The most notable example of this is the whole bomb thing, Crocodile tells Vivi about it not expecting her to actually find it, but if she somehow does, the bomb is on a timer and is too heavy to actually move it a safe distance away before it goes off. On top of Crocodile just giving Vivi and the Straw Hat Pirates false hope that they could actually do something about this, it helps keep them distracted while he goes to the crypt and has Robin read the Poneglyphs. Of course, Pell does end up showing up and carrying the bomb away, seemingly sacrificing himself in the process, but I view that as a "evil cannot comprehend good" moment; he didn't account for that because to him, why would anyone throw away their life for someone else. Hi Liam, just wanted to mention for the Lucci video (great series already!) - I think he just can’t be analyzed in that way without putting spotlight Spandam. Those two combined are my fav One Piece Arc antagonists because they represent two total different sides of the same coin!
I started watching One Piece on a Catalan TV channel. At that time, they eventually stopped airing it after Crocodile defeated Luffy for the first time. As a kid, I spent a long time believing that Crocodile was such a badass that he actually defeated the main character and ended the show for good right then and there. Kuro was underrated: he drove Luffy to the point of exhaustion (and blood loss) and he was self-admitted out of practice yet still managed to troll him mid-battle.
@@saparapatepete East Blue in general was foreshadowing the Grand Line: Captain Axe-Hand Morgan and Nezumi represented Corrupted Marines, Buggy Represented Opposing Devil Fruits, Kuro was the foreshadowing of Superhuman Techniques aka the Six Powers, Don Krieg was the poster child of relying on tricks and numbers and even despite how strong he was he was insignificant in the Grand Line, Arlong and the Fishmen represented other races/cultures and their struggles/prejudices, and Loguetown was the epic finale of crossovers that resulted in lore drops, info, and future allies/enemies.
I'd like to disagree a bit on your line "Villain's are done after being defeated by Luffy" Buggy - Made a Warlord, then a Yonko Wapol - Made a New Metal Alloy which lead to him becoming King Again, then saves Vivi Crocodile - A Leader of Cross Guild Caesar - Joins up with Bege, then Creates New Madds with Judge Katakuri - New Captain of the Big Mom Pirates Moria - Challenged and Emperor of the Sea for his Nakama Lucci - Currently Fighting Zoro as a reinstated CP0 Bon Clay - Best Buddy Now No Longer Active but may come back: Doflamingo (In person for now) Big Mom (Probably Survived Volcano) No longer Active, Morgans, Kuro, Arlong, Krieg, Hody, Kaido, Jack, So it's about 50/50, but many of the main antagonists end up picking themselves back up.
On the note that fighting Luffy changes people, Doffy had a cover page of him helping a bird from a fallen tree by giving it a comfortable spot with his cape. (Chapter 1083) also he puts a band-aid on the birds head idk if that's significant.
Crcodile coming out of Impel Down in his clothes shows that its not just an outfit for him. It’s more akin to a uniform, a statement that he is above you simply by what he wears. A General isn’t a General without his uniform, and just by looking at him does he make this statement.
Crocodile is that serious villain they introduce to change the tone for a series, he's methodical, he's cunning, he's treated and displayed as a hill for the strawhats to overcome. Another example of this type of character is Thawn in the *Star Wars rebels* everytime he fought the rebels, he overcame them due to his strategy and cunning and because of his ruthlessness and ability to predict their actions he was able to rob them of any meaningful victory
The warlord system is also a very clear leftover from the original intention behind how shorter and "simpler" One Piece was meant to be "Look! There's this convenient number of 7 really strong pirates who have sided with the world government and once they get defeated, Luffy is the king of the pirates! One of them is even directly tied to the dream of one of our main characters, isn't that convenient? And look, here he is, in chapter 49! Wow what a coincidence!" And then Oda eventually decided to give the world more nuance and the warlords turned from being bossfights into being characters
Dang this gave me old school GrandLineReview vibes. I loved it it reminded me of the one piece 101 videos but with your new charisma and attitude! Keep up the great work!
Fantastic breakdown, one of your better videos mate! Great stuff! I think this is bang on, Crocodile is one of my favourite characters in One Piece and this does him justice.
