I have, it turns up the charcoal flavor to 11, actually does that with all charcoal barrel aged liquors like some tequilas. Vodka, and heavy-surup liquors like Jager were the only ones that weren't horrible, but only if you like those in the first place. Up side: you can get a good buzz on 1/4th the amount.
I had an old soda stream and it would make this weird like fart noise whenever it reached the amount if carbonation that was standard in a soda. Surprised they dont still do that
I decided to buy the ISI brand instead. It is a stainless steel canister (some are glass as seen in old movies where they add soda to a drink in a glass). You can buy a small box or a big case of cartridges and you only add water to the bottle. Release the capsule CO2 by screwing it on the lid, remove the capsule, shake the bottle, and squirt into any glass that can have ice, bought or homemade syrups, or whatever you want to fizz that is already in your mug or glass. I'm not much of a pop/soda drinker but do get a craving and can make a bottle instantly. The canister stays in the fridge even when empty so it is always cold and ready to go. What I like is everybody can have their own choice by adding the flavor they want in their glass and carbonating that. So you add syrup like Root Beer into a tall glass, spritz in some carbonated water, and add milk from the fridge and you get a float. You can even add vanilla ice cream to that. I also bought the same brand that has a slightly different bottle and nozzle to make whipping cream instantly, with different cartridges. You can get creative with the whipping cream mix though, but so simple to shake and dispense whipping cream just like those bottles you can buy. Lots of UA-cam videos on the different systems for making sodas and whipped cream in case someone is interested in comparing. Now I'm going to watch Tyler do some disgusting things with this machine.

Carbonated Apple juice is NOT that weird. When I lived in Germany I saw it everywhere, they have a brand called Appletiser, that is a Sparkling Apple juice that is just as normal as anything else. In Germany they also have carbonated orange juice as well. They have a LOT of carbonated drinks that someone from America wouldn't ever think as something that would or should be carbonated. lol

Love him. He’s the kid that puts things into wall sockets just to see what happens. If he was little, we’d fear for his safety. But since he’s an adult, we watch all his videos in amusement and wonder. 😁
Carbonated water and juice are way more popular in other countries. Everyone in the US only seems to know about mainstream American sodas. When I lived in Germany, I would frequently enjoy Apfelschorle or other simple fizzy drinks. You can buy Sidral Mundet, a Mexican Apple Soda, at most grocery stores now. With the soda stream, you are better off carbonating freezing cold tap water and mixing in some fruit juice of your liking. The concentration of other components will almost always cause a violent reaction when gas is introduced.
One of the restaurant/bars I worked at, we used to make our own draft cocktails, some carbonated and some just pushed through draft with nitrogen. Honestly it's fairly easy and super accessible given the rise of homebrewing beer, there is most likely a store near you that has all the equipment you'd need. Initial startup cost is a little higher, but not by much actually. Where these smaller units fall short is the gas - Soda Stream charges you 15$ to exchange a cylinder plus 15$ shipping (2-3 canisters is 7.50$ and 4 at a time is free shipping). These canisters are 14.5oz of CO2 per can as well. So even if you get 4 canisters at a time to avoid shipping costs, you are looking at 60$ for 3.6lbs of CO2. A local store that supplies gases will fill a 5lb cylinder of CO2 for about 15$. So yeah you are paying anywhere from 5-10x the price of gas using SodaStream canisters depending on how many you buy at once. The kicker though is the syrups. Even if you get the BiB (Bag in a Box) cases that restaurants use either online or from Bernicks or something - it's still nearly the same cost as buying 2ltrs bottles from a grocery store per liter. As we discussed above - the gas is actually cheap, the main cost is the syrup plus the initial equipment cost. The only way to try and compete with Coke or Pepsi is to make a lot at once, and you're just not gonna beat them at that. The only advantage you will ever get by attempting to make 2.5gal or 5gal kegs (best sizes for at home carbonation) is that you can make things other than sodas. Which Tyler showed you can do even with these smaller commercial units, you just get hosed on paying SodaStream on the gas canisters. So all in all, unless you want to make sparkling ciders, sparkling cocktails etc, there is no reason to buy a product like this.
ah yes apfelschorle, i miss that, every time we go to germany we take like 6 6-packs of 2 liter bottles of apfelschorle home. but not because of corona we aint going to germany anymore sadly.
Carbonating soda that is already made is hard. It fizzes a LOT more while carbonating and can make a big mess to clean on the counter and in the machine works
Same in Norway. We have quite a few, but most popular is probably "mozelle", which is grape and apple cider(no alcohol) carbonated. Bonus: Once the carbonization of it is gone, it still taste nice(as it's just a milder tasting cider). Vs sodas, which taste horrible once the carbonisation is gone...
To provide an anecdote on the price argument for sodastream, as someone who drinks soda maybe once/day if that, it has saved me so much on buying cans/bottles of soda. The co2 cartridges last a long time too (longer than the 60L it advertises, if I’m being honest). And the syrups are generally less sugary, that’s just a plus if you’re conscious of your sugar intake.
@@TheKurtTribute this was his first time using it lol, and the carbonation is how much you want that's why it's manual lol, imagine if he didn't do it as much he would've said the cola knockoff was bad because it doesn't have enough of that carbonation
@@ed07722 Milk doesn't contain lactic acid unless it's gone bad. CO2 does create carbonic acid in water, and milk is mostly water. And any acid in milk is going to denature the proteins and make it curdle
In terms of the review I would say the customization of mixing flavors, making your own, adjusting carbonation, being able to carbonate whatever you want, is probably worth the extra 2 cents. Also, 15g of sugar vs 39g would make a huge difference for someone drinking multiple sodas a day. These features he covered make this seem worth it to me if you drink lots of carbonated beverages.

