    I see Law's "How many people have you killed, Drake" as a hint that Law already knew that Drake isn't a "real" pirate but a marine. This was the line that made me really suspicious towards Drake (and rightfully so) from the get-go.

      I always saw it as a reference to Drake's devil fruit, and the fact that the primal predator devil fruits tend to have an impact on your blood thirst; but also mixed with the fact that Drake walked around breaking up fights and telling people to get along.

    This may be an unpopular take, but to me, Law seems like the same person pre-time-skip as now. He still has his cunning and sarcastic moments, he just mellowed out a bit, probably from growing up by two years and realizing the seriousness of what he wants to do. In some way, he’s like Zoro, as Zoro got wayyy more serious after the time skip as he realized he wasn’t able to help Luffy on his time of need and needed to be stronger. Either way, Law is one of my favorite characters and I love both perceptions of him

    I always took Law's "Drake! How many people have you killed?" as a tease, as if Law *knew* he was a Marine pretending to be a pirate.
    As in, when Law said that I wondered if he knew.
    To be frank, when I read that Drake 'defected' from the Marines my immediate reaction was "no he didn't, he undercover" so that influenced my take on Law's comment.

      Law was introduced with a cute polar bear as his right hand man and he said to Jean Bart it thanks to Luffy he was able to save him, that's not evil character portrayal at all. I feel like Dressrosa would still be saved due to the fact that the revolutionary army was aiming to topple it regardless and this time there's no admiral there for Sabo to distract. There also a Sabo who got his memories realized he lost 2 of his brothers in the war would probably be extremely ruthless.

    • @zeromagnum2811

      No because Sabo koala and hack had no clue about sugar and her powers. Which would have screwed them in the end. And once she touched them dragon would forget they existed. So no help would come for them. If the history is changed so much that luffy died at marineford and the strawhats were finished. It would literally ruin everything and everyone in the long run. And Burgess would have got the flame flame fruit in Dressrosa. unless Doffy killed him and kept it. Which would cause Blackbeard to later kill Doffy. Ultimately kaido and big mom being the last yonko would result in imu winning because once it came down to it the world government would kill Kaido and big mom by any means necessary throwing marines and weapons at them until they fell. The narrative is so tied to luffy that is he is dead everything goes wrong.

    Given Law’s level of narrative importance, I think it’s fair that he has the same bounty as Luffy after the raid. Sure, Luffy is a stronger combatant, but Law initiated the plan to target Kaido and weaken his army, and then Luffy galvanized an alliance to fight the Beast pirates. Kid having a similar bounty is bs though 😂. He showed up and shot a couple if bullets at Big Mom. He’s like the kid who shows up the day you present a group project despite having contributed nothing prior.

    • @zeromagnum2811
      @zeromagnum2811 Рік тому +3

      Good ole Captain Mid. lol. But to be serious you downplayed him a bit there. Yeah he shouldnt have a equal bounty to luffy and law in context. But the WG doesn't know or care about the context of truth. They just know those three took down two yonko in a alliance and they want to downplay Luffy because they know he is joyboy. So Luffy's bounty is intentionally nerfed. And kidd is placed at the same just because he was apart of the team that did it. Kidd got pummeled to dust by big mom but didnt go unconscious and delivered half the finishing blow to her. So He wasn't out of place in the fight. He just took part in the plan law and the rest set in motion as a player in the big fights. But because the intel Cipher poll had placed him in a alliance with Luffy and Law as far as the WG knew he was in on it from the start. They dont have the full context the viewers/readers do within the stories narrative. That is why the bounties are the same. Luffys would be higher but they intentionally downplayed him and made it the same.

      @@zeromagnum2811 Law is also keeping the fact that he's a D and the sole survivor of Flevance a secret from the World Government. Not to mention that they were willing to pay 5 billion just for the Ope Ope no Mi itself. I suspect both Luffy and Law's bounties were nerfed in order to keep the truth of joyboy, the Gomu Gomu no Mi, Flevance, and the Immortality surgery a secret from the public. Meanwhile, Kidd.... yeah, he just has nowhere near the same level of narrative importance or feats.

