the midnight raid ("Ya think you can take me?! Ya're gonna need a whole fahking army to take me!!")
I appreciate your thoughts! Serving as both a playthrough and a guide that covers puzzling moments in the game has been my intention while playing this game. There had been moments where I tried to cancel reload the shotgun, but sometimes it doesn't take. Maybe I'm suppose to press space first. I'll have to confirm on my end, but I do appreciate the tip!

I looked at all of these long plays and the best consensus I came to is that despite the power of these demonic entities and creatures like the gorgon, nothing is immune to bullets, except maybe malus
@@TheAzureNightmare Hey, here's a thought Doom takes place after the "Delay the Curse" ending. Malus, mutated for unknown reasons, is now dubbed the Icon of Sin. He turns the void realm into Hell, and takes a chunk of Deimos to it. Demonic influences appear on Mars, and the rest is history.
So we first play as a nameless, unknown protagonist who saves Jennifer and dies at the end (Yes I spoiled the first game, why are you watching the 3rd game without seeing the first and second?), then we play as the red headed dude who allowed Jennifer to go down the mine that started this mess, and ended up defeated the demon, and now we get to play Jennifer the girl who's been basically been at the center of all this. Looking forward to see how this whole thing ends
I watched someone else play this before; they admitted to having been told their game wasn't running at a proper speed courtesy of the developer himself. Looking at this playthrough; the game speed is much faster than what the other UA-camr was playing at. I mean, the flying head actually looks like a challenge to shoot what with the intense zooming!
Just beat the game. Overall? Epic...All I can say is epic with epic conclusion. I just felt heart attack, when kid Jennifer looked at me in the end. She was like saying, "Hey player, Thanks for be with me. I am having new life as a normal girl and reunited with Randall." I thought this game is like Splinter house or Evil dead like horror game but it made me cry in the end.........
So, I just spent the last little bit listening to the Legend of Dragoon soundtrack because I was dead certain that music playing in the intro bit around 0:16 was from LoD. One soundtrack didn't have the song, but another one did. It's called "Virage Embryo." Anyway, I also took a cursory look into the comments to see if anyone else brought that up, but no one did that I could see, specifically, but I did see other comments remarking on how a lot of music in this game is sourced from other games, but that one in the intro was driving me batty. As soon as I heard it, I KNEW it was from Dragoon, but I wasn't 100% sure, hence why I had to track down the sound track until I could find that song xD
This is an impressive game. It's a straight up point and click adventure game but when the midnight raids happen, you see it turn into more of an action game. Genre defying in ways that even professionals couldn't manage back in the point and click days.
Real talk, this game during midnight raids gets about as intense as Doom Eternal if you're not hiding (fitting, given the music) There isn't a feeling quite like grabbing a pistol, shotgun, and rifle, going out there, and messing them up royally. And that's why I adore this games combat.
I absolutely love this game, I'm impressed by all the really well implemented gameplay features and a charming art style. This could easily pass as a cult classic MS-DOS game from 1994. My only slight gripe is that I wish the music was more consistent. I think a very 1994 PC SoundBlaster-esqe soundtrack would of really fit this super well.
According to Disaster Squad, the same game maker engine was used, and he squeezed as much as he could to make this game work. This meant a lot of compression, and some quirks in the process such as music not looping in some segments. This is also why the game wasn't filled with many variants of certain actions or other oddities that the previous games had. One fun fact: the white rag was going to play another role, like it did in the second game, but sadly he wasn't able to fit it in there.
@@AngelHalo017 Well still it's really impressive and honestly pretty well done. Oh also by music consistent I mean picking a similar music style for the soundtrack. It was really jarring going from 8-bit songs to 16-Bit songs, CD quality heavy metal songs, etc.
That intro music sound really familiar. And yes, it's from Journey to Silius (nes) prologue theme. Music from other classic nes games too, like uninvited.
@AngelHalo017 i have been scouring the comments trying to find the name of the song that plays during most of the bossfights, the one that first plays during the hydra boss fight in the well
I'm surprised this walkthrough accurately gives all the names of the bosses....except the one in the Frozen Expanse. That tower boss's name was mentioned in the Void Language monument you solved: Arasa. In fact the statue on top even has as the second word "Arasa". Luna mentions while seeing its dead corpse that it "did NOT take her across the canyon". Perhaps because Arasa lost its rider it was no longer able to be controlled. Still impressed you were one of the few to solve the Void Language monuments. That's how the name of the other Void Realm Bosses (Spirit of the Bone Forest, Face of the Abyss, Wall of Eyes) are learned.
