Doesn't require the addition of liquid
You're assuming you have to buy a new tank every single bag of grapes. The co2 canisters are pretty cheap, and you can exchange empty ones for credit. The main purchase is a one time buy and is a pretty good multi tasker. So it's 50 bucks one time, and then 50 cents extra per bag of grapes.
You cant tell me people wouldn't buy larger, more extravagant things to do this. I already see party people and restaurants buying co2 by the gallon.o3o
But i see your point. However, "Pretty cheap" isn't everywhere, and they certainly dont sell these things at wal mart c:
If your house ever catches on fire trust me you got yourself a perfectly good fire extinguisher with that soda maker!
Carbonated bangga is good too!
Great tip for those of us in the culinary field. I work fine dining so I have two of those isi. Great tip
i like this. i like this alot. thanks chow, unlike most, i appreciate ya'll!
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen.
mmm sounds tasty
I don't know about shooting two balls down my throat...hey wait a second...ICWUDT Chow...
wow. a great tip. i wasnt expecting it from chow:P
A GFS would have the refills, and they're about 6 bucks for 10. You can probably get a larger pack for a better cost per unit too.
You certainly can get fancy siphons, and people probably would. However if you want to play around with them, there seems to be quite a few that are $50 on amazon. I would say if a person made a use for it, it's not a bad purchase.
Frozen grapes are awesome anyway. They taste like non-alcoholic wine.
I think he was referring to fresh ones, which aren't sold in most regular super markets unless you live in an upper middle class neighborhood.
Even then they don't keep very long at all.
well im not counting the initial syphon as part of the price, as a lot of people already have one, and if you dont, i doubt youd buy it just to do this. so a few like 25 cent charges and some grapes, i dont see 50 dollars. however withthe 20 pound tank and such i have a few hobbies which i need that stuff, i have 20lb tanks of like co2, n20, argon, etc lol
puede ser en sifon de soda? o solo de crema?
a 20lb bottle isnt all that big, and remember i said theres a ton of uses for a tank of co2, plus even with the syphon, chances are youd be buying the syphon to actually use normally, and the grapes would be a fun thing to do with your already being used syphon, and ive seen disposable co2 chargers go for 25 cents a piece, so i seirously dont know how you get 50 dollars out of any of this.
dude, its fairly easy to get the tank for free, plus i use co2 for lots of things, and so does a lot of people with a few hobbies, and you can get a empty tank for free for fairly cheap, yeah buying the tank might be that much, but you can get it refilled for 50 cents a pound, plus like a 5 dollar fee, so youll be in business for 15 bucks for 20 pounds of co2. and having a couple refilable small ones, is an investment worth it cause youll use them again.
thats really cool. i wonder if it works with other fruit.
This dude and his whipping siphon, seriously
You know...you could just pop some frozen fruit into pop. That makes fruit fizzy
I've seen it done with strawberries, so I think so!
Yes, I did know that.
I never normally use 2 cartridges for making whipped cream I use 1 which is more than sufficient enough
Hi
Technically, the bottle is multiuse, so you won't be spending 50 dollars per batch. It would probably be a good investment if you like making your own soda anyways.
How much do grapes cost in your town?
i always substitute all CHOW liquid for Consume.
hi
Can I do it with soda stream?
a lot of people do, atleast anyone whos in the kitchen a lot
great tip. now to buy a 500 dollar carbonated machine thing which i'll be using once, which will turn out horribly and perhaps catching the house on fire.
I'd watch the doritto consumme video rather than get insurance thank you very much
I think its meant for like dinner parties. And I'm only 14 but I'm sure an to an adult with a salary 25 bucks isn't too bad
"Just buy a 20 pound tank"
For one night's worth the grapes? That defeats the whole purpose of using the cheap, disposable co2 containers. A 20 pound bottle can cost upwards of 100 dollars D:
Even paintball gun style CO2 containers are 20-25 bucks a pop. And considering the cost of refillable containers, you're saving, at most, ten dollars.
So 40 dollars and a 20 pound tank you're never going to fully use, or 50 dollars for the one time you're ever going to make fizzy grapes. :/
Didnt Chow do this already 3 years ago?
It would cost the average person over 50 dollars to do a single bag of grapes with individual CO2 cartridges, including all the costs of course.
Okay
what if you used ginger ale?
I think this fruit is super bubbly already
Aint nobody got time f'dat!
Yet another sign of the apocalypse.
inb4 carbonated consomme
Well technically you'll be spending a few dollars on fizzy grapes, you'll be spending more than that to have something to make fizzy fruit and home-made instant whipped cream. If you have this device already it's a decent tip.
