People complain about all the filler in this show but the way I see it, the show is more about the galaxy during the transition to the empire, showing us cool things and answering questions we've wondered about for years, and the batch are simply our tour guides, their odd jobs and missions being a reason to point the camera at places that would otherwise never be shown...
Not really a red herring, just a setup for a plot device in a later episode in which she has to make a choice to show her loyalty to them. We sort of already knew she was loyal to them, so they're making us question it now to pay it off later for the sake of drama when honestly it wasn't really in doubt in the first place.
The realist thing ever said by Kyle was "The riot racing level of the Bad Batch game is gonna suck." I felt that in my soul. Ernie Hudson as the voice of Grini was perfect. Love his work.
I am really liking the greater focus on Tech so far, and hopefully we get more for Echo, too. Even four episodes in, it looks like they took some of the criticism from S1 and used it for S2.
21:08 With Vice Admiral Rampart's complete lack of knowledge for Cody's name and the fact that the Empire is just referring to Clones by their number, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even know Tech's name anymore.
Watch. Episode probably wasn’t filler. The little race and Tech gaining ‘exposure’ is what tips off the empire to where the BB is. Add in the question of Sid’s loyalty and this side episode may have changed the whole story arc. We just don’t know yet.
I think the crowd chanting his nickname was fine, they proved last episode that the Empire doesn't know the nicknames they had during the clone wars when Crosshair had to tell Commander Cody's CT number before the officer recognized him. My guess is that the nicknames were never officially recorded down anywhere so the empire doesn't have official records of anything other than their CT number
Protocol droids aren't known for reflexes, but that could be solved with mods to their body, what they are famous for is HUGE memory banks and rapid probability calculations of insanely complicated situations...
Senator Chuchi from the clone wars, pantoran blue skinned girl who was friends with Ahsoka and Padme, will appear at some point in bad batch season 2, an official image was posted by accident with her and the bad batch.
This was such a fun little side episode, and I loved the additional focus on Tech. I've gone from "eh he's alright" to "I love him with all my heart and if you hurt him Dave I will throw hands" in the span of only three episodes. He's definitely competing with Hunter to be my favorite Batch-er now, and given how neutral I was about him last season, I have to hand it to the show for cultivating an emotional attachment I wasn't sure I'd develop at all. Also since we got a Ben Schwartz droid, we totally need a Jenny Slate droid now. Saperstein Wars 🤣
I can't imagine what you went through in the season finale. At this point, it's becoming a checklist for what celebrity will end up with a role in this franchise next. And it would be so surreal for me to see these actors in roles besides the ones I associate with them.
I love seeing separatist droid‘s still being active after the clone war whether it be by holdouts or having been repurposed, like two of the racers were even though one was a mix of a B1 battle droid and protocol droid.
15:41 Remember Muchi The Rancor, and The Pikes/Durand Issue from last season? She's been dealing with people like that for a while, and we saw some of it back then. Edit: By the way, did you notice at 12:50 that they said Sid's full name? Sidderin Scaleback.
Crosshair? Loyal to the Clones? He's the Bad Batch member who always sneered the most at the 'Regs'. Part of his speech to Hunter was literally 'We're superior'. He thinks him and the rest of the Bad Batch are far, far better than any other Clone. The Empire sees him as just another Clone, though, and this'll cause his downfall.
NOW this is podracing!!! Tech winning the death race in honor of Tay-0 is both beautiful and poetic, his piloting skill sure did came in handy from start to finish. Also, what I love about episode in particular is the sole focus on Tech and WE ARE HERE FOR IT! 10/10 for both the action/character progression of our tech wiz/badass clone. Kyle Katarn and Blind Wave's the reason why Star Wars is my fav franchise in existence.
I think that end part about Cid is def foreshadowing that something in her past is going to come to light, and it's going to have some kind of significance on the teams trust of her. She seemed particularly resentful about the guy bringing it up, even when it was just them talking about old times, and made a point that she's changed. Which considering what we know of how she does business currently, means it must have been something fairly nasty.
The small dino racer is a Nosaouran from STAR WARS: DARK TIMES comics! Awww yeah. I know Filoni was a fan of those comics, but to see some of that lore brought into the show is really something special.
I'm picturing Nerf Nuggets as breaded tenderloin chunks (pork or beef since Nerfs are hard to find on Earth) Also, if you want blue food, use Blue Butterfly Pea tea to colour it. Mild and pleasant flavour that goes well with pretty much everything
A race! Woo hoo hoo! I loved the cool new racers and track style, really just making “physical” versions (in CGI cartoon) of the sort of video game racer track that really fits well in the hypertech mishmash of Star Wars. Every time I see a race (or a chase) in a Star Wars, I get pumped! High speed action! Great to see Tech step up and shine for the episode, and terrific local characters. That Dowutin was properly huge! His warning about Cid is going to stir the pot, and however it shakes out at least we should see more complications on the home front, or from other old associates of hers.
Best Star Wars race I've seen since Boonta Eve. Granted I haven't seen any of Resistance, which I hear involves racing. Regardless, Tech dropping the weapons module mid race for more speed was amazing.
Fantastic episode. The moral of the story was to put doubt in our minds about Cid and they did that perfectly. I know some people are going to claim this was filler and it was anything but filler. We now have reason to doubt Cid if we didn't already. Well done!