Doflamingo is NOT a more effective villain than Crocodile, strictly for one specific reason: Zero Tension Never once, in the entire Dressrosa arc (and that's a long @$$ arc) do I ever feel like Luffy is going to lose to Doffy. The second Luffy puts up his foot to protect Law and take over that fight, all tension evaporates as I'm just waiting for Luffy to put the final nail in Doffy's coffin. Crocodile was a threat that I honestly did not know how Luffy would overcome. Even after he discovered Croc's weakness to water, it seemed like he was able to absorb it anyway, and Luffy legitimately almost dies THREE TIMES fighting him. It was an absolute nail-biting conclusion. The same cannot be said for his fight with Doffy. At that point in the story, Luffy had already defeated two warlords, and that was BEFORE his two years of training with Reyleigh, and since we had yet to see him go all out and be pushed to his limits since the time skip, I knew we were just waiting for him to pull whatever new movement had in his arsenal and waist his @$$, which is exactly what happened. I know Oda tried REALLY hard to still make Doffy seem like a threat by introducing "awakened Devil Fruit powers" (I'm sorry, it STILL sounds corny to me) and having Luffy's haki run out, but it all just comes across superfluous padding that unessesarily drags the fight out even longer than it needed to be, and it was already long as heck.
My favorite One Piece villain getting some serious recognition ❤ He was the big bad the first time I came into OP, and his mark never left. A video on Arlong or Doffy would be dope, but ill take any 😂
If water is Croc's weakness then why did Luffy's bite attack fail? The teeth and the inside of the mouth are wet so shouldn't Luffy's bite attack have actually worked?
Crocodile is the Frieza of the One Piece world. He starts off as the big bad that must be taken down no matter what. Eventually turned into an unintentional ally but may become an obstacle in the way of Luffy once again to become the King of the Pirates. And the next villain that we should look at next is Foxy, the polar opposite of Crocodile.
Chapter 1108: “Oh world, answer me” On the colorful page, Nami, Robin, Hancock, and other girls are enjoying a drink together. Caribou reveals that he has valuable information and intends to share it with Tetch. Dory and Broggy come to the rescue of Franky and his group, saving them from the brutality of the Marines. Vegapunk urges Luffy and Sanji to escape without him, entrusting them with Bonnie's protection. Meanwhile, Saturn reveals a new form and launches an attack on Luffy, Sanji, and Vegapunk. Kizaru seriously injures Vegapunk during the confrontation. At a crucial moment, Luffy intervenes, stopping both Saturn and Kizaru at the same time to allow Sanji and Vegapunk to escape. The chapter concludes with a message from Vegabank addressed to the whole world.
Next villain should be one from the east blue like Kuro or Arlong, especially Arlong since he is the introduction to the 'one piece world's' main problem caused by the world government "slavery".
Please do Moria! You rag on him a LOT but there are a ton of points people tend to gloss over. Happy to help in that regard and he’s not even one of my favorite villains, but I think he deserves a fair shake.
I “liked” Crocodile because he was so cruel; anytime he offered someone a choice or a chance, there was always a hook buried in it, some trick that meant to guarantee the worst possible outcome. It wasn’t just that he was so calculating, it was that he was so cruel while doing so.
I have to admit, I like that you’re doing this. This should be fun to see where every main villain from One Piece ranks. If I may throw a war spear in the ring, I would like to see you do Don Krieg next. With no devil fruit, Fishman genetics, or direct cyborg implants (but admittedly a lot of foul play), he almost killed Luffy (even though he technically lost the fight). Plus his gear was pretty sick.
Croco boy is still one of my favorite villains that “Mugiwara” in Impel Down…. Plus I see him as the first villain that sets up how crazy BB will be. Crocodile and Doffy were schemers who plans would have worked if not for being put on Luffys direct path by a princess (Vivi and Law).
Douglas Vs Crocodile ended in a draw because they were fighting near a school zone and as soon as the fight started, they were scolded by the local authorities and were forced to stop fighting, thus ending in a draw thats my headcanon.