FWIW I hacked the Beta of GameMaker to run on 640x480 on Win95, back when it was still free to create standalone binaries with. Glad others found it "creatively inspiring too" ...
Does Disaster Squad have a donation or Patreon? They definitely deserve some proper love for these projects. Still, if I have one complaint it's that the story went way, way WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY off the rails and into the canyon. From a haunted house piece to a cult to DBZ level god punching. Whiplash, whiplash EVERYWHERE.
1:13:50 So this moment had been driving me crazy, I was trying to figure out what the hell the guy on the phone was saying. And I just found out. I kind of regret finding out now.
this game knows how to foreshadow you beat delay the curse? you see "oh hey, there's another ending. might replay and get that" then you beat end the curse, and then you go "alright, that was a fun game, pretty cool. wonder if there's any postgame content" and then you see, very subtly flickering below end the curse, prevent the curse and that's when it hits you like a truck that it's not over yet and you haven't even seen the true ending
Серёжа:м-да точно что сказать в финале как игрок с мечём и щит который победил лорд демон раньше а потом на вот тоже раньше дробовик, пистолет и молоток тоже раньше были ещё навык сохранение я не буду говорить что и всё
Great game, though it certainly looks hard at times (i.e. the mazes with the water monsters or the maze in Malus's citadel). Also, is the lack of a manual reload button intentional? There are a few things, though, that I think could've/should've been done. - When traversing the Void as Luna, you shouldn't be able to just exit and then re-enter immediately at full Spirit. I'd have it tied to Jennifer's fatigue meter, requiring her to sleep to restore your Spirit. Or, at the very least, this could've been added if the game had different difficulty settings. - Manual reloading. I know it's probably for inventory purposes, but you should be able to perform manual reloads once you get the associated pouch/belt for the weapon. - Some kind of map feature when you're in the maze inside Malus's citadel so you don't get lost. Not to mention those damn spike traps are hard to dodge. - A save point right before the Gorgon would've been nice. Yes, you can use the hourglass, but that takes up a load of space in your limited inventory. That all said, the developer(s) did a great job with this, even if they had to use other game assets like music and sounds. I'd love to see them continue to make new games with similar gameplay to the Cursed Trilogy.
I think a good chunk of these may be due to engine limitations. Disaster Squad used Game Maker 1.6 ever since the first game, and he had to do some workarounds to cram as much as he possibly could in the third game. Perhaps if he had access to the latest Game Maker at the time, it might had allowed for these to be addressed. I do find the challenge to be adequate personally, but I do consider your points to be perfectly valid as well. That said, despite the ammo thing having messed me up a bunch of times, I had been able to look past this. I do hope wherever he takes his ideas, he is able to improve further from here. It's a great trilogy.
Wow the game suddenly turn to doom when night comes. I love the fight with the captain of the guard, both in cursed 2 & 3. Such a great trilogy, i hope the author can remake the first game and make it longer
5:08 I recognize that music. That's from the MacVenture games, specifically the NES versions. I believe this is from Deja Vu. The noise upon examining the destroyed car is from the NES Friday the 13th game; it's the scare chord that plays whenever you encounter Jason. The noise when the ghoul at the front door died is the death sound from Castlevania II: Dracula's Curse. Is all this game's music and sound effects ripped from NES games? Aside from the ripped sound effects and music though, this isn't all that bad of an adventure game. Artwork's a bit on the primitive side, but perfectly serviceable, and the writing is fairly charming thus far.
i think Cursed Series Deserve to be remaked on some 3d engine and seriously look at this painted point and klick game have made me almost shit my pants many times who ever created this series I bow before you sir this game series deserve to be an masterpice it realy deserves to be remade in UDK Or Unity better ofc on Unity Its More Stable and has better FPS stability with AMD cards XD

@Tis-I That is typically standard for Steam to do. Usually stuff like mandatory Microsoft software that's required to run certain games like direct x or dotnet. What sort of software might you be referring to?
It uses music from a lot of different games. Because it started as a mid 2000s project for fun and the creator wanted to keep up that spirit - and it's also a large part of why all the games have been free from the very start.