Not everything is pod racing!!!! You know there exists racing in every form across the galaxy.... Pod, Swoop, LandSpeeder, Seaskimmer, Boat, AirSpeeder, Starfighter, Beast, Freighter, Star Yacht, Droid, Foot, Wing, Claw, Slime, Swim, and even Star Cruiser. Podracing is specifically "engines TOWING a pilot capsule/pod". Every being everywhere has that urge "I'm going fast mama!" And "if you ain't 1st you're last"
Let us not forget the starship racing in Star Wars Resistance. You can add that to the racing list. Especially in season 2 against the race-modified vulture droids.
The pure disrespect to Tech as the introductions happen 😂 the utter silence! I’m torn with this episode it kind of is a filler but not completely. There’s been a pattern with Cid episodes to be like this. The riot race was a nice homage to pod racing. Tech showed a lot of skills as a racer, being a pilot! And I think Cid absolutely could double cross the batch.
I feel a code name would not have helped when his face was plastered all over the billboards. I hope we get to see an Imperial, maybe Tarkin, point this out to Rampart.
I don't believe cid will betray them on purpose. I think one day after she'll brag a little too much about the batch and that's how the rest of the empire will find them
This episode didn't do much for the plot, like Kyle said, but I feel like it might be my favorite episode of the season so far. This whole episode brought back the nostalgia I felt when I first saw the podracing arc of episode I as a kid, and experienced swoop racing in KotOR 1
4:12 About The Droideka Blaster-Fire Sound Effect, I heard that it's somehow related to that of The Blaster/Turbolaser Fire of an AT-AT (Like in Empire Strikes Back). Is that true?
Crosshair totally killed Tawnie Ames to save Cody. He heard 💩grotton💩 threaten Cody if he doesn't follow orders. Crosshair knows that means either his Commander will be jailed and then probably executed, and he doesn't want that for Cody. His story has started mirroring ISB Agent Kallus from Rebels, who also killed a lot of people/species. It's going to feel like Crosshair will just get worse BUT once ramfart crosses his red line, Crosshair MIGHT kill ramfart & then go AWOL himself. Or play the long game and serve as informant/spy for the budding clone rebellion. Then he gets caught and just before he's killed, either TBB or his reg clone brothers (Cody/Rex) save him OR they all get caught & Crosshair sacrifices himself so his brothers can escape. If I'm remembering correctly, Kallus survived until the end of Rebels. So not all anti-heroes have to die to make a positive impact in the end. ▪︎▪︎ As for #Faster it feels like the writers have seriously planted the seeds that TBB will eventually leave her for their own good, or she dies & that pirate Phee Genoa is her replacement character. Will Cid betray them? Anything's possible, maybe just as we think she will, then Cid finds a way to save both TBB & herself OR she sacrifices herself to save TBB. Killing off Cid and ramfart will definitely move the characters & whole story forward. We'll probably finally get the full scale clone rebellion by season 3 & maybe it goes on for 2-3 full seasons. #TheCloneWars lasted 7 seasons, a clone rebellion can cover a lot of ground too. There are plenty of legends material the writers can work with as pointers/guide, especially since we know they're bringing back (Jedi padawan) Gungi. Who knows, maybe that means we get the story of how Quinlan Vos + jedi sympathizers start "the path" we later see in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Or with Mount Tantiss revived from legends, maybe also how Grogu ends up as blood donor/test subject for cloning papa palps OR how Nikto mercenaries got him (and later saved by #TheMandalorian). So much lore can be explored & afterwards we get the story of how all surviving clones finally find their "happy ever after" MAYBE find a human friendly planet where they can be 100% self sufficient. They can fish, farm, hunt and never have to worry about money to buy food or fuel to leave. They can just stay in their own clone colonized planet far away from the empire's radar. I have a feeling that although the clone rebellion will kill so many of them, there will still be enough clones left to start/create their own civilization in an uninhabited planet. Why do I think this? Bcoz I noticed Hunter hasn't stopped studying star charts, looking for a planet for them to settle in, eversince he asked Cut Lawquane for advise on "how to disappear". They almost landed in Idaflor back in season 1, but detoured to Pantora bcoz they ran out of food & low on fuel. If they finally find an Earth-like planet, they'll never have to worry about money to buy food OR fuel, they won't necessarily have to leave an entire planet that they can call their very own. The clones have all the training they need to survive any situation/environment. I really think TBB series doesn't have to end with everyone dying. Sure we'll get deaths, but George Lucas is NO longer in charge. And giving legacy characters a better conclusion is what this new era of Star Wars is all about. Dave Filoni & Jon Favreau have done an excellent job at reviving legends stories, bringing back characters that just disappeared/fates never concluded, tweaking/retcon certain plots BUT still delivering/lead to the story outcome we're already aware of (Caleb Dume & Depa Billaba's order 66 scene, Cody's legends arc re-written to what we recently saw in ep4 #TheSolitaryClone). I have hope they + their team at @Lucasfilm will do whatever it takes & find a way to keep this awesome animated series to keep going (forever if possible)🤞🤞🤞

This is why filler in Star Wars doesn't exist. Everything everything contributes something.
Tech not knowing how to handle the praise for winning the race was cute. I feel the hint of Sid’s betrayal is a red herring.
Perhaps but they mentioned her past a bit much , interesting, she may turn them over or bail then be redeemed
Not really a red herring, just a setup for a plot device in a later episode in which she has to make a choice to show her loyalty to them. The tech racing song made it so badass lmao

I don't think the empire allowed it but it is a outer rim world so they might not be any empire presence at all.
Tech: Now this is riot racing!
I’m surprised you guys missed Ernie Hudson(Ghostbusters) being in this episode, it’s fun to learn he is a big Star Wars fan too.
Protocol droids aren't known for reflexes, but that could be solved with mods to their body, what they are famous for is HUGE memory banks and rapid probability calculations of insanely complicated situations...

Pleasantly surprised to see Ernie Hudson voicing the Dowutin crime boss.