Perharps vegapunk created it but he was so weak that he deemed it as a failure blaming his own incompetence where its just that the original baggy is too week
I think MOST of Luffys enemies are not done after being defeated. Only Hordy, Arlong and Don Krieg were done for i believe, and maybe Donflamingo, but hes coming back for sure. even Captain Black still sails about. Buggy just got bigger from it, CP9 rose in rank, Jacko joined the marines as Hinas simp, Alvita sails with Buggy, Ceasar joined up with Judge, Enel found a new army, Katakuri is still the second in command. Even Moria was still doing his thing. Oh and Kaido and Big Mom might be dead, but probably not. The Lord of the Coast is probably still eating peoples arms.
I've loved crocodile since I was little kid watching the 4kidz dub 20 years ago 😭❤ to this day, luffy defeating him is one of my favorite moments in the anime
Crocodile knows about the battleship, not the "ancient weapon". He got mixed information and half truths. The government would be mad because it's already meantioned it was a COUNTER, meaning it's from the WG side and now the Ancient Kingdom, that's how we know.
This might be insanity, but I never understood the Alabasta arcs appreciation. I think it is a strong A tier with some great moments, but Alabasta and Crocodile and never really pushed into that S tier for me. (I bring up Alabasta as an arc because villians define their story arc). Everything Crocodile did was good, good character work and writing, but never pushed into fantastic for me. Enel, Arlong, and Spandam (I love that character architype) make for the only S tier villians I’d put for early One Piece. Where Enel sharing Luffy’s dream mentality, but the dream being hollow is much more interesting to me, and Arlong’s hatred was so real and intense on a level not matched by really any other character. I do agree that Crocodile after Alabasta becomes an S tier with Marineford and Cross Guild but I don’t think he counts as a villian at that point
I see some people in the comments saying that crocodile suffers from being an early villain and being weaker than it should. But I honestly don't think this is true for Crocodile. He was a force of nature, even as a "retired" pirate he was beaten the shit out of everyone in his way, and only lost because Luffy had quite literally God on his side. Crocodile put the straw hats down more times than Kaido, and not only the straw hats, as he is able to easily beat Robin and the royal guards as well. He display a level of power that we will only see again in Enel, and he is almost a God. Even retired and without Haki, Crocs with the Cross Guild could probably run the ones against CP9. (That would be a really cool history to watch). And when we see him again, he is just facing everyone in Marineford, from random figurants all the way up to Akainu. Crocodile has always been a menace.
Crocodile literally keep me watching OP and putting it as the best, he made Alabasta so interesting and even after years he just keep getting better. There is no other villain that is as good as him in OP imo
What makes Crocodile the best for me is that the Alabaster arc and his role as a villain don't feel over played or dragged out. While on paper Don Flamingo is great, his arc is absolutely not well paced. It literally made me quit one piece and I know I wasn't the only one that stopped one piece for a time due to that. I never heard anyone say that about crocodile or alabasta. Quite the opposite, including in this video rhe critique is "Well we didn't get more of him" and that makes him stand above the rest.
I recently had a discussion with a friend who loves this character and he basically compared crocodile to a James Bond villain and it is so accurate. They have the style, the various henchmen, a great aesthetic and the ingenious plan to take over the world
Crocodile will keep Crocodiling... just wait... he may fight Black Beard as he still has to fight White Beard... so does Black Beard have the inherited Will of Whitebead
Crocodile really underestimated Buggy who have an army of ex-Impel Down inmates, all stronger than him yet completely loyal and devoted, and made them motivated that Cross Guild shall find Laugh Tale and claim the One Piece with Crocodile and Mihawk having no choice but to go with it. If the two leave, they'd be seen as cowards, which Big News Morgans would publicize it on the newspapers, and the two ex-Warlords have their own pride and won't let any slight to their honor go.
Foxy, the Silver Fox, time for the most underrated villain (for good reason) to get his in depth analysis. We started with the top of the top, now let’s look at the bottom of the bottom.
