    Hi
    It turns gorgeous
    What kind of paint did you use to make it gold? Does it get tarnished later on?

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  7 місяців тому +3

      Thank you! There are a few things you can use such a gold colored oil based paint pen, Liquid Leaf, gold spray paint, and gold mica mixed in with a little bit gloss sealer. They do not tarnish.

      Thanks Laura! I'm going to try building crystals with alum like Petra shows how to in her video from a while back and see how that goes.

      Thank you! It's definitely one of my favorite pieces that I've made. It's hanging in my room until the right buyer comes along as it's super heavy and substantial in size and shipping would cost a pretty penny, but if I never sell it, I won't be disappointed in any event 😉

    How to keep a borax crystal from dehydrating and turning white?

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  5 місяців тому +2

      You need to coat it very well with a sealant a few times.

    is there some alternatives of pipe cleaners?

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  9 місяців тому +4

      Yes, you can make borax crystals without pipe cleaners. The borax just needs something to grab on to - so the more textured a surface, the better. You can use cotton balls, pine cones, and even books just to name a few.

    Wonderful, and good to know that molds can be made from them, at least that's what I heard, but now I wonder how they would do inside resin? Also, do you think the longer fuzzy type pipecleaners would produce larger crystals? Hmmm...might be experiment time at my house. lol My only problem with this video is I had trouble hearing you, even on our work computer with the volume turned all the way up. Not a huge deal, since you show everything well, but thought I'd mention so maybe you could yell...or something. lol

    • @RinirocksArtistry

      I will try and speak up in the next video 😂
      I would spray seal them first and then coat with resin.

  • @cricketandfriends
    @cricketandfriends 2 роки тому +2

    I just have one question. If you pour resin over the crystals and have them completely covered, do they lose their sparkle?

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  2 роки тому +2

      If fully submerged they do. Just make sure to spay seal them with a a lacquer first and then drizzle resin over them. I also finish off with Diamond dust for extra sparkle!

    The chunks are there because you’re going into the borax box with a wet spoon .But I like this video it is very helpful

    Have you tried using alcohol ink to color your borax water?

    • @RinirocksArtistry
      @RinirocksArtistry  3 роки тому +1

      Yes. I also used acrylic ink and didn't like it as it didn't blend well.

      I know this comment is 3 years old, but oh well maybe you'll see it or it'll help someone else. I was spending so much money on food coloring because you gotta use a lot especially if you want dark colored crystals. I ended up switching to RIT fabric dye. The colors are so much more vibrant. And RIT 8oz bottles last a good while.

      Once they are thoroughly sealed with a spray varnish they are very sturdy. You can then use them in your resin art. Have a Happy New Year!