      Maybe yall need to separate the bounties are a measure of how powerful you are (power scaling). Bounties are what the WG see you as. E.g. Nico Robin should have the 2nd highest bounty among the straw hats since she's a direct threat to the WG. Among the likes of Jinbei (former warlord) and Franky (proximity to an ancient weapon).

    What if Law was 100% evil instead of just only somewhat evil but with some standards. Seriously, despite Rosinante/Corazon's influence, Law still seems predisposed towards evil in general. Like his initial plan to get back at Doflamingo is entangle him and all of Dressrosa in a war with Kaido which will likely kill hundreds if not thousands of people. Not to mention, he was willing to ditch a bunch of sick children because they weren't "part of the plan" and only did it because Luffy threatened to break up their alliance if he didn't, plus he was disgusted at the thought of helping people on Wano Country. I honestly don't blame him for being this way, though, given what happened to him as a child and Doflamingo's initial influence on him (as much as he'll deny it). Corazon and Luffy definitely helped him not be completely evil, but there's still some of it there.

    • @1000SunnyGo
      @1000SunnyGo Рік тому +33

      I have my own interpretation of Law's "moral greynews". Law didn't intervene Ceaser's experiments but he said he didn't like Ceaser's way of doing things. He didn't care about Dressrosa citizens but it's a stretch to say his plan had direct involvement to citizen's deaths, he simply wanted to make Kaido angry enough so he kills Doflamingo. He told Doffy to 'lick the asses of everyone in the country' for his actions, he didn't appreciate Doflamingo's cruelty towards them at all.
      In Wano, Law said he finds it revolting to help the citizens but he also said that as a doctor he'd rather not kill anyone. I'm not sure if i remember right but Kroom's earlier explanation in a databook stated that he made the sword long enough to reach the ground Vs Big Mom so onigashima wouldn't crumble upon the country by the impact of puncture willie. Tldr, Law is morally neutral but he doesn't like to harm anyone.
      I think it's safe to say Law is naturally a good person. Yes his power had a notoriety but it could simply be for how creepy it is (dude carries people's heart in hand). He's not a compassionate pirate captain like Luffy but he tends to be drawn towards lively, silly and nice people (just look at the Heart pirates, these are people he recruited) who wouldn't let his heart grow cold.
      Remember how Wano Law told Usopp to die keeping the mouth closed but later said he'd rather let the plan fail than to watch someone from their side die? That's his entire character.

    • @zeromagnum2811
      @zeromagnum2811 Рік тому +9

      Law isn't so much evil in general it was more he was enraged at the world and fallen into pure despair until all he wanted was to destroy a world that destroyed him. He was a revenge driven anti hero like Frank Castle from marvel. Corazon showed him a different way. And it shifted his revenge angle towards Doffy instead after he killed him. But he still sought to destroy and break the world system that took everything from him also just without seeking to kill everyone and anything like he said at first when revenge consumed him. Luffy's influence showed him that his pure focus on revenge to the point of ignoring his compassion and humanity was wrong which is why he got annoyed at first with most of luffys actions because it went against his initial ideals. But Law was never evil at any point he was just driven by rage and revenge. And in that destroying anything in his way in anger was the only way he could think of to deal with it. once revenge was his focus rather then destruction he became a scheming troll willing to pull any string and do whatever it took to pull of his plans.