I don't think crocodile is weaker than he needs to be, I think the rest of one piece is way stronger than it needs to be. I know power creep is standard for these kinds of franchises but Oda has handled it really poorly and it went from fun pirate fantasy to less fun haki power number simulator
Dude. Your videos are maybe the best content I’ve seen on UA-cam. They are visually stunning and really immersive. But the most important part (for me) is that you put your soul into them. This is how it looks when somebody is doing something they love from the bottom of their heart. Insanely inspiring. Thank you 🙏
Speaking of Crocodile when Luffy finally does defeat him it's one of my personal favorite moments in the anime with the sympathy music playing as Luffy goes Gum Gum Storm. To me it's up with with Jet Gatlin vs Rob Lucci.
Crocodile got me truly invested into One Piece all those years back when I watched the show as a kid and he to this day is still my favorite character. I am always over the moon every time Oda decides to bring him back. Also, as a dog lover myself, the puppy cover is so cute when I saw it for the first time I was fighting the tears.
What’s interesting is that Doflamingo is basically a successful Crocodile, he was able to control Dressrosa like Crocodile wanted to control Alabasta. But Doflamingo didn’t really move higher from that status, whereas I think Crocodile would have the ambition to continue conquering the world.

Kuro was underrated: he drove Luffy to the point of exhaustion (and blood loss) and he was self-admitted out of practice yet still managed to troll him mid-battle.
I mean, after crocodile, kuro pales too much. Planning wise crocodile is way better. But yeah, kuro was decent
I think Kuro was an early prototype for villains that are more cunning like Crocodile or Donflamingo
The more you know about the sea...
Luffy goes on to know as little as possible about the sea
14:03 "A truly great villain needs to satisfy one more criteria"
i honestly thought he was going to talk about the laugh
I'd like to disagree a bit on your line "Villain's are done after being defeated by Luffy"
Buggy - Made a Warlord, then a Yonko
Wapol - Made a New Metal Alloy which lead to him becoming King Again, then saves Vivi
Crocodile - A Leader of Cross Guild
Caesar - Joins up with Bege, then Creates New Madds with Judge
Katakuri - New Captain of the Big Mom Pirates
Moria - Challenged and Emperor of the Sea for his Nakama
Lucci - Currently Fighting Zoro as a reinstated CP0
Bon Clay - Best Buddy Now
No Longer Active but may come back: Doflamingo (In person for now) Big Mom (Probably Survived Volcano)
No longer Active, Morgans, Kuro, Arlong, Krieg, Hody, Kaido, Jack,
So it's about 50/50, but many of the main antagonists end up picking themselves back up.
On the note that fighting Luffy changes people, Doffy had a cover page of him helping a bird from a fallen tree by giving it a comfortable spot with his cape. (Chapter 1083)
also he puts a band-aid on the birds head idk if that's significant.
I love that at 2:59 there’s just a casual Joseph Joestar mourning Caesar
Arlong walked so crocodile could run
crocodile walked so that arlong could crawl
croc walked all over arlong
@@sorry987654321do not disrespect the blue haki
The warlord system is also a very clear leftover from the original intention behind how shorter and "simpler" One Piece was meant to be
"Look! There's this convenient number of 7 really strong pirates who have sided with the world government and once they get defeated, Luffy is the king of the pirates! One of them is even directly tied to the dream of one of our main characters, isn't that convenient? And look, here he is, in chapter 49! Wow what a coincidence!"
And then Oda eventually decided to give the world more nuance and the warlords turned from being bossfights into being characters
Dang this gave me old school GrandLineReview vibes. I loved it it reminded me of the one piece 101 videos but with your new charisma and attitude! Keep up the great work!
Fantastic breakdown, one of your better videos mate! Great stuff! I think this is bang on, Crocodile is one of my favourite characters in One Piece and this does him justice.
lmao the fucking Jojo Caesar moment in the background art for the underground chamber
Its like Crocodile is Gold standard of villain but we can’t forget Dofy is the dimond of villain world
Crocodile walked so Doffy could run.
nah, crocodile is way better than flamingo.
alao the donquichotte family is embarresing and way to prominent in the arc.
Croc and Dofy are my favorite villains , even more than the Emperors thus far (other than Blackbeard)
@@FranzFerdinantIItf
Doflamingo is NOT a more effective villain than Crocodile, strictly for one specific reason:
Zero Tension
Never once, in the entire Dressrosa arc (and that's a long @$$ arc) do I ever feel like Luffy is going to lose to Doffy.