These games look cool, really cool, and you can tell how from the various trailers that the developer's art kept getting better.
Amazing series
This game is cool
The storyline is perfect
This game has Infernax level creepyness
This is an impressive game. It's a straight up point and click adventure game but when the midnight raids happen, you see it turn into more of an action game. Genre defying in ways that even professionals couldn't manage back in the point and click days.
Real talk, this game during midnight raids gets about as intense as Doom Eternal if you're not hiding (fitting, given the music)
There isn't a feeling quite like grabbing a pistol, shotgun, and rifle, going out there, and messing them up royally.
5:43:21 - And I'm 100 years old.
Thanks man, helped me with some puzzles
That intro music sound really familiar. And yes, it's from Journey to Silius (nes) prologue theme. Music from other classic nes games too, like uninvited.
Indeed it is! I do plan on eventually making a soundtrack compilation video of this game very soon once I got all the tracks accounted for.
@AngelHalo017 i have been scouring the comments trying to find the name of the song that plays during most of the bossfights, the one that first plays during the hydra boss fight in the well
That ending broke my heart man, I mean I understand but damn! It was fucking sad!
Okay just saw the post credits, that made me better
I was NOT ready for the ammount of enemies in the raid
THE FREAK PHONE!!!!
It's so hard to find game maker games these days
I think there's just been a lot of better free options popping up.
This looks like fun but confusing at the same time 55:54
38:50 is gonna start a Cod round 1
The thumbnail is rock
this whole game is asking for a remake
I would had loved to see this game get redone on Game Maker Studio, but sadly the porting process looked to be really difficult to make happen.

A similar game to this is War of the Dead on PC Engine, where you battle similar things, with a similar protagonist
It’s pretty crazy that this game explains more about the protagonist of the first game and what’s happened to him
1:13:50 So this moment had been driving me crazy, I was trying to figure out what the hell the guy on the phone was saying. And I just found out.
I kind of regret finding out now.
What is he saying? Still can't figure out until this day, and the curiosity doesn't leave me alone

Does anyone know the soundtrack that does play in the shannon and wall of eyes boss fight?
Sorry for the late reply.

Dude if they went legit on this trilogy i wouldnt mind dropping the price tag on it
wheres the torso i found everything but that and im late game
It's in the dirt pile by the well, seen on 1:33:44
this game knows how to foreshadow
you beat delay the curse? you see "oh hey, there's another ending. might replay and get that"
then you beat end the curse, and then you go "alright, that was a fun game, pretty cool. wonder if there's any postgame content" and then you see, very subtly flickering below end the curse, prevent the curse and that's when it hits you like a truck that it's not over yet and you haven't even seen the true ending

If I were to play this game, I’ll take me more than seven hours to complete it
I don’t like the chapter 2 name
Ohh, dang. I see a evil demon spirit girl in the mirror behind her. 😕😰😱😱 What a creepy spiritual.
love it thanks man
Great game, though it certainly looks hard at times (i.e. the mazes with the water monsters or the maze in Malus's citadel).
Didn't expect the computer to actually just disappear 💀 1:09:30
i think Cursed Series Deserve to be remaked on some 3d engine and seriously look at this painted point and klick game have made me almost shit my pants many times who ever created this series I bow before you sir this game series deserve to be an masterpice it realy deserves to be remade in UDK Or Unity better ofc on Unity Its More Stable and has better FPS stability with AMD cards XD

I find it hard to believe that this is a two-year-old game.
Ah damn, after killing the boss on the tower the block neber dissappeared...
Am I softlocked?
I got this game on steam, and it asked me to download something else to help it run. Needless to say, I'm a little skeptical
@Tis-I That is typically standard for Steam to do. Usually stuff like mandatory Microsoft software that's required to run certain games like direct x or dotnet. What sort of software might you be referring to?
@@AngelHalo017 I'll have to check, but it took me to a Microsoft website, so it's probably okay?
It was to a Direct X end user runtime web installer
@Tis-I That's standard. Some games may need specific versions and Steam often takes the guess work out of it.
@@AngelHalo017 okay good. I want to play the game, I don't want to download a virus
Why does this game use music from uninvited and goblins 3..?
It uses music from a lot of different games.
Because it started as a mid 2000s project for fun and the creator wanted to keep up that spirit - and it's also a large part of why all the games have been free from the very start.
Can someone know what are the songs of this game its cool
A lot to go over. Stay tuned.