"You'd spending less than $50"
Actually you'd probably be spending just over 50 dollars, per bag of grapes :/
The ONLY way this is anything but frivolously expensive is if you use one for a drink, and JUST one lol.
does this work in a sodastream?
yeah i was kind of joking :P
can i make carbonated Dorito consomme
What about doing this; which I'm going to try later today. Get a container I'm going to use a empty bottle and get a bottle of sparking water, you can get this very cheap I buy the 18p bottle. Add the grapes to your container and fill with fruit. Add the sparkling water, shake and leave leave closed in your fridge.
It should work no? I'll let you guys know how it goes.
How did it go?? It's been a month
alicia ned
Didn't turn out well, grapes were carbonated but they lost their fizz very quickly. I think this method is better because those canisters maybe produce more pressure. I'm going to give it another go but try room temp and freezer and see which is better.
+Gunzee how did that other method go
How much does CO2 cost in your town?
Did you know that consomme could be created with doritos?
Yea man its for that southwestern kick
DORITOS CONSOMME IS A REALLY ANNOYING JOKE NOW GUYS
Yeah but those storebought CO2 cartridges are not. So it's going to cost you 50 dollars for the first batch, and then 30 for the seccond c:
Licure?
CO2 is flammable, you just have to fenagle it is all.
And by fenagle i mean overpower with fire lol.
how would oyu spend over 50 bucks for a bag of grapes?
I've already told you how. Buying disposable cartridges and the rest of the things necessary pushes the price that high. Of course, this is assuming you're buying some good ass grapes to begin with :P.
Your methods, while ideal, are highly unlikely to be done by the average man looking to create some fizzy f*ck'n grapes lol.
Not like you could totally use the canister for tons and tons of other things....
mhm mhm cuz everyone has one at home.....
He looks a little like the guy that plays Sherlock
In all seriousness, $50 for fizzy grapes. I'm good...
The comment you replied to was describing how it didn't cost $50
So if you want to do this every day, you're out 25 bucks c:
Buying a tank of CO2 is expensive, and it'd be a hassle to find an EMPTY tank to fill up to begin with. And remember, this is all for one batch of fizzy grapes you'll probably make once A YEAR.
You shouldn't need an 'investment' to do something as silly as this. It's why it's best to just pay the fifty dollars overall instead of having to go up and beyond the call of duty just to prepare for it.
Besides, where the hell you gonna keep that 20lb bottle? xD
Can you say IED!
this is good, but i prefer carbonated doritos consomme
brb eating a bowl full of carbonated grapes in under two minutes. I'm really going to enjoy shoving this shit down my throat.
no
How about you say fuck that, take the N20 chargers and inhale them. There, done.
yeah you know, since everybody has a few fresh oysters hanging around in their kitchens...
Why per bag? The bottle is reusable.
I suppose it'd be great for party...mehh.
The bottle is reusable... The cost drops every time you do it.
What's a carbonated fruit?
not at all, co2 is almost free lol, just buy a 20 pound tank, you can get co2 cartridges you can refill yourself
LOL i was coming here to make that same comment
A few dollars on fizzy grapes? Still not worth it. I can let grapes expire and they will have the same effect :P
Lickuer?
The bottle with the nozzle runs you down $30 and CO2 cartridges can be purchased for a few dollars. You'd spending less than $50 and there is no way it could catch your house on fire. Get your facts straight before you complain.
3 bucks.
At least you're not like those people who just say "LOL WRONG BITCH"
the rubbery icey starchy texture of the frozen skin is cringeworthy though
Or just add dry ice in a cooler and place your fruit inside, wrap with plastic wrap and wait for a few hours....
How about you use a simple checklist before posting videos - try getting 3 out of 4.
- Useful
- Different/innovative
- Easily replicable by the average cooking wannabe Joe in his kitchen
- Cost-efficient (30% above what the dish/preparation should normally cost is a good metric)
Yup, this one is different/innovative. But that's pretty much it.
he's named heimerdinger?
CO2 isn't even flammable to begin with....and neither is the metal that the whipping siphon is made of.
Not a lot of people who spend time in the kitchen have siphons. I'd suspect the demographics of those who do tend to be middle class, yuppies, and likely white.
wtf
Good tip, but I just imagine Demi Moore getting high on this...
What are you talking about?
Things the 1% spends money on.
Look at the comment I replied to, then you'll get it.
Your not, your injecting it with CO2.
Certainly redeemed yourselves after the bacon/dorm room fiasco,,,
btw fill the container with a liquid...of an alcoholic nature. Wine, beer, vodka...everclear...
it's for rich white people mmkay
Heimerdinger? Haha you're never getting buffed enjoy your 2 turrets and useless ultimate.
This looks like a waste of time
