Longines is a popular watchmaker that has the world’s oldest registered trademark. Hardcore history there. So what happens when these two brands collaborate? Well, they make a watch. The Longines Heritage Classic Limited Edition for Hodinkee to be more exact.

You forgot to mention how SMOOTH this watch winds. Everyone talks about Rolex and butter smooth winding but with two Rolex watches in hand, this longines was the smoothest winding watch I’ve ever owned.

Hahaha it definitely surprised the hell out of me.
A Week on Wrist episode on Rolex Datejust by Hodinkee got me into watches. I used to spend over 6 hours a day reading articles from Hodinkee, Deployant, SJX, Worn & Wound, etc. during my early years into this hobby. I'm an architect, watches gave me unique perspectives on design and history.

Hodinkee certainly reinforced my love of watches again and again over the years. The "Watch Snob" column on Ask Men as well. Hodinkee can be a bit long winded, which is a bit annoying. But watch people are detail oriented by nature. I try and take in opinions from all over the watch community, then form my own.
I'm absolutely stoked for you that the biggest of big watch resources has acknowledged your work. Keep up the good work!

I feel this Longines would have been better with a polished case. Otherwise even the regular version is very nice

I can understand your emotional connection to Hoodinkee and how flattering it must be to get this watch as a gift. That said, this special addition is just a mess, in my view. I recommend the IDGuy for a wonderful analysis.
I will be getting the original version. I have studied the design of this watch in great detail. From the crosshairs to the rotated numerals to the proportions and colors, this comes as close to perfection as I've ever seen. And it's a historical reissue, so it should be at least kind of close to the original. Seen in person, especially with the black leather strap, the dial has a chilly formality. Switch to a blue denim strap (included) and the watch becomes cheerful and chic.

Oh, for a moment, I was going to say Grand Seiko put a 20mm lug width on the White Birch but I looked it up and they went all the way up to 22mm. That explains why the White Birch it looks so bulky (IMHO) but at least it is a more standard even number width.