  • @MoostachedSaiyanPrince
    @MoostachedSaiyanPrince Рік тому +9

    Honestly, I think there's still a chance Law gets involved at Marineford in this scenario, but it wouldn't be in the exact same capacity IMO, and definitely for different reasons. Given that his milestone goal is killing Doflamingo in this story and sewing chaos and death across the world is his greater goal, I think it's entirely possible he shows up at Marineford with the intention of killing Doflamingo in all the chaos as well as assassinating as many big names as he can to cause even more chaos in the long run. Hell, he could even end saving Luffy in this story too, but albeit for far more nefarious purposes. After all, the way Luffy shook up events at Marineford despite being outclassed by just about every big name there would definitely pique Law's interest as a potential pawn of his schemes. Plus if Law's evil in this story, he'd more than likely save Luffy just because it would put Luffy in his debt and Law is perceptive and smart enough to use this to his advantage. Also when you take into consideration how much about Luffy's familial connections are revealed to the world at Marineford, Law would have even more incentive to try and wrangle Luffy into owing him a favor since he would have no way of knowing that Luffy would never really willingly make use of those connections. This would IMO still lead to Luffy being saved by Law at Marineford, but would instead have Law basically make it clear to Luffy that he owes him a.heavy debt once he wakes up. The story would probably then be very similar until either Fishman Island or just before Pink Hazard, because in this version of events, Law would actively seek out Luffy as soon as he hears that the Straw Hat Pirates have shown up on Sabaody. Which means Law would likely make the alliance with Luffy even sooner here, either making contact with him on Fishman Island, or just after the leave, rather than just running into Luffy on Punk Hazard. Honestly, I think the story overall would be very similar to what we got in canon, with the biggest difference being that either Law's relationship with Luffy would be more like Luffy's relationship with Kid, where it's an alliance of people with very different ideas that would never really be friends. Or it could even end up being a Redemption arc, where Law's alliance with Luffy eventually breaks the dark influence that Doflamingo had over him, ad Law just ends up being a slightly darker version of the one we're familiar with.

  • @DogFlamingoXIII

    Law was never intended to eat the Ope Ope no mi, because Doflamingo knew that whoever ate it would be dying, and he wanted Law to grow up to be his right hand man. The only reason he was going to kill off Law was that he had already eaten the fruit, and there was nothing that could be done about it at that point. Law might have been given the Ope Open no mi after Doflamingo gave it to the first person, had them die to give him eternal youth, and then gave it to Law to have him be the ship's doctor/ scientist (which would have helped greatly with the SMILE production). With Law staying in the crew, Doffy would have likely pushed him and Baby 5 together, knowing that Baby 5 was likely going to scoot if she found a man that truly loved her and would help him. I don't think that he would have left Doflamingo's crew at all, because he woudln't have been given the Ope Ope no mi, unless it was after Doflamingo already got what he wanted from it. Doffy was studying on his own to try to find a way to save Law's life (seen by him having his PTSD nightmares triggered after napping after reading a book on Flevance, about the violence and genocide there). History would have been very different. You'd have to push too hard to make Law then have the role in the world that he did in the canon timeline.
    I feel like Law really WAS evil, until Dressrosa. He was the man who did all the helping of the SHs in order to manipulate them, and he was the guy who was totally willing to leave behind the dying children. I think, what actually changed was that he was confronted with the nightmare monster from his childhood when Doflamingo captured him, shot him with the white lead bullets, and put up the bird cage. But when his PTSD was triggered that badly, Luffy was there to literally hold him and comfort him (despite Law constantly fighting that comfort at every turn). As someone with PTSD, I can attest to how easy it is to have an immediate change of feelings for someone who steps up and acts as your comfort in the time when you are being swallowed by that darkness. Seeing that they really are the people they claim to be and are not weak because of their kind hearts, Law started questioning some of his choices at this point; and by the end of Wano, he was able to see a new motive in his world view. He is still not the greatest person, considering he probably could have really helped the people affected by the SMILEs but chose to just leave them behind, like he wanted to leave the kids at Punk Hazard; but being with the SHs for this time that was so emotionally charged for him has him really questioning who he was before and who he should be, especially when people like Blackbeard can even call him out on his ethics with the hearts he turned in just for his own personal gain. Law is definitely an antihero still in the canon world. He's just an antihero that has had his life choices turned upside down.