A video on Arlong or Doffy would be dope, but ill take any 😂
You know that the day is going to be good when Liam posts a video about your all time favourite One Piece villain
If water is Croc's weakness then why did Luffy's bite attack fail?
The teeth and the inside of the mouth are wet so shouldn't Luffy's bite attack have actually worked?
And maybe The Mother Luffy NEEDED ...
With big news Morgan as the ideal father
@@christopheranderson4328 Only if that was the way, fluffy would have been the Pirate King already.

Drinking game every time the Ozzie says Crocodile?
BTW...That's 113 times
Not to mention that Crocodile *IS* Luffy's mom 🤨
Meff
Oh, I didn't know that Crocodile had hidden a bomb in Alabama^^
Oda had to nerf Crocodile cuz if he was one of the top fighters and with his intelligence he would've been the king of the pirates lol
3:22. Ayooo??? (A low blow with a Jojo reference in the back ground haha)
Chapter 1108: “Oh world, answer me”
On the colorful page, Nami, Robin, Hancock, and other girls are enjoying a drink together.
12:44 Thanks, Liam. You made me try Googling Crocodile drawn JJBA-style. I now hope a talented artist out there decides to do it.
Douglas Vs Crocodile ended in a draw because they were fighting near a school zone and as soon as the fight started, they were scolded by the local authorities and were forced to stop fighting, thus ending in a draw
thats my headcanon.
Crocodile feels like a seinen character trapped in a shounen franchise, which is hilarious
Completely unrelated to this video, but I am really sad we didn't get a buggy seraphim.
Buggy is too powerfull, even Vegapunk couldn't copy a fraction of his power

Hello mr internet man
I would be very very happy if you would take the time to make a Kaido video next
He is my favourite dragon :)
Make another video on Doflamingo,
he is the coolest villain in One piece and i Even love him the most after Aizen in all of anime.
They have the style, the various henchmen, a great aesthetic and the ingenious plan to take over the world
Grandline review is talking about geography!?
Is Tekking101 proud of Grandline Review or is a turf war about to start?
I think Liam should do more series.
Wealth crocodile. Fame buggy. Power Mihawk. Together cross guild are the pirate king
I've always preached that Croc had Luffy dead to rights 3 times and got done obviously by plot armor
Crocodile is essential since Luffy needs to confront both his parents before the end of the story.
I wish we got to know is he stronger now after the time skip.
Ps. My favorite One Piece character. Glad he's in S tier.
Dude. Your videos are maybe the best content I’ve seen on UA-cam. They are visually stunning and really immersive. But the most important part (for me) is that you put your soul into them. This is how it looks when somebody is doing something they love from the bottom of their heart. Insanely inspiring. Thank you 🙏
Since you've done Crocodile and focused part of the video on Impel Down, why not do a video on Magellan?
Dont agree with some of your Marineford Crocodile moment points but totally agree that he really is one of the best villains of the entire story!
Love this series Liam. Can't wait for the Foxy video!
Speaking of Crocodile when Luffy finally does defeat him it's one of my personal favorite moments in the anime with the sympathy music playing as Luffy goes Gum Gum Storm. To me it's up with with Jet Gatlin vs Rob Lucci.

I love the videos and I hope your day was great. Keep up the great work.
I remember the slow building hype reading weekly back in impel down, aka the nakama second hand store
I love this video, crocodile is my favorite. I always thought oda was saving his back story for a later reveal like he did kuma.

1:15 I just had an exam today 😭😭😭😭😭
Personal opinion though, But Crocodile is the Aizen of One piece
Alabasta is still my favourite arc after all these years largely thanks to croco-boy
Stretching a tier list video, into an entire series, is exactly the type of big brain move I would expect from you Liam.
Foxy is clearly the gold standard.
Young crocodile look like dragom
Crocodile post Alabasta > Crocodile During Alaabasta
What’s interesting is that Doflamingo is basically a successful Crocodile, he was able to control Dressrosa like Crocodile wanted to control Alabasta. But Doflamingo didn’t really move higher from that status, whereas I think Crocodile would have the ambition to continue conquering the world.