Another way to do this is to use a pressure cooker and put dry ice in it along with whatever you want carbonated. As the dry ice evaporates and the pressure increases the excess carbon dioxide goes into whatever object is there. I've eaten cantaloupe and strawberries this way. Somethings take the carbonation easier than others and apple sauce would be interesting to try. Nice video!

15:50 Bubbling Apple Juice is actually a thing in Germany and also here in the Netherlands. Back in the 80s/90s I drank a lot of that until the midst of the 00s. In Germany, I live very close to the border between the Netherlands and Germany, the brand is called Pfanner and the bubbling apple juice is called 'Apfel Gespritzt'. In the Netherlands it's called 'Spa & Appel', which refers to Spa Barisart (which is also sold in the States according to my American friends) with Apple flavor. As for milk, even that exists. But it's not made the way you did it. It's actually sparkling water with cream ;)
Just watched this video. As to the carbonated milk, try a drink called " New York Cream Egg". The name is somewhat misleading. No egg involved. It's made from "sparkling water", milk and chocolate syrup. Sounds kinda' strange, but actually tastes great. You can find the recipe on UA-cam, Food network and others. Give it a try. @@jessekulbe1855 when I use soda stream, I use so much Pepsi juice that I get stomach problems. But it's too good
Yeah that's how mine was. It worked great though.

Carbonated Apple juice is NOT that weird. When I lived in Germany I saw it everywhere, they have a brand called Appletiser, that is a Sparkling Apple juice that is just as normal as anything else. In Germany they also have carbonated orange juice as well. They have a LOT of carbonated drinks that someone from America wouldn't ever think as something that would or should be carbonated. lol

Martinelli make a nice carbonated apple juice. Definitely nicer than plain
I live in southern Arizona. My favorite Mexican soda is Jarritos.
Should've done Pickle juice, given how much you love pickles
Came here to say exactly this. I just want to see him hate on the pickle juice for 5 minutes.

Carbonation produces a chemical reaction, it doesn’t just “make it fizzy” so the carbonic acid could be reacting weirdly with things other than water.
Co2 should react with milk to form carbonic acid and oxygen so yeah
@@ed07722 Milk doesn't contain lactic acid unless it's gone bad. CO2 does create carbonic acid in water, and milk is mostly water. And any acid in milk is going to denature the proteins and make it curdle

@@KingNast oh my bad maybe I'm wrong on the lactic acid bit 🙏🏽🙏🏽

In terms of the review I would say the customization of mixing flavors, making your own, adjusting carbonation, being able to carbonate whatever you want, is probably worth the extra 2 cents. Also, 15g of sugar vs 39g would make a huge difference for someone drinking multiple sodas a day. These features he covered make this seem worth it to me if you drink lots of carbonated beverages.
Since the bottle and the tanks are reusable, it cuts down on waste aswell which is the primary purpose behind the device

Idk if it's the same now as before, but actually on sodastream when you use it as it's intended (with water), you should be able to just hold down the button nonstop, and it'll actually tell u when it's done with a click.
another thing to mention on the price front is you have to refill those gas canisters and if you're using it a lot that really adds up.
and you have to buy the machine to, only one time but 80$ isn't worth it
Our local paintball store refills them for $5.

Nice video!