    I don't think that Law performing the immortality surgery on Doflamingo would be that counterproductive for his goal of killing everybody. There is an argument to be made that Law would be interested in the "D" in his name and why his father told him not to tell anyone which is the very reason why he doesn't share it. He could've done his own research into it or possibly might have heard a similar tale from Doflamingo (Considering the guy does love to talk and would see him have one to one sessions with Law if he's trying to groom him) in similar way to that of how Rosinante told it to Law but more evil and twisted. And he was also impressed with Luffy punching a Celestial Dragon and would've took notice of the fact he has the same initial which would've possibly led him to think it would be better to save Luffy than to just let him die. Like any surgeon, you're gonna need tools when you're operating on killing and would possibly want to use Luffy as a tool (I'm really reaching on this last part)

He MIGHT go and find the rest of the strawhats, becoming their captain and aiming to complete all their dreams again, which may benefit Law in his alliance search but most likely he just remains as mihawks apprentice for the forseeable future, eventually taking over the mantle of worlds strongest swordsman in his later years

    Law wouldn’t betray Doflamingo. Law didn’t want to destroy the world because he’s cruel, but out of anger because the world destroyed everything he loved and trusted (in his own words: “I don’t believe in anything anymore”). What he really wanted was someone he could trust, someone to guide and give him a purpose to live. So he’d probably stay and die for Doflamingo.
    Aside from this, I guess not much would’ve changed. It’s a cool what if.

    Like you said, Law during entire pre timeskip was twisted but he still saved Luffy in Marineford. The reason is simply as he states, he wanted to save a fellow rival. So I think Law would still save Luffy regardless and then you have it, Luffy/Law eventual alliance in Punk Hazard. I can see the events playing out similarly.
    Also, you've a missed a quote from Doflamingo where he states that he never wanted Law to eat the fruit. Regardless, I think Law was fated to have this power so he'd end up having it one way or other.

    Law was only making an alliance with Luffy to kill Kaido because killing Kaido was not the main objective. His main objective was to kill Doflamingo, and that was in the plan of killing Kaido, that is why he chose Kaido. But, when he does not want to do anything to Doffy then maybe he'll join any alliance, and probably he'll choose Bege for killing Big Mom, because Kid was already reluctant to have Apoo in the alliance, I don't think he will agree for Law to be in it.
    So, I think Law would have joined Capone 'Gang' Bege's alliance for killing Big Mom

So he probably would have given the another person the Op-Op, had that person cure Law, and then forced that person to give him immortality. That way he gets both immortality, and Law as his new Corazon

Mihawk and Shanks who are on the same level ish could at least kill one of them because big mom was defeated by Kid and Law who are much weaker than Shanks and Mihawk. Also if Luffy died I would think Shanks would find the Gomu Gomu no mi again and give it to someone he trusts then tell them the secret of it or something. 0:01 I have been saying this for years!!!!
    Law will be luffy’s greatest villain: we’ve seen luffy save countless irredeemable characters with his personality, luck, and possibly a bit of luck from his DF; but we’ve yet to see luffy lose someone to the world and I don’t mean via donut.
    Law is a close friend of Luffy; we’ve seen villains like croc and Bon clay turncoat, but we’ve never seen a friend of luffy’s turncoat.
    Now how could law come to turncoat? Quite simply: BB kills Bepo or possibly even most or all of Law’s crew; Law-a D clan member, and user of the broken broken no mi DF-then uses his room to teleport BB’s heart into his hand before squishing it; or maybe Law can steal BB’s DF powers and give them to himself using his Ope ope no Mi. BB’s crew-in aww of Law’s brutal & overwhelming DF-immediately side with Law giving him a crew capable of competing with the strawhats and WG. Now we only need some narrative that puts Law at odds with luffy and the WG? Oh: what if Law resolves to change the horrid world that’s taken his most beloved friends unjustly (Rosinante and Bepo) and in his initial rage Law comes to blows with a certain Garp-also looking to take on BB, but instead met with an angry Law that he has no intention of taking it easy on-defeating the marine hero and fully committing to his new “evil” persona
    Boom we then have 2 worst Gen pirates-that are equally broken in DF power- vying for the end game.
    Honestly I think Oda could write it so that law is valiant and just in his thinking and still be opposed to Luffy
